Went during First Fridays, despite the large crowds we weren't in line very long before our order was taken. We decided to get the 5 flavors for $15. We picked the limey bastard, Rockefeller, Purple Rain, a kick to the peaches, and sailors gold. We did not care for purple rain, that is the only flavor that I would not recommend, it was super sweet and the flavors made me want to gag. My boyfriend's favorite was the Rockefeller, tasted pretty manly for a slushy drink. I loved the limey bastard which was really refreshing. The flavors were more complex than I expected. I loved the location and the big open garage windows at the front of the building. I thought it was pretty hot in there on a 70 degree day so I'm sure it gets super hot in the summer months, hence the alcoholic slushy.
Review Source:The drinks were fine and the open air space is great. But stay away from the FOOD. Not at all good (and overpriced, too). A very mediocre panini served with potato chips is $9 and came out cold. I think they'd be better off sticking to cold appetizers. FYI, their deals on Yelp and Groupon are ONLY good for food - can't be used for drinks.
Review Source:Snow & Co is the place to go!! (I'm a poet and I...)
So I finally got to see/taste what the buzz is about and definitely for sure the buzz is worth going to check out. We got there right when Snow & Co opened on a Saturday afternoon so we had the place all to ourselves. Couches were super comfortable and I can imagine how amazing it will be once this weather settles down and their garage doors are open. The Four Cheese Panini is simple yet satisfying. My boyfriend and I split the greek salad; it was fresh and crisp. Definitely a good size for a meal or split between 2 or 3 as a side. We also tried the cheese flatbread and it was really delicious! I can't say enough nice things.
Now on for the drinks... We split up a flight of five to get a little variety. We had: The Rockefeller, The Limey Bastard, Ms. Scarlet, A Kick To The Peaches and the O'Connell (in place of Elbow's Sexual Chocolate...which they were out of). Definitely my favorite was the O'Connell; their Jameson blend. A close second would definitely be The Limey Bastard. Fair warning: they don't offer the O'Connell in the Double Snow. If I had it my way, I'd get the whole flight O'Connell!
Counting down the days I go back; might as well sign me up to be a regular. Well played, Snow & Co!
We went here the other night after dinner just to check it out. We kept hearing about it and I have to say...I was a little disappointed. It was not busy at all, there were 2 other tables of about 3-4 people, but they were out of the Sexual Chocolate, which was major bummer because that's the one drink I wanted to try. Â I had the raspberry hot cocoa instead (Chocolate Raspberry Forest) It was good, but really..I could have made it at home. Nothing mind blowing, like I would expect for the price. Â I like the relaxed lounge feel, but I feel like the needed something else instead of just a bunch of chairs and couches. Maybe some board games or something, just something to do. We ended up getting out my phone and found a game to play. Which brings me to my next point..the service. Not impressed. Like I said it was not busy at all. At first, I thought it was just because we were playing a game, so she didn't want to keep interrupting us, but then the check came and we waited for her to come get our card for 5 minutes, which would be totally understandable if they were busy, but at this point we were, literally, 2 of 4 people in there and we could see her just standing at the bar. Â I really hope they are just in a rut because it's winter. Â I will give it another try in the summer time, hoping it will be more lively and more of what I was expecting. If it's not, I won't be back.
Review Source:I made reservations here for a Valentine's Day girl's night out thinking everything would be pretty busy that night. Â So we were surprised when we showed up that there were only about 5 people there when we showed up. Â It stayed pretty empty the couple of hours we spent there, so I'm a little concerned they don't get enough business to stay open.
BUT! Â The decor was very cool and I felt completely at home because the chairs they have are the same chairs I have in my house! Â There were 8 of us and we got the flights of 10 so we could try all the flavors. Â Service was good...I would have been surprised if it hadn't been as we were the only large group there along with someone at the bar, and maybe two couples.
We ordered food from a menu made up of a few sandwiches. Â Nothing special, probably good drunk food. Â
The drinks were mostly all delicious. Â There were a couple I wasn't a fan of, one of them was the one with beer in it. Â But I definitely said, "Ahhh...this is amazing!" more than, "Eh."
I hope they have busier nights than the one we were there on because I really like this place and will probably head here for future nights out. Â Maybe they're busier in the summer with warmer weather, but honestly, we were there on a freezing cold night in February and it doesn't make the drinks any less tastier.
The drinks are pretty good. I really enjoyed the root beer one. Nice and strong, but pricey, which is typical for the Crossroads. The food is Costco-type snacky stuff. It's okay, but nothing remarkable. I had the distinct feeling they don't have a real kitchen. I would go again for the drinks, but not the food. Too salty, too snacky. A couple of entree offerings would be nice. It's more like a stopover on the way to or from dinner. Nice staff. Pretty decor. But all icing and no cake.
Review Source:Snow and Company is a beautiful place to lounge around while sipping an absolutely delicious cocktail. Everything that I've tried here has been amazing. You can't go wrong with anything on the drink menu and I highly recommend getting the flight option so you can try several flavors at once.
The staff is always incredibly sweet and welcoming. The seating is spacious and very comfy. I always recommend this place to anyone and everyone when I'm in the Crossroads area.
