Love this place! BYOB, good service, excellent food, and you can make reservations. We've been coming here since they opened, and have been thrilled when we can get groupons for this place. This is among my favorite BYOB high-end Mexican restaurants.

Unfortunately this place is closing 2/9/13!! We went last night to use our google local certificate. If you have a groupon or other cert and you are reading this, go there quickly!

Food was great - we had the steak fajitas and the pork tenderloin. The sauce on the pork tenderloin was excellent. Service was really good. BYOB. As others have said, the location and décor are negatives.

Everything about this place was excellent. Food, service, atmosphere, etc.

Food: everyone and the waiters will recommend the duck nachos and so will I. Fantastic. I combined the roasted creamy corn soup (has crab meat in it) with the smoked salmon quesadilla special for my entree. Mom had skirt steak fajitas, brother had crab crusted salmon. Everything was delicious. We also got the caramel bread pudding for dessert. Very good!

Our server was soft spoken, but very attentive, polite and knowledgeable.

Some reviewers on yelp were wondering where the french was... I would say it is Mexican food served french style. I'm not complaining.

Love that it's BOYB. Cash only doesn't bother me here.

Made reservations to go back next week!

Duck nachos are very good. Love all the different sauces in their various entrees. Bold yet multi-faceted. Great service, and I love that its byob.

It was a bit of a trek to get to Dorado, but I'm glad we tried it, thanks to a Groupon. Aside from the location, my only other complaint would be the decor. It isn't nearly as refined as the food, but perhaps the out-of-the-way address and slightly outdated decorations keep the emphasis on the unusual Mexican/French dishes.

Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, and I loved that this was a BYOB. We sampled the duck nachos, which my date called the best nachos he's ever had. They were definitely tasty and unlike any I've had before.

For our entrees, I stuck with duck and had the roasted duck breast that came with dried cherries (different than the menu I currently see online). My date had the chiles rellenos de mariscos (chile rellenos with shrimp, scallops, and crab). Both were well prepared and came out quickly.

Thanks to the BYOB policy (and the Groupon), this was a very reasonable meal. With tax and tip and without the Groupon, it was $70-80 for the two of us. If this were closer, I'd eat here regularly. Regardless, I intend to return.

Partner and I had a Groupon which needed to be used. I made the reservation for a recent Friday evening. Two busses and 30 minutes after leaving Buena Park we arrived at Dorado. We like it...we really like it. Next time I'll take a bottle of wine with me. It's a popular place and most tables had brought their libations. I had been advised when I made the reservation so I don't withhold any stars for this deficiency of our experience. (I have a sparkling pinot noir I think would work well here.) We started off with the Duck Nachos which were unique and delicious. My pork tenderloin was was equally unique and delicious. I forgot what partner had for the entree but I know he really liked it.

Mexican french fusion you say? An interesting paring no doubt and Dorado does it right. I went with a group of friends, we started with duck nachos. Let me just say for the record if you're able to prepare duck well (which Dorado definitely does) and you put it on nachos, you're guaranteed to have a winning combination. I loooove nachos and they can definitely be done badly, Dorado's duck nachos do not disappoint. They're an appetizer so it's not your standard 6 inch tall mountain of chips and such, it's pulled duck with crema, chihuahua cheese, house black beans, and jalapenos- delicious. I ordered the pork tenderloin (medium) with a Mexican red pepper sauce (no dairy, not spicy) comes with brandied sweet potato mash and sauteed veggies. Awesome. The pork was tender cooked perfectly, the potatoes subtly sweet, and the veggies fresh. A dinner mate ordered the skirt steak fajitas with cilantro rice and black beans. This is the kind of place where when you order a steak medium rare, it comes out medium rare. That might seem trivial to some, for me a mark of a chef who's paying attention. All in all a great dinner and I will definitely go back. And it's BYOB! Check it out!

This is as good as it gets for a neighborhood restaurant. As all other reviewers have said, famous for the duck nachos so my table ordered a platter of it and it was fantastic. Many of my guests that had never been here before were unsure at first about "duck" nachos but in just a matter of moments they were all gone - so it was a hit! I chose this for my birthday eve dinner spot with close friends for tasty interesting dishes (all other 6 guests were wildly pleased), attentive service, and an intimate ambiance. Thumbs up! Oh, and there's parking at the back of the restaurant and of course - byob. Everyone of my guests who said they would all be back.

I'm confused about Dorado's Yelp popularity.

Food: So-so. Nothing remarkable, nothing we disliked, although the dishes tended to be a bit on the rare side.

Service: Friendly and attentive.

Ambiance: Outdated.

Price: Overpriced.

For the money, there are better options. A remodel and/or relocation may really help this restaurant.

We've been going to Dorado for about 3 years now. It's definitely one of our favorite spots, and we're worried rumors of it closing down this December might be true. Say it aint' so Dorado! Move your location, you'll do superbly in a higher foot-traffic area (such as Lakeview, where we live!).

Regardless, you can't beat the Dorado Nachos, their mole sauce is to swoon over, no corkage fee (WHAT?!) and excellent, friendly and wonderful service.

