Fun hangout with live music and such
This place does a few different events which can be a lot of fun. The often (maybe always) have $2 PBR so you can enjoy a crappy beer well below normal downtown prices. I have also eaten here for lunch and the outdoor seating isn't bad, the food was ok but nothing to write home about. The service here has never been an issue.
Overall it isn't bad if you want a little lunch downtown, if you want to go out for live music, or if a group of you just wants to drop in for some drinks or a night cap. It is a big open place so it is nice for larger groups.
We went with a large grp on a Saturday night and was able to land a table near the stage pretty easy. Â We arrived early between 8-8:30 and all of us were here for the first time. Â They had a very good beer selection especially local. Â Our expectations for the food were not very high but they impressed. Â Every single person, 10 of us enjoyed our meals. Â The most popular selection of the table was the Quesadilla Pizzas. Â It seems to be their specialty and they do them well. Â I recommend the Devils Delight w/ Jalapenos, outstanding. Â The Wings were a big hit as they seemed larger than most and the sauce was "Hot" but tasty. Â
The place really came alive when the band begin to play around 11:00. Â The house was packed the dance floor alive and our group really had a blast. Â We look forward to going back again. Â So, all in all the food was great and the atmosphere was 2nd to none. Â Food & Drinks are priced well and if a band is playing its worth a visit.
When we went to Tin Roof, a charity benefit was being held there. I think it's fantastic that the venue would host something like that! However, the layout is kind of inconvenient, if you're with a group of people. There are few tables, and the noise level is not very conducive to group conversation in the bar area. We got there pretty early on in the evening and still had to wait 15-20 minutes for a server to come to our table. Once we finally flagged someone down, the service was pretty good-- friendly, accurate, attentive enough. We tried several selections from the menu, and the food is pretty mediocre. Drinks are decently priced for the downtown area though, and the live music adds nicely to the 'lax atmosphere. I will probably give Tin Roof a second chance but only because of its intentions and potential.
Review Source:We usually roll in to the Tin Roof late at night after getting our fancy cocktail on at the Libertine. I love the Bocce Ball cages. Â It's just drunken PS3 Move in real life! So much fun.
Last weekend was the first time that I had dinner at the Tin Roof. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich (I would trade my blood for hot sauce, so I am not terribly hard to please on this front) and it was pretty good. A little heavy on the bread, but the portions were huge. Definitely good bar food, but just that... bar food.
As long as the drinks stay good and cheap... and the cage stays open... we will definitely keep frequenting this place. It's good to know they have some menu options, though, that are probably better after a few more PBRs.
This was my first visit to the Tin Roof and it is one of the best new bars in town! Â Went with my husband and we noticed immediately that we didn't feel old. There is a large variety of age groups from 20 something's to 50 something's. Great live music had people dancing and singing along. Their "Fire Ball" shots are awesome, but be careful they hit ya hard! Drinks are very affordable and the nachos looked amazing.
I can't wait to go back! Â Having a girls nite out this weekend, may be the perfect place to stop by and hangout for awhile.
The first thing I noticed is the atmosphere. It's half Rock N' Roll 50's Sock Hop with some Tiki Hut stuff going on. I felt like I finally found where I belonged in life. If the decor isn't a good enough reason for you to stop in, the food and customer service should be. We were introduced to Sammy when we inquried about catering, and he's great. He worked with us and I could tell that he genuinely cared about finding what was right for our party. My friend ordered The Tin Roof sandwich - consisting of Chicken, Peanut Butter & Honey. It was great and completely unique, I've never thought about Chicken and Peanut Butter together like that. I played the safe route and got a Grilled Barbeque Chicken sandwich with cheese and onions. I love their bread, it's sort of like flat bread but better, I don't know how to describe it. Also, their Queso is amazeballs.
They have live bands too! Go...right now.
Came here while visiting on the way home to Michigan. When we sat down for lunch it seemed pretty cool. Signs for really decent drink specials almost all days of the week. A relaxed environment and decorated to be casual. They even had games to play like Jenga and Uno.
We ordered the queso dip as an appetizer. Was actually pretty good, compared to another review. Then again, I'm really not too picky with my food. Then..things began to go downhill. About 10 minutes after we ordered the waitress came back, really embarrassed. Told us that they didn't have a cook. Said one went home, the other had disappeared. What the hell? She said she was really sorry, offered a coupon for a free appetizer next time we came back. Told her we weren't from around here, so she told us the appetizer was on the house, so we pretty much just had to pay for our cokes.
