This place is in an old house that they converted into a restaurant. Private groups can go into their own little room to have dinner which is nice. Service was outstanding even though our group was fairly large. I had the shish kebab and it was tasty but a little expensive ($21) for the portion size and the fact that it doesn't come with any sides other than rice mixed with lentils and a little bit of yogurt. Wine selection is limited and not very good. I tried a red which was undrinkable and they replaced it with another red that was just so-so. I then switched to white which was ok but nothing special. The big negative with this place is that the bench seating is VERY uncomfortable (even though there are a bunch of pillows available). Also the table is low and creates a very awkward position for eating. For that reason alone I won't be back.
Review Source:The service, the food & the hookah were really good but the lack of space killed the experience for me.
It was super cramped and we could not even move our legs. Hence, the 3 stars!
Would love to go back for the Persian food but only if I get the other seating area where I'v heard they have better seating.
I absolutely love divan. The atmosphere is so quaint, cozy, and romantic. This is a given with seeing how small the establishment is and from reading other reviews, so know before you go you will need a reservation! That being said, if you don't mind close quarters, Divan is perfect for dinner and a hookah! We didn't mind how close we were to our neighbors because they ended up helping us maneuver the menu since they were regulars and we were really only initially interested in a hookah and wine.
We actually didn't have reservations but the manager worked with us and had us seated within 10 minutes. He was very friendly and recommended the shrimp- we took his advice and it was INCREDIBLE! Followed by the most incredible dessert- the donuts (sp?). If you go, try the Pomegranate wine (neighbors advice- and they were absolutely spot on with this recommendation) - it is to die for and tops off the hookah perfectly! (note: it is a sweeter wine, perfect for the girls who love a good riesling but want a good sweet red instead!)
I cannot recommend Divan enough. Whenever we have out of town guests we make sure Divan is on the itinerary. Everyone is ridiculously friendly, from the valet to the servers, I have never had a more pleasant experience. While the evening out does end up being pricier than most "dinners", it is the total experience that makes it all worth it. I can't wait to become a true "regular" :)
If I were rating on the food & drinks & hookah I would rate a 5.... but OMG, the seating room we were in was TINY in a tiny room and the chairs pretty much touched the table of others if we were to get up or move....the service was HORRIBLE! We first had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated (hence we made reservations) second, once seated we waited 15 minutes to get a server to take our drink orders... third the drinks took long... fourth placing the order for food took long and receiving the food took longer but getting utensils took the LONGEST until my friend decided to get up and ask someone walking by about it... the check came much later with empty plates and glasses sitting on the table for all of 36 minutes... Hence, we were not the only complainers there, other table residents were complaining and unhappy too, but with the alcohol it helped :( Do better Divan!
Oh, I had the Pan Seared Chicken Breast... TO DIE FOR!
Persian food is pricey, in general. Well, compared to Asian cuisine. However, Persian food is really yummy and healthy. I just love ScoutMob for giving me options to try new and different types of restaurants. I saw Divan on there so told my friend about it so my friend and I met up for dinner and we tried Persian food last time at Rumi's Kitchen, we were in love with Persian food.
Valet parking. House turned restaurant. I really like the look and feel of the place. The ambience is really nice. We had a choice to sit inside or outside but we chose inside. We don't like the smell of smoke so we thought we would take a chance and stay indoors.
We were seated at a lounge area with dim lights. The couches and tables were very low. We could see a mini bar not too far from us and stairs leading upstairs. Our waitress is really sweet and knows the menu well. I wish I remembered her name but she is gorgeous and has long dark brown hair.
For appetizer, we ordered pita with traditional hummus, black bean hummus, & tabouleh. I really liked the traditional hummus and tabouleh but didn't love the black bean hummus. My friend enjoyed the balck bean hummus a lot and we both agreed on how yummy the tabouleh was. We received at least 12 toasted triangular pita breads. For entrees, we both decided to order the Pan Roasted Airline Chicken Breast served over roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus topped with garlic herb butter. There were three asparagus on top but they were HUGE. The chicken breast also had the drummette attached to it. It was juicy, tender, had lots of flavor, with a hint of spiciness. The roasted potatoes were subtle but tasteful. We were full from the appetizer so we took the entrees to go.
But that didn't stop us from ordering dessert! My friend ordered the Vanilla Bean Ice Cream chocolate rum sauce and I ordered the Vanilla Crème Brulee traditional french style custard. We loved the desserts and had left no crumbs, lol.
