I should start by saying that I've never eaten the food here. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this place, which is south of where I usually stop walking down High Street. They have a great beer selection and a pleasant atmosphere. Nothing particularly special, but it's just a nice place -- a little hidden gem, off the beaten (foot)path.

I ate here a couple of times on a recent business trip because it was open late and close to my hotel. I am a spoiled craft beer person from San Diego, but their wheat beer was fine and went great with the soft pretzels. I also had the pierogi and sausage plate which was decent but probably not as good as you can get elsewhere in C-bus.

Service was a little off-putting - not sure if this was a regional thing, but they pretty much left you alone unless you grabbed their attention. The crowd at the bar was fun when a game was going on, otherwise, it's a pretty mellow vibe.

The perfect place for a beer heist!  Gently poor the beer into these here growlers ya see.

"There are better things in life than alcohol, but alcohol makes up for not having them."  Sir Terry Pratchett

Came in to Barley's to watch the Lakers/Heat game.  Score...looks like there may be some higher gravity beers here.  Ah yes...I love when some homebrew is afoot.

Topnotch craft beers here!  Every beer avoided lingering notes...the melded flavors remained together for a finish that tasted like the first sip.  This does require drinking faster than your grandma Ethel, however.

The atmosphere of Barley's is thriving with locals, tourists, convention attendees, and some of those trendy peeps.  It all comes together and mixes nicely.

It's not in my neighborhood, but I'll come back next time I'm in town.

We were told to check this place out by a tender in another bar. He said "if you like wings, you have to check this place out!" Well we did. When we walked in we stood under the sign that read "Host stand here" for about five minutes with several servers walking by us and people from the bar looking at us. I finally had to grab one of them to make sure I was in the right place to be seated "oh yeah, I'll be over there in a minute"

We were finally seated in a booth. The booths are nice a cozy. Unfortunately, not exactly what we had in mind. So as soon as a bar table opened up, we moved. Unfortunately, NO ONE came to see us. We finally left before we were able to sample the famous wings, which is too bad because I love wings. Maybe next time.

STILL the best wings in Columbus!! Sure I'm wing obsessed, but I know where the best wings in this city are. I put my money on the gates of hell bbq grilled wings here all the time...and always win. $16 for 20 wings. I couldn't even tell you what the 10 wing option costs...that's how good they are. Why are you still reading reviews?!

Their micro brews are tasty and always satisfying. Their service could use some haste. Their burgers are still messy as hell & yummy. I had the flat iron steak, which apparently was not a skirt steak but a sirloin. YUM!!! I wasn't expecting gourmet style steak and potatoes (very dry) w/ perfectly crisp green beans...I'll be back for this!!

I find reasons to go here. Period.

Seriously... why are you still on your computer??

Lea P and I were looking for a place to grab dinner before a concert over at the Basement, and an initial glance over the Arena District restaurant listings didn't seem to have many options outside of bars and pubs.  Luke T. suggested this place (specifically the portabello burger and the mac 'n' cheese).

It was pretty quiet on a Tuesday around seven, probably in part because a Blue Jackets game was scheduled for seven.  It was a little confusing at first figuring out the seating situation, but after a second we noticed the host stand sign over the mostly hidden stand.  We were easily seated in a booth, which had little jacket hooks that surprisingly did not let our coats fall to the floor during the meal.  Our waitress informed us that burgers are $6 on Tuesdays (with the exception of one or two specialties), which is a savings of $4 or 5.  I had wanted to try the truffle mac 'n' cheese that Luke had so highly recommended, but it was only offered in a full-size entree (no half or side orders), and I regretfully decided against attempting that much lactose and pasta.  I ended up getting the Caprese Breezy burger with the kettle chips as a side.  For six dollars, I thought the burger was pretty good -- it featured shredded basil, tomato, and mozzarella, and was pretty hefty.  The bun stood up for the entire burger and was sturdy enough that I didn't have to resort to knife/fork.  The kettle chips were acceptable, though I realized that I really don't like them in general as much as I think I do when I order or buy them.

