It's a cavern of the theater, but the national tours they bring in are sometimes good. Sadly some shows they feature are pathetic corporate esploitations of library material forced as entertainment down our throats. For instance Bring It On. I've also seen
everything from James' Joyce's The Dead to Fela! Â The latter worked well in the space.

Straight plays get swallowed up by the vastness of the space and even for musicals, don't sit in the upper balcony because you lose all of the energy from the stage and just hear canned amplified voices.
And whatever you do, don't pay full price. Hit up <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FGoldstar.com&s=76cc9aa92bd759a8dc9e077a998598e2c4afa6464d1300f45ee39998180df705" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Goldstar.com</a>. There are almost always half price tix avail.
I've seen a bunch of really great shows here. They always have a nice selection of musicals during the season with top-notch performers, wonderful orchestra, just an all-around well done production.
Parking is a bit atrocious, but isn't it everywhere in L.A.?
Prices can be fairly reasonable if you're willing to sit far away, and also depending on the production, but beware--there are extra charges for parking in the lot underneath the music center!
The shows are really what make this venue.
