The Social Room

Okay, so I was here for a singles event. It probably should have been weird but it was a lot of fun.

The bartender, Rebecca, was fabulous. She talked to us and just made us feel welcome and at ease. Also, she made a mean martini.

I can't speak to how it is on a normal night but the crowd was heavily weighted towards the male gender. Overall, it was a good time.

Honestly, this is my favorite place to go out in Arena District... I would say Columbus, but I've had just as good of a time at some of the Short North Bars.
I typically go on Saturdays to Social to dance and they play EDM mostly...  I've gone on a Friday and heard a good mix. Recently a local promotions group has been hosting events on Fridays that I have yet to attend, so I can't speak on that.
Social does get pretty packed, but I'm used to that from visiting clubs in bigger cities... I actually prefer it. I've never experienced it being so packed that I can't dance, so I don't have any complaints. The drinks are average priced... I can't give them a 5 star because I've yet to experience good service. The bartenders seem a bit snooty all the time and it takes way too long to get their attention. This wouldn't be an issue if every time I went up to the bar it was packed, but even when there's less than 5 people standing around waiting, they seem less concerned with your time and more concerned with fiddling around randomly. I really enjoy the atmosphere though and recommend coming here on a Saturday night if you're in Columbus and enjoy EDM music. I've never had a bouncer issue, but then again, I'm a girl. They do seem to like to not let anyone in after 1:45a though even though the clubs don't really close until 2:15/2:30.

My favorite place to dance in the Arena District (haven't danced at Sway yet, so we'll see), but the Park Street clubs all have the collection of the dumbest fucking meat-head bouncers I've ever experienced in my life.

I'll tell a little story about last time I went to Social with some friends. Note that I go here and dance a lot, 2-3 times a month. I went last week, in some khaki shorts - my first mistake. The first bouncer told me my shorts were too long and I couldn't get in. I get it, "gang related." I walked into the crowd and hiked my shorts waaaay up, Bob Saget 1992 style, way up past my knees, and went to a different entrance. That bouncer, too, said my shorts were too long and I couldn't get in! You could see my fucking thighs my shorts were so high! I started grilling the dude on how my shorts were too long, and he switched his story and started saying my sneakers were the reason I couldn't get in. I always come correct with my shoe game, and I had on some $120 Nike Dunk high-tops. Plain black, no gang colors. This, evidently, was the reason he went with. He didn't have the sac to tell me that it was 1:30AM and they were already waaaay fucking packed so I couldn't come in, instead he felt the need to act like a hotshot and come up with a reason I couldn't get in off of the top of his head. When all of the girls I was with started calling bullshit on him, yelling at him and pointing their fingers (drunk girl stuff), he mustered back a weakened, "Good thing I don't care what you think!!" before deciding to ignore us and move on.

That's my story. Nothing to do with the review at all, just a story I thought I'd share. I love the club, cool atmosphere, hot women, good music. Shitty bouncers, so beware, they might arbitrarily decide you can't come in.

By the way: The website says it's member's only. To that, I say "LOL." I've been in here a million times and if anyone has paid for a "membership" to Social, you got supremely fucking hosed.
