Lively, even on a Sunday, which is a welcome rarity in Atlanta. Â The place felt warm and welcoming.
I had a very good roast chicken and a pretty good calamari appetizer. Â My friends' gnocchi and pasta special, on the other hand, were outstanding. Â I loved the wine list and the friendly, professional service.
I'll probably go back, order a pasta dish, and knock this sucker up a star.
I will admit that I was a little intimidated by the menu. Â I do not eat Italian too often, and I really have no idea how to navigate the menu. Â So when in doubt just ask the server what's good. Â Fortunately the service is great, and everything the server recommended was delicious.
We started off the night with Mozzarella Burrata, which was a complete gamble for me. Â The waiter recommended it because they flew the cheese maker from Florence to Atlanta. Â He described how the cheese would lose some of its quality going through customs so they just up and moved the cheese maker. Â There you go. Â The dish was absolutely delicious, and the spiciness from the Calabrian chili oil combined with the freshness of the cheese and cucumbers was amazing. Â I would absolutely reccomend that dish to anyone.
For my entree, I ended up with the Mushroom Ragu Tagliolini since the server recommended it, and I really liked it. Â The truffle oil can be a little overwhelming for some people, but I really enjoy truffle oil. Â I could probably drink that stuff straight up
On Monday's La Tavola has $10 pasta night, which is a great deal. Also, if you order an appetizer portion of pasta it is $5 cheaper on any night. The portions are big so the appetizer portion is a good deal as well.

We came on a lazy Sunday evening and had a very solid meal. My wife ordered the artichoke salad & fettuccine bolognese, while I chose the pork cheek appetizer and squid ink and calamari pasta. After a few minutes I was informed they were out of the squid ink pasta so I chose the braised rabbit gnocchi.
I was so pleased they no longer had the dish I originally ordered because my default rabbit gnocchi was awesome!
Decent enough service and a relaxed atmosphere. A great neighborhood trattoria.
