Rose Tree Park also has a Fall Hawkwatching Station--just behind the gazebo. Since 1999, the Rose Tree Park Hawkwatch has been counting migrating raptors in flight above the park. In 2010, we counted 6,771 hawks, eagles, and falcons at our site. We are there 9-4 daily, 01 September -30 November
Review Source:This is one of the finest parks in Delaware County. Â I'll focus on the pavilion. Â It is awesome. Â The audio is great. Â The lighting is amazing. Â The sight lines are super. Â It is a fantastic place to go to a concert with a picnic lunch or dinner. Â Check the website for activities.
Review Source:Quiet, clean, HUGE, and they have a community garden (plots available for $30 rent). Â I'm not sure how any of this is really the definition of "gone downhill," but frankly, don't listen to TH. Â Bonus, it's pretty close to the Media Trader Joe's, so you can totally grab some picnic fixins on the way out.
I'm planning on spending a lot of time here over this summer. Â If I'm lucky, this might even be the summer I /don't/ look ghostly white!
Not only does Rose Tree Park have free outdoor concerts at their charming amphitheater, the rolling green space features a few great short walking/running trails that get you out of the sun and closer to the dirt!
Be sure to hit the water pump at the main entrance when your run leaves you in need of a cold drink.
Heres What You Do.
Go to the Deleware County Parks web site( http://www.co.delaware.p…) to download the Free Summer Concert Schedule. Find the concert that interests you the most( We like the Ballet, Blackthorn(irish) Volcano Choy (hawaiian)) There are many to choose from, there is a concert almost every night in the summer.
Then make a day of it. Rose tree Park is a vast open field park, great for kite flying, frisbee, getting naked and rolling in the grass. They also have a trail in the woods which is a fun walk.
Bring the Pets! Bring the kids!( one drawback for me is that there is no playground, but for some that may be a plus)
The Concerts usually start at 7:30pm so plan the day accordingly, the lots WILL fill up. We usually go to a great pizza place nearby La Forno ( just a little further down on 252 .Review to follow) and pick up a pizza or sandwiches. Or you can hit the Bakery Terstappens if you go in the AM. Both have been in Delcos best so you KNOW its good!
There are multiple places to picnic, so just throw down.
You can thank me later.