The hostess was a little brisk in seating us, but our waitress was nice, checking up on us a couple of times and splitting our check with no fuss.  This isn't really my scene, but I'd probably suggest this place on a Tuesday if I were meeting with someone who was into burgers and bars.

Awesome beer, great venue, mediocre service.

    THE BEER
The "J Scott Francis ESB" is genius, and I don't even like Bitters. Of course, this is quote a departure from the traditional English style...I say it has finally been done right. Also, their Centennial IPA is outstanding.

    THE ATMOSPHERE
A great space. A hip urban scene, in a beautiful old building.

    THE SERVICE
Meah. You have to wait forever to get noticed and then to get service. Angelo....I love the place and the beer, but please hire some more staff.

The food is amazing. The beers are amazing. The atmosphere is great and so is the service. This is one of my very favorite restaurants.

Some of our favorites are the nachos (the best nachos I've ever had) and The Bob Barley burger. The Bloodthirst Wheat Ale is my husband's absolutely favorite beer, but there are always so many delicious beers to try.

    We love it!

Best brew pub and bar food in Columbus, period! I would actually take it one step further as a former New Yorker and I travel to all major US cities I think they have some of the best bar food anywhere! Great wings, Barley burger rocks, I often times get cravings for the blue cheese topped with caramelized onions. Bangers and mash w/smoked kielbasa, pirogi, pretzel bits with cheese don't know where to stop! Really good beer as well, Russian Imperial Stout, Centennial IPA, and a host of others, also most beers are 7% or higher alcohol content. Typically will haul a growler out of there for later. Desert is good...I left out the mac-n-cheese, do yourself a favor the white truffle oil mac-n-cheese is ridiculous. Lastly good atmosphere, one of a kind, great people work here, feels like an old wooden bar feel should feel if that makes sense!

    Best craft brewery in Ohio.

Not only do they brew the best craft brews in ohio, the food is top notch as well. Its not your average bar/tap room food. The wings are to die for, char-grilled and sauced.

Get the cask beer when on tap!

While in Columbus over the weekend I had one request and that was to have dinner at Barley's Brewing Company. It never hurts to mix in a little beer with dinner on a family trip. Plus the restaurant appeared family friendly.

Fortunately one of my roommates from college, who now lives in the Columbus area, was able to join us for dinner. I asked him to meet us at 5pm for an early dinner and I'm glad I did. We actually didn't arrive until after 5:15, but he was able to secure a table in the crowded restaurant for our group of 5. It seems there was a Columbus Blue Jackets game that night at the nearby Nationwide Arena and a good chunk of the crowd was obviously headed that way.

The inside of Barley's is not very large, but they have managed to pack in a bunch of tables along the front and right sides, along with the back corridor.  There is also a large bar with plenty of beers on tap. I started with their Centennial IPA, which I thought was a pretty darn good beer. I also later sampled one of their Russian Imperial Stouts, which was also good. I didn't enjoy the RIS as much as the IPA, but both are worthy of ordering again.

For dinner I went with the Jamaican Me Chicken sandwich which combines jerk seasoned grilled chicken breast with Jamaican relish and pepper-jack cheese ($9.99). The chicken was a double breast and was well cooked. I was hoping for a little more spice from the jerk seasoning, but overall the sandwich was good. For my side dish I chose their cheddar and potato pierogies. I think this was my first experience with pierogies. Unfortunately it might be my last experience with them though, as these didn't really do much for me. Overall they were fairly bland and uninteresting.

My old friend had The Wedge salad - crisp iceberg lettuce wedge with diced tomatoes, smokey bacon bits, balsamic marinated cherry tomatoes, red onion and crumbled gorgonzola bleu, then drenched with our bleu cheese dressing and a drizzle of balsamic reduction ($6.29). This salad looked really good and from what I'm told it tasted great too. I'm intrigued by the balsamic reduction that is added to the other somewhat typical wedge salad toppings.