My only complaint is that the drinks are pretty ridiculously expensive. They are REALLY good, but be prepared to drop a lot of cash. My Flying Snow Squirrel White Hot Chocolate was $8. I know it was spiked and everything, but $8 is still a lot for a hot chocolate.
Adore the concept and the service and would be happy to become a regular (perhaps if I ever get a raise at work?)
We tried out Snow & Company last night because it was near a party we were heading to, and all in all, it was an okay experience. Â They were able to handle our large party, and the drinks were reasonably priced. Â
There were some problems with consistency, though. For example, three people ordered the Hot Toddy of the Plains and received three distinctly different drinks. Â Was it supposed to come out with a tea bag? With a slice of lemon? Â In a glass mug or ceramic? Â The strengths of the drinks were all over the place, too. Mine was weakish, while my friend's was basically a steaming mug of Buffalo Trace Whiskey with a hint of tea. I was very jealous. On the other hand, the service was very consistent and friendly.
Finally, the vibe of the place just isn't my speed, and that's fine. Â We probably won't head back simply because we're more dive bar people than yuppie lounge types, and that's okay - I won't dock the review for that.
The first time I visited this place, I wasn't expecting much. I figured "frozen cocktails" were going to taste more like slurpees with booze than anything I'd want to drink often. Thankfully, I was proven wrong! The complexity of the frozen beverages at Snow & Co. is fascinating and satisfying. You don't lose anything by drinking frozen versions of old favorites, and there are always new flavors coming out.
Can't decide on just one flavor? Flights are a great way to go. Got someone with you that just can't get into a frozen beverage? The beer, wine and bar selections are enough to keep anyone happy.
The food offerings are pretty standard. Tasty, but I'm unlikely to come just to eat.
One thing that sets this place apart, though, is their solid interest in community events. They play host on a weekly basis to groups and events and have seemingly become the go-to happy hour/meetup place in the Crossroads for group events. I've hosted a few of my own group outings there and the owners are fantastic to work with on setting them up. If you're looking for a spot to host an informal event, Snow knows what they're doing.
It seemed to take me forever to get here for the first time, and now I'm the duchess!
Snow & Co. takes the frozen daiquiri machine concept and elevates it into the craft cocktail realm, with some really tasty results-high end cocktails with the fun of an Icee! And the best thing is that you don't have narrow it down to one or two-my favorite thing to do is order a flight of three...or get more and share. They've slushed two of my favorite drinks-the Manhattan (they call it the Rockefeller here) and the gin Gimlet (embellished here as the Limey Bastard). And Christopher Elbow's Sexual Chocolate...well, let's just say it's very well named. And lest you think it's too cold now to come here, they have several hot toddies that'll give you a nice warm glow!
We ate here for the first time yesterday during Restaurant Week. What a DEAL! Two salads and two sandwiches for $15! I couldn't believe the freshness of the salad greens, for January. The mayo-less chicken salad wrap was very good, and the Turkey/Havarti and Ham & Swiss were also well received. All came with kettle-cooked potato chips.
Service is friendly and prompt, and the decor reminds me of somebody's really cool loft living room on steroids. Unfortunately there's no room for outdoor seating, but they do have a garage door that can be opened once the weather turns nice. Believe me, I'll be there!
Snow and Co is pretty cool lounge. Â The space is very open with comfortable seating and classy art on the wall.
The drinks here are like a classy Fat Tuesday's, in a good way. Â They have creative mixtures of frozen drinks with a higher quality alcohol. Â They are very tasty (make sure you read the entire drink description as some contain milk products). Â The prices are a bit on the steep side, with a standard (their large) size drink at $11. Â They do offer a $9 sampler where you get 3 smaller glasses. Â I didn't try the food but the people with us did and said it was very good (it looked good!).
I look forward to going down here in the summer to get a cold drink when the rolling door is open!
I can't believe I haven't written a review yet of this hip, hot and happening place in the Crossroads. Â Unlike most bars I've been to that are loud, obnoxious and have a dizzying array of expensive cocktails, Snow and Company is the calm in the storm.
Don't let the name Snow and Company fool you into thinking they only have cold drinks, because during the winter they have a hot selection as well.  The drink list is simple and  brilliant and if Apple sold cocktails, they'd do it just like Snow and Company.  The selection varies by the season but the drink that's always on the menu is sexual chocolate:  spiced chocolate and paired with Cointreau, St. Germain, & milk and with a salty sweet rimmed glass
For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, they also have local artisan soda on tap from Soda Vie as well as french press local Roasterie coffee. Â The drinks lean towards the sweet side so if you like a simple, neat scotch this isn't the place for you.
Along with great drinks they have a simple lunch/ light dinner and appetizer menu and I highly recommend stopping there for lunch! Â The food here isn't an afterthought like most bars but is as carefully crafted as the drink menu. Â I frequently get the hummus as well as the veggie wrap (lots of vegetarian choices here).
