I love that they have a wide selection of gluten free items (including pita!) and they are very cautious about preventing cross contamination. Â They are super active in the gluten free/celiac community so I give them huge props for that.
On the downsize though, I'm not that thrilled with the food. It's OK, but I'm spoiled with TAZA being so authentic and insanely delicious that it makes Roti like the Taco Bell of Mediterranean food. But they have gluten free pita and that's what brings me back when i crave a pita with my shwarma.
I never stepped foot in the restaurant.... Â had food catered to office. Â Thanks for making look like a hero. Â I ordered the Roti sandwich with two sides and let me tell you, the sandwiches were fantastic, so tastey, the salad was amazing, great ingredients. and we did the hummas with chips side. Â that was a hit. Everything was super fresh and tasty, the cookies were awesome. We will def order again, it was so easy and they deliver!!!!!!! Â I wish they had this in the burbs!
Review Source:The food here is so flavorful. Â I ordered a salad and was surprised about what all I could choose from to include on it (of course lettuce, chicken, feta, hummus, onions, broccoli, olives, eggplant, etc). Â The pitas are made as you order and are so tasty! Â What a great idea... like a Mediterranean Chipotle. Â I SO wish this chain would come down South. Â Only negative thing I can say is that it's SO loud in here that you truly cannot have a conversation without yelling.
Review Source:It's the Chipotle of mediterranean food. The line looks daunty but it goes by quickly. I prefer the salad, as I feel they give me more of the toppings. Price is good, relatively healthy, and plenty of seating. Good place to come out with coworkers or to meet up with friends for lunch.
Review Source:This place, I come here so often... Â it's a block from the office, it's got felafel, hummus, all in salad form (complete with a fresh baked pita on the side). Â So tasty. Â
I'm always surprised how quickly they get thru the crowd, even when the line is out the door. Â So service is good for a loud, cafeteria style ordering setup. Â I've never had an issue here and the food never seems to last long to go stale or old, so it's always tasting fresh. Â
I can't have Pita Inn downtown, but this seems the next best thing. Â I do reccomend.
Whoa! I had no idea this place was so fantastic until I decided to stop in there on Saturday to get some food to help my very bad wine hangover.
They made one of the best pita sandwiches that I've ever had. It was filled with falafel, dill sauce and a spicy red sauce and all kinds of fresh tasty toppings. There are so many! The pita was also made fresh to order.
It's a great little place to stop into for lunch, especially if you are wanting fresh, healthy fare that is priced just right.
Plus, the guys who make your sandwiches are cutie pies who are very friendly! Nice bonus. : -)
I do love Roti. Â Possibly evidenced by my ambassadorhood of the Adams Street store which I've been to a bazillion times. Â Roti is fresh, good, has lots of options, and is reasonably priced.
I occasionally cheat on my first love though, the Adams Street store, and go to Randolph. It's on my way to work and closer to my office. So, I like this place too. Lunch is exactly the same as other Roti's, delicious. Breakfast is better at Adams.
I like the outdoor seating option at this one. Although, thanks to the genius who decided Chicago should have a massive, rumbling, fricking annoying, loud and obnoxious elevated train that causes people to stop from deafness in middle of conversations all throughout the city, the El, occasionally disrupts conversations while you're sitting outside here as well.
Overall it's good. (Still love you the most, Adams Street)
Love this place. Â This is one of my fave lunch places in the Loop. Â There are a variety of options. Â You can order a salad, a sandwich, or a Mediterranean plate with either steak, chicken, or have it vegetarian and can add a number of different toppings. Â They are very generous with their portions (the salad I ordered the other day was fit for two people) and their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Â Like today, I ordered the falalel sandwich for $3 and I got to put as many toppings on it as I wanted. Â Mmmm...it resulted in a very full and happy me. Â
Also just wanted to add - kudos to the staff at this location. Â I was going to buy a homeless man dinner here one day but they ended up paying for it. Â That was incredibly nice of them.
Roti is one of my favorite lunch spots in the loop. You can get a salad, sandwich or a plate. Â I always get a salad and am never disappointed. Â The meat is so delicious and the hummus and pita bread hit the spot. Â The falafel is great! Â The lines can be very long during the lunch rush but they move pretty quickly and you can almost always find a seat. Â I highly recommend this place. Â It is fast and relatively healthy. They are a little on the pricey side but you have to treat yourself, right?
Review Source:Let me start by saying I wanted to love this place. The interior is great really nicely done from a brand perspective. The staff was very accommodating but the operational design is flawed. The ordering takes place at the opposite end of the restaurant from the door which makes for a lot of congestion and weird walking/searching patterns for a first time guest it can be a little weird and confusing. The food was average with my Steak Roti being very good but my wife's Roti Chicken salad being very bad. I would give it another try on a return trip to the windy city but won't be recommending it to may friends until I can judge one more time.
