So a friend of mine was telling me of her over abundance of cherry tomatoes that were growing out of her garden and was offering them up, but with one caveat, I had to come to where she was bartending and have a beer (or beverage). Ok, that's fair! I had heard of Seidenfaden's located in the neighborhood known as Germantown in Louisville, for after all, it has been an institution for the past 85 years there. Quaint, unassuming building, except for the iron bars on the windows and semi-secured doors open to what can be described as a dive. Dark except for the dimmed lights, neon signs and two large flat screen TV's. There was one stand along video game in the bar area with several seats at the old Chestnut bar and a couple of tables and booths. Behind the bar was a full arsenal of spirits and liquors and the tap had about 6 or 7 choices, from Falls City Beer to Hoptimus from BBC. Of course there was the package beer case and on the other side of the bar was the cafe, just as small, but closed when I was there. The prices for the libations were very reasonable and the usual clientele, a lot of fun. They do have nights for Karaoke and even have Movie Nights and Live Music too....so check your local listings. Fun times were had by all last night and the tomatoes were really good too.
