DO NOT GO HERE. My family has eaten here a few times. The first time we ate inside, the service was terrible and slow. We had three different people serve us who were not on the same page and we ended up not getting certain things we had ordered.
But the food was decent enough that we went back. Tonight we ordered it for pick up. My brother ordered the Chili sauce steak rice dish, that he has ordered before. As soon as he opened it, my entire family went, "What's that smell, gross???!!!". It was his dish. Everyone agreed that it smelled like poop and of course he didn't want to eat it then.
My mom called when we were done to tell them nicely that something was wrong with the dish and we would like a credit of $8.95 for when we come back again and that all the other dishes were good.
The woman who answered questioned my mom about the dish as if my mom was lying and then she laughed at my mom and said, "That's just how it smells." My mom said it smelled so foul that we had to immediately throw it out so the smell wouldnt linger. She then said the only way she would fix the situation is if my mom drove the 15 minutes to their restaurant, show her the dish and prove it smelled bad and then she would make her a new one. So under no circumstance would she give us a credit to come back.
This is one of the most appalling customer service situations I have seen- I am shocked that a business owner would treat a returning customer like this. Do you really want to support someone like this? She could have just credited us $8.95 and have us come back. But no- now she lost our business for good.
Unless you want food that smells like dog poop and absolutely disgusting customer service, not to mention really unprofessional service inside their restaurant, DO NOT GO HERE.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. DO NOT SUPPORT PEOPLE LIKE THIS.
This place has so much potential but the service sucks, the server is the owner went their the other night the table next to us a table of three she brought out one meal and forgot the other two she was behind the bar texting and laughing finally the guy got up and asked her how much longer on the meals she brought out the other meals right away you can tell he wasn't to happy because two meals were cold
.......If you want great Thai food go to Montri in Warrenville  just off Rt59 and Batavia  road it's the best, !!!!!
Really conflicted on how to review Yum Yum.
The food is good, and reasonably priced. Lunch specials include soup, small salad, and side such as spring roll, or crab Rangoon. Soup is nicely seasoned without being heavy-handed. A good value.
The service is another thing altogether. Every time we visit for lunch, there is only one server. She may be the owner. Yum Yum is not a huge place, and the service is always riduculously slow. Even when its not excessively crowded, we end up waiting. And waiting.......... Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ......And waiting.
Oh, and if you enjoy a nice ice tea with lunch, be warned: it's not fresh brewed. It's from powder concentrate, spooned out of a canister.
My husband and I went here with another couple for dinner and we were expecting authentic thai food but it seemed like it was just another generic asian restaurant. Â The food was ok, but not great. Â The service was weird. Â Our server came over to take our order and when my friend said what he wanted to order, the server made a stink face and said, "no you don't want that" and then ordered for him without asking. Â Why would you put something on the menu if it is bad? Â The food is fine, but after the odd experience we had here, we probably won't be going back.
Review Source:The wait staff (owners husband) was very friendly but not knowledgeable about the food. Â The prices are very reasonable. Â I gave such a low rating because of the lackluster food. Â My dish was watery and oily, the meat was just bland. Â My boyfriends dish was also bland, not something we expect with our Thai food.
Review Source:Second time here. Food is very well seasoned, prices are reasonable for the portions. Â We had the garlic noodles and Tom Yum soup and both of them were excellent. Â We will definitely be going back to try out new dishes. Â Â
Only down side is both times we had young inexperienced waiters. Â They weren't terrible, but we had a couple of down times waiting for food to arrive, specially when place got busier and they had to scramble. Â Both of them were really nice, I will take nice/inexperienced vs rude/lazy/veterans any day.
Visiting from out of town we happened upon Yum Yum Thai when we were searching for something other than chain fast food. Â This restaurant hit the spot. Â Seems like a new location. Â The decor was very tasteful and "asian". Â The food was tasty and more authentic that I was initially expecting. Â That is a compliment! Â When stopping in some Thai restaurants the food tends to taste more chinese than Thai. Â
Price was fair-moderate. Â Portions were reasonable. Â The owner was very pleasant.
