Yes! After the Chevys in Pleasant Hill shut down, I have not been to one since. Â I didn't even know this location existed until today. Â I came for lunch and it was pretty empty so for me, that's nice to just chill and relax. Â I had good service from the start. Â it did take a while to get my meal.....but not too bad. Â The best part of this location is the view of the bay! Â So awesome, right on the water and very relaxing. Â
I Was nicely greeted as soon as I walked in and seated immediately. Â Got the yummy tortilla chips and salsa. Â Love Chevys chips! Â Got chicken fajitas which were, good but not great. Â Definitely worth the $12.00 I spent for a nice, relaxing lunch. Not sure if this place was packed and noisy that I would like it but I definitely would say a big thumbs up to come here for a nice lunch!
Had an early dinner there this past Sunday, the service was extremely poor, we stood at the front test along with others, no one including the manager acknowledged that we were there, so my grown daughter walked over to a group of workers which included the manager! Â and soon we were seated...it was down hill from that point on. Our server in plain view stood and talked to another table while holding our drinks, when our food arrived the order was not right, the bus boy was sent to deliver our tortillas and part of our order thar was wrong...he put our tortillas on the chair where back ends sit and looked surprised when we didn't want them..I would not recommend Chevys in Emeryville to anyone,oh did I mention the flies that were rampant , so to sum it up the food was tasteless and the sanitation was poor.
Review Source:I have visited this Chevy's many times. If I had to rate it from today's visit, it might be a 2 star while other visits might be a 4, so I decided to give it a 3, which is in between. On todays visit, I was with a party of about 30+ people and we all got separate checks. We had a leader going around with the waitress to help keep things organized and that part went pretty well. But really, we should have been given 2 servers or at least some back-up help for her. She said she could handle it but I had to ask 5 times for a side of guacamole and also a few times for my son's soda. Not to mention it took SO long to get through all the people that by the time the orders went in, a half hour, at least, had passed. It was a long wait from the time we sat down to the time we got food - close to an hour! Back to the guacamole...I didn't specify which one and she didn't ask but when it arrived, it was the table-side guac. I was charged $8.99 for that! YIKES! My total bill for me and my son was $53! That's outrageous! We got 2 orders of chicken fajitas, that guacamole, a child's milk and a sprite. That's it. Doesn't seem that much to me. It was from the lunch menu after-all, meaning smaller portions than the dinner menu, thus no left-overs, sadly. Food was so-so. The chicken was dry, as it always seems to be on these fajitas. When I visited the bathroom, there was water and soap all over the floor and the one faucet was left running. I slipped before I noticed the water and luckily did not fall as I am physically challenged and I would not have been able to get up and would surely have been injured! Often the floor between the kitchen and bathroom area and the sitting area is VERY slick and I have a hard time walking on it. I wear basic Keen shoes, nothing fancy and no heals, but I walk with caution because I fear falling on the slick tiles. On a good note, the service is usually very friendly and helpful, the tortilla soup is VERY good, and the mixed grill fajitas are delicious and filling! I like the location on the water and though parking is tricky, they do have 3 separate lots to try and park in. I used to love going to the Bayfair location - I just liked the interior and lighting better - but sadly they closed :-(
Review Source:Came here with my high school friends. Love this Chevys mainly because of the beautiful gorgeous view. This place is always busy.
Expect to wait about 45 minutes if your here on the weekend. Service here is a little slow. On a busy evening if you get lucky enough to sit and get the ocean view. Then the wait time isn't so bad.
My fav dishes here is the Crispy Chicken Flautas and Famous Chicken Fajitas. When here with a group of people we usually order the Fresh Mex Sampler. It's pretty yummy. One of my dislike dishes is the Shrimp and Crab Enchilada. Sounds and looks good on the menu but my taste buds does not approve. I'm a fan of there sweet and sour Cadillac Margarita and fav dessert is the Deep fried ice cream.