A definite must visit time time and time again.

4/5 stars and 2 thumbs up! The food and service at Dorado were great!

Went there on Sunday. It's a cute little place. Casual and intimate. They don't have much for decor but it's still very charming.

Anywho, the food:

Appy: duck nachos. I'm convinced duck has a magical component. It makes everything tastes exponentially better unless anything else. You can actually make a meal out of the nachos. It's a big order.

Entree: I ordered the Carne Asada al Ajillo, medium rare of course. It comes with spicy green rice that was fluffy and good. The steak is served over a chipotle tomato sauce that it did not need at all. The sauce actually took away from the awesome flavor of the steak. My friend had the dover sole which I had a taste of. That was also good.

Dessert: Platanos Fritos. Caramel, plantains and ice cream. Diabetics, steer clear. This was super sweet but good and HUGE. All you need is a bite.

I really want to give Dorado a raving review, but unfortunately my experience did not live up to my expectation.

Having heard great things and possessing a Groupon, my and I visited Dorado. The atmosphere was comfortable and quiet, as I expected it would be on a Tuesday evening. Our server was very friendly and took good care of us. Now, for the food...

We started out with and order of black bean soup and roasted creamy corn soup. Both were delicious! For our main course we chose to share the Dorado Nachos and the Carne Asada Burrito. I'm sorry to rain on the hype parade, but the famous duck nachos tasted like a salt shaker spilled on them. My wife actually mentioned the same taste before I said anything, so I was not alone in the experience. The duck did have a rich smokey flavor, but it was almost too much. As for the burrito, the carne asada was cooked nicely. With that said, a $15 burrito should rock my world. It did not.

In the end, I do not believe Dorado to be a bad restaurant. I just think that the nachos failed, and the menu is a bit steeply priced for some items. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 for good service.

My boyfriend and I had two entrees and an appetizer. The appetizer was Ok, and one of the two entrees was pretty good, but the final entree was wonderful and we both loved it. Lots of other menu items sounded delicious so I think we will be going back again sometime in the future to check it out once more.

It's also BYOB, which always helps.

This place is great! The food and plating are great. The service is great. Parking is good. The only two things I will complain about are the price (which I expected going in) and the fact that there are not much French food in the menu. I am going back for my birthday so you know it's good. :)

After years and years hearing about the duck nachos, I FINALLY had the chance to try them. I will say, they lived up to the hype. I am a little disappointed to say, the rest of the meal did not. Don't get me wrong, the food is just fine, but that's it. Just fine. For the price point, I was hoping for much better.

I ordered the Pollo En Milaneza. I thought the serving size was small compared to the price (+20) and the chicken was a bit dry. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good though. My fiance ordered the Carne Asada Al Ajillo. I tried a bite and I liked it much more than mine. The meat was prepared as requested (medium rare) and it was very flavorful.

Overall, this was just an average experience. I would return if only for the nachos.

So sad that this place has gone down hill. Food was salty, not well prepared and the prices have increased at least 25% in the last year. To be more specific, the guacamole is prepared with a pre-mixed package of seasoning. The chips were stale. The fish was obviously frozen and my steak looked like it was a perfect, pre-formed square.
No longer authentic or worth the money. Try Los Nopales or Mixteco!

I've been to Durado three times in the past year and I can't really say anything bad about it. I've enjoyed going there each time, and the Durado Nachos have always been solid, and I'd recommend this to anyone going. Although, the entrees leave something to be desired in my opinion. For the price $20-$30+ for each entree I'm never really blown away. I feel like you can get a better value for your dollar by going elsewhere in the neighborhood. For instance, last night I got the Seafood Chiles Rellenos De Mariscos and it was... mediocre. The chiles were nicely grilled/roasted and quite tasty, with the heat of the peppers growing gradually as I made my way through the entree. I was surprised to see two large chiles as the portions are normally not as generous. The shrimp tasted fresh, but I had a hard time deciphering between the lobster and the scallops. The crab meat was shredded and didn't seem the most fresh, and it was all swimming in a cream/butter orange sauce. It was flavorful, but I feel that it was overpriced for what it was.

The carne asada burrito is delicious here, but for nearly $20 I feel that you can get a better value elsewhere in the neighborhood as well.

Two words of advice: The black bean soup and the Durado Nachos.

Everything else: Take it or leave it.

This place is friendly and the food is solid. Its one of my dad's favorites. I think b/c of the famous duck nachos. I don't eat duck so I don't know but it looks fabulous!
I usually get something like a tuna steak with wassabi mashed potatoes. Sometimes halibut or talipia.
My family and I have been here many times so I'm sure we'll be back many more.

I've been to Dorado a couple of times now and it does not disappoint. We've had the same waitress every time and she is amazing! She is very attentive and knowledgeable.

As many have said, the duck nachos are excellent! I've tried several of the fish entrees and they were all really good. My only complaint here is that the food is very expensive. Our bill was over $80 for two entrees and an appetizer. That seems like a lot considering they don't serve alcohol.

