We had the stuffed pizza with sausage and mushroom. I thought the crust was very good - nice and crispy. We ate in so I'm not sure the crispiness would have been the same if we did carryout or delivery.

The cheese was REALLY superior to other deep dish pizza places. Nice and soft and velvety but not salty.

Could have had more sausage on the pizza - thought that was a little sparse.

The house salad was good also. It was very fresh with the most delectable little house made croutons/crostini. If they bagged these, I would eat them like chips!

Bacino's now falls 3rd in my list of fav Chicago deep dish/stuffed effectively shoving out Lou Malnati's. #1 is still My Pie for superior crust, excellent sausage and epic sauce. #2 is Gulliver's.

Went because we had a groupon. Which now seems like a great deal.

Ordered two small deep dish- one with sausage, mushroom and onions the other with pepperoni.

Loved. it. would go back in a minute. Enjoying cold pizza for breakfast leftovers. Delicious.

Overpriced pizza. Their deep dish is good, but nothing to run home about. It's really the only thing worth ordering. Otherwise, their regular pizza (or thin crust) is near $20 with tax and tip for a large. You could get a medium, 2-topping from across the street for a third of the price at Dom___o's and tasting better. Don't quite get the management and servers in here. None of them are Italian or even from Chicago and they are quite rude. They have coupons on their menus but never mention those even when you are local. Oh, and we were served dirty classes. Check out the picture. All in all, go somewhere else.

Just returned home from our 1st, and last, experience at Bacino's, Lincoln Park. Food: We ordered the thin crust cheese pizza and the antipasto plate. The antipasto plate was overly salty and drenched (and drenched again) in olive oil. The pizza, let's just say it was a salt-bomb, with a touch of even more salt. Our server, Dina, was less than cordial. Her subtle snips and visible attitude to our questions of menu items were not appreciated. Overall - not a good experience. Go to any other pizza place instead. For a Lincoln Park destination, you should expect a much better experience....

I went to this place a while back and thought it was so cool that they're deep dish pizza can be ordered in a heart shape. Its my anniversary and I thought it'd be so awesome to go to this place and have a romantic evening and of course, an awesome heart shaped pizza.....NOT!! What did I miss with this place? Was there a new management change or has their service and food literally turn to shit?? We get there and ask for our heart shaped pizza and our waitress claims she has never in her life heard of heart shaped pizza being served at this restaurant and insists theres no such thing. My husband pulls out his phone and shows her how their is a picture of heart shaped pizza on their website which in turn made this girl go ask somebody who should know....our waitress asks the host who sat us at our table. They were literally 2 feet away from us and we heard the entire convo, which was something along the lines of "Its way too busy to do that just tell em we dont do it anymore." So our waitress literally turns around and tells us "we dont have that anymore". Ok I get it you're too lazy to grab a pan, clean it, grease it and prep it. Whatever. I'm still starving enough to stay here and order food. So I order a regular round stuffed pizza. The middle dough of my pizzza was so wet it literally tasted like raw dough. Our appetizers were sooo blah and in much need of salt. And boy oh boy was my soda flat. But its my anniversary so I'm making the most of the whack appetizers and normal round yet undercooked pizza. Before I left I took it upon myself to ask to speak to a manager. And surprise!! It was the host who sat us. No wonder everything sucked the manager's a lazy scrub who obviously doesnt give two shits about pleasing customers. The host proceeds to tell me prep time for a heart shaped pizza is up to 45 minutes...um i waited an hour for my lame undercooked round one. I told the guy I heard everything he said when the waitress asked him about the pizza. He gave me a half ass sorry and a bajillion excuses. I told him I came her to eat right...not for your excuses. He kinda shrugged it off and informed me that my waitress would take my debit card at the table for payment. When I paid I signed my receipt and did NOT give the waitress a tip. Instead on the tip line of the reciept I wrote : "NEXT TIME A CUSTOMER ASKS FOR HEART SHAPE PIZZA GIVE IT TO THEM!! THAT'S YOUR TIP!!"

