This is arguably one of the best burgers in Fort Worth (a great burger town).  Combined with the great menu selection and fantastic variations, this ends up being my current favorite.  The unique atmosphere is perfect for both a full dining experience and just to grab some drinks.  TVs are also available with friendly and alert service.

The main reason for the 5 stars is the burger selection.  There are a large variety of very interesting burgers on the menu which all sound tasty.  Of the 7 burgers I have tried, not one has been disappointing.  Also, their cheese fries surprise are some of the best I have ever had.

*Includes patio, which is dog friendly.

Fun atmosphere, great food, fabulous craft beer selection, comfortable patio, good service. The service at the bar was fabulous. But the wait staff on the patio was new and not quite finding the groove yet. Warning: Folks do bring their dogs to the patio and they do bark at each other sometimes. A little of that can be entertaining but only a little of it. At our table, the humans' burger and a cobb salad made for a great food experience. Will be back for sure.

Rodeo Goat is great! Sometimes, the burger toppings sounds questionable, but I have NEVER been disappointed, and I'm over halfway through the menu.  The fries surprise appetizer is incredibly filling but so delicious.  You can't go wrong with fries or chips on the side. Literally everything I have eaten here is excellent! It's hard for me to even pick a favorite burger...it would be hard to go wrong.  They also have a wide beer selection--lots of Texas beers. Service and atmosphere are great as well.  I would recommend Rodeo Goat without a doubt to anyone looking for a fantastic meal.

The caca oaxaca burger is fantastic!

Great beer selections, but you've got to try the Moontang: Moonshine and Tang, made like a slushy.
i had one of the house special burgers instead of building my own: the Caca Oaxaca burger with beef, chorizo,  avocado, pico, fried egg, quest fresco and Tabasco mayo. Delicious. Divine. Fabulous. Exceptional. Did I mention it was great?
The fried Pie for dessert was good (cherry), made fresh obviously. I should have asked for it a la mode.
The only problem I had, and it may not be the owners issue, is the amount of very small children in here this evening: under 3 whining and crying because they are all tired. Sheesh! Get a baby sitter.
Parking blows: street parking if you can find it within a few blocks.

Any place that has a full selection of Texas craft beer, great burgers and a bucking goat deserves 4 stars! We started with the cheese fries surprise. Excellent choice with a generous mound of  freshly cut fries smothered in brisket chili, cheese and jalapenos. The steak salad was well prepared and fresh. The Hot Bastard burger was just hot enough and very tasty. Started with a Revolver Blood and Honey Hefe to cool off and finished with a Deep Ellum IPA which stood up to the Bastard very well. This was my third trip to the Goat and I will be back.

This place was excellent! What a great selection of burgers for every mood! The staff know their beer, too! Can't wait to go back.

Rodeo Goat was so cool. Great beers, great service, and great food!

I was at the Rodeo Goat earlier this month for a party. We stayed in a section of the restaurant in the back. I am not sure if this is always reserved for parties, or if it is usually restaurant space.

The atmosphere and decor is ultra hip but not hipster (meaning its cool, but it is still friendly). My favorite kind of place.

We got to meet a guy who was either the manager or the owner and he was seriously so awesome.

Next time I am in Fort Worth I will most definitely be returning.

I'm keeping this review simple: you really have to get the Sugar Burger. This is my first time eating a burger with a fruit in it--a perfectly GRILLED PEACH. I'm very much a minimalist when it comes to my burgers, but these guys got it right with the peach, candied bacon, and jalapeno ham.

-1 star for the waitress that cursed right in my colleagues face.

I try to take as many people as I can to this place. Yes, they have "weird" stuff on their burgers that just work (Ravi Shankar anyone?), but beyond that, the burgers are a work of art. They are cooked perfectly and the buns are toasted wonderfully.

I always love bringing people to this place. They ALWAYS thank me. This place is great for locals and tourists.

To top it off, they have an amazing beer selection.

The outside looks like an abandoned building sitting directly underneath a floor of a modern art museum.  Broken cinder blocks with peeling paint and small windows.  And then suddenly it changes to new stucco and metal shades over huge windows.

I've been here several times in a beer-only capacity.  There's no disappointment.  Good service, good bartenders, great beer selection.  The inside is kinda bare minimum and it works.   I always take special notice of the egg cartons on the ceiling, though.

Outdoor patio is great and almost bearable in the heat.  There's huge heaters for the cold.  And there's a water fountain (that looks to be made form a fermenter) pond with lily pads.  Ring toss on both sides.  Actually, the patio is just pretty awesome when the heat allows.

