    Adequate but not great
Have to say we had expected a lot more based on the reviews.  Our meals were adequate but by no means great.  I had roasted chicken with lemon and mushroom ragout - a somewhat overcooked piece of chicken on top of a lot of mushrooms, with a couple of slices of lemon on top.  It needed a lot more flavors (note to chef:  if you want to taste a really great roasted chicken dish, eat at the Prado, San Diego).  My husband had the lobster carbonara - he liked the pasta  but the lobster was kind of plonked on top and really didn't bear any relation to the rest of the dish.  And for a restaurant of this type, we should not have had to ask for our $48 bottle of dry white wine to be chilled better.  We had a much better, and far cheaper, meal at Marias the following night.

    Yeah.

So, I went here with my aunt and uncle and two friends of theirs before seeing The Marriage of Figaro with the LA Phil at Disney. Given that my relatives are in their late 60s, we were, of course, early. Meaning, we were THE ONLY people in the restaurant.

You'd probably bet, then, that there'd be no problem with service, and you'd soundly lose that bet.

Not that the service was bad...it just wasn't up to par with a fine dining establishment, especially one that wasn't busy. The waiter actually forgot to take my order, walking away from the table so we had to shout to get him back. He was also rather awkward and uncomfortable talking to us.

What he did, however, is tell us how wonderful the seafood was, particularly the bouillabaisse. So, my uncle ordered it...and so did I, after we got him back to the table. Well, the food arrives and they start putting the wrong dishes in front of everyone, so we played musical food for a bit. Then came the bouillabaisse.

What a disappointment. The fish was overcooked, the tomato sauce bland, and I've had much, MUCH better for the price (my uncle and I both agree). According to the others in our party, their food was fine, but nothing to write home about (ie. not worth it).

I guess there's not much in the way of good food around Disney concert hall, and that's too bad. The only thing this place has going for it is convenience. Next time I'm going to the theater, I'll be going elsewhere.