If we are back in Naperville would definitely stop in again!
We ate here this afternoon on the way home.  At first when I heard another customer complain that their order was wrong, and they were the only customers in the place I thought - this won't be good.  But it was delicious and reasonably priced and very large portions.  We had crazy noodles, pad thai, papaya salad, cucumber salad an order of fried rice and they even accommodated  my particular child with a large dish of plain tofu and white rice (with a salt shaker - which is another particular).  All with friendly service.  Though I could imagine that as others stated, service could be slow if we were not the only ones in the place.
The pad thai with tofu lacked any vegetables, which I do normally want in my pad thai - but the Crazy noodles had so much fresh basil in it that it more than compensated.
The papaya salad was not too spicy - not really spicy at all - so for the first time I could eat more than a fork full. Â I guess if you like spicy this place may not be for you :)
This place looks and smells fantastic but the food is awful!
My mom and I went there on a Friday night at 8:30 PM and there were only 3 other people eating at the place. Red Flag!
The hostess and the bar tender also shared the duties as server and busboy, Red Flag!
We got the Thai meat balls for an app (4 fish, 4 beef, 4 shrimp) and only got 2/3 of the balls advertised. When we asked the hostess/waitress why, she said that customers didn't like the beef balls so they don't make them anymore, Red Flag! Also, they were way over cooked and rubbery.
When we got our Pad Thai it was a beige mound of gloop. It was the worst looking thing I've ever been served in an eatery! It was mushy, way too sweet and the tofu was over fried to in-edibility. We suspect that we were served leftovers from previous days. It was
We ended up paying for our app and leaving. If they were empty on Friday night, this place will not be open much longer, no matter how big the lunch crowd.
Finally to all the other recent positive posts of this place: WTF!?
Yum Yum is my favorite Thai restaurant in Naperville.  They have great weekday lunch specials that include a small salad, soup, appetizer and entrée for less than $10.  I forget the actual price, but it is very reasonable.  It's a bit of a drive from work, so I'm more often there for dinner.  Most of the dishes are quite tasty, but my favorites are the Panang curry and Thai crazy noodles.  I love that they add so many vegetables to these dishes.  Traditionally, Panang curry doesn't include vegetables, but they add a generous amount and it really enhances the dish.  I daresay you'd be hard pressed to find a much better Panang curry outside of Thailand.  If you want to try something that you don't often see at most Thai restaurants, order the Hoi Tod with mussels.  It's made with eggs and flour and comes with bean sprouts and a hot sauce.  It may not be the healthiest dish, but it's different and delicious!
I've been to Yum Yum many times with my wife and friends. Â We've always had servers that are polite and attentive. Â However, when they get busy, the service can start to suffer as they don't have enough people to handle the crowd. Â I don't hold this against them because this is a relatively new small local business trying to get a foothold in the market. Â I'd imagine they would have a hard time making money if they had enough servers to provide 5 star service, or they would have to significantly increase the prices on the menu. Â I will continue to visit this establishment every time we get a craving for Thai food (and my wife doesn't want to cook).
The food was great, I had the Panang curry with squid. The prices were good and the dining room was nice, although they really need some blinds for the evening sun! Their was only one person acting as hostess and waitress for the entire restaurant. I don't know if this is normal or was just a fluke, but it took away from the customer service.
Review Source:The service is pretty terrible (slow, disorganized), but it's the best Thai place I can think of in the area. So here's my advice:
- Go. But go with low expectations for good service. They're not mean, just not on top of things. Â
- Go when you have plenty of time and make sure you either:
a) Like the people you're going with so you can engage in lengthy, entertaining conversations full of belly laughs, tears of joy, bittersweet memories and soul searching
b) Bring your Kindle
- If you get the chicken wing appetizer, the wings come in a tiny ceramic boat! No shit, a boat! Plus they're really good; crispy with a sweet chili sauce to dip. .
