Fancy little speakeasy type bar hidden behind a nonassuming little black door on La Cienega.

Try the Tijuana Brass - it's interesting.

I went on a Saturday night and it had a pleasant amount of people but didn't get too packed.  The bartenders told us it was a really slow night though.

Interesting crowd... definitely some Weho cougars out on the prowl.

We stopped in here after dinner in LA one night for a cocktail.  It was me, my boss, and a few Japanese executives who were visiting on a business trip.  The cocktails here were excellent - really well made with fresh ingredients and lots of imaginitive combinations.  I also liked that it felt like a speakeasy - hidden and off the main street.  The crowd was cool too.  Definitely worth a visit if you are craving a top notch drink without an insane price.

What a hidden treasure! We visited here one night before our show and had a blast. The bar is very tiny which adds to the atmosphere. The drinks really stand out! I don't normally like drinks from bar menus: I find them to be fruity concoctions that mask the taste of alcohol. No worries with The Roger Room. First, they have a great selection of top shelf alcohol. I told the bartender what I liked in a drink (Demerara rum, lime, ginger, nothing sweet) and he sure delivered a tasty libation. My husband and our friends all ordered drinks off the menu, which I tasted, and they were equally great. I remember my husband had a whiskey sour and you could actually taste the whiskey.

If you like the taste of alcohol and want to get away from the hipsters, this the bar to visit. I just wish we lived closer.

Have had this place on my list for a while. Came on Thursday night after dinner, so about 11:30pm. As others have said it is almost impossible to find unless you know where it is, but my friend's been there before so no worries. It is small but not tiny. You can sit at the bar, in booths or at a couple of semi booth tables. The decor is cool and of course the drinks are fun and creative. The crowd was mostly 20 and 30 year olds...lol I think I was the oldest person there including the staff (I'm 48)! But it was all good, not loud, very relaxing and fun.

I love this place.  Only downside is that it's not huge and can get packed quick.  Try the 4 Aces.

Bottom line: The Roger Room is a fire hazard waiting to happen!

Yes, it's speakeasy and the booze ain't cheap. You are after all in the Mecca of West Hollywood. So standards are the chances of you finding good quality drinks at decent prices are slim to none. Then again being a Vegas local, this is pretty much typical or comparable to Strip price.

I ordered the green fairy, as I wanted to sip on my favorite poison -Absinthe! Unfortunately, I didn't witness any green fairies maybe it was due to the over occupancy of The Roger Room. I seriously never felt more claustrophobic in a shoe boxed room. It was elbow to elbow and everyone spilling drinks on one another. Ladies be careful if you're wearing something that is prone to getting your back wet, unless that's your forte ;)

Would I go back to The Roger Room? ----Probably not. I guess it's kinda fun to find these hidden haute spots, but when you're like a sardine in a can. Intoxicating yourself in another bar is a better option.

Thank goodness having a drink in hand cures my claustrophobia.

The Roger Room is a tiny bar, and the patrons quickly packed in the Saturday night I made my first visit. And I'm not sure that I would have it any way - the smallness of the space only adds to its quaint charm. Stepping in, there's the bar to your left, and booths to the right - at the very back, there's another seating area that can get cramped and awkward. (So cramped that if you scoot your chair back a few inches too far, you might fall off the edge.) My advice - nab a booth if you can get there early enough.

If you come here and DON'T try one of their signature cocktails... that's a crime.  I ended up with the Japanese Maple as my first drink - Japanese whiskey, maple syrup, egg white, lemon juice. Very sweet and frothy. As a bonus, they stencil designs on top. Some other lucky yelper got Hello Kitty, but I got a moustache, which was just as pleasing.

I also had a drink mixed with Absinthe, but am blanking on the name... probably because the Green Fairy took ahold and erased the rest of the night's memories.

LOVED this place. Came here for a drink on a Saturday night before a show at the Largo. First off, I love the atmosphere, very Mad Men. The good looking bartenders (always a plus) were well-clad in dress shirts, pants, and suspenders. They seem to care for their craft, well-designed cocktails. I am usually a fussy drinker, but there were so many cocktails on the menu I want to go back and try.
I intend to put this bar into my regular rotation.

Great drinks a touch pricey but high quality ingredients and if you can talk to the bartenders they will be able to suggest something that will catch your fancy.

The Roger Room is a pretty cool bar. The decor is a la 1920's. The drinks here are great and the bartenders are "mixologists". They really know what they're doing. I usually order the absinthe drinks. They're strong but very tasty.
This is a great place to chill and talk with your friends.