Food is good but I don't recommend EVER ordering for delivery because they will never get your order correct. I am always up for giving places a second and third try, but the past four times we have ordered delivery, two of those times something was missing from our order and once the order was completely wrong all together. When I asked for the order to be rectified the deliver guys came back with the most awful attitude even though we tip them again for coming back. I wish they could fix this problem but as of now we are boycotting bacinos.

NOTHING EXCLUSIVE!

This was a part of my to-do list in Chicago. My initial plan was to go to Gino's (had seen it in Man vs Food Chicago episode) but Gino's has very long wait hours and therefore I choose Bacino's from Yelp.

DECOR: This place is well done with beer /wine crate labels nicely placed on the wall. Trendy atmosphere and a cool place!

FOOD: We ordered the Tuscan Style Bruschetta (Appetizer) and Spinach Supreme Pizza and Bacino Special Pizza (6 inches small/personal pan). By the way, on the menu the stuffed pizza's are the deep dish ones. Well, I didn't know that and had to ask the waiter.
The Bruschetta was very fresh and was served with garlic bread. It was a soothing dish.
My stomach was already filled with the Bruschetta and hence I could not enjoy the pizza. Also, one personal pan deep dish pizza is enough for two people. It is the stuffing that makes the dish heavy. The taste of the pizza's weren't that great!

SERVICE: The waiter is friendly and polite. I went there on a weekend evening and did not have to wait. However, this item (deep dish pizza) takes 1 hour

PRICE: Reasonable and per head was $ 10-15 approx if you order the 1 personal pan pizza and 1 appetizer.

My aunt took me here when I was in town visiting her. I died when I ate the Chicago style pizza. It even tasted awesome the next day when I re-heated the leftovers.

I also loved their craft beer selection. My old fashioned parents asked for Bud Light and I had to crack up when the waitress had to tell them that they don't carry beers like that. So they had to "suffer" with high quality craft beers. I am happy that they were able to give them a little education on beers.

I use to work across the street from Baccinos. I walked in for lunch with friends and had the Penne Al Forno. 2 years ago!!

Now STAY AWAY!! at least from delivery standpoint.
I moved location and there are times I crave the Penne. So I have it delivered, yet WHAT A BUNCH OF CROC!

The delivery guy (not being racist) he is an Asian who had been there since I remember. Always has such a stink face, like he hates being there. Attitude to the 10th power. Tried to be nice but NADA.
So this guy is the man who brings my food?? :
He always forgets to place something that he should know would go in the bag.
Not only, when calling the place and calling them on it. I get an attitude. REALLY??
The service I remember was not good, always took long to come get our order or was rude.
I wondered why no one really was there during lunch hour.
The pizza is okay. Definitely not the best. (GINO'S EAST IS)

I gave them 2 chances to redeem themselves and now BLAH! Over it.
I suggest you don't go here.

Bacinos pizza is probably my second favorite for thin crust in the city (first is Pizanos). It's delicious and fairlly healthy, considering.

Their delivery, however, is horrendous. You never know what you're going to get. Every time I call to order, I talk to someone who has no idea what they are doing. I usually have to spend 10 minutes explaining to the person what I want. Then by the time the pizza arrives, the delivery person is rude, and the pizza is typically less than luke warm. It's always disappointing. However, the taste of the pizza keeps me coming back.

We met some friends for after dinner drinks here over the weekend and the experience was one of the best I've had in the city. They were closing, but allowed us to stay, drink, talk, and catch-up. Our server was very friendly. I was drinking beer and the manager a/o owner let me try a few samples of styles that were similar to what I was drinking. The beer selection overall was pretty amazing too! Open air on a beautiful night -- a great night. We didn't get to try the food, but for the service alone I will make it a point to return very soon!

We live in MN but every time we visit Chicago we make a stop at Bacino's. And we always have deep dish pizza (although my brother raved about the spaghetti which was a good sized portion). My favorite is sausage, garlic, mushroom and green olive. The key is that the garlic compliments the light, tomato sauce on the pizza.

