I have been here twice. Â The owners seem nice enough but the food is kind of bad. Â I had a hot dog and the hot dog was not very flavorful. Â The bread tasted stale and totally bland. Â They just seemed like they were the cheapest of the cheap. Â Prices are so-so, but not worth the food. Â There are so many hot dog places around here that I would not come here again.
Review Source:I eat here 1-2 times a week for lunch since it is right across the street from my workplace (Mesirow Building). They have a $6 lunch special everyday and their chicken tenders and chicken pesto sandwich are very good. I don't eat many salads but co-workers of mine seem to really like their salads a lot. The staff is super friendly and know I LOVE the chicken pesto sandwich that is only served on certain days and let me order it any time which I LOVE. Thanks guys!
They also have breakfast and I am told it is very tasty.
Cheap, Good food, Friendly staff, Great lunch spot in river north. True HOLE IN THE WALL.
3 words to describe this place: Â Inexpensive, Good and Dive.
This place is a greasy spoon/diner that is run by a very nice couple. Â The food is no frills but very good. Â They have a daily special that runs under $6 and includes fries and pop. Â
The menu is basic, several breakfast items and some basic sandwiches. Â Their daily specials are good and they make great soup. Â
Good place to run into if you are pressed for time and/or money but want a decent meal.
Biker bar is to bikers as Sam's Grill is to construction workers. Â All of the big brute men with hard hats and me and my fellow nerds coming from the nerdery with our calculators. Â Anywho, had the turkey club and soup. Â I believe there was one piece of chicken in the chicken noodle, one more than Shalom Deli and the sandwich was nothing special... whatsoever. Â So if you like white bread sandwiches, no options and chickenless noodle soup, Sam's is where you want to be.
Review Source:Sam's is a nice lunch spot. They have daily lunch specials for $5.50 with fries and a soda which isn't bad for lunch downtown. It can get a bit confusing though as multiple people will order the same special- so when they call out 'Patty Melt' you kind of look sheepishly at one another and slowly drag the plate off the counter.
Review Source:This easygoing diner has a nondescript location on North Clark between a minimart and an adult bookstore, so you can easily miss this joint. This is a popular spot to get a filling breakfast, featuring skillet faves like eggs, pancakes, hash browns, or bacon. The lunch menu includes alI-American fare like burgers, fries, hot dogs, and meat loaf. I used to work with a guy who swears that after eating the fries from Sam's, he would feel sleepy. I guess this was a complement, though an afternoon siesta was never on the agenda at our office.