They have my favorite drink on the planet... Old Sporte

Drinks here are quite good, but overpriced. I'm willing to pay a high price for a good well-crafted cocktail, but they need to break out long-drinks like the Moscow Mule and price them lower than something which requires more time and attention to craft and uses higher-end ingredients.  I mean - it's basically vodka, ginger beer and lime.

They definitely have a good range of cocktails in terms of flavor profiles, there is something for everyone here.

It can however be very difficult to get a drink as it's a pretty small place and popular, so it's hard to get a table or spot at the bar, and there is really very little standing room for those without a seat. And there is not a lot of turnover, people with spots tend to camp out, so if it's packed don't expect to get a table or seat in short order.

After working a long hard day, tried to come here to meet some people before a show at Largo. Wouldn't let me in because I was wearing shorts from work. Good to know, I will be avoiding this place in the future.

I completely loved this place, but forgot to review it! Great for drinks before a show at the Largo next door.  Great atmosphere, good service. Very much like a cleanish divey speak easy. Ha! Drinks are STRONG! They have entertainment on certain nights.

    Good times!

This bar is the epitome of 'hidden gem'.  You would never expect an old-world saloon to be inside the modern cement building.  A perfect place to grab a drink after the Largo and their prices are decent!  Reminded me a little of Sassafras.

These people know their drinks and set up a good vibe, while somehow managing to keep it as relatively unpretentious as is possible.

I love coming here before shows at the Largo because the Largo's bar is cramped and terrible and cash only. Whereas the Roger Room is behind the facade of a psychic shop for unknown reasons, and the inside is chill, nicely decorated, sometimes uncrowded, and the drinks are *crafted.* My last drink came with a metal straw to improve the experience. But what actually improved the experience was the fact that they hung a candied ginger piece from the edge of the glass with a plastic barrel-o-monkeys toy and it made my night.

The drinks are pricy but worth it. You can see all the things that they put into your drink (all kinds of herbs, syrups, garnishes etc) on the counter, the bartenders seem interested (or at least feign interest) in talking to customers about drinks, and they have fancy glasses! The bar decor is really nice, too. Bar stools are typically horrible but the ones here are nice and not as annoying as they usually are for us shawties.

My friends and I had a hard time finding the place. Outside of their door says "For Lease" and we were able to locate it because of the valet sign that says for The Roger Room.

Anyway, went here with friends and we had the hardest time getting drinks. People at the bar wouldn't move and they just continued talking among themselves. We finally got our drinks after a few people left. I tried a peach and rum drink. It was good but it's quite expensive.

The atmosphere is ok. The music isn't that loud. You're able to hear each other so that's a plus.

After we finished our drinks, we decided to walk around the area. As we walked out, one of the people from the valet asked us where are we going. And we said we were going to walk around. She replied by asking how long were going to take because we can't leave cars after it closes (it was 11pm! And they close at 2am!). I thought that was rude. We already paid for the valet and we just needed some fresh air. We ended up telling her that we'll probably be back around 12 and she said ok. We came back around 12:15 and got our car.

Overall, not my type of place so I wouldn't come back here.

    It's whatever's,
Had 4 drinks and a bill roughly around $70.  Neither drink is worth remembering or even worth mentioning to be honest. This place slightly reminds me of The Varnish downtown but without the 2lb ice cube in your drink. They do use some fresh ingredients and the menu seems so tasty but neither drink I had packed a punch, which is the only reason I am at a bar.  I guess if your in the area check it out. The scene is chill but for the price it's just not worth it.
There needs to be a Tequila section.  You can make my Patron shot all Hipster by tossing it in a shaker, adding ice, some fresh squeezed lemon and poring it into a frozen shot glass.  BAM, $14 shot.

We loved the interesting drinks that went beyond the usual.  Had a great time.  I'm a fan.  Not sure it is worth searching out from outside the area.  The prices were the only negative.

A Hollywood bar that doesn't particularly feel Hollywood. More of a dive vibe than a speakeasy, but in a good way. It's cozy and charming and old, or authentic depending on your viewpoint. Very Art Nouveau inspired decor, which might be why there are a lot of references to speakeasies, but there are no passwords, or hidden entrances.

It's pretty laid back for a bar, moderately busy with a crowd that feels like it belongs there. Lots of older guys with hot young scantily clad women on their arms. Escorts? Daughters? A few groups of the ever present hipsters, but everyone was having a good time.

Drink prices are pretty upscale here, running $14 and more. Probably not crazy for the area, but more than necessary. Still, they make good drinks, well crafted, old school.