This place loses a star because of the slow service but overall this is one of my favorite Chevys. My high school friends and I have fond memories of this place. I love the ocean and to sit right by it with your dear ones its simply amazing. Because of the view this place is a gorgeous place to come with family, friends or a hottie.
Enjoy!
I love this place. Nothing as good as a bull dog (margarita and corona combined). I asked them if they could hook it up with the little holder that makes the beer come out as you drink the margarita and even offered the guy $20 but he said no :( All is on 5 stars. Great great great location. Nothing as good as Mexican food and alcohol with your honey while looking at the ocean, YES PLEASE! Stop in and enjoy HH on the dock with a yummy margarita. Food is good, price is great, parking is a little iffy but we always get lucky at the parking lot across the street! Flavor of the food is better than El Torito and the chips and salsa are always coming! Shout out to Pablo, although you denied me the contraption, you did a great job with strong drinks ;) A+++
Review Source:Yesterday was a very difficult day for my family. We had a private service for my mother and after went to Chevys for a private fajita, enchilada salad everything banquet ...it wa fantastic, delicious, classy, and very personal. The staff was outstanding and the manager Jose the top of his game every moment. I highly recomend them for  parties, memorials anything In between !!!!!!
Review Source:I made a reservation for a group of 20. Â We all arrived only to find out there was no reservation. Â Good thing it was at 11:45am on a Thursday. Â Plenty of space to accommodate. I must say, more than 20 showed up making it a good sized group. Â The waitress handled us, a little frazzled, but was able to deliver all the drinks and food with only one slight error. It was funny to hear the waitresses shout out our orders and wait to see which person claimed them. :) Â Nevertheless, we were impressed in how they handled the large group. Food was great.
On a personal side note: Â LOVE LOVE LOVE their frozen pineapple coconut margaritas!! Â Just make sure to ask if their margarita machines is working. Â Many times I've received runny drinks only to send them back and wait for the machine to freeze.
This is a great place for tremendous Mexican snacks and huge Margaritas...and an extensive Happy Hour! Â Have been there quite a few times and were lucky enough each time to have Alejandro as the gentleman who seated us with a beautiful view of the Bay, made helpful suggestions, and made us feel very much 'at home' in Chevy's. Â This is an extremely popular restaurant so the noise level is fairly high and there are comparatively few servers. Â Nevertheless, we are very picky and feel the great prices and friendly atmosphere make Chevy's deserving of a top review. Â Last visit we met a table full of ladies celebrating a birthday and they were great fun...insisted on buying us a drink simply because we took a group photo of them. Â Try Chevy's and look for a classy server and it will probably be Alejandro!
Review Source:Never having been here for happy hour, my first time drinking & eating at Chevys was fantastic! Honestly, how can you go wrong with margaritas for $3.99 and an extra shot for only $2? Also happy hour is from 2pm-until close...so plan to stay here a while and come hungry & thirsty!
Service: Â I was slightly annoyed that the wait was about 25 minutes (because I was famished, as usual) but considering that it was a Saturday night, I figured it could have been worse. You can request to sit either in general seating or the happy hour area. Although we requested the happy hour seating, we were seated kind of behind the happy hour area which wasn't nearly as loud, which was nice because I could have an actual conversation with my friend. However, if you're looking for a wild, crazy happy hour experience definitely make sure you are seated there. It's loud, fun and people are just having a good time! Our waiter was great and brought out our drinks and salsa promptly. After we got our main dishes though he sort of kept wandering past us (pretty sure he was slightly tipsy as well because he randomly broke out in groovy dance moves...) but since we were in no rush, it was not really a matter of concern.
Drinks: I ordered a peach margarita but was brought a mango one. But it was no big deal because I loved the mango one! Tangy, blended, and just alcoholic enough. I also ordered the extra shot. I assumed it would come blended in the drink but it actually came out in a shot glass. Regardless, for $5.99, such a steal! The drinks are fantastic with the salsa and chips, I could eat them forever.
