This cafe seemed very busy for a rainy Monday, so I popped in to have a coffee.  I ended up have Huevos Rancheros, too.  My eggs were cooked perfectly and served with warm corn tortillas, rice, beans, cheese, and three different kinds of salsas.  It was a bargain price of $5.50 for the amount of food, and high quality.  Great atmosphere, and impeccable service.  Gracias.

Love this place. The salsas that come with the chips are spicy, and blended to a smoothie-like consistency, a nice touch that sticks out in my memory. The burrito was perfectly grilled and assembled with great craft, making it a big success on the texture front. And the tacos (pork and steak) were very tasty. During his first bite my homey stopped chewing with a mouthful of taco in his mouth, looked at me, and just said, 'Yeah.' Translation: the Teloloapanians know their stuff.

My measure for hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints will always be Taqueria El Asadero.  This place used to be the 2nd Taqueria El Asadero location.  When it went under new ownership a few years ago it totally went to shit.  When I recently noticed the name change and interior facelift I decided to give it another shot...I'm glad I did.

My standard order by which I measure the quality of such joints is:
    -tacos carne asada
    -chips
    -rice & beans
    -guacamole

The carne asada taco steak was decently seasoned and well-grilled...you gotta have a little char goin' to get the right flavor.  Their standard dressing is onion, cilantro and cheese...just the way it should be.

The chips are homemade as they should be.  They clearly use a thinner tortilla so you don't get that bubbling and separation I love about the Asadero chips (I have found those at Pollo Campero recently), but they are sufficiently greasy and flavorful.

The rice and beans are fair. Both could stand to be a little more flavorful and the beans could use some melted cheese on top.

The guacamole had WAY too much lime in it, but I imagine would be really good if they eased up on it

I am really happy to have an acceptable Mexican-fast-food-fix joint close to home again and welcome Telolaopan to the 'hood!
