I was in a business trip 8 weeks ago and decided to eat here. The service was awful. When I flew back home in CA, I noticed my card was charge twice with different amounts. I waited 1 week to see if the charge dropped off. The charge was not dropped off so I called and asked for a manager to explain my situation and after 5 minutes, I was told he was too busy. I called the next day and asked for a manager and after another 5 minutes in hold I was able to talk to him. I explained my problem and told me he needed to check for the receipt records. He gave me a call back and apologize for the mistake. He said my card was accidentally charge for another table. He offered to give me a gift card but told him I live in CA. He said I would give you a credit back on your card and should see in two weeks because it's a long process. It's been over a month and still there is no credit. I called 4 days ago and asked for the manager. After several minutes on hold I heard someone pick up the phone and got hung up. I called again and the manager answered. I told him that my card was not reimburse for the extra charge. He told me "well I have to check what's going on with that transaction but I'm busy right now, so I would call you in 2 hrs". I never got a called back. I called once more and the manager told me he was going to credit my account that same day. It was a lie because it's been 2 weeks since that incident and no credit has been issued yet. I'm tired and frustrated, so I'm deciding to take another route since no one in that restaurant seems to care.

I ate here recently and will not be going back.

The server while nice was totally inept. Aside from pronouncing chianti as cheeeanty, she would disappear for long periods and the restaurant was almost empty. Some minimum training of employees would really help.

The salad dressing was nice but the salad was swimming in dressing to the point that it was almost inedible. The pasta dish was completely devoid of any flavor at all and aside from its general appearance there was nothing Italian about it. There was no garlic in a dish that was supposed to have it and sorely needed it. The basil was missing and one could get better tasting Italian food on an airplane.

Very sad because the place could and should be so much better. If you like Olive Garden and you think Italian food is well represented at an Olive Garden, you might like this place.

Great spot for dining in festive downtown Indy on the eve of Super Bowl 46.  This place is located inside the Circle Centre mall, and DT Indy's restaurants were all packed to the gill, so good thing for the advanced reservations.  Service and food quality were very good, as they were primed for a busy night.   We had between us:

Sampler of lassagna, spinach ravioli, and a Romano crusted chicken dish
    Shrimp/crabmeat fettuccine
    Chicken piccata

The dishes came out pretty quick.  Only minor drawback was they didn't tell us the asparagus side was $2 more with the chicken piccata.

Four stars may be a little high, but 3 is too low.  I came here with about 12 people.  It's hard to serve that many people and get everything right, but they did a respectable job.  The food was delicious.  The only thing that was off was the music playlist.  There was no consistent theme -- classic rock to blues to pop to jazz... just felt a little multiple personality disorder.  Didn't set any one mood.

I'm reviewing both the Fishers location and downtown as I have frequented both often when I lived in the area and now when I visit.  I love, love, love the pane granhcio, which I call "crab bread."  I always order the Tortellini Michelangelo or the Fettuccine alla Mariarosa.  The owner uses sauces that have been in his family for decades and really bring out the pasta dishes.  Service can be a lil off here and there, but the food is always consistent so I just deal with that.  Geez, now I'm craving crab bread!  Someone bring me some?!?! :-)

I think after this last time, I'll give Bella Vita one more shot, then I may be done for good.  I've been several times before, and always got the paparadelle with meatballs or chicken parmesan.  Both are pretty good, although the portions are much smaller than most places.  The last two times, we had Mark.  I made sure I got his name from the manager this time so I am never again seated in his section.  From the beginning, he was the ghost server.  Promised to come back with a plate and never did.  Didn't come back for 15 minutes after delivering our salads, so I sat with an inedibly dry salad since I was unable to flag him down for dressing.  My diet coke sat COMPLETELY EMPTY until I flagged him down again, and even then, he didn't sprint to refill it. I watched him standing in the kitchen running a check and waiting on a salad to be made so he could deliver them all at once, rather than just hustle my drink over and go back.  Final straw (as I recall happened last time, too), when he finally brought over our checks, it was "thanks for being so patient, honey."  Don't call me honey, and don't thank me for being patient. I didn't really have a choice.  We estimated we could have been finished a good 15 minutes earlier if he would have picked up the pace.

