This Cosi is like all the others but they're very fast! This particular location is always very busy, but I've never waited for more than 15 minutes on the busiest times. Â They do not however follow specific directions. Â I asked for a salad without croutons twice, but they decided not take my request seriously. Â If you want your meal made respecting your requests, you should pack your lunch at home.
Review Source:I don't have much use for lunch at Cosi with Pastoral and the rest of the French Market two blocks away, but their coffee is really solid stuff. Â It is strong, smooth, and effective. Â Free refills--it's self service--are an added incentive for those in need of a little extra spring in their step. Â
The line in the morning is usually pretty short, too. Â It's fine by me that so many others continue to wait for burned coffee elsewhere, because I'm usually in and out here in about 90 seconds.
I walked in here for a quick breakfast and grabbed a fruit cup and ordered an asiago square bagel. Â Rather than tell me they were out of asiago and it might be 15 minutes until the next batch was done or let me choose something ready to go, they just had me wait. Â And as I stood there, a woman took one of the cheese and onion bagels, scrapped off the onion, brushed the top, cut it in half, stuffed it in the bag and yelled 'asiago cheese' and handed me the bag. Â
I can't believe this place would even think of doing that, let alone in front of me and hand it to me like it's what I ordered. Â I didn't end up eating the mutilated bagel. Â The fruit would have been good, had the grapes not been squished and mashed. Â I wondered what all the liquid was in the cup. Â I won't be going back here.
Atmosphere: Clean, inviting, comfortable- 4 stars
Service: Quiet but friendly- 3 stars
Food:
Tuscan pesto chicken w/ carrots ($7.29)- 5 stars
Conclusion: I hadn't anticipated such a wonderful flat breaded version of a chicken pizza in a wrap full of fresh and divine ingredients. I was sad upon the finally and attempted to savor my last bite (though totally satiated) I will be returning here again and soon! I'll try to order something else...however that tuscan might be too tempting to pass up. =)
4 starZ!
Wow. My 500th Yelp check-in!
Sadly, I wasted it on Cosi. 30 seconds ago I finished a steak, pesto, and egg-white wrap from Cosi and now I'm queasy. Hey that rhymes! It was gross though.
The three pieces of steak on this thing were razor thin and they had that glorious reheated taste I love so much,... NAAAHHT. Â I might as well have boiled beef at home, left it setting on the counter for 18hours and reheated it in the microwave. Judas.
Egg-whites. I know what eggs look like. I know what egg white looks like. Â This "egg-white" looked like mangled cauliflower, rubbery.
Pesto was fine, but does it really matter?
I hope check-in 501 will be better. Â It couldn't get much worse.
Lunch here is fine I guess. Expensive for what you get in my book. Cosi bread is killer though and the only redeeming quality of the Cosi franchise. Â Free samples on the counter, take as many as you want! (I think)
Good lunch place, but not great. I had the Flatbread Pizza (came out before my coworkers sandwich? Always thought Pizza took time to cook) with Sausage and Peppers- it was good, but not great. Service is pretty fast though, not a bad option when you need something quick around the office.
Review Source:I bought a soup and sandwich combo.
I wanted the Moroccan Lentil soup which they did not have on a Friday at lunch time.
I took the clam chowder instead which was good in taste but I think it was microwaved as some spoonfuls were scalding hot while some were just right.
The sandwich, which was the veg and hummous sandwich was a big disappointment. A proper hummous should have tahini as an ingredient. This hummous had no tahini and probably no other spices or other ingredients to enhance the taste or flavor. It tasted of undercooked chick peas. The bread was cold as if pulled from a refrigerator, which killed the whole taste and the size was a joke.It was about 3" across, like a McD hash brown, Â but due to the lack of taste even that proved to be too much for me.