My wife had the Turkey Nut burger - ground turkey seasoned with parmesan and herbs, topped with pecans, and served with spicy mayo - Barley's classic for nearly two decades ($9.79). She chose to have a side salad for $1.29 extra, but it was a pretty large and fresh salad. I didn't try any of the burger, but again I'm told that it was a good sandwich. We also had orders of kid's cheeseburger and grilled cheese (both $4.99).

Our service was actually much quicker than I was expecting from the crowded restaurant and bar. Overall the food was good and I enjoyed the two beers that I sampled. I would easily go back for more when in the area.

Last night I went to a birthday party held at Barley's. Their basement is a skinny long room where people can rent it out for whatever suits your needs. When you walk down the stairs, you're immediately greeted by Barley staff. They took my jacket to hang up, provided free drink tickets, and made name tags available.

Walking through the archway, you can see it's a spacious, cozy, room. Brick walls, five or six small bar tables, and bar stools lined the one wall where there was a small running table along the brick. The bar was more towed the back of the room. This was nice, as it allowed more people to gather and chat in small groups as we all mingled.

Barley's provides a buffet style menu to guests (this was at te added expense of the hosts). At this shindig, there was a veggie tray, hummus plate, chicken wings (they were cooked in a light teriyaki sauce - really good!!), shrimp, sauerkraut balls, and fried Mac and cheese triangles.

I loved the loft esque feeling of the space, with the exposed brick. Music played coming from the front of the room. It was wonderful - not too loud, that you had to tell to talk. But good background noise, so there was never any awkwardness.

It would have been nice to have more seating - especially for the older crowd. And the temperature did get heated at a few different points in the night. But overall, this was a splendid joint to hold the special night!

Barley's is one of the best atmosphere's in the short north to grab dinner. They have great beer and an amazing menu. This is a great place to gather with friends before going out. They are located on high street right in the middle of all the action downtown.

Love this place!  If you're a fan of Christmas Ales, Barley's has the absolute best!  It's a sweet and spiced ale that leaves you feeling all warm and fussy inside, and doesn't make your belly feel uncomfortably full after 2.  If you don't make it in time for the Christmas Ale they also make a delicious Bloodthirst Wheat beer.  It's a crisp blood orange inspired wheat brew that'll have you filling up a growler to go!

Foodwise, they have a Turkey Nut Burger that's absolutely delicious - ground turkey and spices crusted with pecans for the perfect semi-sweet crunch.  And make sure you try some of their house made pickles, I could probably eat an entire meal of them!  If you're looking for a deal, Thursdays are 50 cent wings night, I'd reccomend the chipotle flavor.

I prefer this location over the Smokehouse on Riverside (even though the sauerkraut balls aren't nearly as good here). The location is more my style and the service tends to be friendlier here. Bf and I visit somewhat frequently as they offer the one thing we simply cannot resist -an amazing wedge salad.

Seriously, this thing is good. Like, real good. The thing that sets this Wedge apart from others in nearby restaurants/bars is the balsamic reduction. Such an amazing combination with the creamy dressing, it really takes it above and beyond. I'm not crazy about the bread they serve with it, so I usually just toss it. Even though I love the sauerkraut balls at the other Barley's, the last couple of times we've skipped them here and gone for the pretzel sticks instead. Also, even though the cheese sauce will cost you an extra $2, DO IT. Think I could probably drink the stuff... The wings are great, too. Grilled and saucy.

The beer is alright, and I've enjoyed their Scottish Ale on many occasions. Usually fills me up while I'm eating though, so I kind of jump around the drink menu a bit.

Parking can be hit or miss on a busier night. I mean, it's the Short North. You're probably not gonna find a spot without taking a scenic stroll to your destination.

Overall a solid 4 for me. We'll keep coming back.

I stopped in here to kill some time before meeting some friends. What a good choice. Their beers were very tasty, and the food I got to go was good as well.