This place is expensive probably they spend all the money decorating becauce the food difinitely isn't wort it. The wait time is rediculously slow. The server completely forgot the drink that I ordered. When my wife and I were finally finished, I paid with the debit card but the female owner (who is extremely annoying by the way) didn't bring my card back so I had to ask for it. I'm not going back to YUK YUK Thai, ever. I'll be going to Montri Thai instead.
Review Source:I came here for the first time about a week ago. It was a weekend lunch. We were the only ones there at first another family came by the time we left. The place was very cute and trendy. The service was good, quick, and very nice. The food did not take long to make. I don't remember what the 3 of us got but the dishes were very large and we all really liked ours, and each others. The crab Rangoon appetizer was AMAZING! And the lunch for 3 was under $40. Will definitely come back!
Review Source:ehhh. I wouldn't return just for the spring rolls. Although the plum sauce they serve with it. I have never found anywhere else. I just didn't enjoy my food enough from here. Which is saddening, Cause I had been waiting for the this place to open with excitement thinking it was going to be GREAT.
Review Source:I cannot remember the last time we left a restaurant after the apps and before the entree, but we did here. Â
Ouch. Â
Sorry to the owners if you are reading this (hopefully you are) but the only thing worse than the service tonite was the food. Â You seem to be nice people (I suspect the owners were our servers) and your daughter is really cute, but this was the worst Thai food I've ever had. Â Maybe turn customers away next time you cannot give them your best?
Granted, we only planned an hour to eat on a Saturday night, but about halfway through this slow motion plane crash of a dinner I politely set $30 on the table for 2 Thai teas, a bowl of soul-less Tom Yum soup that featured some form of alien-like chicken that had a texture similar to par-boiled cardboard. We also received an order of spring rolls (frozen carrots? Really? Not cool) accompanied by a rather watery & bland sauce as we had the common sense to bail out and abandon the entrees. Â Pretty nice of me to pay, overpay actually, and be polite as we left right? Â Yeah, I thought so too.
Oh my YUM YUM! Â Yea, I said it! Â I had to!! Â So the boy's bff hit us up for dinner and wanted Thai. Â The 4 of us (the boys and their girls) head over for some YUM YUM! They've been there once before, but we have not... We should've found this place before now! Â We'll definitely be back, no doubt about that!
So we start out with 2 apps... Pot Stickers with sesame soy sauce & Chicken Satay with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Â They were both good, but the part that stood out was the sauces! Â I honestly tried to lick the bowls (I did for the peanut sauce... we'll just leave it at that...)!
I have the Pad Thai with beef. Â I really tried to order something different since this is my go to Thai dish, but I'm so glad I didn't!!! Â The beef had this smokey grilled flavor that ran through the entire dish! Â It made everything around us smell so amazing! Â The flavor was to die for! Â I will say that this was the best Pad Thai I've had anywhere yet!
The boy had Curry Roast Duck with rice. Â He really enjoyed this dish! Â The duck was cooked perfectly. Â The curry was just the right amount of spicy. Â The boy doesn't eat many veggies, so I got all of the green beans that were picked out of the dish. Â I agreed that this dish was done very well!
The boy's bff got the Basil Leaves Dish with duck. Â This boy is obsessed with Sriracha... He loves all things spicy and extra spicy! Â He put extra spicy on this dish and it was just right for him! Â He loved every moment of this dish with it's basil and he spicy additive!
The boy's bff's girl (ya follow?) got the Basil Fried Rice with chicken. Â Their fried rices look really good! Â The basil adds such a great flavor to this dish! Â There are also some great veggies in here that you don't normally get in a fried rice. Â It's a really refreshing idea over the boring stuff you usually see!
The service was good, even a little overwhelming and attentive! Â We will definitely be back again soon!

