Semiramis

We went on a Wednesday night.  It was wonderful.  We ordered 3 appetizers,  two entrees.  It was a lot of food, one side and 2 drinks.  Total was $60, amazing.  It felt a very much like a neighborhood family restaurant.  There were two families there with small children along, girlfriends having dinner and a large birthday dinner.

I would definitely go again.  It was quiet, cozy and very friendly.

Delicious! Went here last week with a bottle of wine and a desire for a cheap, healthy(ish) meal. I was delighted with the food, the ambiance, and the good service. We're coming back, with friends!

I made birthday reservations with Semiramis weeks in advance.  Once we arrived, we still had to wait for half an hour.  Service was painfully slow.  Food didn't come out until almost an hour later.  By the time, we received our check, the restaurant was closing.  Most of my guests did not want to wait anymore and left.  

The food was mediocre.  The beef and lamb in the shawarma were not tender, and the hummus had a "strange taste" according to my Iranian friends.  

I had huge hopes for this place since it was rated 4/5 stars. I guess I'm still on a search for the best middle eastern food in Chicago.