I have been coming to this Cosi for several years now and I like it a lot and it is one of the bigger ones in the loop. Â Today, I went before the lunch rush at 11:30 which was nice. Â My food was ready before I even had my drink! Â I usually go around the 12:30 or 1:00 hour. Â While they are fast, it can get congested in there. Â The drink machine is very cool. Â You can add flavors to any pop you want. Â I have pretty much had everything on the menu and have never not liked anything. Â In the cold weather, I would recommend their pick 2 option with tomato basil soup and a salad. Â Their flatbreads are delicious and don't leave you feeling fat and bloated. Â The salads are so yummy too. Â Today, I had a Cosi Club and chips. Â You can eat healthy at Cosi. Â They have many healthy options for those who are health conscious.
Review Source:Very nice space with plenty of tables and seating. So even at peak times you can find a spot to sit and enjoy the food. The staff are also very friendly and go out of their way to provide great service.
The food is the same quality of every other Cosi location which is of course good.
This is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. Â Their sandwhices are just not that good and I thought it was ME until I met someone else who said they didn't like their food. Â I can't quite put my finger on it but the first time I ate there it seemed like they had put all the ingredients for the sandwich into a blender and then spread it on the bread like pate. Â It tasted weird and the texture was even weirder. Â
The second time I tried their Turkeky/Dressing/Cranberry sandwhich which sounded good but whoever cut the turkey didn't bother to cut off the pieces of fat....and to have a bite of turkey fat in every other bite didn't exactly "do it for me". Â
Because they're close to where I live in the loop and there's not that much open down town on the weekends, I ate their two more times. Â The 3rd time I ordered pizza and WHILE I MUST SAY that their bread is really good (and I order it once in a while to take home and eat with other restaurants' soups) it doesn't make a really excellent pizza dough because it's just too bready and hard to bite off to make a good pizza crust. Â
FINALLY I ate there a 4th time (DANG it obviously takes a lot to get me to NOT eat somewhere)..and that time i ordered a salad which was perfectly fine BUT it was made of all "spring lettuces" which I don't mind a LITTLE bit of, but I don't really like to have an entire salad made of those little bitter leaves and no regular lettuce (like read leaf or butter leaf or even iceburg). Â THAT MAY HAVE BEEN JUST A MATTER OF TASTE SO If you happen to like salads made with all spring lettuces, this may be your place!
The new CEO made my visits frequent by enticing me with email deals.
I am addicted to cranberry cinnamon sugar squagel with plain cream cheese.
Weekend service needs to improve. Â Slow. Â Takes at least 5 mins to place an order. Â Many times, staff fails to understand the urgency of pick-up. Â Mobile app and Internet ordering capability needs to improve to order from the complete menu rather than just drinks and bagels/muffins.
Very good lunch spot in The Loop - creative menu with a lot of variety. Â Sandwiches, panini, salads, flat breads, pizza, etc. Â They have great bagels for breakfast too. Â Bright, clean, orders come to to your table pretty quick......unlimited refils on drinks. Â Pretty good value for the size of the food order. Â
Give it a try.
One of my policy wonk heroes and muses invited me out for lunch. He'd called earlier in the week stating he had a bunch of ideas to run by me. He's a hearing officer in real life, and working hard well into his 70's. He does policy work for a hobby. He gives me great ideas and shares a lot, unselfishly, and says endearing things like: "I'll be dead before you can get this passed, but what do you think of......?"
I love that he is a man of simple and practical tastes. When he suggested Cosi, I said "of course," but I sure did wonder why a busy sandwich shop for a place to talk?
We arrived at 11:40. We had our food by 11:50. We sat until damn near 1 p.m. and NO ONE RUSHED US AT ALL despite the lunchtime tumult.
After lunch, he said with a knowing smile: "now do you get why I suggested Cosi? They don't bug you for your table here - never. I saw that look on your face when I suggested it."
Wise man.
Oh.....before I forget. The food:
Non-greasy tuna melt: B+ - could have been hotter.
Cream of Spinach soup - B - too creamy.
