Eh, close to my house. Been there twice. One night we went there after the yearly dinner for the squad and we were the only ones there so basically we all took over the place. that was fun. Second time it was alright. Waiter wasnt that great, food was shitty. Not missing much. And yes it gets really loud.
Review Source:Suspenders has been lately my little hangout on a weeknight when I just need to unwind without anyone talking to me. Plenty of TV's to help me focus on something else than the weirdo's that sometimes occupy the bar. Now that I'm thinking of this, I might be one of the weirdo's...
I come for two things: 1) beer 2) food.
1) The beer at Suspenders isn't anything great. It's not that they pour it different into different mugs and it tastes THAT MUCH BETTER. No. It's the selection of beers that many, many other bars just simply don't offer. Shipyard. Shiner. Sam Adams Seasonal. Just to name a few. They always have the seasonal beers that so many other bars just ignore to hold kegs of Coors, Miller, and Budweiser. It's a great touch for such a small, more local bar.
2) The food at Suspenders really should get a completely separate review. It's really good stuff for a bar. You would never, ever expect to get a legit meal for the price and the type of environment you are in, but go ahead and test me. The buffalo chicken wrap is delicious and I know another person that gets the cheesesteak with hot peppers EVERY TIME because it's that good. I believe on Mondays, they offer a deal on the entrees that makes it insanely cheap and that just makes it more worth going to Suspenders.
I go here a lot and I will continue to.
nice local place with a cool patio. Â staff is very friendly and know all the locals. Â i can tell it gets loud and fun at night. Â the burgers were amazing and well priced. Â one bad thing--it's LOUD! Â good for the bar, not so much for the dining room--so if your just eating and weather permits, take advantage of the patio.
Review Source:Nothing special about the food or drinks. Â But as a die hard E-town local and this is my hood I go. Â I love love their little patio in the summer. Â I go with friends, my hub, and we even bring the kids. Â It's that kind of place. Â It's probably the closest thing to a dive so I will continue to go. Â It's a big old bar with old booths and tables. Â A little dim (love that) but very clean. Â The staff are always great. Â Mostly college kids so tip them well - they need the cash!!!
Regular American bar foods that are just standard. Â But the thing is... it's kind of a nod to a dying breed so to speak. Â Suspenders has in Elizabeth what really no other place has. Â An atmosphere geared for anyone. Â Date night, girls night, casual fam dinner, work lunch... whatever. Â So what the food isn't 5 star - it's good and it's affordable. Â So what the place isn't all decked out?? Â It has a sweet patio with a bunch of umbrella'D tables. Â Couldn't be in a better neighborhood either. Â I don't live in "Elmora Hills" but I do live in Elmora. Â I can walk to suspenders (a long walk) and not feel afraid of the seedy element most areas in E-town carry. Â
There is plenty of parking in their lot and if not the side streets are residential where homeowners have their own driveways so you shouldn't have a problem parking. Â I always get the bacon cheessburger, hub gets the chk fingers and w get pitchers.
It's a nice watering hole for locals.
I usually order the honey mustard chicken sandwich. I think they mix sour cream with the honey mustard. I ask for extra so I can dunk my fries with it.
I ordered the reuben once. It was a greasy tasty mess. I won't order that until next year.
It's nice to enjoy the weather and dine/chill outside.
Suspenders is a neighborhood bar with a good atmosphere. More than a few flat screens showing the local area sporting events. If your going to grab a bite to eat, I suggest a bacon bleu cheeseburger. For the summer months they do have a nice sized outdoor patio to hang with friends and grab a couple of drinks. Bartenders are friendly for the most part. Nothing really sets it apart from any other bar you might wander into, but if your in the area its worth the stop.
Review Source:I was just introduced to Suspenders recently and I'm pretty glad. It's a good local option and it's not in my town (thus I don't have to run into townies that I know). Â The beer selection is pretty standard for an Irish pub (Guinness, Smithwick's, etc). Â But they also have Palm which is a pretty good Belgian beer that isn't a commonly found on tap. Â I've heard the food is pretty good too.
Review Source:I found this little Irish pub yesterday (St. Patty's) hidden right between Union and Elizabeth on a quiet street. The food there was tasty and the bar was crowded, but given what day it was - not bad. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's a cool little spot to just hang out with some friends and throw back some pints. It has the feel of a local police/firefighter bar and chances are you'll see some when you're there. Also, the prices are very reasonable and they seem to sell the stuff on tap for a few bucks a pint.