They also have beer flights but stay away from the two rabbits - it tastes like lemon pee. ;)

Steer clear of Bacino's and just make your way to the nearest Lou Malnati's. My husband and I went here in July when we were visiting the city trying to find an apartment to rent. It was hot outside and I recall walking for quite awhile around Lincoln Park prior to arriving at the restaurant. Bacino's was almost as hot inside as it was outside - at first it felt like there was no relief from the heat.

Second, it seemed to attract a lot of annoying children and their parents' who don't know how to discipline kids. There was a large party of 2-3 families sitting across from us and the kids are jumping on the seats and practically screaming. The parents don't say a word about the behavior. Additionally, in the basement where the bathrooms are located, there was some kind of party after a little league game and same thing...out of control children. I know this is not Bacino's fault, but if you want to enjoy your meal without screaming children, I wouldn't recommend going here.

Lastly, the pizza was alright. Not as tasty or memorable as Lou Malnati's.

i absolutely love this place. way better than it's sister just south of the river.

it's quite simple: american pizza is the best in the world, chicago pizza is the best in america, and bacino's is the best deep dish in chicago.

my suggestion: keep your deep dish simple. if you add too much you start to lose the amazing flavor of their sauce, and lose the texture of their crust. i usually go for a plain ol' cheese, or when i'm with other people who demand somthing on their pizza, i go for spinach and mushroom. mmmm!

Knowing that Bacino's is a deep dish place I had held off to trying. Pequod's is my place for deep dish and anytime I stray there is always a let down in store for me. A friend raved about their thin crust, so I had to try. Since it was 100ºF, I had a pizza craving, and I didn't feel like going into a deep dish coma I headed to Bacino's. They have a great selection of beer, and the pizza came out quickly. They pile on the cheese and toppings. Their pizza sauce is perfect. This will now be my new place to get thin crust/regular. The only complaint I had was that it was a little inside. However this was probably due to the fact that it was so hot outside.

If you haven't been, GO!

I LOVE deep dish pizza. Until recently, the best I had ever had was Zachary's in Oakland, but I realized that I couldn't really say I'd had Chicago style pizza until I had deep dish in Chicago, so I visited Chicago for the sole purpose of making it my pizza odyssey. I did plenty of research, and read about this place in the local CBS article from September 1, 2011. I was super excited to try the place and made a point of waiting in front of the store 30 min before it opened to make sure I was first in line for the day.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! The crust was dry, there wasn't enough sauce. The sausage was greasy...overall, disappointing.

If you want really good deep dish, go visit Zachary's the next time you are in northern California.

4.5 stars, with minus 0.5 stars for the ambience given that it could be much better given its prime Lincoln Park location. With that said, I absolutely love deep dish, and Bacino's is without question the royalty of Chicago deep dish pizza for me. I usually bounce back and forth between this and the Wacker Dr location, which is closer to where I live.

The ingredients are always fresh and the pizza never tastes soggy, unlike Giordano's. They also usually have a decent selection of microbrews to choose from if you are dining in. Ground beef is delicious...I've never tried any of their pre-designed combo topping pizzas. There's nothing distinct about their flavor like the Gino's cornmeal crust or the Lou Malnati's butter crust--it's just damn good and I usually feel less bloated after consuming it relative to the other deep dish behemoths. Still don't understand what they're promoting as "heart-healthy" pizza...but this place does make my heart quite content.

Ordered carryout since they were going to be closing in a half hour, and got the Bacino's Special deep dish pizza.

Their deep dish pizza is BOMB, and definitely more than filling, especially the 14" Large size. The sauce is delicious, the crust is an even better treat to munch on.

All in all, huge fan.

Thin crust is usually my choice of pizza, but I occasionally indulge in deep dish. The reason I tend to stay away from deep dish is there is so much cheese in it that it makes me feel like I'm dying.

The ingredients are so fresh and high quality you can taste it in the slice. The spinach pizza is the specialty, but I have to say I liked the pepperoni better. The cheese is real which is great, but it might be too much. The slice is THICK and mostly cheese which made me feel like I was dying (which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing?).

