Being a lifetime Chicagoan I honestly to this day do not understand the big deal about Connie's Pizza it is mediocre pizza at best!  There is way better tasting pizza such as Giordano's (Deep Dish), Home Run Inn or Uno.  The location is nice and there is plenty of parking the inside is very touristy which might be why it's a big deal it's more of a tourist/out of towners attraction.  If you've never been here before it wouldn't hurt to try once but I have no desire to go back especially with so many better options near by.

Be careful here.  Most positive reviews are actually responses to reviews that have been posted that are negative.  When you read phrases like: "I don't care what anybody says, the pizza at Connie's is the best," or "I've been going to Connie's for years & never have never had [sic] had a problem . . . Sonya M."  The lady doth protest too much, methinks.  Who, but a member of the owner's family, would begin a "positive" review with "I've been going to Connie's for years & never have never had [sic] a problem."

I love the pizza but the wait was a little much. We got a table right away but we had to wait for quite a while before the pizza was cooked and brought out. They suggested that next time we order ahead...interesting concept. Order ahead for food that you're planning to eat there. I do love the pizza but they clearly need more cooks or cooking space if they can't accommodate the demand.

That being said, I enjoyed the waiters who were wonderful, the food tasted great and it was a very nice atmosphere.

I love Connie's pizza, love the atmosphere  (factory and old school kitsch) of the restaurant, and recommend this specific location to anyone coming in town look to try some deep dish or stuffed pizza.

I've been to Connie's a few times and found the pizza to be average.  Nothing really worth spending too much time writing about negatively or positively.  3 stars for the pizza.

I deduct one star because of the poor customer service.  As I moved close to their Archer location, I called for pizza tonight.  After annoyingly getting through their automated phone system plus couple of minutes of elevator music, I placed an order.  "Will be there within the hour..." Sounds good.... Almost 1.25 hours later, I called to check what's going on (I live a quarter mile away from this place btw).  A guy who answered unapologetically told me to wait another 15 minutes.  15 minutes passed and a bit later... I finally got my moderately warm, average tasting pizza...  yay....

The delivery guy was pleasant enough, so I won't give this place one star.

    Amanda,

I did "like" the page and had the code. The girl on the phone said I still had to use it NEXT time which didn't make sense to me. She also said she "just spoke to the manger" so there was nothing I could do. I hung up and ordered pizza from another place.

I wasn't overwhelmed. Pizza was OK but I am still looking for my go-to pizza delivery in Chicago. Tried Connie's because I had a $10 off coupon. With a coupon OK, but $15 for a small pizza is a bit much. And the small is small.

Could have done without the big toe size pieces of sausage and honking onions and peppers. This is the second place in Chicago I have tried that seems to undervalue the art of actually chopping up vegetables. I do not understand this.

Tiramasu was Ok as well. Nothing to quite write home about.

Meh, I will give them one more shot and try to pick toppings that can't be dino-sized.

I've been going to Connie's for years & never have never had a problem. The service, food & ambiance has always be good.

I've eaten everything from the pasta, pizza & salads. Everything I've had eaten has all been great too.

The last visit the manager,  Edgar, came by the table & had a nice chat with us. He was affable and his good nature definitely added to an already great experience.

I'd recommend the (thin crust) pizza or the lasagna. Really though you can't go wrong with anything you order.

Pretty awesome pizza. I order from them almost every week and it helps that they have the only legitimate, and quite good, gluten free option. The only thing I would like is different options for it other than small and thin.

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner on Connie's patio in July 2012. The Connie's staff made this the easiest part of our wedding to plan; they were so competent, flexible, and committed to making the evening a memorable night for us. They handled every detail once we picked our menu. Down to the morning of when we dropped off bulk flowers, vases, and a box of framed photos and Edgar arranged the flowers and photos for us as centerpieces. The tables were beautiful.

The patio space was perfect for about 40 people and we were lucky to get a nice evening. The servers were quick with replenishing bottles of wine throughout the tables and we were able to bring in a cake at no additional cost. If you've ever been to Connie's then you know the pizza speaks for itself. Pizza and salad made for a great family style meal. We were surprised by our families with a slideshow and ended up using the space much longer than we had contracted it for. The staff was completely laid back and never rushed us out which was another huge plus.

A belated thanks to the Connie's staff for such a great evening. Chicago brides and grooms-to-be - look no further for your rehearsal dinner venue!