Onto the food and prices.  Free bread and flavored oil come standard.  The oil must have had way too much anise or something, because it tasted like licorice oil.  Very weird and not good, which is a shame since the bread is fresh and delicious.  The lunch special was $9 for a six-inch one-topping pizza, salad, and drink.  The pizza was undersauced and a bit bland.    However, they did load it with big meaty mushrooms.  As for the salad, I asked for a Caesar with anchovies.  He said there would be a "small upcharge."  It was an additional FOUR DOLLARS to add a couple anchovies and Caesar dressing (which of course was mixed into the salad instead of on the side as I asked).

I asked the manager as I left the name of the server to ensure I wasn't seated in his section again.  He briefly apologized, but didn't seem very surprised.  As I write this, I'm thinking -- no, actually, I don't think I'll be back.

There are several negative experiences posted here. I can see how the nonchalant type of service would be common though I have never experienced it. Generally my visits have been average with above average taste. The first time at Bella Vita with my wife was during an ice storm, and we had the place to ourselves, so we got special service. :)

Mostly this place is recommended as a break from the mall, and a slightly overpriced but quality alternative to PF Chang's etc. Indeed the decor is cheesy though you may find the waterfalls somewhat relaxing.

The soups are good, creamy, and minimal. Bella Vita gives their small servings of pasta a boost mostly by loading on the cheese and sauce. The "spicy" (but not spicy) sauce is the best part of the baked crab plate. If you're lucky the crust may be cooked just right.

Coming for Devour Downtown, we got dessert and found it less inspired than the rest of the food. But I guess this should be expected. Walk upstairs to Dairy Queen instead.

Bella Vita should get something more like 3.5 stars, but I'm feeling generous today so it gets 4.

I called and spoke with Steve on 7:30 on a Sunday night (day before 4th of July), from my hotel room to see what time they closed. He told me it was slow and HE SENT THE COOKS HOME! Then he asked if I was coming down, well no, if they aren't any cooks. Seemed very non chalant and we ended up going to a bad sports bar. Just had to tell this, service seems to be a issue, also stuck my head in the door earlier that day and place was dead on a Sunday afternoon.

Awesomeness on a plate!  Hubby and I went there for our anniversary dinner.  There weren't many tables, which meant we had our waitress all to our selves.  The atmosphere is very romantic and contemporary.  We both got martinis which were perfect.  The side salad is nothing to write home about, but the homemade bread with olive oil sauce was to die for!
The hubby 'created' a prime rib concoction that came smothered in cheese, peppers, and mushrooms.  It was cooked perfectly and came with some pretty mashed potatoes and broccoli.  Broccoli wasn't cooked enough but still tasty.
I had a platter that came with chicken parmigiana, spinach and cheese raviolis, and lasagna.  The spinach and cheese was the hit of the night for me.  The lasagna was only worth one bite, and the chicken parmigian- which was covered in a white sauce was superb.  I'm sure the cooks could see my husband and i nodding in Ecstasy our whole meal.  It was great! We finished the meal off with Gelato- which was just OK.  Not like the Gelato place in Clay Terrace, but it was a good end to the meal.
Overall, loved this place and will be back!  It was reasonably priced and had quite a diverse menu with lots of italian and fish options.

Very loud American soul music blasted through the near empty place for my 330 lunch. Waitress was shocked when I pointed out that Insalata Della (sic) Casa comes w mozzarella, according to the menu, as she "has never made it that way"! She did take it off the bill-- considering it contained a fermented slice of tomato and several rotted bits of lettuce, I thought that was fair. The olive oil cruet urgently needed a wipe-down (as did the laminated menu-- ew!).

Primavera pizza had lots of decent veggies, but was cool in the center, despite a trip thru a trendy wood burning oven. The weirdly sweet crust seemed to have been pre-baked (& pre-made, as in food service supplied), so I imagine they just bake it to get the cheese melted.