I had bruschetta as an appetizer and it was as good as any bruschetta I've had. I've also tried the caprese salad and that was phenom. The chocolate chip cookies are http://bomb.com (so soft and chewy).

Wine and beer list is extensive and good.

The only reason this isn't five stars is because it's too much cheese for my taste. I even had trouble finishing a personal pizza because of the cheese content. The wait is not unusual for deep dish, so that doesn't bother me but considering they're not usually super busy, they should definitely consider seating for slice-buyers.

Food wise it's four star.... Not having enough time but hungry we wanted to buy slices of pizza. The lady said slices are for to go orders only. we ask for an exception she said no can do. She will not allow us to sit there plus at that time their slice choices were vey limited. So we had no choice but to order a whole pizza.

She showed us to the dining area and of course there were only one other party there. We wanted the deep dish but she told us it will take 30 minutes. So we opt for thin crust and well unlucky for us that also took 30 mins or more. A group of people sat behind us 10 minutes after we ordered but somehow they got their pizza first. Hungry and disappointed by our experience we were hoping the food was good.

When it finally came out the pizza was piping hot.. Too hot to eat, so we had to wait for it to cool down a little. Finally time to take a bite, super delicious, their cheese, and sausage plus veggies were so amazingly good. I was very surprised by their crust it was perfect crisp.

Overall if u didn't feel force to order a whole pizza I would have given them a higher Rating.

My band came through Chicago and as soon as we stepped into this fine city we wanted to find some killer Chicago pizza. Perhaps it could be that we hadn't eaten since 9 am (it was 10 pm) but that sh*t got me pregnant.

A couple of Jamisons on the rocks and two slices later I was happier than a pervert at a boyscout convention. I shot tomato sauce and whiskey outta my moobs into a gorgeous firework-like display. Real happy I was.

The pizza pie tasted better than all get out. Every last drop of all get out. I'm so pissed in am in DC now. I wish I had a little blow-up Bacino in my pocket. I like pizza better than politics and getting shot in the face.

I give this review based on customer service. When I ordered my x-large pizza I told them I wanted half cheese and half spinach. Also, I said I wanted it cut into PIE SLICES! Upon picking up my pizza I was charged $21.70 which is the price of a spinach supreme instead of the $15.95 for cheese. I thought it would've been a few extra dollars to add an ingredient.

The problem here is NO ONE told me and confirmed the price when I called. My fault for not asking before I hung up but I was in a rush and didn't think much about it. When I picked up the pizza they cut it into squares as opposed to slices. When speaking with the manager he said "i don't see slices on your receipt". That's BS. I'm not in charge of what the person puts on the receipt but if you want to pull the phone records you would hear it.

The pizza was good but I will most likely not be going back for POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Business owners should realize the CUSTOMER IS FIRST!

I can't speak to Bacino's as an authority on Chicago-style pizza, because I'm not local and haven't been able to compare it to the rest of the places around town.

However, I can speak to my own lifelong relationship with pizza, which is both passionate and extra-dirty-filthy.

Bacino's deep dish tickled me in a way that would have been inappropriate were it not for the fact that it was a food that did the tickling.

If you're looking for the best Chicago styled pizza, look no further than Bacinos. My favorite and I think soon to be yours. Their Spinach Pizza is really one of the most delicious meals I've ever had. Though to be fair, it say's heart healthy...it's definitely a meal you cannot have too often due to the amount of cheese and carbs. The other deep dishes are very good as well. You cannot go wrong with their pizza.

As far as pricing, it seems fair for the quality. It does take about 45 minutes to prepare a deep dish so don't expect quick take out or dine in.

Overall, this place is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. I think you'll enjoy their deep dish pizza! (I've had Lou Malnattis, Giordanos)

So I tried Bacino's famous spinach deep dish after hearing about it and it was good but I was very underwhelmed by their sauce. I like my sauce chunky with pieces of tomato and super flavorful. I felt like their's was really lackluster...kind of bland and thin.

On a good note, the spinach and cheese filling was really delicious and the crust was very good.. much better than a few other places I've tried, but for me the sauce makes the pizza and it just didn't do it for me.