Recently, I actually went there for food.  My, oh my.  I had a burger with blackberries and bacon on it.  That's all you really need to know.  I know the cheese had whiskey in it.  I know that the other burgers I saw (and stole some of) looked amazing.  But seriously, a blackberry bacon cheeseburger.  Yeah, I'll go try the beer burger too.  I almost ordered it, but I had several beers instead.

We've visited Rodeo Goat a couple of times already and have really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

The latest time we've gone,  I ordered the chili fries surprise and the cowboy murrin to split between my husband and myself and the kiddo. The food was absolutely wonderful. It's was flavorful, fresh, and distinctive.the chili fries are fantastic, they filled a large tin pan so its a good sized portion to feed a god sized group. all the goodies in the fries are distributed evenly throughout the dish which is great unless you're not a fan of jalapeños like my husband. The burger came out piping hot and was absolutely wonderful. The only thing I could really say that could have improved this burger was to maybe use a little more BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce flavor kind of got lost with all the other favors.

Overall, this is a great place to go: there's plenty of seating, a beautiful patio, great beer selection, and fantastic food. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is this: the waitstaff was a little off. We had to wait quite a while for our check, refills, et. They weren't overly friendly and helpful, however it might have been due to a busy Sunday afternoon. Also, I can tell this  is place wasn't intended on being a family dining hot spot for hipsters but it's kind of leaning that direction (that's not a bad thing!). What I mean by that statement is that although they provide highchairs for the kiddies, during our latest visit there were so many families there that they had a waiting list for highchairs. This didn't put a damper on our experience in the least bit, but it would have been nice if Rodeo Goat took notice of their demographic trends and adjusted accordingly.

Parking is a bit of a hassle like anything else in this area. There's a small parking lot connected to the building but more often than not you'll be hunting for street parking so grab it when you see it.

This place has the feel of a backyard family party, with a relaxed pleasant environment. Take advantage of the patio seating while it's still cool enough to sit outside!

Fantastic place for burgers (and how they should be done).  Although they are a bit pricy ($9) like everything else on West 7th... they aren't out of the ballpark for what they are:  A unique experience, with fresh (mostly) ingredients, and options you will not find anywhere else.  If you are there during the week, look at the floor--the specials are in Chalk-and might be walked away, but usually a $5-6 burger, and beer specials!!

The meat is ground fresh, and tastes like it.  If burgers turn you off, you should still try this and be reminded what burgers are supposed to be like!

The design is sort of a "goat pen" with stainless steel stalls.  The tables are long and "split" between "my side and your side"... but in FW we can sit next to each other and might make new friends!

The beer and full bar flows... but we're here for the food, right!  So far I've had the following:
Ravi Shankur-peanut butter and spice.  Even Norah Jones would like this!  (Um... that's her Daddy for you who didn't get the reference)

Negril Beach...added Goat Cheese (hey!  Why not?)  I LOVE plantains, but didn't like the dried out mushy way they are prepared here (they don't add anything)... but this is a nice burger...

Olivia Darling--I love an Olive Burger.  Simply wonderful.

Sugar Burger-very understated.  After prepping for weeks for a sugar rush of burger, that's not what I got.  It's just a simple, leaning to the sweet side...no Sugar Rush I was expecting.

Telluride-Hatch Green chilies, and Roasted poblano Goat Cheese!  Heaven!

Hot Bastard--Are you kidding... you need MORE BEER!

If you can't get  happy in here, you can't get happy at all!

Not sure what happened to this place....we used to love it...but wow!  Ryan has always been more than rude.  She has never been nice to us, or anyone around us she was serving.  You feel like you are going to be slapped by a Staff Sergeant.  Clint and Jill have just gotten on the super rude train the past few times we have been in and even with a group of friends, they were rude to them also.  We were informed of former employees and customers whom are no longer coming bc of the service.  The food is still excellent.  Just do not sit at the bar.   It was annoying to listen to Jill in the past take phone orders and be rude to people and roll her eyes while doing so.  Now she has done it to us the past 3 times we have been around her.  Sorry we were not aware that over tipping and conversing with you was in any way shape or form horrible on our part.

My one girlfriend went to order a Dr Pepper at the bar, after being in the sun and sweaty all day, as we walked in.  Yes she was in need that much of a cold beverage she did not want to wait to sit down and get service and then her beverage.  Jill said, "No I am not serving you or your friends"  Wow.  Horrible.  I asked Brad, manager, what the problem was.  As they all turned around and walked out.  He said "she thought she was drunk"  I said well...that is unfortunate bc it seems people who want a cola and a burger, should not be a reason to deny service.   Especially when we called in to check to see if they were busy so we would not come and back up the kitchen and then other people get upset if they were waiting too long for food.  And we were in the week before and said we would be bringing in a group of 20 if that would be okay.  People in our group were from Forney, Carrollton, Murphy and Addison.  They just wanted to enjoy an afternoon running around Fort Worth.  Seeing as 5 cars carpooled, and the avg age was 35, I am thinking our responsible group was in the right, not wrong.  Sorry our dance crew was too much fun, not intoxicated.  But fun is probably a word you do not understand bc you are too busy judging everyone else's happiness and mistaking it for your own misery.