We were disappointed when smoking came from the bar. No, it wasn't hookah, no fruity smells from that tobacco. We purposely sat inside to avoid smoke. Thank goodness that we were done with our food already.
Overall experience is good. Food is good. If I could rate 3.5, I would. I feel that 3 is too low and 4 is too high. Why not 4? The price is too high for me, in general. Although food is good, I personally thought Rumi's Kitchen has better food and look of restaurant. My friend didn't like the low seating and said that if her knees were above her waist and table, then she didn't like it. Besides Divan is located in Buckhead so I prefer going to Roswell or staying outside of the Perimeter if the food is better for me.
Absolutely love this place.
What an amazing concept, to turn a house and even the closets into little dining spaces. It does feel a little cramped in some places sometimes, but also gives it this very homey, cozy intimate feeling. Great place to bring a second or third date.
The food is pretty good and the drinks are very good. I liked their hookahs as well. This is a trendy sort of place and the people you come in with and what you look like sometimes dictates the kind of service you get, which is just fine by me.
The black bean hummus is amazing!! Get it, you will not regret it.
They are really busy especially on weekend nights, but I dont think this is necessarily a bad thing.
Really amazing atmosphere. I'd come back just for that alone. The fact that they have yummy food, great drinks (a little pricey) and strong hookahs are just bonuses.
LOVE this place!
We went there on Friday night and you would think the way that it's run it is a new establishment. We called to make reservations ahead of time to avoid the wait and confusion. Making the reservation was a pain, because we told her what time we wanted to be seated and she couldn't comprehend the request. When we arrived and was seated, it was about 20 minutes before any one acknowledged us and took our orders. The room we were in had 4 other sections in it and there was a table who had gotten serviced twice before we were even acknowledged.
Our waiter Emilli seemed nice at first, until the runner brought up the wrong entree for my boyfriend. She was apologetic, which was good and offered him a complimentary drink while we waited. The next issue was with the check. When she brought the check it included the incorrect entree and the complimentary drink along with the items we consumed. We alerted her of the mistake and she stated she didn't remember offering to comp his drink, but she'd take our word for it. That was strike 1. Â When she returned she had removed the entree from the check, but left the complimentary drink and offered him $10 cash. She then stated that the money could be used for her tip. REALLY?! Â That was strike 2. The third strike came when we looked at the ticket and find that she had already given herself an 18% tip. We were only a party of 2 and according to their policy, gratuity is added for a party of 6 or more. I was too through with the situation at that point. I understand it is busy, but that's just ridiculous.
So i'm a total regular here and love everything about this place except the occasional wait times, despite a reservation...this usually happens on the weekend but still super annoying knowing I call ahead of time and hello...they've seen me there a bah-zillion times...I expect special treatment by now ;) Â Hookah is awesome, good stuff, not the cheap stuff. Â Drinks are standard, full bar. Â Service always on point (except the moody hostess that makes me wait...arghhhh!).
Review Source:This is my first ever Yelp review, so I thought I would review my favorite Atlanta restaraunt first.
This place has a fantasic atmosphere that is relaxing and comfortable. I went here on a date and we sat on a comfortable couch with lots of good smelling hookah going on around us. Â Everything was very good from there
- The drinks - I love a good mixed drink and often this is more important to me than the food. Â Divan did not dissapoint. Â We tried pretty much all of them and they had fresh mixers and they were delicious. Â
- The food - I had low expectations for the food that was going to be served at a hookah bar. Â However, the food was actually very good. Â I had the lamb sausage and my GF had the kebabs. Â The sausage was by far my favorite. It did not taste like most sausage, but seemed to be made of very high quality meat and loads of flavor.
- The hookah - We had a berry blend and it was pretty good. Â I wouldn't say it was the best hookah I've ever had, but it is definately in the top tier. Â I am ready to go back though becuase I got a whiff of the chocolate mint hookah and it smelled incredible.
This is one of the better places in Atlanta to go and chill and just have a good time. Â It is ideal for a date or a group of 4-6 people. Â You have to be a bit adventurous, but if you are, you will love this place.
This is an amazing place. The atmosphere is cozy, food is outstanding, excellent drinks, and outstanding hookah. An enjoyable and unique experience worth every penny. Our service was fantastic. We were able to use a Scoutmob deal as well. Try the crème brûlée, mango flavored hookah, and melon mojito. Out of this world. We will definitely be coming back!