I don't know if it's a chain-- feels like one, but the numerous Italian errors on the menu make me think it hasn't had professional proofing attention-- or the attention of a real Italian!

Not horrible, but a little depressing.

I would rate the food a 3.5 star, but the service and the noise are a distraction. Between the waitress spilling a glass of water, forgetting part of our drink order, and the food arriving after about 40 minutes it was a long night. Luckily the company was good.

Went here for a business lunch as part of Indianapolis' Devour Downtown campaign. I was disappointed to see that on the first day of the campaign there wasn't any signage promoting the special fare.

On this trip, everything was good, but not great. The highlight was the service. As this was a business lunch, he didn't bother us during conversation. He was attentive, but not interruptive.

Because it's not a crowded place for lunch, it's great for business meetings.

I went there with some colleagues after a meeting, and I thought the food was delicious! I had the spinach and cheese raviolli and it was amazing.  Service was good -  nothing exciting there but it wasn't bad either so I will not knowck them for it!  My meal including gratutity came to 14.49 (not including a drink).  I actually enjoyed it and will go back again when I want something other than mall food!  Now, the balsamic vinagrette was creamy but it was good.  Definitely different.  The bread was hot and tasty.

I will start out by saying that the food was pretty good at Bella Vita. However, the experience was something else. The decor was nice but it just seemed almost cheezy with all the views of Venice painted on the wall. Venice is a total tourist town and definitely not authentic Italian.

The servers were polite but the actual service was terrible. I was out to dinner with a co-worker and I ordered a soup while she ordered a salad with our meals. Not 2 minutes after our soup and salad come out, did they bring out our meals. That was awful.

Bottom line: The food was decent but overall dinner experience was awful. This restaurant needs to seriously up their service and understand the time frame in which your bring dishes out to customers.

We were hungry and stuck at the Circle Center Mall for 2 hours. Instead of going to Buca di Beppo or PF Chang, we decided to try the relatively new Italian restaurant in the mall. When we got there, we were immediately seated. The place was quite empty for lunch time. I wonder why. Well, maybe people were just flocking to Jillians, Champs or other local bars to watch Colts game on the big screen TV.

The lunch menu started from $9 to $15 per entree, with few $6 & $8 paninis. Kids' meal costs $5.95 (serve typical Italian restaurant kids meal) that includes meal and drink only. Their bread tasted pretty good I think. The calamari appetizer is just OK, served with lemon aoli and tomato sauce - but pretty small for the price of $10. The lunch pizza is about 10 inches and thin. The blackened tilapia fish tasted pretty good, but the risotto is a way too creamy for my taste.

In conclusion - I gave the food 3 stars and the service 3 stars. The place itself has an interesting decor, but too dark to spend too long inside the dining area for lunch or dinner with family or big group. Perhaps this place is good for 2 people looking for a quiet place to dine in or have some dessert after long hours of shopping. There should be a better Italian restaurant out there in Indianapolis.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place. We went on a 'devour downtown' night but did not plan to order off the devour menu. When we walked by there was no line out front so we figured that the wait coudln't be that bad. They told us it would be a 1/2 hour wait and they would call our cell phone when the table was ready. So we wait an  hour. Finally walk back in and ask about our table. The girl looks at the screen and proclaims she can seat us now. Translation: the forgot about us. We sit are completely ignored for at least 10 minutes. Finally get a menu and some water. Ordered a glass of wine and a mixed drink from the bar. We place our order after waiting another 10-15 minutes. We get water refills before even getting our drinks from the bar, both of which were wrong. Our food arrives 50 minutes after first being seated. The food was ok. It wasn't terrible to eat but definately not worth everything else we were put through. I would not return. No one in the restaurant seemed to care if we were enjoying our experience.

Although a completely different feel to this downtown location, our evening was really just so/so. The place wasn't busy, but our server paid little attention to us. We had to clear our dishes aside to make room for dessert. Would I go back?  Probably not any time soon. Too many other restaurants to chose from.