Another occasion the man ordered a drink, a few sips in, he noticed a bug in his drink.  Clint responded with "well I keep caps on all my bottles so it is not my fault"  I am pretty sure the correct response is "no prob I will take care of that."

Seeing as we have prob spent almost a 1000$ coming in here.   Most of the staff seems friendly and greets well.  Sam is a doll!  I encourage you to sit on the patio or tables under the TV.  I do not think this is a reflection of Keith.  That guy works his arse off...but some of his staff needs a customer service swift kick.   We will not be returning.  We have even been here twice in one day, we have been coming since it opened.  Rather unfortunate.

I absolutely LOVE this place!!!  By far one of my new favorite places to get a burger in Fort Worth.  I have tried two different types so far and loved both.  My favorite is the Ravi Shankar.  This burger is an Indian style burger, very unique and full of delicious flavors that explode in your mouth. I can easily devour this huge burger alone.  It is a must try.

If you are into beer, this place has an excellent selection of microbrews.  One of my favorite is the The Temptress stout on draft.   Bartenders are super friendly, as is all the staff.   Seating is good and lots of it.  It can be a little difficult to find if you are not familiar with the area.  Use your google maps and it is an easy find.  Parking sucks, so get there early on a weekend night.

Rodeo Goat is a solid little burger joint with a fun patio. The beer menu and the burger menu are both huge and have some great options.  I got the Telluride and it was awesome. It was after a hard weekend of partying when we went so Bloody Mary's were in order.  Rodeo Goat puts an interesting and tasty little spin on there BM's... Shiner!  Who knew it would taste so good.

The vibe here is great, laid-back and welcoming.  It's hip enough to get all your friends on board but not exclusive, we're are talking burgers and beer here after all.

I had the Salted Sow with a Lonestar out on the patio.  Tasty stuff.

The beer selection has all your local favorites and I love the way the patio continues the chill atmosphere from indoors.

We were in a group visiting fort worth for memorial weekend and being a Sunday night we had limited food options. Hence why we ended up a little out of our downtown location at Rodeo Goat!
Great ambience. The interior was industrial and buzzing, outside had a great patio with fairy lights and picnic benches. As it wasn't 100 degrees yet we opted for the outdoors.
Lots good beer choices (craft beer etc) as well as some fun cocktails.

The burgers were delicious, lots interesting combinations like candied jalapeños, goat cheese, bacon, avocado etc etc.
They use hand ground beef for their burgers and whilst they were delicious I wasn't a huge fan of the "mealy" texture...but I didn't mark it down for this as that's just personal taste and everyone else liked that (plus kudos for hand ground)

I've read few negative reports about the staff but our waitress was lovely. I'm not sure how she managed all those trips across the gravel patio with our food and drinks without spilling something and keeping a smile on her face but she did.

Ok, I tried it not once, but twice due to the great reviews and buzz.  Dissapointed both times.  Each time received only mediocre, very slow service.  Each of our burgers were over cooked despite requesting medium rare.  Burger combinations are creative and fun, but poorly executed.  The loaded fries were awesome, but arrived long before our burgers.  Love the atmosphere, but unimpressed with the rest.

Burgers and beer? Two of my most favorite things, especially when the beer is craft and the burgers are inventive. The Goat nails this premise and has a lot of fun with it, too!

We showed up on a Tuesday night with both Bs on our minds - we quickly settled in on the large patio (seat yourselves!) and started poring over the menu. Though the beverage menu is mostly comprised of Texas craft beer, they do offer a variety of American crafts and also make a few snazzy Tex-astic cocktails replete with interesting ingredients and clever copy (i.e. the Moontang: "Fitch's Goat Moonshine blended with Tang and other things").

The burgers are every bit as interesting - think natural beef slathered with anything from brisket chili to jalapeño jam to smokey orange mayo... but not all together, thankfully! Clearly, the chefs have thought long and hard about which flavor combinations work while still shocking minds and taste buds alike. I ended up opting for the Caca Oaxaca, with a beef and chorizo patty topped with avocado, pico, fried egg, queso fresco and tabasco-mayo. Extremely drool-worthy, though I think their burgers could be even better with a designer bun (kolache? pretzel?).

Service was the only sore spot for us - our original server literally forget about us and our beers which we waited 25 minutes for. A second server 'adopted' us, and she was on the ball and just all-around lovely (and made sure we finally got the chance to order food, as well). However, server #1 did come back for us and rudely interrupted us in between mouthfuls to brings us our check - um, we WERE going to order another round of beers but guess she was more interested in hurrying us out. We did receive an apology from the manager, who also comped the two earlier beers we enjoyed.