The restaraunt was pretty busy, but I still managed to find a good spot to sand (I wasn't staying long, and didn't want to take up a table)

Best advice I can give: Try as many of the beers as you can, and taste the Kraut Balls. You won't be disappointed.

"Because life is too short to drink boring beer"-- damnnnnn straight.  Barley's motto couldn't be more apt; it holds the place on the topper most of the poppermost of C-Towns beer scene.

I tried Barley's last Sunday. First time, I popped that cherry. I was thirsty, hungry and asked my magic eight ball where I should go eat. I shook it and was returned "Barley's on High Street." ( Yes there is such a answer. Pinky swear! Go look for yourself. No! I am not in Colorado now. Why do you ask? ) Sooooo, who would ever disobey the Black Ball? Not me.

My friend, who brought me there, and I ( so ok the whole Magic Ball thing was a lie--deal with it.) sat at the bar. There is of course, tables and booths to choose from.

The first thing that got my attention was that they brew their own beer, at the restaurant, in the basement. This piqued my interest since I am a beer snob. There is a case you can look down into to see that it is professional op and not just a bathtub maintained by a dirty hippy. ( nothing wrong with you dirty hippies out there, you know I love you, I just don't want you making my beer.) I was game.

The atmosphere there was your typical gentrified clean urban look: hard wood floors, fake-oak counters, brass. The music and TVs were at the perfect volume: loud enough to groove to, soft enough to converse. The general mood of all who was at the bar.

The service was outstanding; the bar tend was knowledgeable, friendly and cheery--- you could sense he liked working there.

But what makes Barley's a full 5- giant nuclear gas balls ( I swear I am not on drugs, bazzinga!) is the ale. I ordered one serving of Scottish Ale and two of the Christmas. They were very good, crafty, flavorful and masterfully brewed. I can see why they place high in contests.

Their food was excellent too. I had a beef sandwich and it was cooked to order. It was juicy and I loved the flavor.

But it is the ale! If you are a beer connoisseurs, a fan of craft beer, like to call Nati light nasty light, than this place is for you.

    I will return.

I've eaten here a few times.  We always sit at the bar.  It seems like a decent place to go, but I haven't been overly impressed.  It's "A-OK".  The staff are attentive.  The place is reasonably clean.  I've used the bathroom several times and not been freaked out. :)  I think that's important!

I like the Blood Thirst Wheat.   It's a good beer if you like that style - and I do.  My husband... not so much.

I also had Caprese Breezy, which was tasty.  I am a bit of a weirdo, so I ate it with a fork and knife.  I didn't try to eat it as a sandwich.

One of the best tasting wings I've had. Most of the time wings aren't good when they are grilled or backed, it leaves to much fat. These wings are grilled without any fat left and they are so soft and just falling off the bone. They taste so tender and delicate.
I enjoyed this place and went back here as much as I could while I was on my trip.

Wish I had a Barley's near my house.

After a long drive into beautiful (read gray and rainy) downtown Columbus, checked into hotel, then went on my food mission.  Staying next to the Arena District, there certainly is no shortage of eaters.  So I started walking around to see what I could find and ended up at Barley's Brewing. Hurray Beer!

I started with their Centennial IPA (cask style - unpasteurized, unfiltered).  It was very good.

The menu appeared to be all over the place, Burgers, perogies, Schnitzel, hummus, fish and chips.  So American? Mediterranean? German? Polish?  Sure, all the above.

I opted for the Sam I Am burger - Char-grilled steak burger topped with white cheddar, ham and green pesto aoli topped with a fried egg ~ $10. Ordered med rare and it was cooked to perfection and oh so decision.

For my side I opted for pierogis.  Yes, Cheddar potato pierogies, sauteed
onions, and brown butter!  Until tonight, I have only had frozen peirogies.  Wow, were these good.

For dessert, bread pudding with dried cranberries and red apple bits covered with bourbon-scented sauce and raspberry coulis.  It looks and smells good.  Will eat it for a snack later.

So if your in the area and want to get your burger and beer on, look no further.