Review Source:I love this restaurant. The meals are totally worth the price. I can see why they have a $25 minimum for people to come in - the average table stays well over 2 hours. Our waitress (I don't know her name) was so amazingly sweet and attentive. She really knew the menu and was comfortable making recommendations to my friend's mother, who has many dietary restrictions.
I wish I could buy the black bean hummus in a giant gallon sized tub so I could eat it every day with the toasty fresh bread. The "airline chicken" comes with some herb butter that is most likely the best thing I've ever eaten. They even convinced me that asparagus is a valid choice for food (I hate asparagus usually). The shish kabobs were so tender and well seasoned. I have only been here twice so far but I really recommend it!
Everyone else in my party got the creme brulee, and they said it was one of the best they've had.
I went here to meet up with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while. Sundays have 2 for $40 meals which consist of an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert which helped because the food is pricey (for a good reason). Everything was delicious!! Our waitress was amazingly attentive. The atmosphere was perfect for catching up with my friend. All in all I cannot say enough good things about this place. My experience was awesome!!
Review Source:I threw a birthday party for my wife here and I have to say Divine is awesome!
I called ahead and made reservations for a party of 15. When we arrived we were seated on time and the service for the next 2.5 hrs was A+++++
The food and staff were amazing not one person in our party had a complaint. I had cupcakes that I brought with us and they held them for us until it was time to bring them out.
Some of the things we tried were the crab cake appetizer, chix & beef kabobs, quail, mahi mahi all were very good. The Pinot Grigio is very good we had like 4 bottles of it.
Good job Divine & thanks for making my wife's birthday one to remember!
Wow, this place is off the hook-ah! Too bad its all the way in Atlanta, imagine taking an old 3 story house and converting all the rooms with tables and couches with cool dim lighting and art work for an intimate and relaxing setting. Great hookah flavors, drinks, and service make this place a winner. Its not open late but definitely the place to kick back in the ATL. Will go back for sure!
Review Source:Previously in life I would have given this place five stars because it used to be awesome, but I am SO disappointed in their price increases lately! They must really be struggling, which is sad for them, but even sadder for the consumers that used to like to come here.
First few times I went with friends and wasn't paying anyways, so I didn't even know how their prices were.
Then I had some friends come in from out of town. I brought them and we had to have at least a $25 drink or food order to have a hookah, but since there were about six of us, that was fine.
Then I brought a friend from out of town a different time. They had placed a sign that said the minimum to even sit at a table was $25 food and drink order. All we wanted to do was smoke a hookah but we reluctantly ordered their overpriced house wine. I figured I was just being extra resentful since I wasn't hungry at all and thought it was ridiculous to spend $25 on something I don't want just to smoke their hookah which is another 15-18 (or more) bucks on top of that.
The final straw was my most recent visit. I brought two Turkish friends as one had just recently moved to Atlanta and since it was a weeknight (I think it was a Thursday), we wanted to do something kind of chill so I suggested we go to Divan for a couple of drinks and a hookah. Well, when we got there, we see a new sign that said that the food and drink order minimum for ordering a hookah is now $25 PER PERSON. And that does not include the additional charges for the hookah itself. So for three people, even with no hookah, we were looking at a minimum charge of $90 ($75 food and drink + tip). Add the hookah, and you're looking at $100+ for some mediocre wine, tiny food portions, and a cramped, noisy environment. If you are going to be charging that much, you'd better have more to offer than that. That's why it was okay when it was $25 per table. This is just out of control.
So, we did what any reasonable person would do...we went and bought our own huge hookah (which was less than our food and drink minimum would have been at Divan), drank our own delicious wine and relaxed on our fluffy plush sofas in front of our warm crackling fire. Now we are always having people over at our homemade hookah lounge which is much more enjoyable.
My friend brought be here after moving back to Atlanta after 13 years. We had dinner and smoked Hookah. The outdoor seating is ok...but nothing is better than sitting inside!!
The scallops are BEYOND YUMMY! The Mahi was very good.
I love going here for the atmosphere and to smoke Hookah. I love the free valet...I always tip them extra because they really take care of your car!!!
Great people watching and cool vibe!
I love Mediterranean food and hookah, so I thought that Divan would be perfect for a small birthday dinner with friends at 8 pm on a Saturday. Â I called a few days ahead to make a reservation for nine people and updated the number to eight on the actual day.