Definitely one of the coolest spots I've experienced so far in Fort Worth, and I can't wait to come back and eat my way through their menu! Dangerous? Absolutely.

Yelp elite had a meet and greet with our lovely new boss lady Kendal at Rodeo Goat a few days back. She offered us the first round which shows me that she knows the proper form of motivation to get me to do just about anything (that motivation is beer in case you want to motivate me :P).

Anyhoozle, I have always wanted to try this place because all of my friends have tried this place and attested that it is the bomb. I looked at the menu and figured that this would be the Dane Cook of burger joints. Much to my surprise, I was wrong.

The place looks like a retrofitted foundry which happens to be a look that I love. If you like arcade fire, the lumineers and the killers, you'll love the atmosphere because thats the kind of musica they play (I was expecting another lame country soundtrack). They also have a nice looking patio. Be warned though: parking blows here. Our server was really prompt and really nice. You could tell that she really liked working here and was super helpful in getting my selections down.

They have a really nice selection of beers. Let me just take a second to say how happy I am that these texas breweries are flourishing and getting their products out. I had a couple of revolvers which complemented my meal quite well.

I ordered the Candy burger. I'm not one for novelty and when I looked at the menu, thats just what this place seemed like at first. You know, the place you go once and you like it but then you never go back because you have to have a certain craving for that same combination in order to go? Yeah this place is not like that. I gotta tell you, I've never had grilled peaches on a burger before and that first bite made me wonder what the hell I'd been eating before this. It was the weirdest thing to experience euphoria and bliss at how good this burger was while also experiencing rage that 1) it took me so long to get up here and 2) no one should be allowed to have food this good! Everything on that burger had a place and it worked. The candied bacon was a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The jalapeno jam had the right amount of kick. The bun was toasted just right and soft enough to melt in your mouth. My burger was a undercooked (I usually get my burger well done) and normally I would have sent it back. But they were going to have to pry that burger from my cold dead hands before I willingly gave it back.

Seriously though if you haven't been, I highly recommend giving this place a shot if you have $9 to blow on a burger. Not kidding. It is out of this world.

    Short Answer? Yes.

Explanation: met a friend here on a Friday night around 7pm. It took me forEVER to find it! Had to lie to the parking garage attendant at Movie Tavern about where I was going, then started walking. I walked down every street grid in the transplanted Dallas Uptown known in FW as "West 7th" or whatever--it has been just a little while since I was here because Fred's has exploded into the Alien Queen instead of just a drone!

Anyway, I *finally* stumbled upon the back-facing Rodeo Goat and staggered to the bar where my friend was waiting (for about 28 minutes). She had already made friends with some dude there and also the young and hot bartender--all of whom were against me and I received much keying for being late. In other words, they were all really cool!

The place is huge and has a nice patio with fire pits. We relocated out there and the waitress was also cool and non-intrusive. When, after being out there for a while and getting pretty cold (this was in April with that cool spell we somehow had), no one vibed us when we asked to move back inside to a booth.

Now the food: burgers. Look--I've been to plenty of "gourmet" burger places and a lot of them end up being mediocre. THESE WERE NOT. There are all kinds of crazy-ass weirdo combinations of burgers from which to choose and they all sound delicious.

We opted for the Ravi Shankar burger that featured coriander chutney and peanut butter. It was in-cred-i-ble. Really worked well. Also did a chorizo burger topped with a fried egg that I absolutely loved! The burgers are big and messy and you quickly will experience "burger fall-apart", but whatever. The place is neat looking, the staff was all young and friendly and the food is awesome. Although it seems a little "fakey"/Dallas-y, I won't criticize them for that.

Do put this on your list.

I have now visited the Rodeo Goat twice.  Once during the rush hour of 6  30 on a Saturday evening and a Wednesday evening when the place was dead.  Rodeo Goat is a walk in and find a seat type of place that has wandering waitresses who can easily get lost in the shuffle.  That being said, service isn't their strong point, especially on a busy night.

Turning to their food, we have now officially tried four of their burgers.  Getting the yellow four place ribbon is the Negril Beach.  This burger has a smokey orange mayo spread with pineapple and plantains.  The plantains  were hard and chewy which took away from the experience of the burger.  In third place was the sugar burger which was topped with peaches, candied bacon, and onions.  Obviously, if you like sweet things, then go for it, but it was too much for me.  The first and second place burger depends on if you want to speak with the health conscious me or the I don't give a damn about calories me.  The telluride is their green chile burger that I had when green chiles were in season. I am a huge green chile fan so this had everything I love including a chile infused goat cheese.  The other top burger is the Caca Oaxaca which was a burger topped with brisket chili, a fried egg, and Tabasco mayo. This burger was definitely the grease monkey, but man it was tasty.