I've been to Barley's a few times now and unfortunately I've had the same things every time! (or maybe this is a good thing??). The Sam I Am burger. Because who doesn't love green (pesto) eggs and ham on a burger? Seriously?? =)  My repetition is not due to lack of other tasty-looking things on the menu, but rather that I loved it the first time and can't bear to stray yet. Perhaps on my next visit...

Today though I had my green eggs and ham with fries. One of my friends had the Cleavelander, which I pointed out to him but didn't order because it seemed too overwhelming. This burger had Kielbasa and pierogies - on the burger! These are the sorts of creative classics you can expect in this establishment. After he got it we determined it really wasn't too much and was just right. Maybe I'll try it next time. My other friend got the turkey nut burger - which she has been getting every time for years. We were all very happy with our meals. Good food, good service, good price. Can't complain =)

I stopped in for lunch today trying to get away from the crowds in the convention center, that was my first mistake.  The crowds had the same idea as me.

I quickly scored a seat at the bar, thankfully because the line to be seated was 15 people deep.  Standing room only.  I started with one of their  house brews.  The Belgian.  A bit too dark and chewy for my taste, but probably as it was meant to be.

The bartender was quick and proficient at handling the crowd, and I was impressed as he took care of food and drinks for 20+ people solo.

I ordered the pot roast sandwich, which is basically like a Philly cheese steak without the liquid cheese or the flavor.  It came out relatively fast considering how busy they were.  It also looked as though it was thrown together quickly too, half off the roll.  Ordering that was my second mistake.

For a second beer I tried Scottish.  Very tasty and very drinkable.  Thumbs up!

Overall I would say the beer and service was good, food average.  I would go back but change up my menu selection.

Huge fan of the Oatmeal Porter. I pick up a Growler when I'm in C-Bus. They also have a nice selection of seasonal options; they seem to change every year. A sign of creative brew masters.

Check out Barleys if you are in Columbus, and do yourself a favor and walk past Gordon Biersch - you will be wasting your time at a "chain micro brew".

My mother and her friend go to Barley's for lunch every time the NQA convention is in town (that's the National Quilters' Association, for all you young whipper snappers!). Though this was my fourth time attending NQA, it was my first time joining them for their lunch at Barley's.

When I'm in the area, I usually choose something else, but Barley's is a good option for a respite from Convention Center madness. The burgers on the menu looked especially good, but I went with a wedge salad. As observed from my dining mates' orders: it's easy to have many options for your side, even with a burger. Fries are not the default, and there are healthier options readily available and upfront on the menu.

Honestly, for this type of place, I was impressed with the wedge. The tomatoes were juicy and robust, there was a balsamic reduction drizzled over my lettuce (I ordered the dressing on the side... it seemed to be ranch). I kind of missed the classic hard boiled egg, but everything was really rather nice. Maybe I just had low expectations.

The booth was a little uncomfortable, however. Service was chipper but slow, even though we came in before the lunch rush. We were eager to get out and get back to the convention, and it seemed to take forever to get our check and pay.

I think a-ok sums up my experience here last Friday. It was my first time so we snagged a seat seeking prompt service at the bar.

I will start by saying come here for the beer. They have fantastic selections of not only their own brews, but beers from all over the world as well. Want a taste? Sure thing! They're happy to do it and even happier to tell you about them if you ask... Well some of them do anyway.

My dinner date recommended I try to mac and cheese since I was carb loading for an upcoming race (long @$$) I was running that day. What it lacked in overall flavor (the bread crumbs were overcooked and totally over powered the entire dish) it made up for in presentation. The chopped basil and grape tomatoes gave enough added "fresh" flavor to make me feel a little better about consuming 3/4 of it.

The portion size was massive, so generally for that, I'm pretty satisfied. For a $13 dish,   I'd say it was OK.

Although I initially got stellar service upon arrival, it was an awkward exchange when I had to flag down the bartender who was standing in front of me the entire time to request anything else. It wasn't busy at all and all of the staff were kind of huddled chatting at the back of the bar. Granted, I know how slow nights can be, but I just wanted a water and attentive service! They were all nice and peppy though, so there's that.