The best feature of this place is the atmosphere. Â The seating area features a variety of comfy couches and chairs as well as small and large tables. Â This feels less like a bar and more like a living room. Â The noise level is loud enough to create ambiance but not enough you can't easily carry on a conversation. Â I particularly like stopping by after an event at the Kauffman Art Center or the First Fridays art walk for a great evening nightcap and have discussions with friends. Â During the fall and spring, they open up the garage doors to create less separation between the indoors and outdoors.
The service is very high tech as the servers have handheld scanners to open a tab and take your order. Â This has evolved over time and I expect they'll try something different. Â With this non-traditional approach, I've sometimes had trouble getting the attention of a server but with the vibe there it's about relaxing and taking it slow rather than hurry up and get out of there.
Slushies for all your drink tastes. Â We got the big sample everything platter which was great since there wasn't any other people in there and I'm sure during the summer, it's insane in here. Â My favorites were the Boulevard one...literally tastes like summer in a glass. Â The Ms. Scarlet, Purple Rain, and Sailor Gold were also some of my favorites. Â The Egg Nog wasn't bad either, which surprised me since I don't like normal Egg Nog. Â Very cool concept and will definitely be back!
Review Source:Big girl slushies. Â What else do you want to know?!
Great location in the Crossroads, yummy frozen drinks that are switched our seasonally, great decor! I love the mid century modern decor they have with an industrial twist. Â In the summer the garage doors are open and you can enjoy the weather. Â
I really dig this place. Â You can also do "flights" if you can't decide what you want to drink...and the samples are generous! Â Do not underestimate the drinks though, you may be in for a rough time with some brain freeze if you do!
It's a definite must try for anyone.
I love Snow & Company so much I will be celebrating my birthday at this great hub. Â The staff is top-notch and make patrons feel right at home. Â Snow & Company is a warm haven for urbanites and suburbanites. Â I live in Lee's Summit, gladly make the twenty five minute commute to my new hangout. Â Absolutely a ten in my book. Â Go Snow & Company!
Review Source:I love this place. Â The decor is so MOD and modern.
It is always very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, but not so crowded that you can't get a seat, even for a group. Â The manager is a real sweetheart! Â Helped us out with a fundraising event and I have had several happy hours here for a group. Â
They were very accommodating for our group and reserved us a large area for seating. Â The staff is A+ and all very sweet and everyone that has waiting on us has a great sense of humor and were very fast and helpful.
The frozen drinks are colorful and hip and very good. Â Purple Rain is my favorite. They always add in new drinks too and mix it up often. Â
The food selection is mostly appetizers and I have tried several and all were good. Â I think they may have a new menu now and I can't wait to get back there to try some of the new food options.
I highly recommend this place for a fresh and youthful atmosphere and they are great for a group gathering.
We dropped in one Friday night, and just in the nick of time. We got a great table and not 5 minutes later a huge party came through the door. There were 5 of us, we ordered the sampler and we all tried everything. Yep, this bunch is not afraid to share!
Creative cocktails from tart to sweet, we all had our favorites. Service was a little spotty but as I said, huge party walked in right behind us. This is a fun, laid back loungy place. Drinks are reasonably priced.
Such a cool and unique bar in Kansas City. Â I have brought all of my KC visitors here, and it has never disappointed. Â Highly recommend getting the full flight to test out everything and then choosing one or two. Â Buyer beware: These are not your weak pina coladas! Â
If you're not down for the flight, personal favorites include Purple Rain and Christopher Elbow's Sexual Chocolate. Â If you're not in the mood for a frozen beverage (or someone in your group is just not having it), they have a full selection of Boulevard Beers. Â A bonus that this place supports local business - everything from Boulevard to 360 Vodka (distilled in Weston, MO).
For those visiting from St. Louis or Columbia, this is NOT Trops, nor should it be compared to Trops. Â Yes, it's a frozen cocktail bar, but there's much more novelty and it's dare I say, a bit more 'upscale' (also, you cannot take your beverage to-go in styrofoam cup).
The food is on par. Â A nice-to-have to soak up some of the alcohol. Â I'd recommend the pita and hummus.
Having discovered this place by accident, I'm kind of mad at my KC friends for not mentioning it before! As a past fan of Fat Tuesday's and frozen daiquiri's in NOLA, Snow & Company will definitely be receiving a second visit from me whenever I go back to KC.
Menu: This is a frozen drink bar. And before you start comparing to other frozen drink places, let me make one thing very clear: THERE IS LOTS OF ALCOHOL IN THESE DRINKS unlike other bars with the same premise. The night we were there, we could chose from at least 10 different drink flavors. Have trouble choosing just one? Get a flight of each for cheap!!
My favorite of the night was the Limey Bastard-sweet. Tart. it was a surprise every sip.
Price: reasonable for a place of this kind especially since Snow & Co delivers on the alcohol. Blueberry infused moonshine? Don't mind if I do!
Location: we were actually walking from the Power & Light District and stumbled across this little gem. I'm sure some would be scared of the area but we were just fine walking back to the Crown Center.
Overall: a definite winner and I hope they stay open. My mouth is beginning to water just thinking of these drinks.
