I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. The delivery service was abysmal. We had to walk a block to pick up the "delivery" because the delivery driver claimed he couldn't find parking. Then, to add insult to injury, we paid 40 dollars for a 27 dollar meal because the driver claimed he only had 4 dollars change. I hate to admit, but this is the second similar experience with this restaurant. We will absolutely never order from there again.

I was at work one day and was jonesin' for a kabob. My usual kabob place is Mazadar in Fairfax. But I was in Arlington and patience isn't one of those things I have. Enter: Afghan Kabob House!

As I sat at my desk, waiting to go home, I noticed AKH had a website that I could order from. Sweet! I placed my order. One chicken, one steak kabob. Potatoes. Rice with carrots and raisins. It comes with salad and naan. All this for like $13! I picked up my food and rushed home.

The food is GREAT! Every single morsel that I could eat before I got crazy full. The rice was my favorite.

I also found out that they deliver. *swoon* This has been helpful quite a few times.

So this is my local go-to kabob place. The food is good. The people are nice. That's pretty much all I require.

Ordered delivery here, and will never do it again. they took two hours to get me my food. i ordered online and typed in my address on a computer. when i called after an hour and 30 they said  "they guy couldn't find you because the online order says M street" I said " well mam i know where i work, why would i type in a different street name?". they seem to believe that I don't know where I work. The guy got lost ...okay, I tipped him well and was nice when he finally showed up. I can understand if i called and they heard me wrong but i typed it and then was blamed for giving the wrong address. all i had to do was hit back on the browser twice and there it was, the correct address on the order. The food was ok. i guess it was because it was cold and i had to eat the rice with the cap from the sauce they gave me. When you order delivery from here, ask for utensils.

I can't stop ordering Afghan Kabob House on Seamless. It's too easy, and too good. Has to be one of the best places that delivers to Rosslyn. Just make sure you order one of the kabobs and get the brown rice with raisins.

One of our go-to places for delivery.
The chicken breast kabob is always fresh, and I love the rice with raisins.  The sambosa is excellent as well.  I love the mild sauce that comes with the kabobs.

You really can't go wrong with this restaurant for delivery, in my opinion.

I love this place. At lunch, expect to spend $7 - $10 plus tax for a whole lot of food. The staff is nice, the food is well-seasoned, and there are plenty of seats. You can even get food delivered or order it online. It does not get 5 stars because the food is occasionally too salty or is a little messy, but it's nothing that would ever make me stop eating there.

The food here is excellent if you know what to order. You basically can't go wrong with the following menu items:

-boneless dark meat chicken kebob (very tender and well seasoned)
    -eggplant
-bread (they get a really nice crisp)
    -spinach and rice
    -carrot, raisins, and rice
    -salad
    -baklava

I would say order other items at your own risk. The white meat chicken kebob was a little too dry for my liking, as was the shami kebob. The hummus is slightly watery, which was very off-putting. Maybe it's my low expectations for food in Washington, but if I know I can get a good meal at a place, I don't need every item on the menu to be excellent to appreciate it.

Bonus: Free delivery with a very wide radius

I've had food from Afghan Kabob house delivered, and eaten there several times.  But I finally learned my lesson.  Every time I have eaten there, and every one I have eaten with have had severe intestinal distress for about a day afterwards.  Like stuck on a toilet and really regretting eating there.  I was willing to give it another try, but after the 3rd time, and multiple friends having the same problem, I will never go back.

Ordered delivery from there last night. It was fast - under 40 minutes, not too expensive, and there were lots of menu options. I got the chicken kebab meal and fries shrimp. The shrimp were great - large and even though fried, not too greasy. The chicken was also very good and you got a lot of food for your money. The rice was good, but most of the other sides were so-so. The hummus was bland - but again a lot of it. The naan was decent but wasn't very authentic. The cauliflower had good seasoning but seemed to have a lot of oil. Overall I'd order agin because I was full after the chicken and some rice, so the sides didn't matter. Maybe I'd try different ones though, just to see.

I came to Afghan Kabob House late on a weekend night with a group of friends. I ordered the chicken breast kabob sandwich. The chicken was flavorful and satisfying and the hummus I got as a side was pretty good as well. I think this a good lunch spot if you're in the area or if you're winding down a night of drinking and are in the neighborhood. It is satisfying and reasonably priced.

Decent selection; large portions; messily presented; spot-on taste.

I have a mild obsession with hummus (but honestly, who doesn't?), so that was an obvious order. The Afghan bread, as well, had to be ordered to enjoy with the hummus. Then the chicken kabob platter with its spicy marinade and spice rub, as well as the flavorful rice paired nicely all in one bite.

This was a messy meal, and not one I would recommend for a first date. This is more in the 10-15th date realm of messy eating. (Don't worry, I was here with friends!)

