Great food. Â Great staff. Â You get plenty of food, and there is a good variety of food to chose from. Â Wait staff was very nice and efficient. Â
Not crazy about the way the place is set up and looks. Â It lacks ambiance. Â I wish it was a little cozier and warmer inside. Â Feels like an unfinished basement with a bar.
Finally got the chance to try Clarksville. Maybe this place just isn't for me. Perhaps I just had too high of expectations. We went in for wing night because we've heard such great things. The sauces were ok but the wings themselves weren't crispy and there was a 10 wing minimum which is frustrating because I would rather try more than one flavor and I can barely even eat 10 to begin with. I wish this place wasn't so dark and hidden. I do want to point out that the staff was very friendly. Like I said, just not for me.
Review Source:For what it is, it gets 3.5 stars...here's what it is: an above average neighborhood bar/restaurant. The fourth star is because they do have a large, varied menu which most of the time is quite good. But, it's not a place for date night. The bar serves Smithwicks, which can be hard to find, has Keno, open for lunch and has an outdoor area filled with so much kid stuff you'd think it was a daycare center.
Most of the bartenders, maybe all, are women who are very nice and friendly, for the most part. Two things I never see in this place, which bugs me since I worked in bars and nightclubs from when I was 16 - they never buy one back, and they never put any snacks on the bar. I can forgive the latter as that seems to be the norm. But, I grew up that the house buys you one every 2-3 depending on your personality.
The parking lot is a total, complete nightmare. They need to pave the lot and mark it as people just park all over the place...believe it or not, you put lones down and people actually respect them, duh.
If you are in the area, you owe it to yourself to stop in for lunch or dinner at Clarksville! My wife and I frequent this place as we live local, and thus have had the opportunity to sample a lot of their dishes. And for food this good, you would expect to pay way higher prices! My favorite is their wraps, specifically the Louisiana Chicken Wrap, which they also serve as an entree over pasta. It has a little bit of jalapeno kick, but is bursting with flavor, juicy and delicious! I recommend ALL of their wraps! Their chicken francaise or piccata (the same but with capers) is rich in flavor and me and my brother scraped our plates clean on our last visit this past weekend! Burgers are made with high quality beef and cooked just how you like. But before you order your meal, get some appetizers -- all are dinner sized portions and a nice companion to their ice cold draft beers!
The staff is very friendly and attentive just when you think they didn't spot that almost empty glass of beer. The atmosphere is casual yet elegant compared to a typical pub and the bar is classic American tavern style. Sam Adams seasonal is always on tap!
Don't judge a book by its cover. Â The Clarksville Inn may appear to be some divey joint that most likely serves up questionable food, but it is anything but that! Â My parents come here all. the. time. Â Seriously, the waitresses know my parents and they could probably predict their orders..that's how often they eat here. Â With that being said, I love coming here with my parents because the food is always good and there is a lot of variety on the menu... from burgers and wings, to wraps, to various salads and hearty meals such as sauerbraten!
Review Source:Surprising find! I drove past this dumpy looking restaurant countless times and never bothered to stop in. Well, after agreeing to meet a friend here for lunch, I was happily surprised to completely enjoy my burger and fries. The soup was great too and the service was terrific!
I will definitely be back.
On line menu looked good, so we stopped there from out of town. Â The place looks kind of dumpy and the entrance from the parking lot needs improvement but we thought as long as we were there we would go in. Once down the stairs and seated in the restaurant, however, the food was very, very good. Â Six of us had a little of everything from Nachos, to Chicken to burgers to onion rings to steak. Â All the food was well prepared, served hot and reasonably priced. Â Although it was a Saturday afternoon and only one other family was in the restaurant, the waitress offered poor service. Â Her replacement came in as we were leaving and she seemed to have a lot more energy and interest as she went right to work. Â Bottom line - the food was very good - definitely go back if in the area !!!
Review Source:Hi All, east end eddie here. I have to respond to Gary B. from Nanuet. I totally disagree with your review. That classy place you refer to had seen its better days. No one was going there. It had to be totally redone because the building was caving in on itself. The business is doing great now. The food is pub style and very good. If you want a frank fine, but if you want a great steak, they had that too. So Gary, pony up to the bar, order a martini and a nice ribeye and get off your high horse and enjoy nice time in a local restaurant. All the best.
Review Source:This once was the in and happening place to eat a very classy and delicious (and expensive but worth it) dinner and hobnob with all the local politicals and everyone was dressed in suits and ties and classy dresses.
However now its a dark and dingy "hot dog place" Â that serves beer and drinks and has lost its class entirely and its sad going in and seeing it if you have not been there since the 90`s.
You would be in for a shock and this once great historic building is nothing more than a watering hole for jocks that crave dogs and wings.
By the way had the wings- no good- the hot dogs you can get on your own grill.
To think this once classy place had the best piano bar in Rockland County and some of the best tasting cuisine and drinks around in its old decor.
The place has been gutted out for a hot dog stand?
In one of the most historic remaining buildings?
Sad.
based stricly on the bar food/menu this place is not bad at all. parking is terrible when crowded, but worth trying to get in. very good wing selection, potato skins and such. dollar tacos on mondays along with wing night. gets a little yappy with the h.s. kids on wing night but hey, i was in their shoes 15 yrs ago. definitely worth a shot, i'll keep going back fo sho!