The burgers are a little pricey in my opinion but it is a fun experience. By the way, their side salad is a good option in place of fries or chips. It has a great vinagerrette and is a great mix of greens and other rabbit food.

The first time we went here, back in December, food was excellent, service tried, but let's face it, 30 minutes for a shake and 1 hour for the burger?  Honestly?  At lunch?

It was horrible.  But, we decided to try it again.  Now, we got to actually enjoy our food since were not starving by time it reached our table.

The burgers are inventive, but not revolutionary.  Enjoy exploring.  The shakes are decent.  Not great, but not bad either.  The patio area is a great place to spend a lunch.  Service was prompt and attentive.  We will be going back.

I gave it three stars on this one to average out both trips.

Industrial chic decor (is that a real category?) with sparse decorations and fancy burgers.

We had the chili cheese fries (messy, a bit soggy, but delicious).  Then I had the sugar burger, which as another poster said is "candied bacon, grilled peaches, caramelized onions, arugula, and jalapeno jam".   It was sweet, but I felt not overly so.  It was amazing!  My coworker loved her burger too and the chips she got on the side (which we had no room for) were the usual homemade chips and pretty tasty.

I am looking forward to going back.

I am a sucker for unusual burgers so when my other half told me about this place we had to try it asap.  Our waitress was a little dingy (kept mishearing us, didn't seem to like my asking questions about how strong the booze drinks were) but the food was quite good.  The chili cheese fries were awesome, they were the kind of fries I wouldn't have liked nekkid but they worked really well with the tasty chili and cheese.  I was practically licking the bowl so to speak.  Four of us split these and we each got a decent amount, I would definitely NOT order them alone and I might not even order for just two unless we were super hungry and/or not planning on eating burgers (which would be kind of criminal here).

I ordered the 'sugar burger' which is "candied bacon, grilled peaches, caramelized onions, arugula, and jalapeno jam".  The flavor was very good, if you like sweet stuff like I do.  However, both the bun and the burger were falling apart.  I've never seen a burger with so little cohesion actually, though I'm used to seeing buns get soggy.  Rodeo goat should take a visit to LA Burger to see what buns they really should be using.  LA Burgers' buns taste amazing and don't get soggy.  If RG fixed replaced the buns and fixed the burger cohesion issue it would be a five star burger.

I do wish they had more tables with real (backed) chairs.  I don't really like sitting at high bar stools.   Maybe next time I will be brave enough to try one of the cocktails, I just don't like really strong drinks and I didn't want to order something that might be too strong for me and I couldn't really get a good answer on how strong they were.  I guess if I'm not driving it wouldn't matter, but ideally I want to enjoy the drinks.

Anyway, I am sure we'll be back, it's close to my honey's work and though it's no LA Burger (to be fair, few places are!) it's definitely interesting and tasty.

Never judge a book from its covers goes will well this place.  From the outside I thought Rodeo Goat was small but when I walked in I was wrong.  This place is huge and there were plenty of places to sit on a friday night even when it was packed.

    Starters:
We started off with Cheese fries with the brisket on the side.  The cheese fries were really good with the ranch they provided.   My friends and hubby had the brisket with their fries said it was really good.  The meat was flavorful.

    Meals:
I ordered their special of the day which I believe was called the Dirty Crow.  It consisted of a veggie patty with pico de gallo, guacamole (which I left off) and an aioli sauce.  OMG my burger was really good.  The veggie patty was really fresh and flavorful.  The pico de gallo and the aioli sauce was a perfect match for my burger.  My hubby ordered the Hot Bastard and it sure was hot!  The meat was really moist and not dry at all.  He said it was spicy but enjoyable.

    Dessert:
We ordered the fried Cherry pie and Chocolate pie with ice cream.  This dessert was so good.  It was like a dessert empanada.  The chocolate pie was my favorite.

Service was fantastic here and we enjoyed our time here.  I can't wait to try other burgers from here.

I love burgers so I was super excited to hear about this place in the west 7th area. Me and my best girlfriend went for dinner one night. Very cool decor. I love it. It is completely Ft worth. The patio is done very well also. I can't wait to sit out there for Sunday Funday when the weather gets nicer.

We walked in a you sit at family style tables which I  think is fun. I know some people get weird about this but it doesn't bother me. Hey you might make a new friend. They even have a fun divider thing that simply says "hey this is my side" or something numerous like that to "separate" yourselves from the next party over.

Cons: service was super slow to start and they weren't busy at all....really like 10 ppl were in there. She eventually got better, but me and my gf are both in then industry and usually give the benefit of the doubt but this was slloooowww.

