51st State was one of the first DC bars I fell in love with once I moved to the District. Located on the fringes of Foggy Bottom and Georgetown, the 51st State is a perfect location to start at and move elsewhere or spend the whole night (or at least until they kick you out). I love their draft beer list every time I go - it has a bit more variety than the typical Bud, Bud Light and Miller Light options that other DC bars typically carry for the college student variety. Also, the food is great - I definitely recommend their wings or their boneless chicken appetizers. Awesomeness is their cocktails - only $6.50 for happy hour Monday through Friday! They have patio and indoor seating, a pool table upstairs, and the staff is always fun. Definitely check this place out!
Review Source:Cheap beer! Â Cheap wings! Â That's about all I've had here. Â It's a "divey" sports bar and yes, i don't normally frequent divey places and probably would not come here on the regular except for the fact that:
THEY ARE A NEW YORK BAR!!!! Â I repeat THEY ARE A NEW YORK BAR!!!!!!!
Bonus Bonus Bonus points and love love love to them! Â So whenever I want to watch a NY sports game with similar elitist NY sports fans, I come here. Â Case closed.
Best memory: Â Watching the NY Giants WIN the Superbowl haha suck on that Bellicheck! Â PARTAYYY! Â Great spot ot watch NY Yankees games, especially since DC cable networks don't include the YES Network, sigh. Â NY sports team haters beware: you've been warned.
Came here after our disappointing dinner at Paper Moon - just trying to relax and decompress from our cross country flight, trying to find our place, and race to our NWM DC check-in before they closed on Friday.
We sat at the bar and had a couple of beers. LOVED that they had East Coast beers on tap (probably not a big thing for others - but hey! we usually only get West Coast over here!)
Hung out for a little over an hour and watched basketball. The place wasn't very crowded which was nice for us.