Although Divan is a nice restaurant/hookah lounge, it's not ideal for large groups unless people are willing to spend a lot on food and drinks. Â Their website explains the details of various deposits and minimum spending required for groups of 10 or more people, and it can get really pricey - up to $50 per person if you have a group of 20! Â However, for groups of eight or less, the minimum spending is $25 per person if anyone wants to smoke hookah.
Five of us arrived on time, and although I thought that we'd have to wait for the rest of our group to be seated, the hostess had no problem seating us first. Â We were led to a private room upstairs, which was a nice surprise. Â I had anticipated being seated at a regular dining table. Â There was enough room to seat about 10 people comfortably. Â I'm not really a fan of dining at a low table while sitting on a sofa, but I liked the privacy and relaxed atmosphere of the room.
Our server was kind and patient, and she checked on us a few times before we ordered as we were waiting for the last person in our party to arrive. Â We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir ($36 vs. $9/glass) to start. Â Then, we ordered a hookah (Blue Mist) and our entrees.
Since I had looked at the menu online, I noticed that the prices of some menu items had increased since the last time they updated their website. Â For example, the Chicken Kabobs are actually $20 but their online menu says it's $18, and the Basil-mint Caramelized Scallops are $23 vs. $20 online. Â Just know that the menu price you see online may not be the current price at the restaurant.
I ordered the Shish Kabobs thinking that it would be one of their best dishes since it's so popular. Â I asked for it to be cooked to medium temperature and had no other requests to modify my entree.
The hookah was brought out soon after we ordered it. Â It was a small hookah with only one hose, but the server brought us plenty of plastic mouth tips. I asked if they had any hookahs with multiple hoses, but our server told us they only have the single-hose ones since the flow is better with just one hose. Â The Blue Mist is one of my favorite hookah flavors, and it was good here. Â It has a nice blueberry flavor with a slightly minty aftertaste. Â Everyone who smoked enjoyed it.
Our server stopped by fairly often to ask if we wanted to order any other drinks or to refill our waters. Â Since we were enjoying our conversation and hookah, it didn't seem to take much time for our food to be served.
* Shish Kabobs ($21) - This is a standard Mediterranean dish of beef (shish) kabobs served with yogurt (tzatziki sauce) and basmati rice with lentil, raisins, and caramelized onions. Â There was also a slice of roasted tomato, which I enjoyed and wished there was more. Â However, when it was initially served, I cut into the beef and saw that it was cooked almost well-done rather than medium. Â I told our server who apologized, took the plate, and told me they'd cook a new plate as soon as possible. Â So while everyone else was eating, I simply sat and smoked hookah as I waited. Â When the server brought me the new plate, I cut into it and saw that the meat was cooked medium-well rather than medium. Â I informed the server that it still wasn't medium but it was fine and I would just eat it. Â I didn't think the meat was very flavorful, and the tzatziki sauce helped but wasn't as good as I've had at other Mediterranean restaurants. Â I honestly thought that the rice was what made the entree "OK" overall because I really liked the raisins and the caramelized onions which complemented the shish kabobs very well.
We told our server that we were paying separately. Â Their website states, "For your convenience we provide separate checks." Â However, our server gave us one check and told us to write the amount that we want charged for each person's credit card on the back. Â We took some time to calculate and list our individual totals, including tax and the mandatory 18% gratuity. Â So we were surprised and a bit annoyed when our server later told us that they could only accept four credit cards. Â Those of us who had cash scrambled to put down our individual amounts, and it eventually worked out, but it would have been nice if we had been warned in advance.
One thing I have to note is that Divan had COMPED my Shish Kabobs because they were not cooked to my satisfaction. Â This was completely unexpected and greatly appreciated! Â That's what I call excellent customer service!
Overall, Divan gets 3.5 stars for their great ambiance, "OK" but pricey food, and good hookah. Â I may return for the ambiance, hookah, and great service but won't expect great food. Â We shall see!

The ambiance was amazing. Food is pricey. They always make sure your coal is burning or they'll change it out for a new one. Staff seemed friendly.
BUT the reason I don't give it five stars is bc... Ok so they only Valet Park your car. Which I guess is fine bc all you do is tip them at the end. Well when I went 3 days ago my friend drove her car. And by the time we got back to her place for the night she was missing a few of her keys, including her house key. Plus she had a different set of keys attached to her key ring! Why anyone would tamper with someone else's keys I don't know. But she was very pissed off, talked to the Owner and had to drive all the way back to get her keys. That was a first when it came to Valet. My suggestion is to make sure you have everything on your key ring you showed up with before you take off.