Drinks are pretty pricey. I understand that we are on west 7th and everything is more expensive over there. Yea I usually hang out in dive bars where my whiskey soda is 4 bucks...the drink I had was yummy thought. A frozen moonshine or something.  Very refreshing. My friends Bloody Mary was tasty as well but still a little pricey even considering.

Pros: the food and the prices of the food.  thank goodness right??  We order the cheese fries surprise to start and it was enormous. It was awesome as well. Comes with 2 sides of ranch...they are smart haha and a side of ketchup. A little too much chili on our portion but we overlooked it. The bacon was super yummy on it so were the jalapeños....just overall great. We had to force ourselves to stop eating them so we could enjoy our burgers. Burgers were all in the 9 dollar range but they are pretty darn big. Fries and sides were 2-6 bucks so overall not bad for what you get and the quality is good.

She had the one with the chorizo and egg (I can't remember their names) and I had the sort of classic burger with the BBQ on the side. It was pretty normalish. Anywho, we were both super please with them. I will say they "pride" themselves on cooking it to medium and even have a food borne illness warning that they have to have about eating meat pink....however, mine was way overdone. It wasn't bad....some how it managed to still be pretty awesome but it was overlooked and so was my friends.
It would've been fine had they not made such a big deal about it being medium.

Their pickles are amazing. They make make them there but they are just like claussen deli pickles to me. They are great either way. BBQ sauce was very good. I was glad I saved half my burger for my drunken snack later. The grease content was just about right on it.

They also have pickle backs on the menu. This made my day. For those of you unaware of what that is....it's a shot of Jameson followed by a shot of pickle juice and its glorious :). Glad to see they've jumped on that train.

All in all good. I will be back. They have a huge beer selection as well and it's probably cheaper than their mixed drinks.  There were so many other burgers I wanted so I will, be back to try them.

Went today for St. Paddy's "brunch" with some friends from church.  We started with chips/queso/guac and bacon cheese fries (held the chili).  Both were very good, but the bacon cheese fries were enough for all 6 of us, huge portion and very delicious.  The burgers have some great combinations, my wife and I split the Sugar Burger.  The combination of sweet flavors was great, the bun was perfect, but the burger was overcooked, a heavy burnt taste and not very juicy.  My son had a plain cheeseburger ($8, ouch, they need a kid's size burger) which was good but also overcooked/slightly burnt.

The service was definitely a highlight, attentive and always nearby but we never felt rushed or watched.  This is a neat restaurant, we may return but I will definitely need to figure out how to nicely request that they only cook my burger to medium and not burn the outside.

There is a certain person at my office that can't stop talking about this place. He regularly sends us photos of the nachos he's in the process of devouring and in general, gives Rodeo Goat a glowing review. With such accolades (including a spot on the new Eater Heatmap), I had to swing by. My fiance got the incredibly/ridiculously spicy "Hot Bastard" and while he's a tough critic on what's spicy (I carry tabasco around in my purse), he was silenced. That burger was good.

For me, I opted for the Neil Young veggie burger -- sprouts, tomato, avocado, and green goddess dressing on a whole wheat bun. It was truly one of the best veggie burgers I've had. And I've had a lot. We paired our sandwiches with the Texas Caviar, but our friend's fries one the "good sides" test. Go to Rodeo Goat before it gets too crowded -- you will love the experience.

Been here for lunch a coupla times. With so many places opening up in the "West 7th Corridor" or whatever the hell they call it, kinda wonder how many are going to be worth keeping around. Considering my visits, I hope they hang around a long time.

While the burgers are a little pricey at $9 each, that's not terribly above 'gor-met' burger joints, although I'm not sure I'd describe this place as one. I've tried the Hot Bastard and Terlingua burgers, and both were cooked pretty well perfect, and tasted great.  The Hot Bastard, while spicy, wasn't, to me anyway, at a level where anyone but a pure wuss wouldn't enjoy it. Flavorful yea, burning your mouth spicy hot, no. The Terlingua had a brisket chili on it that was the standout, very good.

Fries are hand cut, both times I've been there they were really good. For a couple $ not bad, and I got a generous portion. Probably the best deal for the money is the chips and queso, you also get a small bowl of red and verde sauce, and usually I'm not a green sauce fan, but this one was spicy, more so than the red sauce. You get a small bowl (not a cup) of queso and a lot of chips. It's more than a meal on it's own and it's $5.

Beer on tap includes a lot of Texas beer. Including Live Oak and Revolver. Lot of bottle craft beers, seems like a decent selection to me. Most beers are right under $5. Other than that, full bar as well. Service has been great both times, fast, friendly, no problems. I ask for something I need, I get it pretty quick. I was eating during off peak hours, so if it's wild busy, I can't vouch for anything.