Food: The guacamole that we ordered was probably the best part of the meal. Fresh, creamy and so flavorful! With the complimentary salsa and chips, the guac is a must when you go. Plus it's huge and discounted during happy hour! I ordered the farmers market quesadilla (white tortillas stuffed with vegetables, and  guac and salsa in the middle of the plate), which was alright. Nothing really to rave about here except that it was as good as a quesadilla gets, soft, gooey and cheesy with yummy salsa and guac. My friend ordered the fajita plate, which was MASSIVE. It was a plate with steamed vegetables, more guac, lettuce, salsa, and 3 warm fluffly tortillas to eat with. This plate was so amazing! The vegetables were flavorful and hot, and the tortillas was amazingly song and fluffy, complementing the vegetables and lettuce well. We really did not realize HOW much food we had ordered--it was easily enough for 2 more individuals. But we had enough for a late night snack which was nice! But be warned, with all the chips and salsa you consume while sipping on your margarita, you are going to get more full than you know.
Oh last thing, this Chevy's is kind of hard to find and secluded so make sure you turn into the corporate complex. It is conveniently located near the Emeryville marina, which is gorgeous. My friend and I luckily had our wait time right around sunset, and it was stunning!
I will definitely be coming back here with friends for another happy hour!
Chevy's is not Mexican food. Â Sorry...had to get that out before I explain my 4 star rating.
I generally hate the idea of Chevy's for the lack of authentic cuisine, as well as "el machino". Â Seeeeriously, Chevy's????
Buuuut...$3.99 margaritas with $5 patron silver shots. Â Add to that a DJ who was spinning some seriously good music, a super attentive server who anticipated our needs and didnt push us out when we stopped ordering new drinks, and a waitstaff who seemed to enjoy their jobs ...awesome. Â Also, my Santa Fe chopped salad was delicious.
I might just come back...especially if Saturday nights are always like that:)
One star for view and one star good food and they fact that is a Chevy's with great tortillas.
Ok.. cons.. we were seated a table that was a seats short so we had to move tables to fit our group. It was WAY to loud! in the bar area it seemed like a club and viewed waitress on the clock dancing with customers. Meanwhile, our group is sitting without silverware, no water and no chips and salsa.
After about 15mins we got water, but had a difficult time getting refills.. we got chips and salsa kept having to flag down our server for things because we were never checked on.
Then the server brought our person in our group the wrong dish and when they nicely said they had the wrong one. The server was short and rude with with her.
It wasn't until we got our food that we got silverware
Finally, the staff seemed very careless with equipment.. things kept falling.. and 15mins or so we kept hearing crashing of things.. just very little regard for sound control.
They new management or someone needs to step in and fix things
My mom got really bad food poisoning after eating here with me. I called the next day and told the manager. He apologized and offered to send us free dinner vouchers. They never showed up.
Even if the food poisoning I would not have happened I would still not go back to this place. Slow service, poor food presentation and the bathroom was horrible.
MANAGER PLEASE! Better yet, CORPORATE PLEASE!
Realized why this place is only rated 2 stars. We've been here for 30 minutes and still only have our drinks, chips, and empty bowls of salsa. Asked for place settings about 15 minutes ago, but still haven't received anything. Oh and not to mention the waiter in an Oakland Raiders hat (which I doubt is part of their uniform,) a referee looking shirt, and his chest hair hanging out. If I didn't miss Chevys so much, I wouldn't even think about coming here again.
The one star that I gave is only for the food. I'd give two but the employees would think it's for them. Sorry but this place should've been one of the restaurants to close down.
After shopping in the area, we decided to stop by Chevy's for a late dinner. Â We opted for a booth in the dining room, but if you want more of a party atmosphere, the bar area might be more of your liking.