Behold the power of Groupon.

I got sucked in by the amazing deal last year, and I got hooked.

The stuffed crust is otherworldly, mostly due to their divine cheese, with a nod to their tangy, chunky tomato sauce and their crunchy, flavorful crust.

They even do individual stuffed crust pizzas for around $6.

Pretty sure I'd be at least two pounds lighter right this second if not for Bacino's. Damn you, delicious Bacino's.

This place reminds of my youth. One of my favorite pizza parlors I used to frequent when I was a teen. My fellow cheerleader friends and I would go to after a weekend game. We would get our pizza, a picture of root beer and some fries and have a blast. There was a juke box (5 plays for quarter) that played some awesome tunes.

Back to reality, my date and I ordered a deep dish with spinach, which happened to be their specialty. The pizza was well made with fresh ingredients. We had wine, it was decent. Finally, dessert which was tiramisu and it was very good. The server and host were very helpful and friendly. I had a pleasant experience here.

Of the 5 critical pizza criteria (crust, cheese, sauce, ingredient quality and balance/ratio of each) Bacino's gets a 3 out of 5.

Crust: We got the thin and it's a pretty substantial thin crust, so much so I asked if it was the thin when she brought it out. Someone completely nailed it in its description: too floury and saltine cracker-esque.

Cheese: Good but, again, as someone below has stated, they don't cook it long enough and it comes out just melted enough...come on, you need to get that nice caramelized, well done golden cheese going, it's pizza ffs.

Sauce: 5/5, it's fantastic and really a major reason this place gets an extra star...semi sweet and made the experience.

Ingredient quality: 4/5, we got the Bacino's special w Sausage (great) Mushroom (great), Green Peppers (good) and Onion (good).

Balance/Ratio of the whole pie: 4/5, really pretty good, made the lackluster crust and cheese sort of an after thought.

Ok. O-KAY, Chicago. You win. All deep-dish isn't the food of the devil, fit only to feed the likes of those "The Hills" dimwits (the blond ones; you know who I am talking about). I have spent five years gagging, avoiding and bad-mouthing Chicago stuffed pizza. And, then I came to Bacino's and had the stuffed Spinach.

"Mmm. Pretty tasty. I haven't had to gag yet. Wait...no, false alarm." I was even able to eat two bites without chasing it with a mouthful of beer. For me, for stuffed pizza, that's a huge deal.

I am not going to eschew (haha) thin crust, BUT if I have to eat stuffed pizza, I know where to go. My only remaining question - why does it take longer to get a stuffed spinach pizza than it does to get the filet mignon at Gibson's? On second thought, I might be back to being afraid of stuffed pizza again.

As I'm typing my review and sitting on the bed eating a slice of Bacino's stuffed pizza, my friend turns the channel to Oprah telling overweight kids- "You are not alone..."

Nice.

Anywho, called in a dine in order for a medium stuffed pizza
-half Spinach Surpreme (spinach with bacino's special blend of cheeses herbs and spices - fresh mushrooms optional at no additional charge)
-half Bacino's Special (italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, green peppers and onions)

Upon arrival, we ordered a pitcher of soda ($4.95) and I decided to try their Friday $5 mojito...but they were out of lime *wompwompwomp*

I asked Lizette (our server) what she'd recommend and she said some sort of martini (it says on the bill 1 Xrated Flirtini, but I don't think that's what it was).

My take on the food:
-I normally eat the crust first (to get the worst out of the way) but the crust was actually good.
-There were 3 of us and after one slice we were stuffed (no pun intended)
-Martini was too sour/bitter. I only finished half of it (I dunno if it's supposed to be that way since it was my first martini ever. At least it looked pretty)

It was my friend's birthday, and they comped a Tiramisu with a lit candle on top

Cool place- except for the sketch restroom (with the sensor paper towel dispenser that tricks you into thinking it will work but doesn't)

Highly recommended :)

Those of you who read my review of Hot Lips Pizza in Portland, OR know that I used to live in Chicago, and that the one thing I really, REALLY miss is Chicago pizza. I can't even specify deep-dish anymore, because truth be told, I haven't even had a decent slice of thin crust since moving to the West Coast. Call me pretentious all you like, but ChiTown is the ONLY town for the best pie. And the best of the best?

