We order breakfast from here from job sometimes...the delivery service is HORRIBLE!! Â We have to find a new breakfast place! They take 2 HOURS to deliver !!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!And when you call them, they lie and say that it is on its way, but it doesn't arrive til an hour or more AFTER that so we know it was alie all along. Â This place sucks. Â NEVER ORDER ANY FOOD FROM THEM!!
Review Source:They have good food but horrible service. I ordered some food  for delievery once. nothing crazy burgers and hotdogs. Took them over an hr before I called and the guy tells me its on its way. 20 min later I call again and they let the phone ring about ten times before they answer. Before I could say anything, he tells me its leaving now. So what was it doing 20 min before that? I tell the guy no thanks, he could keep it. His reply is, "fine!"  Click. A good rule of thumb when it comes to having a business, is not to be shitty to someone when you do something wrong. An apology would be nice.
Review Source:I have been coming to this place for years. Since before the current owners were there. Every time I come, I get the Greek Chicken. I always tell myself to get something else, but half a chicken with fries, small salad with feta, garlic bread, and a tall Arizona tea runs about what you'd pay for a 'meal' at McD's. But this stuff isn't detrimental to your health. The place is clean and the people are friendly and the food tastes good.
Solid deal.
Chicago Carry Outs is definitely a solid three stars, especially breakfast. Â It's a stand-by for me for when I need a quick, greasy, tasty meal. Burgers? Thin, tasty. Hotdogs? Perfect Chicago Style. Fries? Crispy & delicious. Fried Mushrooms? Yum. Omelets? Huge & delicious.
Everything is cheap & quick. I have never tried delivery, but if you live in the neighborhood, it is solid carry out.
Not good. But not disgusting. Everything is overcooked or charred, and skinny. Skinny chicken breast, skinny hamburger patties. The cheeseburgers are skinnier than a McDonald's cheeseburger, and not as good. The chicken breast on the sandwich is skinnier than the skinny little cheeseburger patty. The fries aren't bad. It's not the cleanest place, they start to sweep and leave little piles of dirt on the floor. I might stumble in here again, but I'll try to avoid it. Â They probably have good gyro's... maybe I'll be try those if I go back.
Review Source:I have gone here for years now, and always thought the people were great, and the food was good for what it was.
Unfortunately, one incident will forever make me not go here.I went to get a hot dog around 30 mins before closing. The guys were fine, but one guy had a nasty cough, kept coughing into his hand, and cleaning up, then held my bun, fingered my hot dog and fries.
I just don't have the stones to say anything. I should of, but didn't. I did not eat the food. Â blah. venting.
This is greasy local fast food at its best. I like their grilled chicken sandwiches, my roommates love their hot dogs and hamburgers, and the fries are pretty good. I have a weakness for cheese sticks, and they don't disappoint. I've also tried the breakfast menu. I have to recommend their egg sandwiches. Greasy, but not too greasy. Perfect for the day after a night out. The window seats are almost always taken up by the locals, about eight or nine dudes who can be seen within a three-block radius of the Chicago/Wood intersection at any given moment. I like them. Some have awesome hats.
Review Source:OK, pretty much the same as any other place of its kind in the area: tacos, burger gyros and everytihng comes with fries...right? Yes, but the owner is wicked nice and cool. I would get dragged her by coworkers against my will at first, but then ended up being the one who suggested it. Their basic salad with chicken (charred up the way I like it) on top and garlic bread is actually filling and very good/doesn't contain the fried-ness and is cheap, which is a check in the plus column. The eggs also fit into this category as well.
Overall: Nothing special, but if you want a cheap, quick lunch in the area then support you hardworking neighbors and give it a try.
Value: Very well priced, lunch never was more than $7-$8
They have a dinner platter of Greek chicken with Greek fries and rice for around five dollars. Not bad for a 1 1/2 person meal.
Breakfast is also pretty good, and cheap as well.
I wouldn't get a taco or their BBQ chicken, but their grilled chicken sandwiches and gyros are not bad for the area.
I like the chicken philly sandwich.
Chicago Carry Outs is pretty much everything you'd expect it to be, and not much more. They have the same overextended menu as just about every other non-chain fast food joint in the city: hamburgers, fish sandwiches, gyros, chicken tenders, subs, salads, tacos, shrimp baskets, etc... They also have a breakfast menu, and I've overheard people ordering from it late into the afternoon.
I've only had the hamburgers here, and they're not bad. They've got nice charbroil flavor, and the sesame bun tends to be nicely toasted. But the patties are a little small, really no thicker than a McDonald's hamburger. Hungry people may want to double up. Fries are the frozen, crinkle-cut variety, and are absolutely unremarkable.
Generally, the place is good if you live nearby and don't feel like having tacos for lunch. Again.