One of Chicago's classic pizza places.  Some norhtsiders have never know that this place exist.  Deep dish is the best way to go. You can call in ahead and give them your order that way your pizza will be ready by the time you arrive.

I absolutely LOVE the pizza here. My family and I usually have pizza night at least once a week from Connie's. It is great. We order online and pick it up at the time of our choosing. The meat lover's deep dish pizza is one of our favorites. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a pizza lover!

Great pizza, incredible antipasto salad. Some service fumbles but they were nice about fixing them apologetically.

This place has great pizza, we ordered the thin and it took 1/2 hour to arrive.  The reason is that it is cooked in a pan and stacked with large pieces of sausage, mushrooms and pepperoni.  The cheese was stringy and there was a good layer of sauce.  Not quite NY style, but still good in itself.  The chicken parmigian sandwich and Italian were just average, thus 3 instead of 4 stars.  They do include a large portion of fries tho.  The building was very modern, with wood and other implements to make it look look like an old manufacturing plant I think.  Definitely go for the pizza again, sandwiches, not so much.

We came to Connie's on Saturday Night for a family dinner. We were seated right away with a party of 12. The place was huge and had ample seating. The wait staff was attentive but not over-bearing.

We had 2 deep dish and one middle weight crust pizza, along with a order of wings. The food came out quick and hot and was delicious. Not being a native of Chicago, it is tough to rate which pizza is better since we are regulated to Pizzaria Uno's in the DC Metro Area. Connie's pizza blew that out of the water with flying colors.

Edgar, the general manager, was absolutely fantastic and made us feel right at home.

The overall restaurant setting gave off the cozy and homely feeling without being cramped.

Bruschetta was pretty good.  The deep dish pizza we had was great but for some reason, the Tiramisu we had for dessert with coffee was outstanding.

I'd come here again anytime I feel like having pizza.

Mom and I agree Giordano's deep dish is way better than Connie's deep dish of spiniach (spinach is laid as topping rather than stuffed inside with cheese. Don't try it unless you like thick cheese with spinach atop of it. Go for thin crust instead. Family said thin pizza is a-okay.

Love their ceasar salad and raspberry tea.

The artisan crust pizza tastes like a moist Baci, my husband told me I should have ordered thin crust but I didn't listen, will try that next time.   Sauce too acidic for my taste.

Decent pizza. My favorite is the middle weight crust.

Every other kinds if pizza is better made else where.

For Deep dish - Lou Malnati's or Uno

    For Stuffed - Giordanos

3 Stars for the middle weight pizza.

I liked their pizza more before their major remodeling. back then the pizza came out a bit more greasy on the crust and the pizza tasted much more delicious. The pizza have less grease now, for some reason I also find the pizza to be less tasty.

Ordered the vegetarian stuffed pizza with pineapple for takeout.  Take out is very slow, I was literally waiting there for 10 minutes while the guy was taking an order on the phone.  Why they don't have someone else in the back, I don't know.

As for the pizza, I appreciate that they gave a lot of vegetables and pineapple, but the stuffed pizza wasn't what I was expecting.  Connie's stuffed pizza was more of a pizza pot pie with not as much cheese compared to Giordano's stuffed pizza.  There is A LOT of crust and bread, but not enough cheese to balance it.  The crust isn't bad, but I just can't eat plain bread by itself.  I think that's why they give you a small container of marinara to use as a dip for the crust.

Overall, the flavors and topping were delicious and plentiful. I want to try the vegetarian deep dish, middleweight, or thin crust next time which will definitely have less breading than the stuffed. :)

Oh yes, add pineapple to your pizza. It just elevates vegetarian pizzas as well as BBQ chicken pizzas!

I loved this place. I may be biased because I grew up in Chicago, but I can't turn down a deep hearty pizza with a nice thick crust. I just can't. And Connie's does a superb job at it. People may go for the more touristy pizzerias in town (won't mention names) but Connie's is the real Chicago deep pizza to me. Always have been, always will be.

A year doesn't go by without going to this place at least once. They make one of the best pizzas (of any kind) in the city. The services has always been great. The people are nice and friendly. I've never had any problems with them. The food is VERY excellent and delicious!! It's a great place to hang out before or after the game. It's also during a non-sporting event. If you haven't been there yet, then you should! You won't regret it.

