Beta Nightclub

I have made a discovery about myself during my pursuit to Yelp about the things that make Denver so great: I am just not a nightclub kind of guy anymore. Dive bars? fuck Yes, please. Good, creative restaurants? Absolutely. Anywhere where I can get excellent customer service and a good story to take with me? Sign me up. But nightclubs? Just not my thing.

But on that note, Beta is a good example of what so many dancey clubs try hard to be. It's big (like three floors if take into account all the weird levels in this place). There are lots of bars. The music is loud. There is a coat check. And the big booths offer optimum people watching space. The dancers are sexy little things and there is a plethora of good looking folks sweating and dancing all over each other. But they also do a bunch of things that didn't make me feel so thrilled, either.

Drinks are EXPENSIVE. Crazy expensive. It gets crazy crowded if a national act hits the stage...(like nuts to butts crowded). There is a smaller room upstairs where people were dancing, but I wasn't feeling the music. And the bathrooms. Fucking gross and packed.

Well, I tried this place maybe a dozen times because I love me some house music and to be honest this place is amazing to see some of these acts.

But nowadays it just does not take. With that being said, look for me at a dive bar down the street, or a reasonably priced microbrewery with a beer in each hand, anxiously anticipating hearing some song that doesn't make me want to hurl due to the brain hemorrhaging bass and the lasers shooting into my eyeballs. Because there are many things I love about this city. Big giant nightclubs just are not one of them anymore.

I typically do not frequent a bar/club if there is a cover charge.  I personally feel like if the bar/club is charging me to get in, it is forcing me to assume there are a bunch of tools inside... I will spend enough money that you do not need to charge me.  Additional, I typically do not frequent bars/clubs that are not 21 & up...  Yes, this place is 18+. No, you do not notice it.

For the people bashing this place because of the "crowd" or lack of "age restriction", allow me to set the story straight:  think of Beta as a Music Venue.  How many concerts have you attended that required you to be 21 years old?  

For the people bashing this place because of the "cover", allow me to set the story straight:  think of Beta as a Music Venue.  How many concerts have you attended that didn't require you to buy a ticket?  

I am from St. Louis - and in comparison, Beta does not have near as many druggies or hoochie mamas (or crime!).  I have lived in Dubai - and in comparison, Beta doesn't offer the cool ass couches you can dance on or sit, but the system is just as loud and the DJs just as great.  I spent my 21st Birthday in Vegas - and in comparison, Beta's dresscode is not enforced bringing out the most good looking people in the world, but hey, that's not always a bad thing when all you want to do is party and dance and party more and dance harder, is it?  

This two-level nightclub doesn't overcharge for drinks, is never TOO crowded, and the top floor mini club is perfect for a quick switch-up!  The music has yet to disappoint me!  TIP:  if you go earlier than 11pm (on most Saturday nights), you will get out of paying the 21+ cover.  Having said that, the party truly doesn't start until 11:45pm - midnight...

Lastly, there is nowhere to sit.  Wear comfortable shoes OR get bottle service.

WARNING IF YOU ARE BLACK DON'T COME HERE!!! If you like HIP HOP. Do not come here! One thing about Colorado, white people to stick to there own, for the most part. If you like white guys, that dress like they're black, with their hats cocked to left, this is the place to go. The only thing is they don't play black people music. They play that gay ass dubstep music. You have to be on some serious drugs, to enjoy that type of music. I swear I heard the same song, playing for 50 minutes. This is one of the worst clubs, I have ever been to. IF YOU ARE BLACK DON'T COME HERE!!!