I came here on Saturday as part of the Taste Of Kansas City:Crossroads Tour. We were able to have a shot glass (the size of frozen cocktail that you get when you order a flight). I asked the waitress what she recommended and she said she liked to mix the Purple Rain (Chambord, Blueberry Infused Midnight Moon Moonshine and fresh milk) and Christopher Elbow's Sexual Chocolate (Chris' signature spiced Venezuelan chocolate and paired with Cointreau, St. Germain, & milk). This was amazing! I think the Chocolate would be too strong by itself. Mixed with the other drink, it was perfect.
The service was very friendly and efficient while we were there. However, we were there on a Saturday in the early afternoon, so it was not busy. The atmosphere is very modern with clean lines and nice art on the walls. There are lots of comfy couches and chairs with plenty of table space. It looks like a huge living room.
I will definitely come back here. There are several other cocktails that I would like to try. I would recommend the flight.
I was craving a sno-cone the whole time I was at the zoo yesterday, but I decided to do the adult thing and check out Snow & Company instead.
Between two of us we had the Limey Bastard, Purple Rain, Miss Scarlett and one of the specials for the day, the Fashionista, which involved strawberry moonshine. The drinks were tasty and cute.
I thought the service was a little muddled. We had one primary server who was wonderful. She explained things well and let us in on the secret that you can mix the flavors if you like. There was a second server who might've been training or something, but kinda just got in the way. She swooped in and took one of my drinks before I was finished, and then later she brought us our check before the other server asked. Also, they take your orders and show you your bill on smartphones which was kind of weird. Made me think that they were texting instead of taking orders.
I hesitated to write this review, because I can't exactly put my finger on what I don't like about this place. This was my second visit, and while the first was a little better than this one, there was still something off. If anyone can identify it, let me know.
I've only had appetizers, but they are all just OK. The hummus is the best of their selection, but it's no more special than any other hummus anywhere else. One thing I was very disappointed in on my second visit was the cheese plate. The first time we came, it was loaded with large servings of four kinds of cheese and crackers. There were some nuts, and maybe some fruit? I don't remember exactly, but it was a great deal for $11. This time, there was a bowl of goat cheese, maybe a couple of ounces of brie and an ounce of a hard cheese. And some Breton crackers. I understand if the original was too much for what they were charging, but the pendulum definitely swung too far in the other direction.
Otherwise, the flatbread is fine and the chips and salsa are fine. Nothing special.
I myself have not had any of the frozen drinks, but my friends who had them this time were happy with the taste. Both times, however, it seems like there is always one drink that isn't available for some reason - not frozen enough, etc.
I would call the service disinterested. And maybe that's the issue. It's a nice space, the seating is comfortable, but again, there is just something that is missing for me. I think without that mystery subtraction, I would still only give Snow and Company three stars, but it's worth one star. Whatever it is.
If you like frozen drinks and you like to get drunk, then this is the place for you! Â Oh, and the food is pretty good too. Â Foodwise, I tried the hummus and pita and the turkey and havarti sandwich. Â All tasty, but nothing spectacular, which was expected since this is basically a place where frozen cocktails are the focus.
What I liked is that they offered a flight where you can taste a few. Â There were definitely some drinks that I liked more than others. Â I did not like the one with the grapefruit in it. Â I think it was called the pink slipper (or something along those lines). Â It was way too tart for me. Â I did enjoy the Sexual Chocolate and the Peach one. Â I do feel the place is pretty expensive though and service is just so-so. Â Also, I would like to see more options on the menu.
Ah, Snow & Company. I liked you in January when it wasn't cold, but wasn't terribly warm. I liked you in April, when the weather started picking up. I REALLY liked you this past Saturday when it was hot and miserable and your frozen adult beverages literally gave me goosebumps!
Here's the deal - at first, you sort of wonder if you're at one of those alcoholic slushy places in Las Vegas where you get a yard of obscenely colored, god only knows what is in it, sort of drink. But that's not the case at all. Not even close, my friend. These cocktails are good. They're strong. They're tasty. They're made with quality ingredients and booze you've heard of before. And they're so worth dropping a couple of extra bucks to get a large size or a flight!
The first time we were in we sat at the bar and discussed our drink preferences with the girl behind the counter. I like my drinks strong, and am a whiskey drinker, so she suggested the Rockefeller for me, and it was perfect. My husband is more of a beer/sweet drink kind of guy, so he had the Sunshine Boulevard, and again, it was the perfect selection for his preferences.
The next time, we arrived for happy hour with my parents, so they sampled a flight of different drinks and my husband got the A Kick to The Peaches. If you like peach, this is for you. I was dying to try the Sexual Chocolate, but they were out, so I had the Rockefeller again, and it was still excellent. We also had some hummus (which my step mom really liked, and she's not usually a hummus fan), and my dad sampled a Boulevard beer.
This last time, I finally got my coveted Sexual Chocolate, and it was everything I hoped it would be. My god, that was good. Like an alcoholic milkshake, but not as thick and milky, which suited me just fine. My husband had A Kick to the Peaches again, and still liked it.
The menu changes frequently, but I think I have found my two go-to favorites. Unless, of course, I go nuts and order a flight next time. And I just might.