Review Source:I'm debating giving Roti 3 or 4 stars..I enjoyed the falafel as it is a bit softer than a lot of the NY street carts, and I actually appreciate that. It's crispy on the outside with a nice blend of crushed and whole lentils/chickpeas on the inside. The hummus was pretty good and I didn't try the bread which seemed soft and fresh, but the sides really fell off for me. The tomato cucumber salad was mushy and lackluster, and nothing had any stand out flavors.
Review Source:This is a nice concept for a lunch option. Â I tried the steak roti platter. Â The steak was good and well-spiced. Â The Hummus was unremarkable, as was the couscous. Â Out the door for $10 after fountain drink is pretty typical. Â I'd definitely put it in the rotation, but I won't run back.
Review Source:I've tried this Roti location twice, once with a chicken plate and once with a chicken gyro. Â The food just isn't very good and too expensive. Â Both times I felt like I was getitng lukewarm meat soaking in oil. Â The flavors and sides aren't bad, but there is nothing great about this place.
Poor meat, good toppings, meh experience.
Roti is a great, relatively healthy place to grab lunch. Â Imagine a Mediterranean Chipotle and that's Roti (take that as you will). Â You have your choice of a sandwich, salad or plate. Â Then you pick your meat and your toppings. Â The food is tasty and fresh. Â And the pita bread is to die for! Â I'm a big fan of their spicy sauce, hummus and cucumber and tomato salad. Â
However, do NOT under any circumstance go there for lunch if you're in a hurry. Â The line moves extremely slowly (expect to wait 15-20 minutes). Â As a result, the servers aren't the friendliest at lunch time. Â But if you have the time to wait (or if you order ahead online), it's worth it.
Had a co-worker friend of mine bring me here last week after he had dubbed this the best falafel in the loop area. Â I have to say that it was very good. Â Nothing amazing, and I felt like a few of the usual toppings were missing amongst the choices, but still wasn't by any means bad. Â Huge line at lunch time, so be ready to wait a bit!
Review Source:Roti is one of the MANY "Mediterranean" places now operating in the Loop, serving quick and healthy food. Â I approve of this development. Â The room is nice, the hours are great, and the service is efficient and friendly. Â Unfortunately, the food is simply mediocre and somewhat overpriced. Â It's not the worst Mediterranean option in the Loop, but it's far from the best. Â Given the fierce competition in the area, that warrants only 2 stars, and I won't be back.
My chicken wrap contained about 3 oz. of chicken for which they charge over $7 with tax. Â The chicken was very bland, though the toppings were good, so load up on these.
This place is great! Â I love that you can get a FRESH, healthy salad in the Loop that isn't just the same, boring crap. Â This place has two different kinds of chicken to choose from (in addition to the other meats) lots of fresh toppings like cucumber and tomato salad, hummus, cabbage slaw etc and very quick service. Â
The salads are always flavorful and satisfying. Â I've been there four times already and will be back again and again!
Total fan of this place. Roti spiced chicken salad was great. Lots of dressing choices, and great salad toppings unlike many or any other salad places: roasted eggplant, hummus (obviously), cous cous. Amount of chicken on the salad was perfect as well.
Service was fast, friendly, and the place was clean. Looking forward to going back.
Imagine Chipotle for med food and you have Roti. We went in at noon on a Thursday or Friday. I was really surprised at the queue... Well, not really. But I am not used to the wait in the West Loop or Greektown. But it was worth it.
We did the queue in about 15 minutes. The signs are well-marked and obvious what you need to do even though they have a big selection and many options. I chose the chicken with some baba ganouj and mixed veg. All the sides were cold -- not left-out cold but served that way intentionally. I was not worried, but my friend was a little surprised.
Getting a seat was another challenge. It didn't take long but we had to sit family style. I don't mind this as everyone just does it like it's an everyday thing, but if you are looking for an intimate lunch, this might not be the place for you.
With a soda, it was $9 all in. Not bad, but a tad little pricey.
Exceptional customer service, delicious food and the perfect location, Roti has arrived and we were in desperate need of some yummy Med food at Franklin and Wells. Lina (general manager) welcomes everyone with a friendly smile and will work with anyone who has not been satisfied by their service/experience. She is a true asset to the Roti family..
Please remember that lunchtime downtown tends to be busy, if you are patient and enjoy yummy Mediterranean food you will not be disappointed. The fast casual dining set up may seem overwhelming walking down the assembly line (so many choices) I would recommend checking out the menu online before you go.
