I went here after work one Friday with a few coworkers. Â It's kind of a strange location as it's in the first floor of a hotel. Â The bar atmosphere was decent, though it would've been much nicer in warm weather where we could sit outside or by open windows. Â
Our server was nice enough. Â I believe she said it was her first week, and she did a pretty good job. Â I am pretty sure she brought me the wrong beer for round 1, but it was hard to be sure, since it was draft beer. Â The following 2 rounds were the right one though. Â
We split a few appetizers, mostly chips and dips, and they were pretty standard. Â To be expected. Â
I've also been to Bar Louie in the Promenade in Bolingbrook as well as downtown Naperville. Â I'd say the Bar Louie in Oak Brook is a level between the other two. Â The Bolingbrook location is giant, and a better dining atmosphere. Â Downtown Naperville is crammed, has awful clientele, and is much more of a bar atmosphere. Â
Overall I'd say the Oak Brook Bar Louie is OK, and I'll likely go back again, but mostly because it's close to work.
Very small bar hidden away in a hotel. Food is great no doubt about that. Great to come watch a sports game. Trio dips and chips, buffalo chicken flatbreads were great to start off! I had the blue louie burger and it was a bit salty but overall good. Good service, not the best, I wish the servers were more friendly and talked more than just take your order.
Review Source:I actually really liked this Bar Louie. Â I think I like it better than the one in Oak Park. Â It's smaller and has more of an intimate atmosphere which I like. Â They also have a nice beer selection which we all know will bring the Rosie to the yard. Â :0)
It is confusing to get to though. Â You gotta go all around the lobby of the hotel to get there. And I think it's by the pool so be prepared to be bombarded by the smell of cholorine. Â The parking lot is also a bit of a bleep show. Â So if you're gonna stunt be sure to park your car far off so it doesn't come back dented. Â
But getting back to the space itself. Â I think it's very grown and sexy. Â Darker lighting, not a lot of booths. Â Very quaint. Â This would be a nice place for a first date. Â They do try to sell it as a sports bar but I don't think they can. Â Especially with the Tilted Kilt being so close. Â
The food is ok. Â It's Bar Louie food. Â So the same thing you got at the last BL you were at is the same stuff you'll find at this one. Â Nothing more nothing less. Â
Bottom line this is a date spot. Â If you and your people are trying to kick it take it to Tilted Kilt.