For the two of us, we ordered a three item chicken burrito combination and a fajita steak burrito entree. Â After we received our food, we determined that the fajita steak burrito was a chicken burrito too. Â We flagged down our waitress and informed her of the wrong order. Â She thought we ordered two chicken burritos. Â Didn't know fajita steak burrito sound similar to chicken burrito. Â She happily took the order back and put in the correct order and the new order came in about 5 minutes. Â
Overall, food is good but there are better Mexican food choices at some non-chain restaurants. Â But do love Chevy's chips and salsa.
Food was good but the server we had was trash (sum white guy wearing a hat backwards with a footlocker jersey on and a neck tattoo) we didn't get offerd water till we was done with are food and didn't even get chips and salsa till we got our food. Then all he gonna do is take 5 off our bill! #firehim
Review Source:Le sigh. Chevy's has always been one of the few chain restaurants I enjoy, however this branch very often lets me down.
My complaints are two-fold: service and food quality.
One time we came here, I believe it was a weeknight even, it took over an hour to be seated (even though the resto was half-empty), order, and get all our dishes (first one arrived nearly 15-20 minutes before the other; neither were appetizers). Thankfully those never ending chips and salsa were never ending and kept me distracted.
In terms of the food: sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. My partner ordered fajitas the first time and they were excellent, this last time they were pretty carcinogenic & charred. I've had the flautas at other locations and I usually like em, here they were... off. The quesadilla I had most recently was also concealing extra-burnt steak, and the guac it came with was pretty unpleasantly sour.
I will say though that though service is often slow and lacking, the staff are always friendly, cheerful, and receptive of criticism. If anything, I'll likely be back for those addicting chips & salsa.
Pros
- Close to work
- Ample parking
- Friendly Service
Cons
- Not that cheap
- Not that tasty (got the Fajita plate)
- REALLY slow service (doesn't really work as a lunch place)
Tips: Avoid this place if you're looking for a speedy lunch. It takes forever even when it's empty. The people are friendly but it simply takes too long to eat here.
Good location, nice bay views.  However, the parking spaces are too narrow (especially w/ all the big cars).  Big problem, we got pinned out of the car.  Our driver had  to shimmy in through the passenger side (and could barely get through there either.  Our driver is NOT a large person either.  There is just no room for cars. Â
Here are the highlights of things that are just wrong:
Service  was very slow after our order was taken. Â
3 Â people (our of our party of 4) were served, and the 4th person had to wait about 5- 10 minutes longer, for what? A salad. Â
Mesquite tacos contained about 1.5 oz's each of chicken. Â So skimpy.
(The mesquite flavor was good though.)
A person in our group asked for a refill of iced tea, and the waiter brought a glass with coffee and a lemon in it!@ GRR. Â
The chips towards the bottom of the basket tasted stale/rancid. Â
There are too many other really great Mexican restaurants in this area to go to. Â I suppose this is a good place if you just want to go to a happy hour, look at the bay and eat some chips (provided they give you fresh ones) and salsa. Â
Very low on the reco list, if you are looking for good mex food and servcie sorry folks.
Chevy's has done it again!! I have read some of the reviews and wonder why this place is getting low stars!! Perhaps it is because people are unwilling to pay for full price menu items?! Anyway, my husband and I just left there and the food was a hit!
The experience:
-My tummy is as big as an 8th month pregnant lady & the hostess opened the door for us which was very sweet!
- We were greeted by Jose the manager which made us feel special and remembered!
-We were seated promptly & told  by the server how slippery the floors were!
The Food:
- I ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas... The habanero pesto on top had a kick to it but wasn't overly spicy! Imagine a creamy, cheesy sauce Amazing goodness covering soft corn tortillas filled w/ shrimp & crab! Of course more crab would have been welcomed  but the fillings ratio of seafood to veggies was nice!
Atmosphere:
- Alot of babies and families & talkative people
-good energy!!!
Will be back  in a few weeks for another visit!!