I couldn't agree more with Lisa C. Divan is fantastic!
This past weekend my parents were in town helping me move to a new place and on Monday (Memorial Day) we were looking for a spot to have a final dinner before they headed home the next day. Â Unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it), many of our favorite haunts were closed for the holiday.
So, on a whim, I thought of Divan (thank you ScoutMob for bringing it to my attention) and we arrived around 8:30. Â The whole look of the place is great - you wouldn't even know the adorable little house set back off of Piedmont was a restaurant if you weren't looking for it - the sign's very unobtrusive and not obnoxious like Fogo de Chao, Bones, the Buckhead Diner, etc.
Apparently, luck was with us, because as we walked to the door, one of the people I work with during the day held it open for and immediately recognized me (turns out he's one of the owners of Divan! Â Sweet!). Â We managed to get a table out on the secluded patio - truly you'd have no idea this place was right off busy Piedmont Rd because you're surrounded by a nice privacy fence with lots of bamboo and other plants giving it a very tropical, inviting feel.
We were all pretty famished by this point, so I elected to share an appetizer of black bean hummus and then Dad and I both ordered the shish kebab, while my mom got the airline chicken. Â Our waitress brought out the hummus with naan and it was fantastic. Â Very creamy and smooth with a little bit of a spicy bite that gave it a little something extra. Â And the naan was thick and piping hot (too hot to handle at first) - fresh from the oven. Â We dug in, then Alfredo (my co-worker) brought out another appetizer on the house: the kashk a Bademjoon (eggplant mixed with cream of whey to make a tasty spread with caramelized onions on top of more naan). Â Oh my. Â It was even better than the hummus and I'm a huge fan of hummus.
The entrees were great too (though if I'd known we'd have so many appetizers, I would have split the shish kebab). Â As it was, the meat was fantastic - probably the best seasoning I've ever had on the meat - tangy and slightly spicy and the yogurt on the side was a perfect compliment to cool it down. Â The basmati rice with golden raisins, lentils and more caramelized onions was also perfect. Â And giant portions! Â So much food!
We thought after that we couldn't eat a single bite more. Â Then our waitress emerged again with a plate of Italian donuts for dessert (more compliments of Alfredo) with chocolate and vanilla sauce on either side for dipping. Â Somehow, we managed to choke it down (they were beyond delicious little bites of heaven with chocolate or vanilla sauce).
I practically felt like being rolled out of the restaurant afterwards. Â "Food coma" really doesn't do the feeling justice - the best way to describe it is that I haven't needed to eat much today, I'm still hard at work processing last night's feast. Â
Definitely coming back here for a future dinner and drink to be sure!
Divan is Divine...
First time. We walked in after reading about it on Yelp and was happy we did. Thanks, Tramaine W. your review helped to get me here!
The food was so good I didn't want it to end. I had the shrimp dish that left my mouth watering. Yummy goodness was how I described each and every bite.
The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for - dim lights, relaxed, comfy, like sitting in your house. Oh wait, it is a house maybe that's why it felt so comfy. There are multiple rooms to choose from to dine in that have love table and comfy couches to relax in.
It's split into two levels.
Downstairs is more of a restaurant type feel with a lounge area. Upstairs has different rooms, one with tables - restaurant style and the other rooms are more intimate, with low tables to dine on, and comfy couch-like seating. There is a private room that can be rented for an intimate party gathering.
Love Hookah? This is the place for it! I'm a newbie when it comes to Hookah and I really enjoyed having it here. They charge $15 for their Hookah smoke and they make sure it stays lit.
The food is a bit on the pricey side but as I said earlier the dish I had was well worth it.
This is definitely a great place to hang out with friends, catch a few good laughs, and Hookah, good food, and drinks as well!
Located in the heart of buckhead right across the street from Havana Club. Â Valet parking only so no need to worry about where to park. Â The restaurant is small but there are two stories and an outdoor area in the summer. Â
This is a restaurant and they want you to order food and drink so you have to order at least $20 worth of food/drink per person in order to get a hookah. Â Nevertheless, they hookah flavors are really good and the food is incredible. Â Their chef and wait staff know their stuff. Â
The ambiance is romantic. Â They have rooms for groups but it is also good for a date. Â They also have a full stocked small bar if you just want to go for a drink. Â They also have some good drink specials. Â I had a pomegranate martini for $5. Â Not bad at all!
