We went to Velocity 5 for an impromptu bachelor party late one Thursday night in springtime. The sports bar was relatively empty, most of the restaurant's tables and chairs unseated, with the majority of patrons gathered around the bar area.
We snagged a table near the bar and immediately asked if we could order food. We were told a couple different things by different people, namely, they didn't have pretzel bites, and then we saw a menu and found that they did. But truth be told, it didn't affect our stay too much.
The beers were flowing, though there was no table service. The food was decent and plentiful, and even though we were a little rushed to put our order in within 5 minutes of getting there, we got all we wanted and were able to keep ordering beers and enjoying our night there.
Get the pretzel bites. They come with cheese or mustard. GET BOTH. And on Saturday, they have a tequila special. That might be worth checking out as well. This might not be a destination bar, but if you're in the area, it's a solid bet for drinks and snacks.
I originally visited Velocity Five a couple years ago and thought the food was amazing. Went recently and it was just okay. I got a Caesar salad that could have come from McDonald's. That's not to say that it was bad, but just very very very mediocre. My boyfriend got a pasta dish and that was pretty delicious. The server barely attended to us it was annoying. He barely ever checked up on us throughout the evening for drink refills and for picking up the check. It was really aggravating.
Real food is good, service was not.