FAVORITES:
- Crispy Chicken Flautas (I always get the dinner w/ beans & rice. Also, mango salsa is excellent)
- Pineapple Coconut Margarita
Sometimes I order take out or go with friends for Happy Hour, which I'm pretty sure is all the time. Service here is so-so, depends on the staff. I've been there so many times, a lot of the time the services varies.
TIP:
When you eat there, on your receipt there is website where you take a brief survey, and enter in validation code on receipt. After you complete short survey, you get a code. Write code on receipt and bring in next time you eat there. $5 off $10 purchase or more! Save $$!!
This is not the place to go if you want delicious Mexican food. This is the place to go if you want happy hour with a view of the water.
The service wasn't bad, but it sure wasn't good either. The staff was friendly, but I think they got confused because my husband is mexican and they really wanted to speak spanish to me but no hablo espanol.
Plus side, homemade tortillas. That is all.
THIS REVIEW IS ONLY BASED ON CHEVYS HAPPY HOUR
1 star for HAPPY HOUR
2nd star for the customer service
3rd star for the GUAC!
Came here with the girls for happy hour, and the prices and choices are pretty decent. Chevys is not the best TEX MEX restaurant, but if you want to grab a drink and some snacks with some friends go during happy hour.
I would stick to the drinks, chips and dip and appetizers or happy hour menu at this place. Those seem to be ok. Â The food that I have ordered here not to great. Â For example, i could not eat any of the chicken in my chicken salad because it was all to over done and black chewy. Â Lettuce seemed like it had been sitting out a while.
Bottom line...go for  happy hour type of foods, not if you are really looking for a meal.
One thing is true my dear friend chevy's
Eating with you, is making me feel real heavy
Have too many shrimp and crab enchiladas
I'll blow up to be an armada
The chips and salsa are off the hook
you can eat all you like w/o feel'n like a crook
And if you're real hungry get the grando plato
and make sure to finish it off with some helado (Spanish for ice cream)
Emeryville Chevy's is your typcial tex mex. Â Their chips and salsa are really good, I like adding a little bit of salt. Â Their Shrimp and Crab enchiladas are my favorite! Â They're really pretty darn delicious. Â Their grando plato fajitas are good to feed two as well.
Consistent horrible service....
For some reason I love Chevy's happy hour so I continue to let them torture me, Plus the fact that I am always getting coupons to come here.
Either they need more hands, or the hands they have just dont give a SHIT. I shouldn't have to flag you down for chips and salsa that are FREE! Grrr!!
This was not my first choice as to where to have dinner while visiting friends in the Berkeley area, but our host wanted to come here, so here we are. About the only thing this restaurant has going for it is it's on the waterfront. The food was terrible as was the service. This is one of the Chevy's outlets that should have been closed long ago. If you just want waterfront dining, you are better off at the Berkeley Marina. For a chain Mexican restaurant, I didn't expect real authentic like on E. 14th, oh I mean International Blvd.....but com'on, just be decent food. Next time I'm picking the place!
Review Source:I usually opt out of chain restaurants.
This place really makes up for its chainyness with its location.
Located on the bay is a big plus. I usually sit in the "cantina" side to the right. There are tables right along a huge window looking directly to the bay. The cantina is a really fun atmosphere. It is one big party. If i have friends wanting to get together for a good time without going to a club, this is the spot. They have happy hour all day- 4.00 blended margaritas! The fajitas come out sizzling and portions are huge. At night they put on modern  hip hop and get some strobe lights swirling. This place is just fun!
This is my favorite Chevy's salsa location. I eat it with my spoon. I am done, completely full, they are taking plates away...just try to take the salsa bowl...just try...I am still stuffing my face..no more chips, doesn't matter. There's a spoon.
Tip: sit in the bar. consistently bad service on the other side. consistently good service in the bar.
Mexican bulldogg are the best..