Gourmet frozen cocktails takes me back to the days of Tropical Liqueurs in Columbia, but these drinks don't taste like cough syrup :) Snow & Co keeps their drink menu churning, just like their mixed frozen drinks, but favorites are the Rockefeller (the Manhattan) and Sexual Chocolate (their partnership with Chris Elbow's Venezuelan Spiced Dark choc - GAH).
Added benefits (maybe their biggest benefit) are that they readily listen to customer feedback and suggestions -- especially for new drink themes! -- and have been uber supportive of the tech/startup scene in KC. So of course, they've won my heart!
Food menu is tasty pretty much from top to bottom but think tapas, not heavy meal stuff.
Is it 85 degrees or more outside? Â Do you want to have one yummy drink to cool down after work? Â Do you want a fun place to meet an acquantaince and talk about your drinks because you have little else to discuss? Â Then you should be at Snow & Co. Â It fulfills all of these needs.
Otherwise... Meh. Â First the good news - the drinks are as advertised and very yummy. Â Each concoction is incredibly tasty and very creative. Â This is not your regular daquiri bar - there is no pina colada on the menu. Â I went with a pregnant friend and she had the "Like A Virgin" while I imbibed so it was perfect! Â Also, the decor is very funky and fun on the inside. Â :)
The negatives include this - the food is really gross. Â REALLY gross. Â They serve a lot of pizzas and hearty food along side daquiris . Â Strange. Â It feels like they only serve food because they have to - the creativity and love put into the cocktails is not mirrored in the food. Â Next, you can really only have one (maybe two?) frozen cocktails before your stomach hurts from sugar and your sick of sipping slush. Â If you're with an old friend and want to have a few drinks and a good appetizer, this is not your spot. Â
I may be back with my mom or someone on a Saturday afternoon to cool off in the middle of a day of shopping, but otherwise I'll stick to the many delicious margaritas on the Boulevard!
Let me start by saying that I am a very picky drinker, but I have yet to find something on this menu that I don't like.
How picky am I? Here's an idea: I dislike beer, whiskey, gin, anything with mint and anything creamy. I generally stick to vodka and wine. Not together, of course - not after what happened on my 21st birthday. But I digress...
Anyway, I'm not a beer drinker. Not even Boulevard - but I took a chance and ordered the Sunset Boulevard last time I was at Snow and I LOVED IT. It tasted exactly as they describe it: "summer in a glass." I have tried other items on the menu that include milk and liquors I generally don't enjoy, but I've been pleasantly surprised each time. Â
A couple of friends and I stumbled upon this place during First Fridays in April and I've returned three times since then. I love introducing my friends to this place and now one of my friends demands we go here every time we go out, even if it's out of our way.
If it's your first time, I HIGHLY recommend getting a sampler. I think they offer a couple different sizes, but my first time I split 10-15 shots with two friends. If you want to skip the sampler and dive right in, try A Kick to the Peaches. It's sweet, but the peach isn't overkill and the lavender is so subtle, it seems to just gently glaze over your palate. It's magic. Â
Summer is near and I know I'll be returning soon, especially since I haven't tried any of their food items yet. Sometimes the service isn't great, even when it's not busy, but this place is still fairly new. Definitely bring a group of friends - just be warned that it gets insanely busy on First Fridays.
Snow and Company is a win because they serve drink and FOOD until 1 am. When you're heading out for good food at 11 pm in Kansas City, you're screwed. We were driving toward the plaza when my brother said "check Snow". I did and voila we arrived, party of 4.
They're known for their frozen cocktails, so I did their 5 shots for $6. It was a great affordable sampler. They also have late night happy hour, so our shared plates (3 out of 4 available) clocked in at $5.01 apiece. My drinks were the Rockefeller (for the rye, vermouth, and bitter flavors) and the Crossroads Iced Tea (mainly for the Soda Vie Root Beer). The appetizers were great also. The meatballs were the big winner with the hummus clocking in at 2nd with its olive tapenade.
I had high hopes for this place as I had heard great things. DISCLAIMER: I was here in December. Not the month that screams "I WANT TO CONSUME FROZEN THINGS."
However, this has been a mild winter. It wasn't really cold and we wanted to try this place. Okay, another disclaimer. It wasn't my first choice as all I wanted was a vat of Chianti to dive into or a whiskey cocktail to sip on.
I was still excited to try it.
I was confused about the ambiance. It looked like coffee shop meets fro yo joint in the middle of a (bluish) afternoon. It was past midnight. Too light? Or was it the neon shade? I guess when you are going for the igloo-feel that is the way to go.
Then we sat down. I can appreciate modern, contemporary decor even if it is not my proverbial cup of tea, but I found this downright uncomfortable. Our party of three was sat at a low table (inches lower than my knee height while seated) with a circular couch around it. I totally could have been comfy at this type of table sitting cross-legged drinking a cup of tea in yoga pants gabbing with girlfriends, but it was not conducive to sitting in my fitted dress, tights and 4" heels. Not to mention we were each seated feet away from each other.
Our server was nice and bubbly, even if young and not terribly knowledgeable. The owner also came over to greet us and thank us for coming, which is always a great gesture in my book.
