My husband & I have been looking for a place that serves great 'bar food' and is family-friendly. Â The menu is huge as is the restaurant, which both might be a problem. Â There were only 3 other tables eating dinner the entire time we were there. Â The food was okay. Â I send back the chicken & artichoke flatbread I ordered. Â It was so bland and kind of gross. Â The manager came right over to talk to me and was quick to let me order another item. Â I went with the club thinking it was a safe choice. Â The onion rings were awesome, but the sandwich was so-so. Â It was just lacking something. Â Our server wasn't super attentive and was only on the floor when she was coming to our table, so when we needed something, we had to wait until she appeared from the kitchen. Â I think the kids meal are expensive at 6.00 compared to other local restaurants. Â Overall, we won't go back there for dinner. Â I'm guessing from the other reviews that the reason to go there is to drink beer, not to eat. Â It's a shame too because we like to support local family businesses.
Review Source:If I could give half stars this bar would get a 3.5 from me. I went up there with a couple of my friends and it was HUGE! We noticed right away that they have pool tables, shuffle board and a little arcade in the back, which are all fun after a couple brews! Speaking of huge stuff and beer, their beer selection is very impressive!
Our server was very nice, after my boyfriend was done ordering and she was getting orders from my friends, he mentioned to me he should have ordered extra pickles, but was too shy to bring it up to her. She overheard him say that while taking the other orders, and to my boyfriend's MAJOR delight, put tons of extra pickles on the side for him! I wish I would have asked for her name so I could give her specific credit for being such a good waiter.
The only reason this place doesn't get more stars was that the food wasn't all that impressive. It wasn't bad, and the portions were a good size, but it was just very generic and simple bar food. Nobody super-hated what they ordered, but nobody was too excited about it, either. But from a place that seems to focus more on the bar aspect, I suppose none of us were expecting Wolfgang Puck-status munchies.
Overall, not a bad hangout, I bet it's super fun during sports seasons, too. We will return, but probably only for the drinks instead of the full dinner next time.
The place is huge- so people that want to go to a place that feels packed and like they are in the "in-crowd" may not like this joint, which is exactly why I love this place. It is not a meat-market or a
They have tons of tv's, good service, shuffle board, arcade games, and hella good wings. Almost every night they have food and drink specials. The only thing we did not like was the jambalaya. The owners are nice.
I really hope this place stays in biz!
This was our first time trying the Sports Cave. We were seated immediately and waited no more that 1 minute for menus and drink orders. The food came out quickly and was hot when served. My husband got the steak special and I had the chicken philly. The steak was cooked perfectly and he said it was very tender. The baked potato was large and a more than ample helping of green beans for $10. Mine was cooked perfectly and was a philly with a twist as it was served with pepperjack cheese on the bottom and white queso on the top. It was great. We also had 2 to go orders and they were timed perfectly. We had just finished eating when they were delivered to the table. We will definately be going here again. Just wish they participated in the KC Originals or iDine program. That would make it perfect.
Review Source:I read the reviews before going here and the reviews weren't that great. I was pleasantly surprised though. I would consider myself a picky person and everything there was really great for a sports bar. They changed the channel for us no problem. We got quick service. They offered a great variety of beer at awesome prices. We love fried pickles so that is what we've ordered whenever we've gone in and they were the BOMB. There were no kids there when we have gone in since it's usually after 8pm. I have not tried the other food yet but I was impressed with the options and the prices. If you want to watch a good game and have a great experience go to the Sports Cave! Support local businesses!
Review Source:Service= 0 star. Â Environment= 1 star. Â Food= 3 stars. Â
I'm excited for the possibilities, but I think they have a ways to go. Â The feeling when you walk into the Sports Cave Bar & Grill is that they're not done. Â It appears they ran out of budget when they were finishing the interior. Â Sure--lots of flat screens, but the tables, chairs and other furniture looks like they were purchased from a salvage sale. Â This place has a very cheap feel to it. Â I realize they call it a Cave, but that's not what this is--it's a low budget dining room. Â They could take some steps in the right direction with some decorations, some booths, etc. Â
The service was very strange. Â A server came over eventually and explained that he'll be our server. Â Then, another server (Mike) flew over and said that it's his turn to have a table. He spent a bit of time explaining that this table was next for him because of the sequence of menus or something. Â What? Â Why do we care? Â My wife ordered a 312 beer from the menu and about 7 minutes later Mike appeared and explained the "guy that orders the beer didn't order the beer." Â He did not offer an alternative. Â Mike had a lot of excuses and was quick to throw his fellow workers under the bus. Â Strange. Â
Food was decent. Â Better than I expected. Â I had the Philly and it was good. Â My son enjoyed the chicken tenders--they were above average & better than you normally get at a bar & grill. Â My wife enjoyed the Southwest chicken sandwich. Â Fries were OK.
