This is one of very few small, hard-to-find restaurants that I can actually call good that we have out in the suburbs. We've been going for about 8 years and never once was it a bad experience. Â I like to stick to the Chicken Crepe and a Chocolate Crepe for dessert. Such a simple dinner and its so refreshing from all the chains that are nearby.
Review Source:The crepes here are amazing. Its a quaint little restaurant that is easy to miss if you aren't on the look out for it.
Chef Pierre provides a great menu, with decadent entrees to choose from. The soup is always yummy and I love the salad dressing.
My favorite crepe here is the creamed spinach, with Swiss cheese and bacon. Its so delicious and melts in your mouth. They also have a nice selection of wines to pair with your meal.
Try this place out!
I found this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try since it was so many fabulous reviews! Â I was NOT disappointed! Â The spinach, bacon and swiss cheese crepe was awesome! Â Oh and not to mention the strawberry desert crepe! Â Hubby had the seafood crepe and loved it also. Â It was quiet and off the beaten path in Crystal Lake so you don't have to wait for a table. Â Highly recommended!
Review Source:I love Pierre's. It's easy to overlook, since it's just a door and a window on the back of another building (the old window store is on the 14 side) next to Taco Bell. But once you get in there, you'll find the whole experience is delicious from beginning to end. The salad dressing is so good--and you can even buy a bottle to take home! The crepes are amazing. I love to make up my own, with creamed spinach, goat cheese, and mushrooms. The dessert crepes are also delicious. Usually I go in with a friend and we each order a lunch crepe, then share a dessert crepe, because they're so big we can't each eat two! Pierre (who is French) makes the crepes right on the counter, where you can watch, which is very fun.
The restaurant only has maybe 8 or 10 tables, and it's cash only so be prepared. They're closed on monday, which is somehow always the day I'm craving crepes, so plan ahead and go another day! You won't be disappointed.
This place is very charming. Our crepes were delicious. Both the savoury and the dessert crepes were great. He makes them right in front of you which is cool. The place is VERY small so one waitress should never be overwhelmed here. Chef Pierre IS French...obviously, and well, the French are known to be a bit pretentious but we did not observe any of that on our visits.
Review Source:We had a late lunch here and had a horrible experience. Â Pierre is rude, and heard him mutter as he walked away that he hates Americans! Â He had only one waitress working and all he did was yell at her. Â The food was not great either. Â If you want good crepe go to the place at the Algonquin commons. Â Also, we felt bad for the waitress and during our conversation with us she ended up revealing that none of the food is made fresh! Â It is all pre-packaged! Â Will never go here again.
Review Source:Went there for lunch and had a fabulous experience! We were a little apprehensive to visit again since the owner can come off snooty and stuck up. He was very friendly today and helpful. I am taking one star off because a larger selection of crepes would be nice. However, they do let you customize so it is flexible to your liking. Definitely recommended and will visit again.
Review Source:We *love* Pierre's place! Â We've known & followed Pierre over the past 30+ years from his years owning a bistro, to the Barn of Barrington, and many other places in between. Â
I love that everything is home made... and yes, his dressings are simply amazing!! Â He gives us so many reasons to keep coming back to him...... Â Â ~Mireille Gross
Love this little hole in the wall. Nice atmosphere, decent wine list, and friendly staff. Every time I go with a friend we split the 3 course meal - soup, dinner and desert crepe with a cup of coffee for I think $25. It's always more than enough food. The last crepe I enjoyed was some vegie concoction with goat cheese - changed my life.
Review Source:Yum yum yum and so close to home! Â Been there 8 years and I'm just now knowing about it, thanks to Meg. Â Had a wonderfully quiet lunch there a couple weeks back. Â The menu is limited, but the selections all look so divine it took me a LONG time to pick a fave. Â Pierre is wonderful. Â We were in awe at the size of his mixer, and he didn't mind our questions. Â The server took our picture! Â Good for families (what kid doesn't like a pancake with chocolate inside?). Â Make sure you bring cash or a check, 'cause they don't accept credit cards. Â Cute little joint I'll be going back to again and again.
Review Source:I love this place! Bring your kids (or your date) for a wonderful quiet lunch or dinner. Pierre makes wonderful crepes (his salad dressing is amazing), a pretty decent little pate and offers a small but modest wine list. It's very cute inside with a casual collection of tables and French kitsch.
I recommend the creamed spinach crepe, egg crepe, or ham crepe. For dessert try the Nutella or butter and sugar (sounds boring but is really quite surprisingly delicious).
AND they now take credit cards!
The food is good here, but this is not why I am giving it a bad review.

Basically the owner is a stubborn, snooty French short order cook!