What pushed me over the edge though was the condition of the bathroom. Not good. And there really wasn't any excuse for it on an otherwise slower Friday evening.

While I'll go back to sip on bangin' brews at the bar - that's really how to best describe my experience... one of a "bar" - I'm not too inspired to go back again for the food or for a dining experience. But the beer... oh yes! Yes, I'll be at the bar for the beer.

My wife and I went to Barley's yesterday for a tour and tasting. We actually run a young couples meetup group, so there were three other couples that joined us as well. I arranged the tour last minute because we were supposed to have a tour at another local brewery, but they had to cancel. I contacted Angelo, the head brewer, on Thursday. When we arrived Saturday at 3:30, in the midst of the Pride festival going on nearly just outside their doors (so they were pretty busy), Steve, the assistant brewer met us and was happy to give our group a personal tour and tasting.

How awesome is that? Barley's was very accommodating to our late-made plans and Steve was a great tour guide! He took us downstairs and told us all about the beer-making process. He was very knowledgeable, yet down-to-earth when it came to answering questions and being personable in general.

After our tour, he took us upstairs where we tasted 5 different beers. The brewery also had cheese and cracker trays for us to add to our tasting. I felt like royalty in there.

We were able to pick the five beers we wanted to taste for the group. The pours were very generous, so we really were able to get a sense of what it was like to drink a pint!

The price was very reasonable for the tour and tasting. I expected to pay a lot more for what received. Steve was our personal guide to Barley's beers for over two hours, which is quite a commitment for one small group. Every beer we tasted was very good. The porter was my personal favorite, but the Scottish Ale seemed to be the most popular among our group - I agree that it was very tasty.

They let us keep the glasses at the end, which was an unexpected bonus. I just could not believe how wonderfully accommodating and generous Barley's was to our group. I would HIGHLY recommend this place as an impressive atmosphere and a place with delicious beer.

Thanks to Barley's for making our meetup a great success! We WILL be back!

I love barleys, they've always got great beer, and the food here is good as well.

The only bad thing about this location (versus the smokehouse on 33 location) is that parking sucks. Not enough meters since it's in the arena/park street area. You'll most likely have to pay to park in a garage, or make a purchase at north market to get validated in their lot.

The best part is they had weasel boy on tap. Love that brewery!

Well the lunch bunch got together againg this week to try out another restaurant, this time....Barley's on High.  Really good place here.  The atmosphere here was nice and cosy even though it's a big place with high ceilings.  The server we had was very nice and helpful.  We asked him for a recommendation on an appetizer and he said the pretzels with cheese sauce.  Real, real good stuff.  Came out hot and salty with a white cheese sauce to dip in.

I ordered my requisite Scottish Ale which is always a favorite of mine.  Cold and goes down smooth.

For lunch a cheeseburger with kettle chips hit the spot.  One of us though ordered the Truffle Mac and Cheese which is probably what I will get the next time.  One bite and I'm still thinking about how good it was.  Says something there.

I'm definitely a fan of the place and would like to go again sometime soon.  Also, they have a coupon in the Entertainment Book....BOGO on either lunch or dinner.

    Go there.

I thought that I would end up liking this place a lot more. The last couple times I've been, I've noticed a decrease in food quality and service. The food is still good for bar food - one of the better places in town. The prices are a bit high though.
I'm sure I'll go back anyway though. It's just so damn convenient.

I love Barley's Scotish Ale, but you can't find it many places. The only place I can think of off hand is Tip Top (kuddos to them). So, if I want Scottish Ale on Draft I either go to Barley's or Tip Top. The other day we went to Barley's, which always is packed, every time I've been there before midnight. We ended up getting seats at the bar instead of waiting an hour for table. Works for me.