Loved the Japanese Maple with the Hello Kitty carefully drawn in the foam on top. There's a great Zucker and Zimmin martini, crafted with blackberries, sugar and cinnamon.

A good place for a drink with friends.

Went last Thursday night with a few girlfriends and promptly claimed real estate at the bar.  Sure there were booths open, as I arrived to meet them around 9PM, but it was so much more fun at the bar!

The boys wear white shirts and suspenders - so cute!  Ty is a doll, he made the best drinks and was fun to chat with to boot.  I asked him to choose anything whiskey or bourbon-based for me, and surprise surprise, the drink he said I should have is called "The Thug."  Highly recommend it.  A few of those, and a Jameson shot with Brian - I was set.

They are super chill here, to the point that they had no problem keeping the ginormous pizza in the back that my friend had delivered because she didnt have dinner!  Love that.

The spot is a a few over to the right from Oakwood, on La Cienega.  Just park on Oakwood on a weekday night; there are tons of spots, meters are free after 8PM.

I don't know if I'd come on a weekend, since the place is cozy, but since it's so closeby, I will definitely be back for a weeknight nightcap.

Real mixology at this bar!  I wish I could have spent more time here, but we were running a little late for a show at Largo next store.  The drink I had was outstanding, however.  I could have had another and another!  I wish I could remember the name.  It was on their cocktail list.  Vodka, ginger, basil and some other ingredients.  What a delight for my mouth!  And since I had to sip it down pretty quick,k what a buzz!  I'll go see a show again at Largo just to get pre-drinks here!  The ambiance and decor was like something out of an old-time speakeasy in a movie that Tom Waits would be singing the soundtrack for.  Way cool and different!

    Classic, speakeasy.

It was so easy speaking at this place. Roger that.

So, we came here last Saturday for a ton of drinks. We accomplished that.

To start, this place didn't even have a sign. I think we walked by it honestly 5 times and didn't even realize it.

Once we started looking for building numbers (370) rather than ROGER ROOM, we found it!

You walk in and it's darker than a Cohen brothers' film. I loved it.

We snagged a booth and everyone ordered drinks.

We chatted, laughed, and drank until bar close.

NOTE: Hailing a cab at this place is hilariously easy.

Drinks were strong and expensive. I ordered just a soda at bar close - 3 bucks. Come on.

    Gorgeous crowd.....really.

    PROS: FUN
    -Cool vibe and atmosphere
    -Old fashioned cocktails
    -Speak easy
    -Location

    CONS: Spendy
    -Hard to find

Check this place out for a few late-night drinks.

    Cheers,

    Sean

Great drinks if you can stand the bartender with a chip on his shoulder.  LA prices.. paid $14 for a drink, but it was good.  I actually liked 3 drinks out of 5 drinks that he made.  Wasn't crazy about his attitude when I didn't like his last creation.  No reason to be offensive to a customer.. or should I say.. a former customer.  I like my drinks without the insults.

Wish I could give it higher rating.  Left with a bad mixology taste in my mouth.

Cool place with a nice, relaxed vibe. Atleast on a Tuesday night. It gets super packed on the weekend. I loved the decor.

I tried the Thug with Bulleit Rye and really enjoyed it. There were almost too many flavors going on for me to enjoy the Bulleit, so I switched to an Old Fashioned, which was perfect.

That said, that's all I get now. Old Fashioned. That's it.

While every says this has a speakeasy vibe, I sort of don't entirely see it. But then again I somewhat do. I mean, it has a slew of Art Nouveau inspired prints on the wall and it does have that very dim lighting. While it's not really heavy handed on the speakeasy fashion, what with a lack of password, no hidden walls - it's still a very early 1900's look and feel to it.

Maybe post-prohibition, you know once prohibition laid the tracks for making it socially acceptable for men and women to be drinking in the same establishment. In saying that, the place does look pretty swell. The down sides though, stick out like a sore thumb.

You have the fact that the limited space here becomes even more limited when it gets busy. At best, this is one of those early bird type of places to go to. Otherwise you're stuck arm touching arm with the fella next to you.

If you do come early, you'll be treated to plenty of personal space and some tasty drinks. They must have made the best Moscow Mule i have had in the mid city area. Sadly there's a downside to this as well - the price. You're facing a stiff $14 and above per drink. Which isn't too terrible, especially for the quality of drink you are getting and the level of service provided, but it's still on the higher side than what one is used to.

