How is this place still open? Â It's a DISASTER. Don't go to any "Event."
Next time Nirvana has a "Record Release Party" for "Daft Punk" I'll skip it. Â
First off, there was a "guest list"... but I'm guessing the shady $5 cover was for the broke owner. Â Have you ever been put on an elite Hollywood event list, then asked to pay a measly cover charge? Â It's sad really. Â
Secondly, "Open Bar" (just one hour) consisted of drinks with only "rosemary infused vodka"... Vodka that was most likely laying on the kitchen floor ready to be tossed out for the last two years. Â A teenager wouldn't even drink that crap. Â And one of the two bartenders (a dude) would conveniently go missing for 15min at a time. Â Awesome... I love waiting for rosemary & Redbull concoctions. Â Gross.
By the way - NOTHING about this party included Daft Punk.... With the exception of a mediocre DJ who bought a Daft Punk helmet on Ebay for $400 (yes, seriously) & tried to fool the audience. Â Now, the promoter's "plan" could have worked for a room of wasted ignorants, but nobody could swallow another drink best served at Olive Garden. Â
Lastly, shame on them for naming their restaurant after the greatest rock band of all time. Â A#$holes.
Nirvana is more than just a restaurant, it's the very definition of a dining experience. Everything from the lighting, to the decor, the art depicting scenes from the Kama Sutra, to the food, is just very erotic. This is the most sensually romantic restaurant I've ever been to. I absolutely love this place!
It is expensive and will run you about $50 per person. But this is one of the few restaurants where it's really worth it.
The food isn't your typical Indian fare, if anything I suppose you can call it Indian fine dining. I really like the Indian spiced crab cakes, the rum marinated-Indian dry rub spiced, tandoor roasted lamb with mashed potatoes, and the stir fried karahi style shrimp with basmati rice. For dessert, go for the mango Napoleon which consists of a rich cream and mango slices in a thin caramelized pastry shell, with mango sauce.
Drinks are average priced for LA hot spots, in the $12 range. I would recommend the mango mojito.
If a night at Nirvana doesn't get you in the mood then I don't know what will!
I do not understand the low reviews except that people are ordering the wrong thing, and dont understand the concept.
I have to admit its not your typical restaurant at all.
The front of the place is set up like a normal restaurant for people who dont want to have an experience. The rest of the place is like a weird club where you sit on couches/beds and eat food from a tiny table. They have a VIP room thats a big sitting area with a table and an entire backyard for large parties. They have a funky atmosphere and decor and the drinks are amazing.
It really does feel like a club though.
The food is amazing. My pakistani friends love it and so do I. The best thing there is the samosas appetizer and the lobster tandoori entree. The chicken tikka masala is a perfect dish for a non-indian eater, and the stuffed naan is to die for. Also try the mango lassi.
if you can't handle Nirvana, go across the street to its loser brother Bombay Palace.