My cocktail was fine. It was actually pleasantly strong. I ordered a frozen Manhattan (possibly a double?) and it was better than I expected. I WILL WARN YOU ABOUT THE MARASCHINO CHERRIES. My friend and I, who both actually like the taste of liquor and do not like sweets, Â both almost choked on this alcohol-soaked fruit. They were bragging about it soaking for X number of hours in whatever liquor. Yeah. That was Y number of hours too long.
I would like to try one of the more adventurous frozen cocktails and food for happy hour some warmer day (read: DAY not night). I like that they have frozen drinks which aren't too sweet/frou-frou with a bit of a kick.
What a GREAT local business. Â I was anxiously awaiting the opening of Snow & Co back when a frozen cocktail would have more appropriately hit the spot. Â Unfortunately the actual opening did not coincide with our steaming hot summer weather. Â But I have to say, that did not seem to matter with the groups I have been to Snow & Co with thus far. Â Every single visit has included a personal greeting from one of the owners. Â And every single visit we have left feeling good about patronizing a local business.
I have had the Soda Vie local soda. Â I have tried more than one of the artful frozen cocktails. Â AND I have also managed to try a few hot drinks, AND some food.
I believe the winner from others accompanying me was the Sexual Chocolate drink (which I could not try because it contains dairy). Â Apparently only one of those is enough simply because they are so delicious & rich with the flavor of Christopher Elbow chocolate. Â
They serve lunch & dinner ( & have a happy hour). Â The menu includes appetizers such as hummus, cold and hot sandwiches, salads, and a couple of desserts.
The frozen drinks come in two sizes, and the drink menu does rotate. Â We were lucky enough to try the hot buttered rum on a cold night, and I believe the next time I spotted an apple buttered whiskey for one of the hot drink options.
It is so nice to glance at a menu and see many other local products offered. Â You will recognize names like: Boulevard Wheat, Â Soda Vie, Rieger, Oddly Correct Coffee, and Christopher Elbow.
The location is great, and the spot itself is a great space. I look forward to enjoying some frozen delights even more so in the summer.
As a new concept with a small management staff who consistently listen to their guests I'm happy to report that Snow & Co is already evolving. Â Two glass sizes are now available as well as very fairly-priced flights (try any three flavors for $10 - the same price as a single large drink).
Between a VERY generous sampling policy and the fact that we had five in our group, I sampled every drink save for two (Didn't try Purple Rain or the Pirate themed one...)
Everything I had ranged from ok to quite good. Â A lot of the drinks are VERY sweet - which I don't have much of a taste for (make sure to ask your wait staff for recommendations based on your level of sweet tooth). Â However, my favorite was the boulevard sunshine (I might have that backwards) - which was a Boulevard Wheat and Lemonade "Summer Beer" frozen to slushy perfection. Â I could have downed about 5 of those.
All in all, I hope these guys and gals make it. Â I like the idea, they were very friendly, and the service was great. Â Unfortunately, the place was dead. Â That said, we did go on the first 9 degree day of the year...so we'll definitely be back this summer to try out their new patio seating! Â
Give this place a whirl - I think you'll find something you like.
I didn't have any food because we'd eaten beforehand, but I look forward to coming back and pairing dinner with our drinks.
My great aunt, Viola Belle, was a seamstress for a canal workers' camp in the 1910s on the isthmus of Panama so I know a thing or two about high-quality frozen cocktails served in off-putting double-paned plastic cups. Â
My co-vivant and frequent dining partner Maurice and I had just wrapped up a few small plates of Michael Smith's masturbatory musings at that restaurant named after oil and needed to rinse out our mouths so we headed to Snow & Company. Â Maurice, ever the smart alex, immediately asked to speak with Mr. Snow. Â He is the only one amused by that fake name dropping gag. Â Anyway, we were politely informed by a voluptuous African-American girl that you were as likely to meet Mr. Snow at Snow & Co as you were to meet Mr. McDonald while eating a Big Mac. Â What a hoot this gal turned out to be.
We were seated at a low sectional table in some aggressively cushiony chairs next to some colorful art that some nice down syndrome child had thrown together and provided with a quick verbal round-up of the pertinent info regarding their mission to provide delicious frosty versions of stuff that normal isn't slushy. Â
After sampling a buzillion jello-shot containers of slush I chose a manhattan of sorts and Maurice, unable to fight back his inner Prairie Village housewife, chose a Christopher Kneejoint chocolate doo-hickey. Â Well, let me tell you this: YUM! Â There, I told you. Â Now, don't get me wrong, I still feel that these drinks might be a little light on the booze and a little long on the price, but I am not cheap and I am not (listen up, mother) an alcoholic. Â So what do I care. Â They were delicious. Â We perused the food menu and noticed that the run-of-the-mill fare was not frozen (ha!) and we were still picking Michael Smith's ponytail hairs out of our teeth anyway so we opted to sip only. Â
You can say what you want about this concept being the most ill-conceived, goofy and unnecessary joint to come along since Johnny G's House of Body Waxing and Fresh-Baked Pretzels, but I for one will be back for another brain freeze very very soon.