Casual, unpretentious speakeasy in Beverly Hills.  A group of friends and I came here after grabbing dinner on West 3rd on a Saturday night.

The drinks were unique and delicious with your average LA price tag.  Service was good.  The space is small and cozy.  We had a party of 7 and were able to snag seats without a problem.  Will be back!

A great casual speakeasy. Drinks were stiff and the staff was awesome - I'd definitely recommend this spot to friends. The only downfall was how crowded it got on this Friday night.  I ended up trading my Japanese Maple with my date (which was perfect for her since it was sweet) with one of the spicy drinks under the tequila section that had a real kick!

Unless you have a booth I wouldn't expect anyone to spend the whole night there. But it definitely deserves to be tried out.

*When looking for the Roger Room - look for a door left of the neon palm reading signs which are next to the Largo Theater.

I loved my experience at The Rodger Room! I mean, I spent $14 on a cocktail, but it was a Wednesday night and I didn't want more than a couple of drinks anyways.

We grabbed a little booth, which was cozy, and shared a nice conversation. Tasty drink, friendly bartender, friendly door guy, cool ambiance. The details of this place makes it cool and classy. My favorite thing was the tarnish on the ceiling mirrors, It just transports you back in time!

The overall clientele wasn't super appealing, but I'd definitely go back with a friend or my boyfriend if we were on that side of town already.

Expensive drinks - but strong! I had 2 of the Spicy Mules and I had a good buzz. One more would have put me over - and I would consider myself a "medium weight drinker" (not quite light not quite heavy). Really good drinks too. I was a bit skeptical based on the reviews here on their mixed drinks but I enjoyed mine and so did my sister who was with me and order something completely different than I did.

The bartenders are super nice too. It was cool night so I purchased a tall Starbucks coffee for the walk over which I finished by the time I got to RR. No trash cans in sight, I walked in with an empty Starbucks cup and placed it on the bar (I was going to ask the bartender if he could throw it out for me). When the Bartender approached, I was asked told in the nicest, kindest tone ever that outside drinks and food weren't allowed (obviously not a problem since it was empty). When I told him it was empty, he laughed cracked a joke and I did not feel like I was put on the spot the way other establishments make you feel when this situation comes up.

I'm definitely going back - such a chill environment. I'm not sure what LA's definition of hipsters is, but it's definitely not the same as Philadelphia's. The Tuesday night crowd were a bunch of young professionals and all were super nice. Unless I missed it or went on the wrong day, I did not see any hipsters (Philadelphia's definition are sometimes young professionals yes, but they tend to be very eco friendly, artsy, have a particular style, a bit cutting edge but not really, ride bikes etc., today's hippy)

This is a great bar. You can't go here to spend a whole evening, nor could you come in with a wolfpack full of people.  But show up with a friend or two, prepare to sit down and have a quiet, delicious, classy (and expensive) cocktail or two, and just relax. Enjoy yourself.

i'm so disappointed. I guess I should've taken the cue from some of the reviews but their specialty house drinks are disgusting. I couldn't drink them.
The interior was amazing, crowd was fun-loving, but based on something so controlled by the establishment as house drinks, they fail. I probably will return, but for a vodka+soda or beer. Nothing fancy!

I'd have to say... I've been to many bars but none come as close to the level of the Roger Room in terms of the quality of cocktails. The bartenders here truly live up to the term "mixologists."

Drinks: Awesome but on the pricey side.
    1) Four Aces - this was such a huge hit. I'd have to say I NEED to learn how to make this because this is by far, my favorite cocktail. I believe it contains Vodka, basil, grapes, lime juice, and some ginger liqueur. Strong, yet so refreshing and delicious..

    2) Whiskey drinks - I think I tried pretty much the ones on the menu and they were all awesome. If you're a whiskey drinker, then you should definitely check these out.

    Ambiance and Decor:
Very dark and dimly lit. Perfect for a chill date night. The place is very small and very easy to miss. There's no sign, just a BLACK DOOR with a guy outside.  The tables are small so it's not ideal for large groups. BE CAREFUL on your way out. There's a curtain that blocks your view of the door, which I ran into since that damn curtain obstructed my view!! Why would they put that there?! I wonder how many people ran into that door?

    Service:
The bartenders are efficient and are very friendly. Consistent friendly service.

    Parking:
Valet and metered street parking. You can try to park in the neighborhoods, but you'll have to walk a bit if you don't want to pay for parking.