10 dollar two topping mini deep dish pizza. I was disappointed. Thankfully I used a buy one get one free coupon, because if I would've paid full price for this bland waste of 800 calories AND money I would have been livid. The fries were a lot better than the pizza. And what's up with this place charging for sauces? Aside from the blah pizza and the alright fries, the delivery guy was super nice and smiley * I appreciate smiley people in a city like this* and the delivery only took about 35 minutes, which was super fast. I've never had Connie's pizza, and I'll never spend MY money on it again. Sticking to the spinach calzone.

Michigan local here. Searching the area for a true deep dish is tough on this side of Lake Michigan. On a trip to Chicago for the weekend, we looked for a wonderful Chi-Town dog (officially dislike that style) and a wonderful deep dish pizza. Several locals recommended Connie's.

We started with the bread which was amazing, and salad. The server recommended splitting a full salad and that was a great idea. perfect amount. Now comes the pizza. Plenty of time preparing it. Took about 40 minutes from order to delivery. In all honesty, this deep dish was nothing special. It was very good tasting, but it was not nearly as deep as I had expected. I personally prefer hand tossed so this was welcomed by me, but my partner in crime was really looking forward to much more crusty goodness.

Overall, the atmosphere was fantastic. The food was great and service did not disappoint. A party of 120 people came in shortly after us and that did not damper service at all. I was very impressed with the manager on staff. An amazing person who went out of his way to cater for the 100+ guests and still keep a presence on the main floor.

I would love to visit Connie's again, but it will not be for their deep dish, but to try other dishes.

Once again I do have to say that this doesn't hold a candle to my deep dish standard, but this place has it's ups and downs. I have come to this location a couple of times because it is so close to my work that we use it for some work functions.

On this lunch outing with coworkers we opted for the patio because the weather was agreeable. Just beware when you eat outside, mind you I have eaten out on their patio before, but that particular day seemed to remind me how close to the highway the location is. Gasoline emissions washing out the smell of your food isn't exactly the experience I try to go for.

Didn't have the pizza, I actually have to say that pizza aside there other food is pretty good. I had a quatro formaggi pasta that was oozing with cheese. So no complaints from me. The only minus was service on the patio is slow. Not really complaining about the time it takes to get your food. It's more so checking in once you have your meal and the time you get your bill. It being lunch they should be used to people wanting to get in and out. I don't recall it being so slow when you get seated inside, but if you are on a time crunch despite how nice it might be out that day...just beware of slightly slow service.

I've been going to Connie's since I was a kid. The food is always delicious.

Recenlty took my mom there for Mother's Day. She had the brunch buffet which included a quiche which she loved, yogurt, oatmeal with different toppings, french toast, eggs (which she said looked nasty), fruit, and different little pieces of sweets. Everything was good but a little cold which I guess isn't always a surprise with a buffet. My only issue was that they offered it to us with only a half hour left of the brunch before they started putting it all away. Luckily my mom had eaten enough in that time.

My son & I ordered a pizza. I can't go to Connie's without having pizza. It's never a disappointment. Had a middleweight crust with pepperoni and mushroom. We also ordered the cheese wedges for an appetizer. They were not as warm/hot as I'd expect them to be but they were delicious. The breading had a garlicy taste to it...so good!

For dessert we had the brownie sundae. Huge & DELICIOUS. There was no way in the world we could ever finish it. The brownie was soft & chocolaty as can be! Equipped  with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, & chocolate syrup.

The dining area was loud & full of kids...def expected on Mother's Day. There was a woman & her son giving roses to the moms which was nice. Moms were also given a $5 off coupon. Our server was nice & attentive...& handsome!

My only gripe...I was drinking nothing but water yet no one came to fill my glass once after I had finished my first glass. Dumb maybe, but a girl gets thirsty & I'm used to going to places where they want to fill your water up every 5 seconds!

If you love pizza...go! You won't be disappointed.

    Good food, good service.

I had been here many times, many years ago (don't really know shy I stopped coming)
I was here with a friend for dinner a few days ago and it was as good as always.

We had the calamari for app. It was very good, although the sauce could've use some help.
We also had the Margareta pizza and the chicken pesto sandwich, everything was really good.

I don't drink much now so I went with the iced tea. I know I have no idea why did I stop drinking.

Service is nice and relaxed. We sat on the patio outside. It was a beautiful evening looking on the distance at the skyline. Then it got a little cool but still very nice.

    CP definitely will be back

I picked up a really good spinach and mushroom par baked deep dish pizza and I loved it.  It is great for one of those nights when you don't feel like cooking.  All I had to do was pop it in the oven for 20 minutes.  Yummers!!