I am by no means a food crittic, however oriental thai is my specialty. Â Both in preparation at home and as my favorite cousine to eat. Â In my journies I have found myself eating thai all over the united states. Â Upon my return trip back to detroit from Chicago I stopped here to eat. Â Given the yelp reviews the place was hit or miss. Â I will review this on two areas, service and main entree.
Service.
When I arrived I waited in the main area for the server to greet me and seat me. Â It seemed as if there was only one person serving and a moderately busy day (5-6) different patrons. Â Once I received my menu, decided what I wanted, and placed my menu down I waited about ten to fifteen minutes for my order to be taken. Â I ordered the red curry(chicken hot spice), chicken satay, thai rolls, and a thai ice tea with water. Â As I was ordering thw server tried to walk away twice as if my order was finished. Â Seemed rather distracted or rushed. Â Now, the time from ordering to receiving the food is automatically forgiven from review as that should never be counted against the service portion of a review. Â However I waited 5 minutes for my thai ice tea, and I had to request my water a second time. Â I recieved the thai rolls first as expected. Â Later the satay, the server forgot the cucumber salad to accompany the satay. Â After tracking down the server he apologised and returned with the cucumber salad. Â I recieved my food, finished eating and my server disappeared. Â A bus boy walking by had to be asked for our check.
Food (preperation, flavor, presentation)
The first appetizer was the thai rolls. Â They were medicore, the chicken seemed soggy and the rolls were wrapped poorly. Â Presentation was perfect but hard to mess up. Â Two rolls cut in half placed on top of one another. Â The accompaning sauce was decent, very sweet. Â Brown sugar aeemed to be a bit overpowering.
Chicken satay - incredibly disapointing. The chicken appeared to be once frozen pricessed chicken strips fried quickly in yellow curry dauce. Â The oils of the frozen flat chicken seemed to run the curry off the meat. Â The peanut sauce was thick and lacking the typical zing desired to accompany the satay. Â The cucumber salad palate clenser was all wrong. Â Although the vegetables seemed fresh, the sauce itself was not simmered enough to properly mix the vinegar with the sugars. Â The vinegar was far too over powering and the thick syrup consistancy was a determinate of too much sugar. Â Although the onion and cucumber was fresh, it didnt seem as if the flavors sat ling enough to pair well together.
Red Curry - dish arrived as an abomination of a tradional dish (gang gai). Â The vegetables consisted of eggplant, green beans, red and green peppers and bamboo shoots. Â All of the vegetables seemed to have been frozen, not thawed prior to cooking in the sauce. Â The green beans were tough and cooked improperly. Â The green and red peppers were soggy and dilapadated, unpalatable. Â They lacked the snap and vigor of a fresh vegetable. Â The eggplant was sectioned and quartered, rubbery and sour. Â The actual red curry sauce was utterly disapointing. Â Throughout the entire dish was a chunky white and yellow mystery paste that seemed to coat the vegetables and meat, then reside in the sauce under the main dish. Â The consistancy looked like flour added late in the cooking process to thicken, but never mixed well. Â Lime was never used to cure the curry sauce, the curry paste they used was sour. Â Their main heat ingredient appeared to be sriacha sauce and not tradional ground red pepper flakes. Â The dash of brown sugar seemed to be replaced with a heap, to conceal the bitterness of the sauce. Â The bamboo shoots resmbled shoe string potatos soaked in water. Â Flavorless, soggy and dusgusting. Â The rice even was all wrong. Â Instead of traditional jasmine rice, cheap, undercooked white rice was substituted. Â The rice seperated when placed on the plate and had a slight crunch to it. Â Vinegar was not added to the water to soften the kernals.
Thai ice tea- tradionally consists of freshbrewed spiced ice tea and heavy cream, some how evolved into a thick orange syrup.
Overall the experience in both service and foid was horrid. Â Nothing about this reasturant is thai. Â Not the staff, delivery, food, or tradition. Â It is an incredibly unfunny joke. Â The food is second rate, old, frozen, premade, and over valued. Â The portiin sizes are small in comparison and lack all flavor. Â A majority of each of my dishes were left behind as I couldnt stomach eating the rest.