In addition, their general manager Lina and catering manager Julie are wonderful to work with. We catered a lunch with the Mediterranean Tasting Platter and a dessert tray. I saw many of my coworkers go up for seconds and third helpings!
Got here on a Wednesday about 1pm...man the line was intimidating..but it does move really really fast...and wow does it smell good!
The service here is really fast and friendly...you basically wait in line and then its like an assembly line to get your food....easy enough.
I had the falafel wrap with basically everything and omg I devoured it like I hadn't eaten in like three weeks! Â It was sooo good!
The place was very clean, and the prices are fair...nothing fancy drink wise.
Love their outdoor patio..though does tend to get loud with the El right above.
The only thing about this place that made me gasp was that I went on the website after eating there and looked up nutritional info..my falafel wrap was 1013 calories...Holy Sh*T! Â back to the gym..!!
i had roti before a couple years ago and had it again this past week.
the first time i had a plate of i forgot what but i remembered it being good.
last week i had the chicken wrap and falafels.
came here for lunch and my goodness. the line was super long!
there's a sign at the end of the line that says "5 minutes". assuming that there is a 5 minute wait til you get to order? Â because that's around the amount of time it took us to order our food then the rest was a speedy process. there were so many people in line ahead of us but it did not take a long time for us to get our food.
i enjoyed the chicken wrap. esp with all the sauces!
i like everything in my wrap so it was ginormous but it wasn't a messy meal at all.
falafels were good also. not sure how it would taste in the wrap but i prefer it on the side.
good portion, good price.
A rather tasty modern take on quick server Mediterranean food. As is becoming common with fast-casual restaurants, their menu offers a build-our-own selection where one chooses meal type, i.e. wrap, pita or platter, then your choice of meat, sauce and vegetables. Moving down the assembly line each station had its own server. All in all the food was fresh, fast and tasty.
Review Source:I remember when Roti first opened over a year ago. I was lucky enough to get several sample plates for free and always remembered how great the falafels and hummus were...
Then, I switched jobs and found myself farther away from Roti. BUT ALAS, Roti opened up more locations! And in addition, my new company received half off any order for an entire week. Yea, daz right.
I will say that you can't go wrong with any decision here at Roti. That being said, I find that the salads are amazing with chicken shawarma. That doesn't mean everything else sucks, it just means that might be my favorite....for now.
The meat (chicken or beef) is tender and flavorful and ALL of the sides are seasoned and super fresh. My favorite dressing is the spicy sauce and the aoili. The only way you can compare Roti to Chipotle would be by design only. Yes, it's a line where you point at what you want and they slap it on there, but the ingredients alone make Roti stand out like sore (but delicious) thumb. Sounds gross? Not at all...
If you're deciding on a lunch choice in the loop, look no further. Really...don't even bother going anywhere else cuz it prob can't even compare :)
Roti is this fat girl's new favorite chain restaurant.
Hasta la vista, McDonalds(Sorry, I had to insert an Arnold joke)! Eff you!
I have no idea if any of the food tastes authentic, but it's pretty damned good.
I have come here on two separate occasions, and both times, Roti has won me over. My first time, I had a 50% coupon (thank you, employer!) and I got myself a plate with rice, steak, cucumber and tomato salad, couscous, and feta cheese. Holy freaking hell, it tasted amazing! And It was a lot of food, so I got filled up for around $5 with a drink. (Without the coupon, I probably would have paid $8-$9).
The 2nd time I came in, I got the pita sandwich with some other stuff that I can't even remember, but it was awesome! And that pita bread is soooooooooft. I also had a coupon for some free falafel that I forgot to use my first time there, so I also got to try that. The falafel was extremely tasty and you can definitely tell that everything was made fresh. They also gave me this sauce that looked like thousand island dressing, but I forgot what it's called. The sauce was mildly spicy and tasted great on the falafel.
It's going to be extremely difficult for me to try not to come here to eat here too often. It is THAT GOOD.
Despite the fact that the lines are hella long when you walk in, it moves pretty quickly! Now that's service!
My office orderered catering from Roti and the food was not good at all. Â Maybe they just had an off day. Â The food was half an hour late, and when it finally arrived it was cold. Â the falafal and shwarma were rubbery and had no texture. Â they also didn't bring utensils so we had to use soup spoons to serve everything.
Review Source:Well.... this place is a chain, but..... absolutely delicious!
The fact that you can order online and take your time choosing the ingredients makes it the bomb digity. Conveniently located downtown with multiple location, this place is a nice place to stop by for lunch on any given day. It may look like any other assembly line modern fast food joint, but the food is quality.