The bartender was cool, with quick friendly service. I like their easy better-than bar food and I like their reasonable pricing. I had a great burger there, the Clevelander. What an awesome idea to put grilled kilbasa and pierogi on a burger. It was tremendous. Maybe it was the 2 Scottish Ale's talking, but I think it was better than many burgers I claimed to love. If that's not the case then it was a solid burger. My boyfriend got the club, which was standard, but you can choose the side of which he chose pierogis. Awesomness! I got the house chips, which were great.

Overall a great night. Fun crowd, awesome beer, yummy food. Winning! It's true I just typed 'winning' in a review, but I did feel like a winner after having had Barley's. So there!

Tough choice on 3 or 4 stars here.

I'm giving the points on my meal, which was the veggie burger with cauliflower and the house salad.

The salad was good, nothing special but very fresh, the red wine dressing only so so.

The veggie burger I was so excited about and the sole reason we went here, it is hard to find a housemade veggie burger and I refuse to pay $10+ for a Morningstar or Gardenburger I can make at home.

It tasted bland and mushy and was on the small side, so didn't fulfill my need for a fat awesome veggie burger.

The cauliflower was barely steamed, tasted raw and cold with a bunch of raw onions.

Strange combo and along with the raw onions on my salad and on the burger, I was in for an evening of horrible breath...

My son had the lonestar burger which was awesome, great bacon, good meat, a shame he only gave me 2 bites...

My husband had the behemoth barley burger and the sam I am and enjoyed both.

The chili, also not so great and the fries pretty boring as well.

In all I can recommend it for tuesdays half price burger night and stick with the burgers, they are great, the rest really didn't blow me away.

It gets pretty crowded, but the service is fast and the guys working are really nice.

We got the brew dip as an appetizer at the bar and honestly, we could've kept ordering that all night and I would've been totally OK with it. I'm not sure what they put in that cheese, but it's like crack. I want more. I want more now.

Although I'm not a vegetarian anymore, I still tend to lean that way when ordering at restaurants just out of habit. They didn't offer many vegetarian-friendly options, but what I did end up getting (the portobello mushroom sandwich) was amazing. The mashed potatoes I got with it were pretty good, too.

Honestly, I wasn't that blown away by the beer? I thought it was pretty good, but I was more impressed by the food.

Barley's is a great brew pub very close to the Arena District and downtown Columbus.  I love the brick and historical architecture of this place.

    The beers here are excellent!

My favorite is the Rye IPA.  It is a fresh, citrusy IPA that is refreshing when you're in the mood for hops.

The food here is okay, but the beer easily makes up for it.

Barley's is a tale of two kitchens. In the first kitchen, they make amazing grilled wings which are full of flavor and are absolutely to die for, in the other, they make pretty much everything else on the menu that I have had and it is all questionable at best. An average visit will greet you with an overcooked burger with out of a bag fries. Eh. I'll pass on an average occasion.

The BEER on the other hand is outstanding. The Scottish ale is my favorite and might be my favorite of that style period. Just so, so good. All the other beer is quite tasty as well and every Friday they have a Firkin (though they also have gravity taps all the time).

Gets the bonus star just for the wings

This is it people.  This is where you want to go for good Beer or good Scotch not far from the Arena District.

Hey Out of Town Businessmen like me.  Stay at the Hampton Inn at 501 N. High Street.  That way you can walk like 3 doors down to this place.  You can bring your laptop and use the WiFi too if you have to work.  I like to drink and work!

This place reminds me of a Barley's we have in Kansas City.  Only this place is more quaint and they have Cask Ales!  Try all their micro brews there!  Need some Scotch they have the Talisker and the Laphroaig 10 year there.  Not the 18 but hey!

I always have a good time at this bar.  This place may be the best PR for Columbus, OH in my mind.  Oh and try the Wings.  I swear nobody other than some BBQ places make better chicken.  The Gates of Hell is hot but flavorful.  It's not the kind of hot that you pay for later. The wings are outstanding.  The Beer, Scotch, Patrons, Staff.  They have it all.

Truly one of my all-time favorite places in the US!