However, the overall feature that's making me a big fan is they have a good sized patio outside, which is mostly covered by a sheet type awning above the patio. The wood bench seats get a little hard on the ayse, but I was there on an extended drinking, eating, and smoking visit. So a normal dining experience shouldn't leave anyone with much discomfort.

That's right, you can smoke on the patio, suck it haters. I had a nice long seegar smoking lunch, and not one mean look from some hairy eyeballed tree hugger. Several other smokers outside as well. So maybe if you can't stand a little extra smoke in your smog filled air, then stay inside, we won't mind.

When my boss mentioned a joint called The Rodeo Goat, I knew I had to get there quick! We finally got the chance to go this week for lunch, and we had a good time.

First of all, parking is awful. We ended up parking on the street the next block over. Thankfully, it was a gorgeous day, so a little walk wasn't too much of a hassle. The place is big enough on the inside that there was no wait for a place to sit.

The ambience is really fun - definitely NOT fine dining. We dined in what felt like a goat corral. Our server wasn't the friendliest person in the world - that was the other downer about our experience (aside from the parking). But despite her lack of friendliness, she did a solid job of tracking our order for a party of 7.

I opted for the Cowboy Murrin - a burger complete with applewood smoked bacon, tomato, pickle-jalapeno chutney, fried onions, cheddar and BBQ sauce and a side of fries. The menu touts that burgers are 7 oz and cooked to just a touch of pink - and it's true! The patty was cooked to perfection, and with all that goodness loaded on, it was delicious. The fries were plentiful, hot and fresh. I would have liked a hint of seasoning on them. It was a really good burger. Definitely could have split the fries with a friend.

The patio looked fantastic. But the boss was with us, so no fun on the patio on that particular visit. The selection of beer looks very inviting - and I definitely plan to go back.

From the outside during daylight, I thought, "what the heck is Rodeo Goat?" A dissipated-looking building that seemed a bit cold and quiet, with bold letters spelling out "Rodeo Goat" across the top... Hmm.

But now I've actually been there, more than once, and it's far from cold and quiet. It's quite warm and comfy inside, despite how spacious and stainless steel-ish it is. Every person working there seems to be a guru on craft beer and hearty food. Full bar, wide selection, and a gourmet burger menu that will make you feel so indecisive! They all sound incredible, but I went with a bunless Sugar Burger: natural beef (perfectly cooked and extremely juicy), grilled peaches, caramelized onions, candied bacon, arugula, and a jalapeno jam served on the side.... Have mercy. It was beautifully sweet; but the sweetness was challenged by the spice of the jam and the expertly seasoned beef. HIGHLY recommended - I doubt you could not absolutely love it.

Bring a buddy, a date, or your whole family here. There is a ton of room and big, long tables for large parties. Their outside patio is warm with heaters and cozy seating. Go for the bar; go for the food; go because it's called Rodeo Goat and there's an actual rodeo goat inside!! He's taxidermic, mind you.. or is it taxidermied? He's stuffed. Dead.  But still cute.

I *LOVE* this bar!  Never, ever, thought I'd be singing the words of Toby Keith... but this place did it for me!
I've been here  a couple of times now - both just for a snack (The cheese fries with surprise are SO SO good) and for a meal (the Terlingua burger rocks).  They have a great selection of beer and ciders, of course, since they're part of the Meddlesome Moth-Flying Saucer family why would you expect any less?  The onion rings are not on the menu, but they make them fresh to order with Shiner Bock batter - you MUST get these.

The inside of the place is pretty low key - wide open with lots of high bar-type tables (each one has a great "my side/your side" divider) and "The Pen" with smaller tables and booths.  The bar, while displaying the namesake Goat, is rather small and hidden in the corner.  The bartenders were super nice and efficient, as was our server when we ate at a table.

The patio, however, really gets me excited - Long tables with a chimenea at the end of each one - a nice covered awning for the entire patio and - get this: DOGS ARE WELCOME.  Since So7 left we don't have a 'go to' patio on 7th to take the pooch.
Come on, Springtime... I'll be moving into the Goat.

Finally a burger that goes above and beyond lettuce tomato and pickles that I don't have to pick and choose the toppings.  I got the salted sow. Had Italian sausage and prosciutto on it. The burger and chips where awesome. Which they chose a higher quality bun, like a pretzel roll.

Atmosphere was lack luster basically an empty where house with some picnic tables. Music was horrid...

West 7th, or at least this entire area, has been cranking out gastropubs left and right, though you cannot quite lump this into that category. More of a watering hole with burgers and simple fare, I would classify Rodeo Goat a bar and grill. Regardless, the grub satiates, and the booze flows.