We ordered a plate and a salad. Had the steak roti in the plate with some cous cous, hummus, and eggplants, and oh man, it was delicious. The meat was tender and well seasoned, the other ingredients went really well with the flavor of the meat. The spicy sauce (forget the name) was really a good complement to the steak. For the salad we got the chicken roti and it was really well flavored and tender (I always expect chicken to be overcooked and dry b/c that's what I usually find in places where food fast is the moto, thus whenever I actually get tender, juicy chicken it's always a pleasant surprise).
This place is more, way more than serviceable as a lunchspot and I will definitely be coming back in the future.
I was in search of a delious, healthy, fresh breakfast around 8:15 a.m. Â I Â didn't want a nastified Dunkin Donuts pancake sandwich heart attack. Â I was ok with heading to Jamba Juice until I saw a guy carrying a brown paper bag with a red O and a line over it.
I had never seen the logo before but it looked non-fast foody. Â Shortly after I stumbled upon Roti. Â 100% on customer service. Â Very good at personalizing the experience. Â I was greeted with a smile and a, "Can I help you miss?". Â I placed my order, the Conquistador breakfast wrap and was taken care of right away.
My wrap was $3.50 plus tax. Â I ate half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. Â FRESH avocado, feta, spicy sauce, eggs and chicken sausage. Â
In hustle and bustle of the loop, this place is all-around satisfying.
I would like to extend me gratitude to you based on your deliciously tempting deal you have offered to my organization. Â 50% of food during your opening week? Â You are just so overly generous. Â What's that you say? Â You did it to see if I would come back everyday this week? Â Oh, you're trickery will never get me! Â I am smart enough to not fall for your ploy for a delicious Roti sandwich and your still warm and crispy falafel. Â
I will shall not, nay, I will not return again this week.. Â
See you this for lunch!
DOH!
Rotiiiiiiiiiii. My Albany Park sensibilities gives me depth perception on Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare. From the neighborhood that brought you THE BEST FALAFEL in the world, I went to Roti today to investigate the new latest downtown location.
Well being new and being 11:50AM, the line was nearly rolling out the door. Despite this, the line kept shuffling and moving and people behind the counter were skewering chicken, shaving off hunks of meat, loading up plates, rolling up wraps, and ringing up the downtown collared shirts on quite a successful opening launch.
Free hummus and pita chips while waiting in line were an unexpected welcome as well as the very fast line. Looking at the menu and what other people sitting down were eating, the double chicken kabob plate made the most sense to me and was served up with some great rice, feta cheese, onion, and eggplant.
Me and my coworkers were ready to take it back to our desks but a big table opened up and we all sat down to eat our foods. A few people got wraps, a few salads, and one person even had soup. As for my food the chicken came off the skewer without too much hassle and my plate came with a free piece of pita bread. I packed everything into the  pocket and made myself a great pita with well-cooked chicken skewers and some tasty filling.
One knock is that the falafel is completely underwhelming and needs work on its texture. Chop it up finer, cook it up crisper and that falafel could one day be Albany Park good. As for the rest, I'll take what I can get downtown and it's a refreshing change of pace and atmosphere.
New lunch spot across the street from the job! You damn right!
Saw one of their employees giving out free falafel coupons the other day, so I definitely grabbed one.
Walked in at 11:40 today and it wasn't crowded yet (gets packed after 12).
Walked over to the assembly line and got my falafel hooked up with all the trimmings. One of the best falafels I have ever had! I also heard the Mediterranean Plate is pretty good too. Very nice peeps work here...hope it remains that way
Due to its closeness to my job, I will probably be a frequent customer.
Have to say the quality is very high, had the Roti Chicken plate with hummus, baba ganouch and cucumber/tomato salad. Â The place only opened a week ago, so forgetting to include the pita is forgivable. Â I'm used to the more-authentic Taza that's nearby, and a better bang for the buck in my opinion. Â The rice on the plate was forgettable. Â The falafel on the side was terrible. Â The super-spicy sauce, is not super spicy, which is fine by me, but I swear it's made with ketchup, which just takes away from it in a really big way. Â Chicken was spectacular and the other 'toppings" were first rate. Â It's OK, we'll probably be back to try a sandwich on haffa to see how that is.
Review Source:Dear Roti,
You make me sit at my desk and contemplate, "is Roti for lunch and Roti for dinner really so bad?"
This new addition to the Roti family is only a block from my work (cue angels singing) and it's so clean and pretty and efficient.
The food is always tasty and and consistency is a huge bonus in my book. Also, I can place my order online and pick it up...totally bypassing the line of hungry loopers.
I heart Roti.