They are open late on weekends and the crowd is fun and mixed. Â Enjoy!
My friend and I were choosing dinner one night based on scoutmob. When she told me the kind of day she had, I chose here! lol. She doesn't do hookah though.
Divan is a cozy house, literally. You can tell the restaurant is a old house. The bartender, I can't remember his name but he made us an excellent Cosmo with Ciroc Peach. After we settled in we each had kabobs, she had lamb and I had chicken (so predictable). Can you say YUM! Meat was moist, melt in your mouth goodness.
I will be coming back here for the hookah but just know that you have to spend a minimum $25 pp to order hookah.
I have been here five or six times, but had not been here in a while until last week. Last week I took a few investors here and we did the Hookah thing and ordered a bunch of food. Hookah was just OK. I am pretty picky for a white guy I think coming from NYC, but hey it was not bad, and at $15 (half off between 6:30-7:30) you really cannot complain that much.
I lived for 5 years next to Le Souk in NYC which I still consider to be the gold standard for the combo of Hookah, food and nightlife. Â Â Divan does a very good job of also combining all three.
The things that i rave about with regard to Divan are both the service and the food. Â Every time I have been here the servers and management have always been very helpful, kind and attentive. Â Â As for the food, I normally get chicken or lamb kabobs when i come here and they are always stupendous. Â Â This time we ordered most all of the small plates. Â Â All of them were outstanding, especially the eggplant, dolma, and the kufta.
I love how this place is in Buckhead and retains its character. Â Â I need to make sure to come here more often. Â
With all of its nooks and crannies, this would be a good date place. Â I noted a couple with a bottle of bubbles leisurely taking in a hookah. Â Â Â
There always seems to be a nice bit of a bar scene downstairs, always a mash up of ethnicity's at this place. Â Nice music in the background. Â Â Good times.
My all time favorite cuisine is Mediterranean, and Divan's is DEFINITELY on the top of that list.
Not only was the experience amazing, but the service was so gracious and the food was by far the best I've ever tasted. I've always been reluctant to choose lamb as an appetizer because previous places I've tried it tend to over-salt the meat or overcook it, but the friend that brought me here insisted I try it. Despite the fact that I was starving, that lamb was cooked to a perfect medium and was SO flavorful. The salmon was also very flavorful, the chicken kabobs were juicy and the hummus was everything I expected it to be! It was by far theeeee best place I've been to in a long while. The server kept it coming with the drinks and hookah, and was so super sweet and timely.
The restaurant structure was interesting -- it looks like a house from the outside, but that hardly matters. The room we were in upstairs let us have a little private party of 10 and I had a blast! I love the vibe of Divan's, so much so, that I will not let a lamb chop get in my path until the next time I hit up ATL!
Hands down one of the sexiest spots in Buckhead! Went here Sun. night wit a group of ppl. Pls go sit outside at night underneath the lights, won't regret it. Â
We all had different hookahs, listed in order from best to least
White Peach, recommended by server, Mango, Watermelon and Apple, which tasted like licorice to everyone, gross. Â Of course everyone gets their own detachable mouthpiece so we switched flavs every 10 mins. Â
I never knew one could feel a buzz off of these things, but I was soooo good after my cocktails were circulating in my system. Â I have nvr been high but I can imagine this is a waaaay scaled down version. Â Once again this is a good date spot if u can spend a little cash. Â
Why the H, was there 1 bathroom per sex? Â This is a former house turned restaurant but geesh. Â The waitstaff was super friendly and valet guy was cool as well. Â
The only food we got was some choc cake that looked so small, I did not dare taste it but let the others have at it. Â It did look good tho.
Most def, will return on some lazy afternoon.
I love hookahs and good company. When I saw this restaurant featured on http://restaurant.com, I had to snatch a gift cert [only to find out that they were invalid on Saturdays, grrrrr]. Â I met some friends there. I arrived super late. They had already ordered appetizers and warned me about what to eat and what not to eat. Â I heard the Crab Risotto Croquettes were good. Eh, they were okay. The party of 3 complained about how they ordered drinks right before I got there [which was about 30 min prior to] and they never got them.