Since my first visit, I have been able to come several times, and it seems their offerings keep expanding.
They now have beer, wine and other liquor options and have seemed to come into their own on the ambiance. They have turned the lights down a little more, but there is still plenty to be able to write out this review.
They have seemed to really pay attention to their clients and the reviews, as they have made several of the suggestions people have made.
They also now offer two sizes of the frozen drinks.
The service is still outstanding and even on my second visit the waitress (Arwin) remembered my name and remembered what I had already tried from the first visit.
I liked Snow & Co. I think I would like it more if I would have gone when the temperature was in the 90s rather than the 30s but it was still good regardless. I had heard negative reviews so was skeptical about going, but it seems the negatives have been corrected. For instance, there is a smaller cup size now so you don't have to drink a lot of one flavor.
They do let you sample the flavors and I would recommend getting the flight of 3 ($10) as it gave you a little more than a taste of your favorite flavors. Speaking of favorites try the Cloud 9!! The only thing missing was the sandy beach and palm trees.
I would vote against the hummus as it lacked flavor, but the flat bread was pretty darn good.
I would go back and would recommend that if you went when it first opened and weren't impressed try it one more time as they have made some changes for the good.
Snow and Company is a new(ish) bar in the Crossroads area, and a pretty cool one at that. It's pretty slow now, but I think that's to be expected from a frozen cocktail joint in the middle of January. That being said, now would be the perfect time to try one or four of their cocktails before you're having to fight the summertime crowds!
Speaking of cocktails, hot damn these frozen concoctions are delicious! Though they've never came out and said it, I do get the sense that the Sexual Chocolate is their signature drink. It's made w/ Christopher Elbow chocolate, and it is delicious. It has a hint of heat, which makes me think it's a boozy version of their Venezuelan Spice, which is my favorite of all the CE chocolates. I have also had a really great drink called the Miss Scarlet, which was made of bourbon and peach schnapps as well as a few other secret ingredients. It was delicious! I have read other reviews that compare these cocktails to the daiquiri bars in New Orleans, and I think that's WAY off. This is Manifesto thrown into a blender.
The food menu...well, I didn't look over it too carefully as right now I'm doing the whole vegetarian thing. But from what I saw on that side, it was limited. Basically my choices were a grilled cheese sandwich, one salad, or a portabella mushroom sandwich. I went with the grilled cheese. It comes with something the waitress called spicy chips. To me they were crackers. She recommended I get a side of hummus to dip the chips in. It was tasty. The grilled cheese was a panini style and had a perfect amount of char to the bread. But still, the meal just felt really small and as a result, overpriced. I've worked in restaurant for years, and I can get a good idea of food cost by looking at a plate, and I'd say I was overcharged.
The decor is different. It's wide open and bright. That's not a bad thing, it just doesn't much seem like a "bar" to me. I need to go in here at night and see if the darkness outside and dimmer lights change that. I wish it was separated into smaller little nooks and crannies, more intimate areas for groups, I guess. Still, when it's busy I doubt that's hardly noticeable. I go to plenty of bars that are open floor-plans. They have huge garage doors opening out onto Wyandotte street, which I bet makes this place CRAZY inviting on First Fridays. I'll try and stop in on the next one to see for myself.
I'm not sure if I'd go back for it as a restaurant, but for drinks...ABSOLUTELY! I feel like it may be a 3 star place, which is still pretty great. But for offering a totally unique product in Kansas City, they earn a bonus star!
I hope this place makes it. Â Especially after I read their story of how Snow & Co. came to be. Â

Tried to get a friend to stop in with me yesterday around 5:30, but the place was empty. Â She said we could come back after the bday party and dinner. 11:00 p.m. Â Still no one there. Â I convinced the girls to go in anyway and try a new place. Â
It does have a coffee house feel. Â The red flashing "OPEN" sign seems kind of desperate for the area. Â If they could show movies or have some other draw to get people there, it may help. Â
Between 3 of us, we tried nearly every frozen drink and a Manhattan. Â I didn't taste the Manhattan, but my friend who ordered it (and typically loves them) said she wishes she would have ordered Oddly Correct coffee. Â I did try their frozen version of the Manhattan - it was pretty strong if you like that sort of thing.
The overall taste I got was SWEET. Â A little overly sweet. Â The Sexual Chocolate after taste was too spicy for me. Â Ms. Scarlett is a best-seller, so I tried that. Â It reminded me of a SweetTart. Â At least it wasn't overly sweet like my Egg Nog and Sexual Chocolate.
Our server was very nice and let us each try 2 samples before we purchased a drink. Â An owner came by as we were leaving to thank us for coming in. Â Hot drinks in the winter would be nice, but I'll look forward to coming back to Snow in the spring.
I want to like this place more than I did, truly. Â I'm glad they are in town and I wish them tons of luck, but I left just feeling *ok* about my stop at Snow & Co.
First the good stuff. Â The staff is super friendly and nice. Â The drinks are very tasty and are stronger than I imagined a frozen drink to be. Â So much praise for the customer service and the product, why then oh why only three stars? Â Details I say.....