I give this place half a star for poor service, and half a star for uneatible food. Â Avoid at all costs.
This place is dirty. My friend saw the woman owner picked up  fresh spring roll from the floor, then served her customers.  My husband ordered lime chicken for  apettizer and he did not like it. And when I waited to get in the restroom, there was a cook came out but I did not hear she washed her hand.
Review Source:We made a stop in here the other day after making a wrong turn to our original dinner destination and it caught our eye.
Our first 2 minutes in the restaurant set the tone for the entire visit. Â We weren't greeted immediately, but some what soon by a pleasant man who said follow me to your table. Â After 15 feet he halts at a couple and hands them a drink menu and tell them that there are no drinks tonight because his wife isn't there to make them, he then wanders off to the kitchen leaving us stranded as if we are suppose to just pick a table... Â we did and it was very, very awkward.
And the service continued to be very awkward. Â It felt like they were short-staffed and he was filling in even though he had never waited tables before. Â His phrasing of things to us and overheard from other tables was downright cringe-worthy. Â But don't get me wrong, he was very polite and well-intentioned. Â It felt like the whole restaurant was in disarray, and I was bracing for a 2 hour "dining experience".
Let me stop here and say the food was fantastic and timely. Â I had the calimari which was done up in a tempura batter which also had some battered strips of red peppers. Â The sauce was quite standard but I really enjoyed the appetizer. Â For the main dish I had the catfish in curry sauce, Â Some of the fish bits were a bit over fried and felt a bit unproportioned ratio wise to the vegetables. Â But the vegetables were perfectly cut and stellar, Â I'm not even sure what it all was but it was more than your standard selection. Â It was also a large portion and was just as good reheated.
The decorating of the place was also great and its obvious they did not skimp on the look of the place, but the devil is in the details... Â Our table rocked like crazy, Â the daily specials plastic sleeve was completely crusted in kitchen grease and the bar top was covered with about 50 dirty drink glasses.
I want to hope this was just an off day for Yum Yum, Â we will certainly be back and 2nd impressions will make this either a 2 or 4 star review.
My chiropractor's office recommended this place so I stopped in after my adjustment today. I walked in and there was no one there to greet me which was fine because it gave me a few minutes to look at the take out menu.
I ordered the spring rolls and pad Thai with chicken. Both were excellent and the portions huge. The spring rolls are fresh and filled with crunchy veges, not fried and there's some sort of dipping sauce. I managed to carefully eat most of them on my way home. Did I mention it was a late lunch?
I attacked the pad Thai when I got home and it was so good...truly authentic. I've had excellent pad Thai in the city but this is the first in the burbs.
It seems like this place is working out the kinks and I truly hope it sticks around because I go in for weekly adjustments next door.
Take out review:
Thai Fried Rice with BBQ Pork - Yum! Â I would definitely order this one again. Â The flavors were really good and it came with big pieces of broccoli, which is unusual in a fried rice dish, but it worked (if you are a broccoli fan, that is). Â I could do without the carrots, but the more vegetables, the better. Â Also pretty good portion for $9.
Crab Rangoon - Small, crispy and tasty, $5.
After being highly recommended, we gave this place a shot. We walked in and I thought it was going to be a dive (had a bar when you come in). I got the pad thai (with a bit of spiciness) and the hubs got garlic noodles. I absolutely LOVED it! I didn't like our appetizers (got chicken satay and chicken eggrolls which really were springrolls, and our friends got the tempura). Our service wasn't great, didn't keep up with our drinks, had at least 4 waiters/waitresses. Asked for things a few times because of so many people. Good thing they have take out!
Review Source:Food is definitely good, however, their service is very poor. Â On a take out order, we were told 30 mniutes...more like 50. Â There was no order in the restaurant...everybody was doing the same thing...all of them were checking the take out orders, all of them were filling water, all of them were trying to take orders. Â They may be having growing pains and need to learn a little more of the division of duties. Â I'll be giving them another shot.
