We went on a Wednesday night. Â It was wonderful. Â We ordered 3 appetizers, Â two entrees. Â It was a lot of food, one side and 2 drinks. Â Total was $60, amazing. Â It felt a very much like a neighborhood family restaurant. Â There were two families there with small children along, girlfriends having dinner and a large birthday dinner.
I would definitely go again. Â It was quiet, cozy and very friendly.
I made birthday reservations with Semiramis weeks in advance. Â Once we arrived, we still had to wait for half an hour. Â Service was painfully slow. Â Food didn't come out until almost an hour later. Â By the time, we received our check, the restaurant was closing. Â Most of my guests did not want to wait anymore and left. Â
The food was mediocre. Â The beef and lamb in the shawarma were not tender, and the hummus had a "strange taste" according to my Iranian friends. Â
I had huge hopes for this place since it was rated 4/5 stars. I guess I'm still on a search for the best middle eastern food in Chicago.