    Pros:
-Cool Space; I had to be shepherded into The Roger Room by a regular because I wasn't cool enough to figure out that the unmarked entrance, mere yards from my place, led to a well-established and happening speakeasy and not to the greenroom of the bizarre cabaret theatre next door. The mural-tastic wall-art and outfits of the bar-tending, stewards of the 20's also played into the theme. As for the layout see #1 below.

-Amazing Drinks; The drink with cucumber foam is honestly one of the better drinks I've had in my drinking life. In addition, their whiskey drinks are bar-none, well perhaps bar a whiskey place. The cucumber-foam-drink itself gets 5 stars - its delicious!. (For the frugal, see #2 below).

-Cool People; (but also see #3 below). My life's research indicates that there is a VERY fine line between hip, urban, progressive, cool and douche. The Roger Room perfectly straddles that line. Just the right proportions of each. Whether you love or hate your neighbor depends on total chance at the RR.

    Cons:
-Cool space; When it's busy, personal space is very limited (READ: It gets packed as hell). If I don't luck out in getting a table or stool, I end up being moshed into the bathroom door, dodging elbows and the wait staff. Conversation is also painful and strained under said conditions.

-Amazing Drinks. Amazing also translates into $$$. NOT that it's a bad thing. It just may run near triple digits for 2-3 rounds for 2-3 people (at $12-15 per drink)

-Cool People; Per the above, you may be in for poser-fest 3000 should you come to RR at the precise wrong time.

    Laidback speakeasy-style bar.

Came here on a Sunday night around midnight and while the place wasn't popping, it still had a good amount of crowd.  A little older than what I am used to, but a nice change from the usual UCLA crowd that I see around the area.

Didn't really get to try any of their specialty drinks since it was an "Old-Fashioned" sorta night.  The drinks my friends were trying looked great so I sorta regretted, but they do make a good Old-Fashioned!They do make a good Old-Fashioned.

I didn't bother with valet since there was plenty of metered spots around, but then again, it was on a Sunday :P

I cannot believe the favorable reviews.. It is shocking that there was only one review that mentioned the excessive blending of spirits with disgusting results.

While reading the reviews i was excited... this would have been the closest spot to my house to have some well crafted cocktails. - If only they were done well.

Not only were the prices on their garish menus 40 percent more than you would expect for good cocktails, but the two i tasted were bad enough that I wouldn't return  even if someone else sponsored my drinking.

Mixology is about so much more than just dumping a bunch of different spirits and alcohol in a glass....When I took that first sip.. I thought.. did they just wing this? was this extemporaneous?

enough, though, go to copa d' oro and get good drinks. forget this throwback fail

I've always loved RR, but considering I'd been to 3 Largo shows recently and hadn't had time to partake, I started forgetting how good it was - ALMOST!

We popped in before the Jeff Garlin/Jeff Tweedy show and it perfectly eased us into a great night!  Yes, the drinks are pricey ($14ish), and though I'm a typical Asian girl with low tolerance - they are strong and high quality (no bartenders here, only "mixologists"!).  So it's kinda like you're getting 2 drinks for the price of 1.  My go to drink is the Four Aces (refreshing, mojito-like, and with basil!).  I also love that they serve it with a silver spoon/straw (such a cool touch that I'm always tempted to be a klepto and put one in my purse, but to date I've kindly refrained).  My bf got the Thug and it was tasty but wow, very whiskey-ey (yes, I just made up that word - admit it, you know exactly what I mean).

Although they don't serve food, I also love that they let you order in pizza (I've yet to do it, but it's bound to happen some day).  Also, service has always been great but I recommend going during off-peak hours (e.g., prior to a Largo show) when you can snag a booth 'cause it gets pretty crowded on Fridays/weekends.

Just like the "Yes" coasters on the table, I say YES please to RR!

This bar is hard to define.  On paper its a bit hoity toity because of the specialty drinks, the clothes of the bartenders and waiters, and the prices.  But the crowd is pretty diverse and very friendly.  They really do a good job of serving unique drinks and having their own style, without feeling too stuffy.

    Try the Thug, it's great!

There is a certain group of 20- and 30-somethings, successful or attractive or both, for which the Roger Room is a weeknight dive bar where sorrows are drowned and sins forgiven.

In fact, the only pretensions to the Roger Room are some of the people getting trashed in it. I happen to really like the bar--the staff is welcoming and helpful, and they prepare a long menu of interesting and mostly well balanced cocktails that are perfectly at home in the dark, kitschy space. Come prepared to spend--cocktails like this cost what they cost in LA (the cost of living in paradise), and you will feel the inclination to tip especially well.

Try it, see if you like it. You might fancy yourself a regular.