The look of the place just didn't match up to the price of the product.  It feels more like a coffee house and poetry room than an upscale drinking establishment.  The paint colors and the furniture selection just didn't work for me.  I will say that half way through our stay, the lights were turned down by half and it changed everything for the better.  Details I say.....  My suggestion, if ever asked, would be a true Ralph Lauren (dark) navy paint color with stark *snow* white trim.  Some lit modern white floor cubes and comfy, worn furniture in velvets, leathers and  heavy muslin fabrics that age better the more they are used.  Always appropriate lighting for the time of day and some more stylish uniform than a printed t-shirt.......if, and only if,  I were asked my opinion!
I feel like details are everything these days. Â If you are asking me to pay top dollar for a product, make me feel like it is worth it. Â I think Snow & Co has great potential and that it is still trying to find its identity. Â I hope people check them out and I know I want to stop in every now and again if for nothing else besides a really friendly staff and a nicely flavored, strong frozen alcoholic drink. Â That should be enough right?
I really liked this place, the owners and staff were so friendly and helpful. Â The place is very spacious during weeknights but I didn't mind it. Â I think the place is set up nicely, it's not too pretentious nor too sloppy/divey. Â The drink prices were fair considering you can get a good buzz off of just one drink, i wish they would offer half sizes because i would have liked 1.5 drinks instead of 2 full ones.
Another thing i would have liked is maybe have them serve regular drinks in addition to the Frozen Cocktails. Â A frozen cocktail is great to start out with but for 2nd drink I would have maybe liked just a beer or something less sweet.
I will definitely be back.
Before I nit-pick, because I want this place to be successful, I'm giving them 3 stars for helpful, friendly service and fun drinks but 2 stars for price, ambiance and food. Â
On to the details-
Service- We were warmly welcomed promptly upon entering and after explaining that it was our first time here the server enthusiastically gave us a run down of all the flavors of frozen beverages and offered to let us sample any of the many flavors available. Â Being able to try the drinks before I ordered was helpful, it turns out the flavors I thought I'd like I didn't and at $10-$12 per drink, I appreciated not wasting my money.
Drinks- The lure of Snow & Co. is without a doubt their frozen cocktails, which are tasty and quite potent. I only finished half of my Miss Scarlett and found that I was having difficultly pronouncing the word ethics as I was telling my friends a story and I generally can hold my own in the drinking department. Â
Mark H. mentioned the insulated glasses and they do indeed keep your drink frozen, in fact my drink never melted and I was there a good 45 min or so. Â Those glasses may have something to do with the fact that you can only order the drinks in one size, 16 oz. Â This is problematic for me, the concept of frozen drinks lends itself to trying different flavors and even if they don't have special glasses in smaller sizes I'd like to see them offer a pick 3 flight of drinks or offer half sizes for happy hour (which they currently don't offer, maybe it's in the works). Smaller glasses wouldn't even need to be insulated because you'd drink them faster. Â
I still feel the price is a little steep, yes, the drinks are big and strong for $10 bucks but I had to leave half my drink on the table because it was too potent for me to finish so it seems less like a deal. Â Give me half the size for $6 and I'd be thrilled. Â
Atmosphere- Snow & Co. feels very much like a coffee shop, it's clean and spacious with nondescript art on the walls and well, without much personality. Â To me, it seems like a missed opportunity to make Snow & Co. memorable, unique and fun. Â Why not use the name to create a theme? Â Go sophisticated and use lots of white and pale blue w/ shag rugs or go the opposite route and make it feel like a woodsy ski-lodge. Â Instead, I'm left in a generic open space that doesn't make me want to linger. Â One other pet peeve is when a restaurant ignores the seat to table height ratio. Â The long bench that runs along one entire wall leaves you uncomfortably shorter than your table and companions seated in chairs. Â I felt like Edith Ann the entire time. Â
Food- My friends and I ordered the meat and cheese plate $11 and the hummus $10, both of which were recommended by the server. Â Unfortunately, I can't whole-heartedly recommend either dish. Â The hummus (which I believe is house made) is topped with olive tapenade and has a strange consistency and flavor I couldn't quite place which was unsettling. Â It was made worse by the fact that the pita triangles were COVERED in a salt/herb mix that made them so salty they were inedible. Â Why add salt to pita, especially when you've put tapenade on top of the hummus? Â The salt is there, there's no need to add more. Â
The meat and cheese plate was ok, you're offered one type of deli sliced cheese (thinly sliced provolone I believe), and two types of Italian meats- mortadella and capicola. There are sliced banana peppers and a couple of olives thrown in to round out the plate along with grilled baguette slices. Â For the price of $11 I was underwhelmed. Â Everything on the plate was again, salty and I wanted pieces of apple/pear or a bunch of grapes to break it up. Â At the time all I could think about was how varied and well presented The Drop's meat and cheese plate was for a mere $1 more and how it's even half price at happy hour. Â Snow & Co. is not trying to be The Drop but they could do worse than to take a note from their menu. Â
I'm not giving up on Snow & Co., there's lots of potential here and they're still quite new. Â I hope to come back to find that they've broadened their drink sizes and stepped up their menu.