The interior reminds me of the inside of a beer trough. Spacious, metallic, and overall funky. Not entirely a bad thing, I would say. Better is the exterior, which provides hints of a beer garden--hopefully RG finds access to a stage. This joint screams concert material.

The beer selection satisfies, and you will definitely find something to sit heavy in your tummy on the food end of the menu. Specifically, the munchies give you so much bang for your buck that you will find yourself banging on the restroom door if someone is occupying its facilities.

The Cheese fries "surprise"--make sure you don't order "Cheese fries no surprise"-- boasts fries, jalapenos, an abundance of the famed dairy product, and crisped bacon. Oh, and the surprise is chili. Surprise! Who does not love chunks of bacon, smothered with buttery chili. At $7.50, this meal merits no further meal for the evening. Unless you also splurge on the $5 Chips and queso, which merits an order of salsa. 2 salsas are offered, with neither being very exciting, unfortunately. The red necessitates a handful of seasoning and salt, and the green, though vibrant, finds itself equally desperate for salt. The queso makes up for it: creamy and beefy, to say the least.

I must return in due time to give their extremely appealing burgers a spin. It appears that this joint is here to stay, and I have no idea how this market is continuing to allow eateries like Reservoir, Fred's, and Rodeo Goat to all be pals! But I like it.

Deceptively larger than it looks from the outside, Rodeo Goat is carving out an interesting niche in its stead: I wandered in for a couple of reasons, not the least of which was my wonderment regarding the name. Turns out it is, essentially, representative of an effort to A) get a goat drunk and then B) ride it competitively.

I can appreciate that kind of levity (likely more so than the actual practice of goat riding, anyway), and no sooner was I parked at the bar then I found myself staring down a generous assortment of Texas brews on tap and additional creative selections beyond that in the cooler. Word is that they're angling to bring in live music, and that hasn't started yet with any regularity, but the patio's borderline expansive and from driving by I had absolutely no idea that there was this much room inside. Go figure.

It's pretty spare by way of industrial, and I haven't tried eating here, so I'll reserve that for a possible re-review. But all in all, I'd wager a promising start.

Trying out a place right after they've opened can be a tricky endeavour. If they knock you out right away, you know they've done their homework, they know how to do what they do, and it'll be a great place to spend time in the future. But if not, it doesn't exactly say the place is going to be a failure, it could just mean there is a wrinkle or two to iron out. There's no sense in being too tough on a place that might not have its feet on the ground quite yet.

Going in and knowing that Rodeo Goat was a new venture by the folks who brought us the Flying Saucer (including a chef from the Meddlesome Moth), I have to say I expected a bit more. Service on a Sunday afternoon with a sparse crowd was not exactly stellar...pretty much every step of the way -- greeting, ordering, checking up on drinks, and paying out took a little longer than it should have.

The burgers are unique, the fries are good, but a major point that's already been made is that there's some formidable competition just around the block. We tried the Caca Oaxaca burger (they call it the "caca burger" for short...and you know, I know I'm just some random guy with an opinion but I really think they ought to consider renaming that one) -- chorizo mixed in to the patty, avocado, pico, queso fresco, a fried egg and tabasco mayo -- and it was really good. They also have a pretty good selection of Texas drafts (starting to see this trend a lot more around here and I like it -- both because people are actually doing it and because the craft brew scene is becoming vibrant enough to make it happen).

So overall --- I can't say that I can decide on a solid 3, 4, or 5-star rating, but I'll settle on 4 and reserve the right to change it as we get to know Rodeo Goat a little better. But I've got a good feeling that once they settle into the new digs it will be a great place to be.

I visited this brand new burger and beer joint during its first week of business, and I believe I tasted success in Rodeo Goat's future. Their success will lie in the details so let me start by relaying what they got right:

    1) Excellent brisket chili on the Terlingua burger and the inclusion of corn chips for extra fun times
    2) Cornmeal fried jalapeno slices and a hefty dollop of goat cheese make inspired additions to a cobb salad (hint: those jalapeno slices would make a perfect addition to appetizer menu)
    3) An enormous covered (so important!) outdoor patio will provide plenty of seating for the masses on warm Texas evenings
    4) Thoughtful selection of craft beers

My biggest quarrel (and I have a few) was that our server, who was definitely not ready for prime time, did not ask us how we wanted our meat prepared. The burger, 7oz. of house-ground beef, would stun like a cattle prod if only it had been cooked to medium rare. Same goes for the sirloin steak on the Cowboy Cobb which was overcooked to the point of being difficult to cut with a steak knife. The kitchen needs to make this relatively minor adjustment immediately. Some additional server training won't hurt either.

All in all, I look forward to returning for a (5-star?) visit and a medium rare Rodeo Goat burger next time I'm in the Fort!
