I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really hate P&L. that being said my girlfriend had a groupon for McFaddens so we ventured down there on a Friday evening. If you walk in from the "center" of P&L side there is no one there to greet you and we stood there for a good 3 minutes confused about whether we seat ourselves or what. The service was just OK, it wasn't very busy yet so there was no reason for her to be unattentive. I had to tell her my drink order 3 times before she got it right (I swear how hard is it to remember  three words: whiskey, diet, tall). I ordered a burger and asked for veggies instead of fries. She informed me that they had steamed veggies or sauteed spinach. Now, I love spinach so I opted for that. Before she walked away she said "now, you know that the spinach is cooked in a lot of butter so its not actually healthy, right?" I responded that yes, I did realize that it was sauteed. It was almost offensive in the way that she said it, like she assumed I am some fat-ass trying to loose weight by getting veggies (with my oh-so healthy burger topped with bacon and an egg) rather than a person who just prefers veggies to fries.
Ok, sorry I am getting off topic. Well, one more thing about the spinach. It was actually very tasty (and yes very oily and garlicky like I like it). Overall the food was pretty decent. I think that it is just the P&L attitude that grates on me. I think that once our server realized we were only there for dinner and 1 or 2 drinks (as opposed to setting up shop for the night) she became disinterested.