I come here pretty often, especially when I have coupons sent to my mailbox because this place could be pretty pricey esp when 1 is hungry as a hippo ;)
I love love love their chips and salsa! 1 thing that never goes wrong @ Chevy's are their salad, esp their Chicken Tostada Salad with salsa vinegrate dressing. Crispy taquitos are good, it's crispy and the mango salsa is very sweet. And I like their corn tamale cake that comes with almost every plate that you order. Their deserts are also really good and tasty.
I'm always full and happy everytime I leave this place. =)
Loud. This place is loud, boisterous...music, conversations, just so many different noise from so many different directions. I do acknowledge that i went after work, so the after 5 crowd was in full effect, and i did sit in the cantina tryin to get my happy hour on, but i couldnt believe the noise. I literally was screaming to my party, who was just sitting a across the table from me, becauseit was loud.
Ambiance aside: why does Chevy's serve their chips and sals with whole chips at the top and crumbled chips at the bottom? Every single time ive been in here, i go through3-4 basketsof chips because only4 or five out of each basket are actually large enough to dip in salsa and the other ones are pieces.
Their happy hour menu was limited, the bbq wings were good and the nachos minus the weird tasting red sauce was good. Our waiter definately kept my diet coke flowing, and i enjoyed myself.
Without a doubt, the best Chevy's in the Bay Area. Â This review is for the happy hour. Â My wife and I came here last night and we were greeted immediately. Â The location alone is by far the best in the Bay, especially when it is a clear night and you can see the sunset.
We were surprised that they were still serving Happy Hour pass nine o'clock, so we decided to take advantage of it.
Stacey, our server last night was friendly and she was very attentive. Â There are several times we came here and the service was a hit or miss, but Stacey was on her game.
We ordered the ground beef sliders ($6) , popcorn shrimp ($5) , and several margaritas. Â We were amazed how good the sliders were. Â They were juicy and full of flavor. Â The sliders are better tasting than the fast food restaurants, such as McDs, BK, Jack in the Box, etc. Â The popcorn shrimp were good as well and served with the jalapeno dipping sauce. Â Mmmm. Â Margaritas for $3. Â You can't beat that, especially in today's economy. Â For an extra dollar, you can order a margarita with 1800 tequila.
If you want to eat at Chevy's, then I highly recommend this location. Â You can't go wrong. Â As for me, my wife and I will definitely come back.
This Chevy's is like a poor man's Skates. Great waterfront location, cheap happy hour all day, and great for groups. Â BUT THE SERVICE IS SUCH A MIXED BAG. Sometimes they leave you alone in the corner, thirsty and forkless. Other times (one other time*) they dote on you. Overwhelmingly it's the former.
Even so, you just can't beat their happy hour prices!
Happy Hour Recommendations:
Flautas
Sliders- $6 for basically a GIANT burger with chips
$3 Margaritas
Things to avoid:
12 piece buffalo wings. Salty. Sour. Skimpy on the Meat. As a carnivore, I was offended. My friends masochistically nibbled on their wings before giving up and ordering the flautas.
I tried their regular menu too- the mixed grill was pretty good (meat in every flavor!), but I don't think it's worth it otherwise. Especially when service swings towards the Hyde side.
Random:
Lights dimmed and a disco ball popped out around 8pm (?) when I was here on Friday to the complete bewilderment of everyone near the bar, who searched around for a dance floor, concluded that there was none, and resumed eating their tacos under the disco lights.
BEST Chevy's location probably in the entire country! Right in front of the water with killer bay views, lots of seating space and extended hours.
The service is great. The recently introduced 10-hour happy hour is an AMAZING deal.
DO NOT leave this place without binging on those chicken FLAUTAS for only $4.99! They also come with delicious chips covered with salsa on the side! ADDICTIVE!
$3 strawberry margaritas are also a MUST!
Love this place!
CONS: music at happy hour is way TOO LOUD... can barely talk or hear diner across the table.