Unbelievable is all I can say.  Edgar (dining room mgr) did a fabulous job taking care of my large party of 30+ people.  The attention to our group was great. Pizza was great too.  And after the dinner, Edgar arranged to take my entire party to there next destination via Connie's shuttle busses.
I can't say enough. It was great.

Pizza was great..hot and very flavorful.....the dip on the other hand needed a bit more flavor and bit less cheesy.

    Service was great as always....

Friday night pizza delivery!  What drew me to Connie's?  A coupon - buy one, get one free - SOLD!

Gal-Pal Melissa Q. and I went with our favorite (pepperoni and black olives) on one pie and veggie for the other.  After reading about crust options online, we went with the "Artisan" - it sounded like the perfect medium between thin and deep-dish (side note: I think in areas of the nation outside Chicago and New York, such crust is called "normal").  For an appetizer, we selected the calamari.

Strike One:  Delivery took twenty minutes longer than promised.  Waa!  We were HUNGRY.  Thank goodness for the Duncan Hines brownies Melissa had made.

Strike Two:  The calamari was... well... disgusting.  Somehow it was soggy (eww!) and the marinara sauce that should have accompanied it had exploded all over the bag and was thus of no use.  Eh, pass.

Strike Three:  The pizza was momentously lackluster.  I mean, this is Chicago, people, you gotta step up your game!  The pie was more crust than pizza (and that crust was utterly tasteless).  Yick.  I ate the two inches or so of each slice that actually had cheese, sauce, and toppings on it and threw out the rest.

    Connie's Pizza, YOU'RE OUT!

    The World According to Noelle
    Allergic Girl's Guide to Life

"Not a memorable Chicago pie. Lou Malnati's is still the best!" Noelle W.

I made my first trip to the Windy City in December. We had a list of places to try. We ordered a supreme thin crust pizza and garlic bread. Both were not memorable. In fact I was done with the pizza after the first slice. The sauce was bland and everything else was just blah tasting. They were extremely skimpy on the supreme toppings. We placed our order via cell phone. Arrived at the prescribed time, sitting in que through the drive through only to be told that we had to wait 10 more minutes. So we parked out rental car and waited. Service was polite but slow.

    Noelle's Notes
    Skip it.

Okay so Connie's wasn't my first choice for our company Christmas party but it ended up being the spot for it.  I know Connie's is known for their pizza but it wasn't 'sophisticated' to order pizza for dinner.  Eh, okay fine!

What we got for our group of 35 was ENDLESS cocktails, wine, beer, shots (including shots of patron, grey goose, etc), some real good appetizers - toasted ravioli, calamari, potato triangles, chicken wings, etc., a salad before our entree that featured salami and bologna that was pretty good and an entree of pasta with chicken breast.  I have to say the pasta was really bland and so was the chicken.  The best part of the meal was the appetizers and of course the cocktails!

In the end, most everyone was tipsy by the end of our meal and some more than tipsy *cough* me *cough*.  If it wasn't for the endless margaritas, mojitos, shots of patron, I probably would have given this place three stars because of the food but thank god, I was drunk!

I still have to try their pizza.

Great Food. Pizza can be kinda hella x-pensive, but the rest of the menu is solidly priced.

There's a lot of offers and promotions here. Especially if you go to Sox games.

    Huge Parking Lot.

I've been here for small gatherings, big parties(both catered and a la carte), and have had take out and delivery. Almost always a pleasant experience. And the one time I had aproblem, they gave me a free pizza. So, you know, customer delight kicked in. Even thier frozen offerings kick ass.
    In short, GO. NOW.

P.S. Connie's is the official pizza of the White Sox, so they are served @ U.S.Cellular Field. Connie's also lets you park in thier lot FREE for Sox games, and has a FREE SHUTTLE to/from games.

Now that I've been to this location a couple of times and have had delivery from here a couple of times, I think I can write a fair review.

I love the decor, the stone floors, the super high wood ceilings, the checkerboard table thingies, how it feels open and spacious. They can easily accommodate big groups of people without blinking an eye.

The food is really great, I'm fond of their stuffed pizza, probably my favorite stuffed 'za. The sauce is nice and tangy without being too acidly, and the crust has a certain something to it that just makes it super good, and no other place quite has that taste. The BBQ chicken version was surprisingly good (I am more of a traditional sauce fan), and today I had a personal size with pepperoni and green olives, YUM.

