Wingmasters Sports Bar

Five stars? From a vegetarian? Visiting from 5,000 miles away? In Wingmasters?!

That's right. It may not be especially pretty or fashionable, but it's an absolutely no-bullshit establishment made mightily enjoyable by friendly regulars and bar staff with the kind of attitude I respect.

Visited three times in a week while staying just up the street. Downed plenty of Manny's and Okocim. Watched a little football and baseball. Played some Jayhawks and Republika on the jukebox. Won and lost a few games of pool. And, most importantly, met some great Polish, Basque, Hungarian, and assorted other locals.

Felt a little sentimental on eventual departure. Which was doubtless influenced by Fireball experimentation. But not just that...

Went for round 2 a couple weeks ago for $.50 night and decided to try and order at the bar. Voila! You can order your wings and drinks at the bar instead of hoping to flag down an employee. Came out within 10 minutes and we were golden. Damn, I love this place.

Walked in and there was nobody there to greet us, or even a sign to seat ourselves.  Grabbed a seat and waited for 20 minutes. Could not flag down the waiter who seemed to be slow anyway as the place was pretty light on business. Left disappointed. I really wanted wings today.