The company and the environs: A+.
I just ate here for the first time, I never had the desire to go in, yet I don't know why-
So today I went in to the one on Franklin and Washington, since it was 11:30 there were tons of tables available-I felt like "one of those people" looking at the menu with a confused look on my face b/c I had never been here before so I had no idea what to get and the sandwiches looked different than what I usually eat-It was kind of hard to read the menus for they are on TV's and kind of far from the eye-
I opted for something safe, the Turkey Club no lettuce, and a fountain drink-My total came to $10, so I was a little shocked at the price but it's good food so worth it and lunch is worth spending money on ;)
The system is like Corner Bakery, put your number up and they come within a couple minutes with your food-Sandwich is in a little bag that you eat out of, good for me b/c I'm messy-The meat was turkey tenders, they were "tender" and very good-I didn't feel bloated after eating all my sandwich so that's nice and I feel the ingredients were fresh-I opted for chips with my meal but didn't eat them, on the package is says Kettle Chips so I assume they taste like other kettle chips at places-
I must say I am fascinated with the fountain drink machine, it is sooooooo cool-It's a large free standing machine, looks like a game-You push for ice but there is a screen up top and you can push what drink you want (variety of about 10) and it pours it out-I was bummed though b/c I went back for a refill and when I pushed the Pibb Xtra it said "empty" as were about 3 other drinks-
This place fills up fast-By 12:00 every seat/table in the place was taken-
I will eat here again, maybe their little pizzas/flatbread they make-
After taking a stroll around the block and return to my hotel room to share my finds with my partner, we decided to order-out from here. Â I had the BBQ Chicken flatbread pizza. Â Absolutely yummy. Â Okay, maybe I was starving from not eating breakfast this morning before our flight. Â My partner got the chicken parmesan with a side caeser salad and carrots. Â I ate his carrots ;) Â I really enjoy this cute, quaint eatery!
I want to try their breakfast.
Thank you
(I thought I finished this post)
Cosi has tons of options: healthy or indulgent, vegetarian or lots o' meat, soup or salad or sandwich or flatbread, etc. Â And everything is delicious. Â DO NOT get me started on that delicious bread. Â Jesus himself must have blessed that recipe.
The interior is clean and comfortable and the prices are quite reasonable for lunch fare in the area. Â I find the staff to be helpful and attentive and the food comes out relatively quickly considering the volume of food orders they're handling.
Yes, it gets crowded for the lunch rush hour but so does every single eatery in the financial district. Â Try leaving a few minutes early and you'll almost definitely be able to find a place to sit.
Plenty of options here. Â From soup to sandwiches to salads.
This place is in busy downtown and is absolutely packed for lunch time. Â Even though this is the case, they run a pretty well oiled machine. Â There isn't much of a wait for anything and there are plenty of employees there to help you.
I ordered the Tandori Chicken sandwich and was happy with my choice. Â They gave me the option of chips or baby carrots with the sandwich.
They had a wide variety of drink options including a coffee bar, but their sodas were rather limited (coke, diet coke, and sprite).
This is a good place to grab a quick lunch downtown. Â The prices are reasonable. Â The service is quite good. Â I'd recommend.
I probably wouldn't pick this place over Panera, Roti or Pot Belly's, but I have to compliment them on their excellent customer service. The young man who took our order (I wish I had gotten his name...it was 5:00 last Thursday) was so friendly and polite! I appreciate that so much!
Plus, the flatbread is yummy :)
Ok the salad that I always get the Signature is pretty good....but the place is always dirty, loud and the people there are kind of abrupt. Â Please do not get me started with the lines....heck I don't even know where in god's name I need to go and which line someone is waiting in or if you just cut someone off....it is miserable. And during the winter this place is very very cold and not warm at all....I would go there if I was starving and about to chew my right leg off but otherwise I will pass....
Review Source:Challenge: Eat everything on the menu.
