I'm really looking forward to mowing down some of the delicious looking al pastor tacos they have roasting on a spit in this place (20 tacos for 30 bucks!), but for now I have a hard time getting over just how unbelievable their chilaquiles are.
They soak piles of handmade tortillas in this gorgeous creamy, spicy green sauce until it's more like an insanely delicious Mexican breakfast lasagna than the lifeless corny egg dish most taquerias offer up.
Topped with fluffy scrambled eggs, sour cream and onions alongside fluffy rice and refried beans, the chilaquiles here are pretty much a revelation. My lady friend tried the version with the red sauce and it was good, but the ones with the green sauce are better than anything I have had for breakfast on any of 3 trips to Mexico. If they sold this in a bottle, I very well might bathe in it.
With an uncommonly friendly staff and great prices, there's a good reason this place is swarmed with local Mexican families on the weekend. An authentic gem in the Lawrence and Montrose UN Corridor.
I can't complain about this place; the prices were great, the food was tasty with fresh veggies, and the service was great and fast. I know I got more for my buck than I would have at a chipotle or other restaurant. Under $6 for a huge burrito and I could have got fires and a drink for the amount I would spend at another place. I would totally give them another try.