Review Source:I hardly ever give a bad review for service because I'm pretty forgiving but the fact that I feel it is necessary to comment on the service says to how bad it actually was. I went with my family on a Saturday night and there was no one else in the restaurant (which is was suspicious to begin with). The owners and staff were very welcoming and seated us but then realized that the floor surrounding our table was dirty so then they asked us to get up so they could mop. If they had no other customers and weren't busy....why didn't they clean before? Then we ordered the appetizers and they were frozen. The food arrived which was pretty descent but while I was still eating, the waitress started to take my plate away!
Overall, the service was extremely poor, the food was average and the owners were extremely friendly.
Ordered Pad Thai with shrimp and Spicy Basil Leaves lunch options to-go which came with soup, salad and appetizer (we chose potstickers and crab rangoon). Â We got a good amount of food for the price, but two stars says it all: Â "Meh. Â I've experienced better."
This was my first time in the place, which looked clean and inviting, albeit small. Â Saw a few people in the restaurant around 12:30pm on a Monday, so I was surprised that my wife's Pad Thai with shrimp had tofu on top (which she did not order). Â My Spicy Basil Leaves wasn't spicy, not even the slightest bit, although it did not come with tofu (was wondering if they put tofu on everything....).
Adding to the experience was the fact that in the to-go bag our salads were placed on top of hot soup containers, causing the salads to be warm by the time I got home. Â And we got no napkins or utensils (on a to-go order...) On a positive note though, the crab rangoon was good and the potstickers were terrific. Â
Will we go back? Â I might, my wife definitely won't. Â Probably a different experience when eating at the restaurant because we would've had the option to reject the tofu-laden Pad Thai, and I could have asked for some spice in my Spicy Basil Leaves.
We did not have a very positive experience here due to the terrible service. We waited 10 minutes after we sat down before anyone came to our table. We then waited another 10 minutes for water and to be told that they were all out of the mocha smoothie we'd ordered. We ordered vegetable spring rolls and were told they could make them without meat. However, they clearly had chicken inside. After we were finished, a staff member stopped by to see how we were doing. He neglected to clear our dirty plates, though. The pad Thai and crazy noodles were both very good, but we just couldn't get over the poor service. We will likely not return to this restaurant.
Review Source:We have picked up carryout from Yum Yum multiple times and we love love love it. We have been looking for a good Thai restaurant for the past four years since we moved here from the East Coast and we feel like we *finally* found one that rivals the neighborhood one we used to frequent.
We have never encountered the service problems that any of the other reviewers had mentioned. I have always been greeted immediately and they have had my order ready within 10-15 minutes of placing the order. My husband likes extremely spicy food and this is the only Asian restaurant in the area that actually will spice it to his heat level (think habanero hot.) I'm not Thai but I know good Thai food--I can honestly say that this is the only Thai restaurant in the Naperville/Bolingbrook/Plainfield area that serves truly quality, delicious and authentic Thai food. Â This would be a great location for a date night--the decor is beautiful and they also offer outdoor seating.
Absolutely fantastic!  I'm looking forward to going again!  Nice decor, clean restrooms and good service.  I loved  my crazy noodle dish!!!
This is absolutely the best Thai restaurant in all of the Chicago suburbs. Â
I can't get enough of this place--we go almost every week now! Â Awesome food!!
Mommy dearest was eager to take me here for lunch one day when I was visiting her. She claimed it was one of the better Thai places in the area, and I would have to agree with here. Good Thai food is sort of hard to come by in the western burbs. This place serves all the typical Thai fixins: pad thai, pad see ewe, various curries, lard nar, etc. The Thai Crazy noodles were not as spicy as indicated in the menu. Globs of Sriracha was needed for that extra kick it needed. The pad thai was good though, not chewy like a lot of other places. And the som tam (green papaya salad) was decent, though my grandma makes it better-but I'm not trying to be biased here...