It became my goal this summer to eat the entire menu at Cosi, and the Cosi frequent diner card comes in handy. But sadly, I was unable to complete it. I came here everyday before my Kaplan class, and it's just 100x better than the nearby Dunkin Donuts and Potbelly's.
Try it sometime. :)
This is definitely my go-to lunch place. Â I absolutely love the Shanghai chicken salad and the whole grain bread is amazing. Â I tend to order the same thing over and over but I have had a few other sandwiches on the menu and they are always good. Â I also think they have some of the best Iced Tea I've ever had.
Writing this review is making me hungry for a salad now!
I love Cosi's! I usually go in here daily, but, not anymore because my budget is becoming very friendly to me and not Cosi. However, the BBQ chicken pizza is AMAZING. The signature salad is AMAZING. The Chicken TBM is AMAZING!
Furthermore, I have this friend there, her name is Jessica (I think) but she's a black girl that is always at the register with long hair (well, her pony tail is long and she has on a hat, so I assume it's her hair). By now, you have probably realized, I never see this girl outside of Cosi, but she makes the most amazing Chai Tea Lattes. I'm drinking one right now. Just say, make it extra Chai-y. And she's got you!.
Eat at Cosi!!!!
I use to love this Cosi's however every time I visit the place is never clean. The tables are always dirty. The people working there are rude and you feel rushed ALL THE TIME!!! There is always food on the seats...UGHHHH!!!! I love their Cobb Salad but they have been slacking off on the bread. The bread use to be yummy and warm now its cold and hard...for the price of a salad and a drink its not worth it anymore.
Review Source:Used to love Cosi with their yummy flatbread and big salads, however, I'm now turned off by anything they offer with meat. Why? They don't trim their chicken well, and what's inviting when you look into your salad and see grisely bacon? I'll stick with the TBM (thai basil and mozerella).
Go to lunch there if you've got some time to spare as it's always packed with discombobulated lines. Don't go there if you want to have a lunch conversation b/c it gets way loud.
I'm rating this restaurant based on the delivery I received a few days ago for a meeting. Â Let me just start by saying it was delivered exactly on time. Â I ordered three different sandwich selections (beef/cheddar, chicken/pesto, turkey/brie). Â I think the basket had 25 sandwiches for 10 people, and there were only 4 left. Â I also ordered the signature salad, a fruit salad, and a dessert tray. Â Everyone was very happy. Â The only reason for 4 stars is that I thought it was a bit pricey for 10 people ($200), and I thought the desserts would be a bit better. Â Don't get me wrong - they were good, but not outstanding. Â Other than that, very, very happy with the service. Â Love the fact that the sandwiches come in little half bags, which makes them so much easier to eat in a meeting.
Review Source:First time I have been to Cosi. It is a unique setting. The service is a little confusing. I have never been to a more confusing place. There is not a single line, you start in one place and just keep moving, you should stay in one place to get your sandwich.
I asked for a grilled chicken TBM and got just a TBM. It was tasty, I just wish that I had paid more attention to the assembly, so that I could have corrected it, before I paid for it.
This Cosi is disappointing! Â They do a great lunch business as does everywhere else in the loop, but when I pay $8 dollars for a salad I expect a nice hefty salad. Â I've had the cobb salad before at many other Cosi locations and it has been great. Â The woman brought our food over the salad was half full. Â It actually looked like someone had eaten half of it. Â There was also no chicken. Â I asked the woman why there was no chicken and why it was half full and she took it back with her. Â She brought it back and it had two small strips of chicken and no extra lettuce. Â It was very good, but come on! Â I know I'll be going to the one on Monroe from now on.
*UPDATE (6/4/08) They more than made it up to me. Â I emailed the company and they got back to me and apologized and gave me a few certificates for some free food. Â They also encouraged me to give feedback anytime I see something that needs improving. Â The management really cares about their consumers which really impressed me!