I enjoyed my meal, but as I don't live in Courthouse, I can't say that I'll be making a special trip here anytime soon.

Afghan Kabob House is great!.. for when you're walking back from one of the (precious few) bars in Court House and it's the only open spot that serves food.

The kebabs are perfectly serviceable, but nothing to go out of the way for.  The sides I had were varied.. some of the stews were very tasty, but with obnoxiously large (think a quarter of an eggplant) chunks of vegetables that are nigh-impossible to eat on the go and with a plastic fork.

Some of the staff are nice, and offer fresh-brewed tea at night!

I love this place!  As a vegetarian married to an avowed carnivore, I sometimes have a hard time finding restaurants we can both enjoy.  He loves the kabobs, and the sides (chickpeas, lentils, naan, etc) are more than enough to make a delicious meal for me!  Never eaten in, but delivery is always timely.

Solid lunch spot right in the middle of Courthouse.  Luckily for me, I was able to redeem a Scoutmob deal for some freebies.  I order their "famous" gyro, which was a combination of beef and lamb seasoned, topped with tzatziki sauce,
served with mixed greens in a panini bread open faced along with some lentil soup and free wheat naan.  The tzatizki sauce was a bit bland and runny as and the lentil soup was bland as well.  However the bread here is quite good!  The gyro itself was good as well and filling.  I also liked the brown basmati rice that came with carrots and raisins as well as the chickpeas here.  For less than $10 you get a lot of food.  I'm sure if you were to order a platter you would easily have leftovers or can split one with another person.

If you can't make the trip to Ravi, Afghan Kabob is a solid choice.

Whoo pretty good. I ordered the lamb salad and the lamb was perfectly cooked. six huge chunks lay atop of a bed of lettuce, feta and some veggies. There was a $12 minimum delivery so I ordered some baklava to meet it. It was OK. Definitely not homemade.

Thanks to GrubHub, I can now order from this place even though I live in Pentagon City.  I was a little wary of ordering from here because I saw some negative reviews of it on GrubHub.  The reviews were wrong.  I had a chicken kabob salad and the kabob was really well flavored and juicy.  My husband had a lamb kabob platter and really liked it as well.  I'm subtracting a star for the hummus, which came a side dish to my husband's kabob -- it was bland, watery and overall nasty.  Don't get the hummus.  Do get the kabobs.

Excellent food, great service and very convenient hours. ...and on top of that they do deliveries until 3am!

The food was very good, many options to choose from. I found the price to be just right for all the food I've got. Although I was charge for an incorrect plate, overall I can say that the staff provided a great service,  specifically the manager on shift who was very kind in making up for the their error.

Worst delivery, possibly worst food, I've ever had.  We got gyros, falafel, baklava, vegetable sambosa, carrot raisin rice, and spinach.  Everything was WAY too salty, so salty it actually hurt our tongues. The tzaziki, the meat, the sides, everything tasted like it was made of 50% salt - and this is coming from a salt lover!  The baklava was stale with too much honey, the tandoori naan was stale and chewy.  We tried everything, and after a few bites, we had to throw away the $40 worth of food we ordered.  Everything was inedible. Stay away!

Most of the Beef plate I had was excellent, except for the hummus - it  seemed to be from a can although I have never seen hummus from a can.  I am from out of town and was visiting on business, but I was honestly expecting a bit more in terms of legitimate Afghan food.
That hummus ruined it for me.

Had our meals delivered to our hotel. Person taking my order kept insisting I choose the sauces with my meal (tzatziki, hot, mild).... when I got my order - no sauces were provided and no utensils/silverware. I called back - the person that took my order said no other place that delivers food provides utensils/silverware...

Food was ok - the service was poor. I would have given it a higher rating if the service was better.

An office favorite for lunch. White meat chicken breast kabobs are very good. Rices, hot/taziki sauces, and curry potatoes are excellent.
Tips: Meat is grilled fresh (yay), but can take a while during lunch rush. Call in meat orders beforehand. Then, those ordering meat will get to eat at the same time as those getting the buffet line food only.
When you order rice, ask them to add some sauce from the potatoes or eggplant.
If you're not sure what to order, ask for suggestions. Most of the staff is very helpful.

We're in DC for the weekend. After a night of barhopping in Dupont Circle, we didn't know where to go for some late-night food, so we had Kebob House delivered to the hotel. All in all, the food is OK, with some dishes almost great, but many so far from good it isn't even funny.

I ordered lamb and chicken kebab sandwiches, which came rolled up in flat bread. The meat was very good. I just wish there were some flavor to the limp lettuce and orangey brown tomatoes. The hot sauce was really good (and necessary to give these sandwiches some life), but I didn't realize that I was being charged for extra hot sauce. Lame!

The hummus is almost great. The flavors are perfect, and I love that there was some fresh sumac sprinkled across the top. I just wish it were a little thicker and less watery.

