This place has a decent happy hour and I've always had friendly service. That being said, 3 stars is probably all they will ever get from me because I feel like it's a bit over priced. Oh, and pass on the hummus, while everything else I've had here is good the hummus is just awful.

While attending a conference in Kansas City, I ate at Gordon Biersch twice. The first time, my super food salad came out with chicken though I ordered it without. The second time, however, was far worse. One of the members of my party didn't receive his food when the rest of our food came out. Yet, the runners didn't give him an update on his order. Several minutes later, our server came to check on us. When we told him that our colleague hadn't received his food, he was surprised. He rushed off to the kitchen and returned with my colleague's burger and an apology. When my colleague bit into it, it was cold. Suddenly, a runner came and took the plate away without a word, and the manager scampered over to the table. Evidently, my colleague's burger had fallen on the floor. That's why they hadn't brought it out in the first place, but for some reason, it didn't make it to the trash. Although the manager denied it, the burger they eventually brought out was, indeed, the one that had fallen on the floor. If it had been a freshly made burger, it would have been hot and the staff wouldn't have behaved so erratically. The manager offered to comp my colleague's bill and offered to make him anything on the menu. My colleague, grossed out beyond all belief, told the manager that his trust had been broken and that he didn't want anything else. The manager, instead of reacting with professionalism, reacted as if my colleague was insulting him personally though I thought my colleague handled the situation beautifully. Imagine biting into a burger that had been on the filthy kitchen floor! For the rest of our time in the restaurant, our server and the manager scurried around our table with nervousness. And when we left, the manager strategically came over to thank us for our business after my colleague with the dirty floor burger had already left the restaurant. Accidents happens. Burgers get dropped. However, the staff and management at Gordon Biersch certainly need some additional training to understand how to deal with such situations.

The hubby and I had dinner here with another couple before going to a concert at The Midland.  They were very busy, although it was a weeknight. Our server was a little light on charm and personality as well as skill at his job.  He brought out salads with no dressing and didn't bring ketchup for fries. He didn't check back with us for most of the meal, but did eventually refill water and tea towards the end of the meal. The food was edible, but oh-so-unmemorable. Just kinda blah low-quality food. Salads are made with iceberg lettuce, there is far too much boring fried stuff here. I much prefer going to Gordon Biersch for drinks than dinner.