Eureka! She found the cook! Brought us some more chips for the queso. Got our food... we both ordered sandwiches and they came with crinkle fries. I had the buffalo chicken tender, my boyfriend had the steak fajita one. They weren't bad. However, the fries tasted like fish. Disgusting. I also got the last of the ranch for my sandwich..so they were officially out of ranch for the rest of the day.
So then our waitress comes back and tells us she's leaving for the day and we got a new one. Needless to say, when we got our bill...the appetizer wasn't on the house. At that point I was mildly irritated but didn't bother to say anything. The kicker to the whole day was the bathroom was completely out of toilet paper.
While the place seems pretty cool for a bar, it sucks as a spot to eat. Gave it a 3 to be neutral about the whole thing.
This place sucked really really bad if you want food. Â If you want a beer it is not bad. Â I got the chips and they tasted like they were cooked in bad grease. Â The queso I got with my chips was hard and salty. Â
I was looking for a place to eat and get a beer. Â With all of the choices downtown I felt like this place was the worst choice i could have made.
I was really looking forward to FINALLY making it to the Tin Roof this past weekend but pretty disappointed. Â I'm all for live music but it was so ridiculously loud that my party was literally yelling at one another across the table. Â We all decided halfway thru the first drink that there would not be a round 2. Â On the upside, our waiter was prompt, friendly and knowledgable and I like the setting, retro/country. Â I'm giving it 3 stars because the potential is there...I know it is.
Review Source:Tin Roof is the bar that I've always asked for. Â It is simply magical. Â Ever the skeptic, I was invited to the Tin Roof by a friend that works there. Â Upon walking in, I expected it to be your typical "bro" bar (which it can certainly be at times), with a pretentious staff that took itself way too seriously trying to be something that is isn't--i.e, a live-music bar in Nashville. Â
Fortunately, the Tin Roof is your Indy equivalent to the Nashville bar, except the staff of this establishment carries themselves with quintessential Hoosier hospitality. Â They don't take themselves too seriously, they are uber friendly, and you know that you're going to have a good time there. Â It is actually one of the few places in Indy that I feel comfortable having a few drinks by myself. Â
To make things even better, they have arguably the best food/drink deals downtown. Â How can you beat quality live music w/no cover, cheap libations, and a laid back crowd of folks trying to have a good time? You're right, you can't. Â
For me, Tin Roof represents all that Indy can become, and I cannot WAIT to go back.
I can't speak to it as a live music venue, only as a lunch spot. Â They proclaim that it isn't bar food. Â Yes it is. Â And not even all that good bar food. Â I had the Avocado Pavo sandwich (turkey, bacon, tomato, provolone, and avocado) and fries. Â The sandwich was a decent toasted turkey sandwich. Â I've had much better fries. Â They were like school cafeteria fries. Â We had the chips, salsa and cheese dip to start. Â The salsa is watery and has very little flavor. Â The cheese dip is...cheese dip. Â Melted cheese with seemingly no other seasoning. Â The service was spotty and there weren't enough tables to properly accomodate the lunch crowd on a weekday.
You would be better served going down a door or two and hitting O'Reilly's or Coaches. Â Very disappointing. Â Especially given it's boast that they have a real chef and don't serve bar food.
Finally Indy has a place down town with live music! I was told that they're only bringing in Nashville bands for the first year and they play Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays. The cover was only $5 (try to bring cash!) but we got there a bit early and didn't have to pay! Our group had a blast and would recommend this for a fun night on the town! And the college students haven't found it yet.. As soon as this place gets their lighted sign up I'm sure it will be much easier to find. (corner of Maryland and Pennsylvania)
They have a full menu until 11:00pm that we didn't get to try yet but I'm looking forward to stopping by at lunch time, or just not trying to order at 11:15 pm.
This place has sports screens everywhere, botchy ball, board games for tables and some other cool stuff around the place. They had a great out door seating area and the whole place opened up so it wasn't hot at all with all the people. Smoking was only outside, which I loved because I don't smoke but also after many hours in front of bands it's nice to take a breather. Never been into a bar that smelled so clean and new!
Loved it!