For dessert? Its all about the ice box cake, just try it for yourself once and you'll agree!

The only thing that I've tried on the menu that I was not a big fan of was their ribs, they had a good flavor but were kind off dry and bony.

As for the service? I think our waitress was having a really off day today, she was friendly and all but forgot lots of important things. Like water refills, and bread plates, and plates for our loaded fries appetizer (How did I not mention these yet, fries covered in cheese sauce, bacon bits, and green onion, Mmmmm). The service is the only thing that kept them from that fifth star in my book. It's just that both my visit's here it was the same type of deal.

My Dad, his girlfriend, Aaron S. and I all were satisfied with our food and It would have been perfect if it was not for the off service.

Connie's is highly recommended for both in eat in and delivery!

In the top echelon of pizza places in the city (for deep dish/stuffed) in my opinion. Before you start hatin' on me, a few words:

The haters on here who don't give this place five stars probably are doing so because they see that connie's is sold at Navy Pier and McCormick Place and therefore think the pizza is overpriced and sub-par. It is not. Go to the restaurant. The pizza options are unlimited. Thin, middleweight, deep dish, stuffed and 26th street style (stuffed with no sauce on top so the top crust stays crisp). I order 26th street with a side of sauce so I can dip the crust in it at the end. So so good. Unlimited toppings...where else can you get capicola on pizza?? Or Broccoli? Or my personal fave - ham bacon and sausage! Mmmm pork. THe spinach and provolone is good too.

Plus, if you live in the neighborhood and get delivery, they always send out buy one, get one pizza coupons! Do you realize how much of a steal that is?? I get two pizzas and freeze the leftovers and heat them in the toaster over. They come out perfect and I have a good week's worth of pizza, whenever I feel like eating it.

If you haven't been to the actual restaurant, go. It's huge, beautiful inside, and the service is top notch. But if you go before/after sox games...expect to wait. Also if all you've had from here is pizza, branch out and order the pasta! Get the hand-rolled rigatoni. They really do make the pasta fresh here and you can tell. I may never go back to pizza after eating this! Highly recommended!

Disclaimer: Before I start venting this is probably not the fault of this particular Connie's Pizza unless they are the ones who run the sweeps at Wrigley Field. And if they are- boooo

My fiance and I were at the Cubs game today when the guy in front of us starts screaming at me "you won! you won!".

What did I win you ask? A million dollars? Ummm...yeah, I probably wouldn't be yelping right now if I won a million dollars today. But I did win a free pizza from Connie's.  Yaaayyyy! A couple of ushers told us they would be delivering our free pizza to our seats.

A few innings later we are sans pizza so I go down to customer service to ask where our pizza is. Personally, their  pizza looked pretty nasty to me, but I never win anything so when I do win I want my prize!
Customer service tells us Connie's will be delivering our pizza shortly  so I go back to my seat and entertain myself by watching the Cubs lose.

Another inning goes by and still no pizza.  Sigh...
And it's really hot outside...like over 90 degrees. I'm ready to say good-bye to the losing Cubs and go home to my air conditioner, but my fiance insists on letting customer service know we never received our pizza. He doesn't want the pizza at this point, but wants to fight for what we were promised. Can you tell he's a lawyer?

So we go back to customer service, who informs me that Connie's Pizza came by and claimed that we weren't the winner, but someone else won the pizza. Yeah,  I don't get it either...especially since I saw the scoreboard with my seat # on it with my very own eyes, but whatever.  So yeah, I haven't actually gotten to the chance to try Connie's Pizza thanks to them taking away my prize at today's Cubs game.

Location: Conveniently located just past Chinatown off of 55. Plenty of free parking available in a Connie's-patron parking lot.

Atmosphere: We ate outside in a cutely appointed outside deck with candlelit tables and comfortable chairs (a first for us in outdoor dining!).

Quality: The delicious stuffed pepperoni pizza--complete with hand-thrown crust--took a bit longer than I would have liked (~40 minutes), but to Connie's credit, we had ordered the spinach-artichoke dip as an appetizer. The dip was tasty but unnecessary, since the pizza was very filling, and the server brought delicious artisan bread to the table for free.

Value: A real Chicago pizza at a sit-down joint for $15? Awesome!

Service: This was the only thing that was really lacking. The waitress was very nice (and apologetic about her infrequent check-ins), but there were only two servers handling all 15 or so tables on the deck. It seems like poor service is the price that one pays for dining al fresco.