The waitress seemed really spaced out. She came to the table and asked FOUR (4) times what we ordered. Each time she had it written down!! The fifth time she mixed up our tickets and passed her pad around to put our names on it. Strange. It was comical to say the least. Â I asked to speak to the manager just so that he was aware of what was going on. He gave us complimentary round of Lemon Drops for the table. Â To the left, a table of 2 walked out because they waited too long for a waitress. To the right, a table of 4 had gotten up and walked out 5 mintues prior to. After the manager gave us a complimentary Hookah coupon [DAMN, do we REALLY have to come back?!?] another table tapped him on the shoulder to complain. Not a good night for Divan, huh? Â Unfortunately, we have to visit this place because I still have my gift cert and so does 3 other girls in the group.
So I realize that Im a picky eater, but geez the Alfredo tasted like it came out of a Lipton Pasta Sides package! I was not at all impressed. Â I sent the Black Bean Hummus back. Overall, I was disappointed with this place. I would only return because I dont want my cert to go to waste :-/
Took my friend here to show her what "hookah" was. Happy hour hookah time is the time to go. 6:30-7:30pm everyday...that's the only time you'd find me there.
HOWEVER, each person MUST order a $20 minimum to actually get to smoke the hookah. Deduct 1 star. But honestly that's not too hard, since the drinks/food are sorta on the more pricey side for the amount you get (very little). Just don't expect the small plates to fill you up (aka "mezza"). It won't. Deduct 1/2 a star for teeny tiny plates at hefty prices.
1) Caprese salad = hard to mess up. If you like cheese and tomatoes...score!
2) Lamb kabobs are lamb meets heaven in kabob-land. Two orders in and I see my $$ flying away.
Go here to celebrate an occasion. It can get pretty bustling on the weekends so I recommend making a reservation. Or if you want a more laid back scenerio, ask to sit outside (weather permitting) during happy hour time, NOT on the weekend.
Parking is valet, and I'm not a valet type of person. Deduct 1/2 star for not giving me a choice to self valet.
The hookah was SO smooth and amazing. We had the blue star (or blue buzz, or something), it was nice and minty, and amazing. Did I mention it was amazing? Hookah lovers heaven. $15 per hookah, $1 per additional charcoal. Atmosphere was really nice.
Tried one of the coffees and the chocolate cake. It was amazing. :] The cake comes in a little cup. Most people would consider it tiny and not worth the $7. But it was the perfect size for dessert for me. It came with a shot glass of sweet cream which you can either just drink, or pour it into the middle of the cake. Delicious!!!
I'll definitely go back to try the dinner, other desserts, and other hookah flavors. Make a reservation so you don't have to wait on busy nights.
I purchased a living social deal a while ago, and finally had a chance to use it this past Saturday night. I really wanted to love this place - middle eastern food and hookah - what's not to like?
The decor and food were definitely 4 or 5 star material, but the service was a serious buzz kill.
Our party of 5 was seated at a lovely round table in the upstairs dining room. The lighting and ambiance was sexy without feeling too posh or like it was even trying very hard. Â Several of us started with the house special sangria. It was really good, but we came to find out they were $12 a piece. A glass of wine would have been a far better investment.
We had the hummus and 6 spice potatoes to get things started. The flavors were incredible! Be warned that the little dish of red sauce that comes with the potatoes will cost you $1 per refill. The waiter promised to bring some veggies to go with the hummus (I'm trying to avoid gluten these days)...... 45 min later and several follow up requests resulted in a plate of cucumbers which we were then charged $6 for! ridiculous. :(
I had the spinach salad as my main course, it was ok. Others had the lamb kabobs, shish kabobs, and a salmon special. They were all raving! There were more service complaints to be made here - like taking 15 min to get oil and vinegar for my salad.
At the end of the meal we ordered a white peach hookah. The server must have realized he'd made some mistakes because he brought us another hookah, fuzzy navel, on the house. They were both very good and smooth.
I think this might be a better place to try with just a 2 person party, unless a big reservation grants you a dedicated server. There was a miscellaneous $18 on the bill that we decided not to investigate based on how long it was taking the server to get back to us. Despite the great food, I'm left with a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth. I'm giving it 3 stars but I doubt I'll go back.
If i am ever in the mood for scarring my lungs a little, this will be my first stop. I came here last night with my cousin (Tricia S.--check our her review as well) after she found it on her phone through yelp. I had come here once before but had only a vague recollection of it.
