It was my boyfriend's birthday on the day we went and he really wanted some pizza. He works as a cook at a Neopolitan pizza place and we wanted to try something different. It was about 730 pm on a weekday evening when we decided to come here. We were already at the mall and we walked by the pizza place noticing that there was only one couple in the restaurant. We thought it would be perfect because it was not busy and it was still pretty early. When we walked by everyone that worked in that restaurant saw us about to walk in and looked at us as if they could not believe we were about to come into their restaurant. I stood by the door and went to go open it but the hostess, who couldn't be older than 19, just gave me a look like, "are you really coming in?". It's 730pm and you do not close until 9pm, of course I want to come in. This made me feel very uncomfortable and I just decided not to come in  and said through the door, "Nevermind, I do not want to come in after all". I would have dropped it after that, but then another thing happened. The hostess that stared at me dumbfoundly FOLLOWED me and my boyfriend into Panera, probably not thinking that I knew she was behind me the whole time. She stood behind us in line as we were ordering with a smirk on her face, after we were done ordering she stepped out of line and I watched her walk back into the pizza place. I do not know what her motives were for following us, but it REALLY bothered me.
I consider that VERY RUDE. Do not have one of your employees follow me.
I also called the next day to complain to the owner, and he was a very nice man. The only thing I am disappointed in with my conversating with him is that he promised to call me back, and he never did. I understand things fall through the cracks and as a owner, he is probably very busy. That is the only complaint I have about the conversation with him.
Cannot tell you anything about the food because I did not even get a chance to try it after this experience.
I enjoyed my dining experience here. Â The waitress was very good and their "patio" has cartoons on, which is nice when eating out with a toddler (always an adventure!). Â The pizza had real potential. Â The crust is perfect and is the only crust I have liked out here in the western suburbs. Â The cheese was also very good. Â The big disappointment was the sauce -- just not flavorful enough. Â If you guys could up the seasoning in your sauce, this place will be a winner, at least in my book. :)
Review Source:spent a Sunday afternoon out in Aurora/Naperville with my wife, who wanted to hit the outlet mall in Aurora and then a couple of the big box stores on route 59. Not my usual part of town, so we thought we'd find something different to try for lunch. Â after driving by a bunch of the same chains that are in every suburb in the country, we drove around the Fox Valley Mall and decided to try the Tony Saccos Coal Fired Pizza that had a big Now Open sign up. Â It looked shiny and new, and figured it would be an adequate lunch stop.
The hostess didn't acknowledge us or the other parties lined up behind us waiting for a table for a good 5 minutes, as she talked to a couple about the menu. Â We were seated and then not waited on for a 10 minutes before I was able to stop a waitress dropping off drinks for a table seated after us. Â She said she wasn't our waitress but would find our server and send them right over. Â We didn't get offered refills on our drinks, and when we were done we sat there with empty plates and glasses in front of us for another 10 minutes waiting for our check. Â The waitress working the tables next to us noticed us sitting there and went and talked to the bartender/manager, and he came over and apologized and gave us our meal for half price.
The place seems very recently opened, so maybe they are still working out the kinks in their service, if the food was excellent I would probably deduct a star and say give them a few weeks to get their act together.
But the real problem is the pizza. Â This was the least flavorful 'pizza' I've ever tasted. Â They have a lot of seasonings on the table: salt and pepper, garlic salt, oregano, parmeson cheese, and red pepper flakes. Â After 1 bite of my pizza I could see why they had so many toppings, I applied all of them generously trying to get some assemblance of flavor. Â Our pizza had meatballs on it, their meatballs tasted like completely unseasoned ground beef. Â Their sauce was amazingly bland - I mean any canned sauce from the grocery store would offer more flavor, it's like they went out of there way to create a red completely flavorless sauce.
This is a chain place attached to a mall, so I wasn't exactly expecting to find my new favorite pizza place, but I've had good pizza at other coal fired pizza places (like Marco's Coal fired), and was expecting this to be similar. Â But it was a huge waste of time, and in a town with so many good options for any kind of pizza you like, I can't see anyone trying this place and deciding to go back again.
Tony sacco's is a great new pizza parlor in the west suburbs.  This is the closest I have found to New York style Brick Oven Pizza in Chicagoland.  We had the  Capo pizza- Pepperoni, sweet Italian sausage, roasted mushrooms and caramelized onions accompanied by a wonderful salade........Romaine lettuce, pepperoni, capicola, ham, provolone, olive medley and Roma tomatoes tossed with Italian dressing!!!  Bon apetite !!
Review Source:I have been dieing to try this pizza place so I made my dad go with me
Our server was super nice and bubbly, however the food was gross
The pizza was burnt, thin and not crisp, barely any sauce
I didnt complain because I was starving and I am a server myself and felt bad because she was so nice
I'm so dissapointed in the pizza :(
My wife and I decided to try this place tonight and we just arrived home 5 minutes ago. Â A review won't get any fresher than this!
Anyways, we ordered a 16" pepperont pizza with a little customization (easy on the sauce, and no basil). Â The pie came out looking great, however, it appears that they may have made the pizza light on the cheese, and did they did not take off the basil. Â We looked at pizzas being served at other tables, and they appeared to have more cheese than ours.