Our waitress, who is also the owner I think, was extremely friendly. Like overly friendly. She was cute though. I like her. Apparently my parents have been there a few times before and she recognized my mom and they've become quite chummy. She came to ask us if we needed anything about ever five minutes. That's not an exaggeration. Good service, but it was a bit overwhelming.
I don't think I will go out of my way to come here just for Thai food, but if I'm in the area, and desperately seeking Thai food that my mom can't make for me I'll come here.
My wife is Thai and I lived there for 5 years, so take that info as you will. My wife and I just tried Yum Yum for the first time today and were pretty impressed. There are no other Thai restaurants in the Naperville area as good as this one (food-wise). We go to Thai Ocha in Darien when we want authentic. We had the Yam Bla-dook foo (like a catfish salad on the menu) and the Haw-mok (I think it is listed as a fish curry something). These dishes are harder to find items even at good Thai restaurants, so we were impressed that they had them. They also have a great selection of meat salads (Yam Neua, Neua Nam-tok, Yam Bla-meuk, etc.) so score another point towards authenticity. Plus they have some southern Thai dishes not usually found in the usual Wrigleyville places in Chicago.
Per the owner's suggestion, we also had the Hoi Tod, which was very nice.
The dishes we ordered were slightly different than we were used to but had great flavor and MOST importantly my wife approved of them :)
Very nice decor, seating, etc. Service was fine because we were the only ones in there for lunch.
Price was very good, especially for a nice restaurant in Naperville.
So not quite 5 stars yet, but we will definitely be back to try more dishes.
BTW, all the kitchen staff were Thai and I went back to complement them in Thai (with a dash of Lao for fun).
BY FAR the best attempt at an authentic Thai restaurant in the Naperville area in the dozen or so years that we have lived here!
Thank you Yum Yum!
I'm half Thai and have been looking forward to this restaurant opening for MONTHS. Â I had read online that the owner was Thai and wanted to make authentic Thai dishes for the area. Â Many of the "Thai" restaurants in Naperville are actually Vietnamese. Â We ordered takeout for our first experience, and we went with our usual fare: basil leaves dish with chicken (bai ka prow), pad Thai (also with chicken), and fish cakes (tod mun). Â
The picture online shows the bai ka prow with minced meat, which made me happy because that is the way I am used to it. Â Though here in the States many vegetables are usually added, the meat should be the highlight. Â However, I was told over the phone that they only could do chopped chicken. Â It came with too many vegetables, like raw whole green beans. Â I guess if I want it the way that I'm used to it, I'll have to cook it myself.
The  fish cakes are 6 very small, quarter-sized disks.  They came with sweet and sour sauce, instead of the traditional cucumber-vinegar dressing.  Not worth it for the price. Â
The pad Thai was DELICIOUS, but mixed in with the fried chicken was a lot of tofu, which turned my husband off entirely-- he hates tofu. Â I like tofu, but was missing green onions you normally see as a garnish.
To mention the service: we were not greeted at the door for several minutes. Â But then the person whom I take to be the owner apologized, as well as the young man who eventually assisted us. Â They very much seemed like they had just opened, and were overwhelmed.
I will try Yum Yum Thai again. Â I WANT them to be the best Thai food around. Â However, like most people nowadays, I am on a limited budget and can't afford to spend money on food that isn't entirely satisfying. Â I am definitely biased, since I was raised eating Thai food. Â Yum Yum Thai, you can do better!
The food was good but the service was terrible. They did just open a week ago so maybe they will get their act together (and get their liquor license!)... but there was noone at the front to greet and seat you, the food took up to an hour to come out, and the phone was ringing off the hook the whole time with no-one to answer it. Â I ordered the vegetable potstickers (I'm a vegetarian), and when they came out I took a big bite and they were clearly filled with chicken. When I asked about it I was told this was the only type they had. There are plenty of places to get good food without having to put up with service like this.