First of all, the place is adorable--a well maintained old house with cute art and a funky vibe that isn't too theme-like for a hookah bar. We went to a room with a cute fireplace and were seated at a corner table next to a group of girls that were definitely there just to score some cute facebook pictures blowing smoke into each others mouths.
After trying my cousin's pomegranate martini, I had to order one as well. Apparently they steep the vodka in pomegranates, so that may explain why I was convinced I was only drinking juice. We also ordered the traditional hummus and the black bean hummus. Both came with two large pieces of pita that was soft and warm. The black bean hummus had some sort of red pepper roumalade that helped it edge out the traditional. I'd suggest getting both though if your'e with 3 or more people.
All-in-all, this place is top notch. The crowd ranged from pretentious to questionably under-aged, which made it enjoyable for people watching. I think when I go again I'd try eating, although maybe not seafood as when we arrived there was a fishy odor in the room. That was quickly concealed with our white peach/mint hookah though... smooth and relaxing!
I went here for the first time tonight. After reading all the reviews, I am SO glad we had a 7:00 reservation for our 8-person party. We were seated right away and our service was fast and there were not very many people in here. Â If its Saturday night and you go here without a reservation, just walk out and go to the Krystal down the street, because you're waiting over an hour anywhere in Buckhead that doesn't have a drive-thru.
That aside, after learning you can get 1/2 price hookahs before 7:30, we got two for our party. That was more than enough. We got two flavored tobaccos and all passed the pipes around. It was still going after we got our food and finished it!
My wife and I decided instead of entrees we'd get several appetizers so we got to sample a lot of different things. A very good call, I must say. While our friends' entrees did look delicious, I'm glad we decided to get the small plates, so many more flavors to try. The black bean hummus is AMAZING. The stuffed grape leaves are delicious and I really enjoyed the marinated goat cheese as well. The server was trying really hard to sell the pomegranite martinis, but since I'm a cheapskate who doesn't want to spend $10 on a drink, I did not get one. In all, my wife and I ordered a half-dozen appetizers, so were too stuffed at the end to think about dessert, though the choices sounded amazing.
But, if you go here, DO get a hookah. Even if you are absolutely repulsed by cigarette or cigar smoke, this is nothing like that. Also keep in mind according to the menu, the restaurant requires each person have a $15 food/drink tab to smoke a hookah.
We enjoyed this place a lot and can't wait to return.
I gotta say I was a little disappointed in Divan. Â
They have some little couch areas, but we didn't get to sit in one. Â The music was too loud to hear each other and the waitress. Â The food was just alright. Â But the spicy potatoes were awesome.
We went on a Friday night, come to find out to get a Hooka, each person in your party has to order a $15 minimum, which was really no problem, but its just nice to be aware of.
Our waitress got slower and slower as the night went on. Â All in all, not my favorite place.
Aight.....so this is essentially a house full of people getting liquored and "hookahed" up! Â That's what I thought when I first walked in to meet some friends. Â They, and everyone else in the place, were laid out on the daybeds lookin' like the cast of "Half-Baked."
Not long after arriving I joined the 'cast.' Â
This is a very relaxing place. Â The hookah was flavorful but not overwhelming. Â Service was good and the food and drink were on point. Â I had the pomegranate martini (I typically don't do martinis) and the hummus. Â Both were tasty.
Mmmm...hookah...how can you go wrong with hookah? We got the double apple. Yum.
I started off drinking my usual vodka tonics, but upon realizing there was cava on the menu, I promptly rectified my mistake!
They put a ton of cherries in the glass, a little too much, but still a nice touch. Even if I can't digest em, they taste good.
Service was a little on the slow side but for some reason they only charged us for 1 drinks when we had a few plus the hookah, so really, I am not complaining.
Was pleasantly surprised the night I went. Expected the typical whack-a$$ Buckhead crowd but it was more like people from distant...er....lands....where hookah is....indigenous :) Â
A calming experience with interesting conversation between tables/across cultures. Â Authentic music, food was good, drinks were better, dessert was dee-lish! Â
Though cigs caused my Dad to stroke-out and lung cancer took my grandpappy, on that night I took a break from the anti-smoking campaign. Â Somehow smoking tobacco mixed with fruit and flower infused molasses from a water pipe seemed safe. Â Nuh????? Â
Woke up the next day, lungs wailing. Â Bronchitis followed. Â Will never smoke again but would return to eat, drink, chat and breathe fragrant secondhand smoke