We did not say anything, as we were hungy, and as mentioned above, everything looked good. Â The pizza turned out to be great - the crust is thin and mildly chewy, and cut into New York style slices. Â The cheese has a blend of Romano - one of my favorite pizza cheeses. Â The cheese was a little slippery and the top is somewhat wet - from the cheese and pepperoni grease. Â I like this style of pizza, and in fact, it somewhat resembles Piece (a pizza place in Chicago that serves Connecticut style pies). Â We consumed the whole pizza, although there really is not much body to it, and we ate the whole thing within 10 minutes. Â I don't think they had a size larger than 16".
My wife had a side salad, which was pretty much lettuce with a few tomatoes on top. Â The lettuce was a little wilted, there was a low proportion of vegetables to lettuce, and overall she would not order this again.
We did not find the appetizers to be of interest - I was surprised that they did not have simple mozzerella sticks or traditional bread sticks, rather, they have a mozzerella cheese with fancy oils & seasonings and other italian specialties.
The wait staff was friendly, attentive and prompt.
Finally, the total bill came to $28 - with the pizza being $17. Â A little expensive considering we went home hungry. Â I think the two of us could have consumed 2 of these 16" pizzas.
We will be back again, perhaps some afternoon or evening when we are at the Fox Valley Mall. Â We will order "his and her" medium pizzas, perhaps I'll get a large 16" for myself. Â I'm just a little worried what the bill might come to as it's on the high end of the cost vs. value proposition.
Blech, sterile interior.  You feel like you are dining in a mall food court or a crappy work place cafeteria.  Pizza sucked.  For a wood burning pizza place, which I've had before and totally loved, this place doesn't deliver. What the hell is coal fired pizza, it sucked big time.  Crappy, low priced ingredients. Their prices are high, the place is sterile and what is up with the cases of sodas placed by their  windows and seating area?  Don't bother.  Please stick with your non-chain, locally owned pizza places.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but I really miss Ruby Tuesday's that occupied the space right across from them in the mall.
Review Source:Sparse seating led us to the bar, which had nice and comfy tall stools. Lots of screens to catch up to the days' games.
Great beer and adult libation selections to be had. Great sandwiches and pizzas. We ordered a 12" veggie to share between two of us and we had leftovers. Very delish. Beware that the pizza stand can tilt if you're not careful--we almost had a spill.
Bar tenders are nice and don't pressure you whether you are ordering from the menu or just enjoying a cold one. I asked for half Blue Moon and half sprite (a shandy) and the bartender asked jokingly whether it matters if the beer goes in first XD what a comedian!
Can get a little noisy from the mall entrance and hallway nearby, and from the wide-open smallish space. The dining room seemed a little sparse when it comes to tables, but it is almost full every time I've walked by. I think there's room for outside seating when the weather cooperates, but it's been freezing cold ever since they opened.
I really liked the pizza and would be back in a heartbeat.
Went there last night with my husband and young adult son to try it out. Thought the pizza was decent. I will add that it is not "wood fired" as a previous reviewer said,. It is "coal fired" and that does add a different twist to it. We ordered a 12" cheese pizza as well as a 12" barbecue chicken pizza. The crust was crispy with a slight chew to it, but not tough. It was tasty. We would go back.
I would give it 3 stars for the food.
It gets 4 from me for the following reasons:
We had a delightful waitress who was patient while we waited for our son to get off work and join us. She checked on us periodically and refilled water and drinks as needed. She was friendly and told us what pizzas she had tried and liked.
Because the pizzas cook so quickly, we waited to order them until our son called and let us know he was on his way. He works about 10 minutes from the location. The pizzas came out to the table right when he sat down. Perfect timing.
We would go back when we want something different in pizza or we want one really quickly.
Pizza preferences can be rather personal. A previous reviewer recommended a different place instead of this one. That place is one that we have tried and not liked at all.
To respond to Pete's edited comment below. I do not and have not ever worked for Tony Sacco's pizza. In fact I have never worked in any restaurant at all. In fact that should be clear from the mere point that I said the food was decent, not terrific or awesome, etc. Maybe I should ask Pete how long he has worked for CPA?
My point was that people have different preferences for pizza. (As often evidenced in the New York vs. Chicago style debate. Â So what one person likes another person might not.
Having had both wood and coal fired pizza, the coal does impart a slightly different flavor to the pizza compared to wood.
SKIP THIS PLACE. I was looking forward to trying this new "wood fired" pizza. Should have known better than to expect good food out of a mall. We ordered a vegetarian and a pepperoni pizza. For both, the crust was horribly tough, the ingredients tasted cheap and for $19 pizza, I would expect much, much better. I cannot stress this enough. Avoid this place. Go pick up CPA on Eola and New York and take it home. Way better for the price. This is expensive and the pizza is not even as good as Domino's. PIZZA FAIL.
Edit: I see someone (Susan G.) referenced my comments after I posted. Â Coal fired, wood fired, whatever. Â It's not a "twist". Â Technically speaking, wood or coal, the temperature is what matters. Â Finally, you're knocking another pizza place that I recommended in place of this? Â How long have you worked for Tony Saccos?
I will say the servers were very nice people. Â They just happen to be serving below average food. Â I feel for them.
