Friday night karaoke... Got there at 9PM and it quickly devolved into a white trash fest compete with two girls screaming and cussing at each other and trying to fight, a large group of shady characters that kept going in and out of the back door, patrons that hardly looked old enough to drive let alone drink, a bartender more interested in taking shots for someone's birthday than refilling our Bud bucket, stale/spoiled and flat Schlafly Pale Ale on tap, and so much smoke in the air you could hardly see the stained wood panelling on the walls... Smoke was so bad I had to throw my clothes in a bag, take two showers, and brush my teeth. Even my shoes smelled like smoke... Seriously, I had to Febreeze them. Yes it's cheap, but I'll never be back. If this kind of place is your style, than ok by me. But it's not my type of place in the least.

Found it, tried it, loved it.

Smoking permitted so if you're sensitive to smoke, look elsewhere.

Otherwise, this little bar sports a tribute to firemen  and has pool, full-length shuffleboard and Silverstrike Bowling machines for play and a couple of bar-top machines for trivia/poker.

The outdoor "beer garden" claims "St Louis' First" which may or may not be a boast.

Anyway, back in the day this place used to be called "Geno's Bungalow" and has since passed to another family and now to the son.  Apparently Geno used to play a mean drum kit as there is a picture of him in a news article near the pool table.

Highly recommend this spot as a watering hole for a rolling pub crawl. You will find as many characters here as Colorado Bob's, Hilltop, Doc Haus, The Haven or any other deep south Morganford area dive.

The heat finally lifted last night and the weather was way too gorgeous to drink inside...  But rather than hitting up Sasha's (an old standby), I said to the boy: "What about that beer garden on Leona?   You know, that little hole in the wall bar?"

He had no idea what I was talking about.  (Typical.)  I'd never been there before, but had driven by a few times -- and always knew it would be my type of place.

    Boy, is it ever.

The "beer garden" is basically a backyard with a nice white picket fence around it, filled with picnic tables.  And there may or may not have been a yard full of ducks across the street, because we kept hearing weird quacking noises.  Ah...South City charm.

Need a drink?  Just saunter up to the pick-up window and tap on the glass.  The bartender, Krista, will hook you up with a strong (!!) rum & diet for super cheap...just $3!

And when the mosquitoes start biting, head inside.  There was a group of hipsters to our right playing pool.  Old South City men to our left, enjoying their daily Budweisers.  So the jukebox was an interesting mix of alternative/heavy metal and old school country.

In other words, it was awesome.  Can't wait to go back!

Usually you can get top shelf drinks for $2-$3 everyday but on Wednesdays it's $5 all u can drink beer and well for ladies (8pm-11pm). Nuff said.

It's your typical hole in the wall bar. People do smoke although it's never really bothered me. I definitely recommend going on a Friday night when they have the DJ. He is an old man who raps...HILARIOUS! The bartenders are super cool and there is always a different mix of people that go in there-you never know what you are going to get. Maybe that's why I like it.

The Bungalow is a low key neighborhood bar located on the residential street of Leona (1 block S. of Bates, 1 block east of Morganford). Drinks are dirt cheap and they serve mediocre pub grub on weeknights or when it's not busy.

The patrons are nice people, that tend to be middle aged to older locals. The bar is fairly smoky and run down inside. The Bungalow is a typical south-side neighborhood dive, similar to the Silver Leaf and other bars that are planted right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. It's a good choice if you are looking for a place to take a group that wants to drink cheap and sing karaoke without a picky audience. A great place to try out those songs that you've never sung before.

Wednesday nights ladies drink for $5. There is a time limit (I think it's 8-10).