I think I found my new favorite lunch spot. Â Some of my co-workers were shocked and dismayed that I had never tried Cosi so we fixed that today.
When I first walked in I was worried about the length of the line. Â Even though they have separate lines for sandwiches and salads I thought we were going to be there forever. Â Luckily they have a person that moves down the line and takes orders well in advance of you actually approaching the station where they make the food so the line moved fast. Â When you do finally approach the food prep area they have fresh bread sticks you can try at no charge. Â They were delicious... hot, soft, fresh. Â Yum!
As far as food this place has a lot to chose from. Â They have sandwiches, melts, soups, salads, and flatbread pizzas. Â That doesn't even include the breakfast and "hearth baked" dinners that they have as well. Â There's also a coffee bar for those of us that need a caffeine fix, a dessert bar for the sugar fix, and a menu that caters to kids. Â While I stood in line and looked around at some of the things others were eating I noticed that the salads really looked fantastic and a little drool may have escaped upon seeing the flatbread pizzas. Â I don't eat salad much but just looking at some of them I was really tempted. Â I ended up ordering the Wasabi Roast Beef sandwich which was fantastic. Â It had a ginger bite which I loved and the sesame soy sauce was super tasty. Â I also thought it was pretty cool that instead of forcing people to have the standard half empty bag of chips that's mostly air there's an option for a little bag of baby carrots instead. Â I thought that was a nice cause I don't really care for chips.
Unfortunately I don't think I'd go here planning to eat in. Â The eating area was packed and there were even some people standing around with trays and blank stares because there was nowhere for them to sit. Â Get it to go and stuff your face in the privacy of your own office like I did. Â :)
Definitely not my favorite place for lunch in the Loop. Â It doesn't even come near my top 5. . not even close!
I usually get a salad here because I see other people's and they LOOK good.  The Shang-hi Chicken is probably the one I have the most luck with while the others are either good or crap.  As for the sandwiches, they're pretty good  - I like the hummus one the best.  I do preesh the side of carrots because I am a big mini-vegetable fan.
Today I tried one of Cosi's new "Lighter Side" Salads. Â It was crap. Â Lots of dry lettuce, a few veggies, and a few meager chicken bites. Â The new pomegranate dressing has an alcoholic after taste. Â Blech. Â Oh, and the price? Â More on the "heavier side". Â I only come here if I have a coupon (which you can find from time to time in the Red Eye if you have the patience to sift through that garbage mag). Â $5.50 with a $2 discount??? Â I don't think I'll come back here on non-coupon days for their new-fangled salads. Â Wo, that last sentence, made me sound crotchety old lady! Â Thanks, Cosi.
Typical loop lunch destination with the main attractions being sandwiches and salads. Â While it is a bit pricier than similar cafes in the area, I think that you're also paying for better quality products.
I love the bread they use for the sandwiches here, it's on the lighter side so you don't become overstuffed by bread alone. Â I typically get one of the sandwich variations with fresh mozzarella. Â They also have interesting specials, which typically taste great!
Service is pretty efficient, they have the same desire as those getting lunch: quick and prompt, leaving little time for errors.
They recently changed the arrangement of the tables and it seems a bit more open and airy which helps greatly with the busy crowd they get during the lunch rush.
A bonus for the workaholics, free wifi.
I come here for lunch often with co-workers. Â I think salad is same as salad spinners but try it out. Â
Great sandwiches and soup. Â It is definetely acquired taste for their soup. When it's cold outside, I like to have soup and sandwhiches for lunch. Â Â Get there early for soup, it will be all gone after 2pm.
I come for the bread. Â Its so good. Â They usually look at me weird, because I just get the bread. Â But I mean, HELLO, poor college student here. Â I can't afford 5 dollars worth of meat and toppings!
One time, I think the prep guy felt sorry for me and gave me some free cheese with my bread. Â That was really nice of him.
