In Louisville for a conference and looking for a little dive to try out with 3 guys. Saw the reviews here, and figured it was worth a try. It is 3 miles from the convention center so it was easy yo get to.
We got in and the place was crowded, one of the locals pointed to the back room and told us more seats were there. We sat for a few minutes waiting for the server and they never showed up. I asked someone and they said your order at the bar.
Once we saw the menu on the wall everything looked great. I got a pork tenderloin sandwich, which was fantastic, a bowl of chili and a pitcher of domestic beer for $12. I was floored as typically a pitcher of beer is just $12. Everyone's food was great and I highly recommend. The only reason i did give 5 starts was because i didn't know what to do when we got there.
Love Check's. You'll see all kinds of people here - families, bar hoppers, and the elderly. Lots of TVs for game watching. Good bar food - recommend the buffalo tenders and cheeseburgers, but I haven't had anything I didn't like. They have specials every day of the week. What puts Check's over the top, though, is Big Bill who you'll always find behind the bar. Ask for the Big Bill's special drink (he makes a mean fruity cup of booze juice)! He makes friends with every person who walks in. Good food, good people, great place.