The tabbouleh was, like, wtf? Isn't there supposed to be some bulgar in there? and garlic? and lemon juice? and salt?! This is chopped up parsley and mint (stems included), a half teaspoon of bulgar, with onion and the same subpar waxy tomatoes featured in the sandwiches. One bite was all I could manage.

The falafel was just gross. Four over-fried, tiny discs, with who knows what spices that just tasted weird, served on a bed of iceberg with what was supposed to be tzatziki, but tasted like ranch dressing mixed with that liquid that settles on the top of an opened container of yogurt. And holy wow was it expensive for no apparent reason.

The rice with carrots and raisins was just like chinese fried rice, but with different ingredients. If you like that, you will like this. Take that as you will.

    The Afghan bread was awesome!

I like to end on a high note.

My stomach is like Monopoly- it buys up the same "properties" so that I can pass "Go", collect my winnings and keep on trucking.

So, why would I change up my game when I'm a winner-winner-with-my-chicken-dinner?

Well, just because I'm winning doesn't mean I'm having fun.

Thanks to Groupon, I rolled the dice, landed on "Chance" and advanced my token two spaces (2 miles) towards Courthouse. Sadly, there was no "Free Parking" but you can't win 'em all.

    Meal: Boneless Chicken Breast Kabob
Sides: Hummus, Chick Peas (yes, in addition to hummus) and Brown Rice with carrots and raisins (Qabali perhaps?)

The food took slightly longer than I anticipated, but arrived before I reached for the Yelp mints in my pocket. (Love me some Yelp schwag) I don't mind waiting for something that tastes fresh and is somewhat of an upgrade from what I'm make at home.

The chicken breast was tender, perfectly cooked to my liking and quite pleasing to my palate. The hummus was good, the chick peas were fine, but the rice really shines. I would have traded you "Boardwalk" and "Park Place" for this sweet and savory  Afghan delight.

One week after my first visit I rolled the dice again, this time with a Yelp Deal. The second visit was just as tasty as the first. Recently I decide to bring the game to me and had it delivered to my home. The delivery was unbelievably fast and my stomach was satisfied once again. Compared to other acclaimed restaurants in the area, this Kabob is my new favorite.

Advance token to Afghan Kabob House and collect your tasty morsels. In this game, everyone is a winner.

We came back to use our second Groupon, and I must admit that my meal was decidedly better than last time. The meat was more tender and juicy, and I loved the veggie sides i chose. I think this place is a win, for the price.

I had the shami kabob with chick peas. The kabobs were decent, the chick peas tasted like they were fresh from a can with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top...:(  the Baklava was average. They charge for extra white sauce, no bueno. Will probably not be back.

The food gets 4 stars but the easy and free delivery to Rosslyn bumps it up a star. Always nice and always fast. The food isn't anything special if you're a fan of this kind of food (so, deliciously stewed veggies and roasted meats with rice and bread) but only because the baseline is so good. :-) Taste-wise and in value.

Also smoked hookah there one night. If only they had a liquor license to sell bottles of beer...

I visited Afghan Kabob for a second time today. This time my boyfriend and I decided to sit in.

-Beef Kabob - Beef pieces, cauliflower, rice and salad.
My boyfriend really liked the cauliflower and thought the meat was much better this time around.

-Greek Salad - Salad with vegetables, sauces, chicken, and gyro slices.
I loved the chicken salad and the warm bread that comes with it. My boyfriend fell in love with my gyro slices and said he is definitely ordering just that when he returns.

There are lots of options for sides and the meat was nice and juicy. We would definitely come back!

It is also a easy/quick place to stop for dinner if you are trying to catch a courthouse movie -- its right across the street.

Have eaten there 3X now - one delivery, one pick-up and once sat down for lunch.  All were good.

They make the kabobs and bread to order, so if you're in a hurry -- I suggest ordering something else.  The veggies are already made & they have them displayed so you can choose.  The chicken kabobs are prob my favorite with the mild sauce.  I don't suggest the tziki sauce - it tasted more like ranch dressing.

Staff was very helpful.  I opted out of the bread & she gave me a substitute veggie.  Also, good portion sizes.

Ordering online was easy, but the restaurant ignored everything I wrote on my order!
I asked for no cheese and no bread, and they put both cheese and bread in my dish, which means they had to completely re-make the food after I got there because I can't have either ingredient.

The menu doesn't say that the dish I ordered had cheese on it, either. When I pointed that out, the lady at the counter rudely and loudly came back at me with "all of our salads have cheese!". I pointed out that on their menu, only ONE salad is listed with cheese as an ingredient, but she just kept repeating herself that "all of our salads have cheese!"