Bacino's, hands down. (Where does that phrase even come from? Guess I have some Wiki surfing to do after I type this up...anyway...)

I could go on and on about the fresh, aromatic dough that forms the light-yet-crisp crust, the 100% natural gooey, plentiful and creamy mozarella, thick, spicy pepperonis, and (oh good LORD, the things I miss the most...) rich, cooked-to-perfection sauce. (To all Chicagoans reading this review: you have NO idea what atrocities are utilized as sauce out here! I swear to you, one place actually uses stewed tomatoes!)

This is the pinnacle of pizza perfection - and any stuffings that you can think of are of similar quality and VAST quantity - biting into a Bacino's deep dish is like biting into an edible treasure chest, all of the flavors are balanced so perfectly that you can taste each, and yet somehow they exist as one single entity of flavor. How is a mystery, but one that I am more than willing to let go - just please please please keep it going...and maybe open a joint out here in PDX so I can finally show the natives what pizza is meant to be?

I have to wrap this up...I'm jonesing for that which I cannot have, and it is actually starting to depress me. Chicagoans, you truly are blessed by the pizza gods.

After many years of eating pizza from the Bacino's stand at the Taste, I have finally visited the actual restaurant. It was empty when I walked in and the vibe was so mellow. The music that they played, the waitress's voice wasn't irritating...I don't know how this place could be so perfect.

I felt like I was at home....no scratch that, it was way more serene than being at home. It was like I was at a spa and the pizza was masseuse. I ordered the thin crust cheese pizza as usual. So good. The garlic bread with mozzarella cheese on top was delicious and the lasagna was pretty good as well.

Let me tell you the truth now before you're misleaded, Giordano's, Italian Fiesta, and definitely Uno's and Gino's do not stand a chance against Bacino's. The service was great, the pizza was great, the waitress was great, and the seats felt soft and comfortable. After being there for two hours and crying when I had to leave, I decided that I will eventually return to eat at Bacino's again.

And please do not waste your time trying to get a seat at Bella Bacino's on Michigan and Wacker in the summertime, it's crowded as hell.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The thing I miss most about not living in Chicagoland anymore is the deep dish pizza. And places like Bacino's just bring back to me all of the reasons why I miss it so much.

Walking into this place, there's clearly no pretension here. It's not that Bacino's is dumpy, it's that it's comfortable. It's not chic or suave or sassy - it's just simple and earthy and natural. It says, "We're down with who we are, and we have no need or desire to be like anyone else" with the modest conviction of a humble rock star.

The ambiance is just the beginning. As other Yelpers have already mentioned, the spinach special stuffed pizza is crazy delicious. It was good the first time. It was still good as leftover breakfast the next morning. We also got a stuffed Bacino's special (sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, and more). Between six big eaters, those two large pizzas were way more than we could finish off - in fact, we had a half a pizza left over in the end!

As we were waiting on our pizzas (which took about half an hour to cook up - pretty standard for deep dish), one of the operating partners, John, stopped by to talk with us about beer. It's apparent that he's got a great passion on the subject. Apparently Bacino's is one of the biggest buyers of Rogue Ales in the Chicagoland area.

Briefly after John left us to our own devices, he stopped by to share two little tasting glasses of one of the Rogues: the Santa's Private Reserve. It was a truly generous, unexpected gesture and it was some really interesting beer! One of our dining companions ended up getting a glass of it. I, of course, was already feeling pretty darn good from the one beer I'd had already, so I passed. Frigging yellow genes (grumble, mumble). Otherwise, I'd totally have gone for it.

If I still lived in the Chicago area, Bacino's would definitely be on my short list of "locals." Great brew, great service, and even better deep dish. Thankfully, I'm an out-of-towner now, or I'd probably be a couple dozen pounds fatter than I already am!