When my dish finally came, the amount of meat on it was scrawny - if you order a chicken kebab you get only three measly pieces. Save yourself the trouble and order from another one of the kabob places in Arlington- the food will be MUCH better, and the service will be MUCH nicer. I won't be going back to Afghan Kebab House again.

What distinguishes Afghan Kabob House from every other kabob vender is that the good people who work there will let you substitute items for no charge (within reason). You're on a low-carb diet and don't eat rice? No problem. They'll hook you up with lentils.

Beyond that, the food is pretty good - maybe not the best. However, in a market full of so-so kabobs, excellent service is a damn good competitive advantage.

Oh, I forgot to mention the complimentary tea. It's not just black tea, it's some amazing flavored tea!

    Bravo guys!!

I ordered the lamb/chicken kabob combo for delivery, with a side of chickpeas and a side of lentils.

So the good stuff first - the lamb and chicken were really good.  Like pretty darn tasty.  The bread was pretty good too.

The ok stuff - the chickpeas were ok.  I've had better, but I've also had worse.  The lentils were good but too salty.  Cut back on the salt and add some more spice and they would have been good.  The hummus was ok.  Once again I've had a lot better, but I've also had worse.  The brown rice was meh, I also felt it was salty.  The hot sauce was also just ok.

Would I go back, yeh.  But I'd order the sandwich so I just get the yummy kabob meat and not any of the sides that I didn't find especially great.

I have been to several kabob places around the city and so far this one is the best BY FAR!

Pro: Large menu. There are a lot of kabob, salad, and combos to choose from. I usually get the kabob combo with beef and lamb which comes with bread, rice, and two sides. I skip the bread and rice so they thrown in an extra side.

Pro: The meat is delicious! That is why you go out for kabob right? for the meat? the meat is all fresh, tender and well seasoned.

Pro: Lots of sides and options. You can get either salad with a choice a few dressings or hummus. There are a few different types of rice to choose from and then several side veggie options. I generally go for the eggplant, cauliflower and sub the bread for spinach.

MAJOR PRO: Free delivery! You can order right off their website or LivingSocial and it is delivered pretty quickly!

Con: Even if you are eating in, they give you your food in throw away styrofoam containers. There is so much to throw away at the end of your meal! Plastic bags, plastic forks and knives, to-go boxes, makes you feel a little bad for adding so much to the landfills.

I ordered delivery from their website and it was fast, here within 35 mins, which is perfect on a cold, rainy DC winter day.

As for the food itself, I had the boneless chicken which had some spice and was lean, and not too dry. They give you a good amount of chicken. The curry potatoes had good flavor without being too overpowering. The rice was a little dry/overcooked to me but overall not bad. The naan is thinner and crispier than some I have tried. This isn't a bad thing and means it is less "doughy" and crispier.

I'll order from here again and would recommend delivery next time you want kabobs but are too lazy to head to the restaurant.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars, but have to go with a solid three.  It's three with a happy face.

I ordered the boneless chicken breast kebab with the carrot and raisin rice, hummus, and potatoes.  With this is the huge piece of Afghan bread, which I give five stars.  It's much better (in my opinion) than naan - a lot crispier and perfect to drag through the hummus and tzatziki.  By the way, was the mild tzatziki pretty darn spicy?  I was confused.  The chicken was really tender and nice, the rice bordered on too sweet for my taste - don't think I'll get the carrot raisin kind next time - and the hummus was some of the best I've had in a while.  The potatoes were tender and just mushy enough - I wanted to swirl everything together on my plate and eat it like a giant soup.

My boyfriend got the Negina - Jewel of Persia with the carrot raisin rice, cauliflower, and potatoes.  He convinced me to try some of the cauliflower, which, even though I really dislike cauliflower and broccoli, was fork tender and much better than I expected.  I didn't like his lamb as much as my chicken, and it was kind of a funny gray color.

Portions were enormous, and we left with carryout containers overflowing.  The servers were polite and knowledgeable - I'd like to return sometime and try something lighter so that I'm not rolled out of the place.  A salad, mayhaps?

The only reason I ordered from Afghan Kabob is because I was starving and lazy.  Not much with good reviews delivers to me, but this place does, and the reviews are decent.   Unfortunately, I disagree with them.

I found the lamb kabob to be overcooked and except for having a kick of heat, it was fairly flavorless.  It did not taste particularly fresh, either.  The yellow rice with cumin was fine, and the cilantro jalapeno sauce was fairly spicy, so those were redeeming qualities.  Eggplant was big, round slices, which I hate (I prefer smaller cubes), in a tomato, pepper, onion sauce.  While not awful, the eggplant to sauce ratio was off.  I would have enjoyed more eggplant.  Bread was fine, though I prefer a dough-ier, less crisp naan.  I did like the salad - it was fresh and crisp.   However, there are much better kabob places, and I won't be returning here, no matter how lazy I get.