The food is so good though, it is worth a splurge once in a while.

Duck nachos are great, so is the service. Love all the food, especially the Dover sole, and salmon. Chocolate chimichangas are fantastic too.

Only problem was when we sat at the table closest to the kitchen, it was an inferno (only happened once, it was a hot day).

Still enjoyed the meal, although I was covered in sweat. I must have like it; been there 5 times since, and will be back again.

This was my second trip to Dorado. It's fantastic, really. The duck nachos are delicious and I had a perfectly cooked beef tenderloin. The service was attentive. I don't love that they have a corkage fee, but at $4.00 I'm not particularly offended.
Reservations are recommended on a Thurs-Sat, and they can accommodate a large party. I would absolutely recommend Dorado and will definitely return.

Dorado has a wonderful and intimate atmosphere that makes you want to hold hands while you eat. (Okay, that might be a bit much, but it is nice.)

Service was nice and prompt and we didn't have to wait too long for a table.
The food was delicious! We had the duck nachos, milanesa, and the carne asada. The milanesa was crusted with pistachio nuts and the mashed potatoes complimented the meat well.

Another great meal. This is so much more than another Mexican restaurant. Yes, it's Mexican but with a taste of French and then some. We started out with shrimp quesadilla and a tower chips and guacamole.
The jicama salad was a tasty start, then went for the ribeye special. Nice salsa on the steak, great meal.
Service was outstanding.

I have 2 words for you: Duck Nachos
I have 4 letters for you: BYOB

Its great that its BYOB, but I would have loved to throw a few margaritas down with those nachos.

The Duck Nachos were so good, that me and my two homies had 4 rounds of them (yeah, we over did it).

Nice setting and good service made the dining experience fun also. Definitely a go to spot!

Really a 4 1/2 star rating - I'm being conservative since my review is based on my first visit. Went here with my family - my brother and sister-in-law have been pretty enthusiastic about this place for awhile, so I was looking forward to it.

This was like going to a fine dining American restaurant that serves some of the usual entrees one would find in such a restaurant, BUT with hints of Mexico added. The appetizers we ordered were excellent - Queso Fundido, Salmon Quesadillas and their renown Duck Nachos. All were good and tasty.

Entree-wise, we all had some pretty typical "American" dishes - grilled pork tenderloin, roasted pork chops, dover sole and chicken milanese. But all had flavors and sauces of Mexico. And the mashed potatoes are fantastic!

Wonderful experience. Seating can be a little tight - it wasn't real busy when we were there, but I'm sure it's a tight fit in spots when the place is full. BYOB.

Yep, as usual I'm late to the party again... Hello Duck Nachos where have you been all my life!! Somehow I see myself doing drive-bys to eat these bad boys at home...

Snap shot to me shirtless in my bed laughing and or crying with duck nachos all over my face and below. Screaming DON'T LOOK AT ME!!

Whoa! Need to shake that off. So it looks like a hole in the wall. Which hole in the wall places can be great or they can be a downfall (snap shot... oh, I won't go there). Dorado seems to be a bit of both pending who you talk to. My date and I differed in opinion as to our dishes but both agreed we would come back (if not for the nachos alone). She loved her Tilapia dish, which had great flavor and the really impressive part was how much of it was there. Dorado doesn't skimp out when plating. I had the pistachio chicken, also massive. It was good but I've had better. I would get the dish again though. Service was a bit slow but it was only two people handling a full floor so I don't blame them.

Add a bit of BYOB and I'll be back... see you soon my precious duck nachos, see you soon.

I kept getting drawn to the reviews about the smoked duck nachos. Could they really be that addictive and amazing?!? Oh my, YES!!

We decided to grab some grub on Sunday and were in for some culinary surprises. The smoked duck nachos are sublime! The richness of the smoked duck paired with the black beans, sprinkling of cheese and drizzling of a cream sauce, and crispiness of the tortilla chips was a party in my mouth! I would have no problem polishing off entire plate for dinner, lunch, or possibly breakfast! Moving onto the tilapia dish: the piece of fish was huge and the mango salsa was refreshing, while the citrus beurre blanc sauce was balanced the spicy fish perfectly. The black bean cake was alright, but not needed. The fish kept me happy as a clam! Nick ordered the pistachio chicken. Again, the piece of meat was huge and yummy.

Besides the great food, it is BYOB with $2 per person corkage fee. Nice!

So glad that this place is a 10 minute drive from home...Now I know I can gorge on the duck nachos whenever my heart desires!

Third time here, but it's been probably a year since the last. The duck nachos are even better than I remember. Do not come here without ordering them, it's an absolute must and you won't regret it.

The skirt steak was excellent. It served over a chili sauce that just pops with the steak. Paired with their spicy rice, it really was phenomenal.

And, BYO is obviously great.

I had been wanting to go to Dorado for around 2 years. My wife just wasn't interested. So recently, after a long day of work and no energy left to cook, I pitched Dorado again. What do you know? She said yes! And we're both glad she did. We brought a bottle of Coppola Zinfandel with us to take advantage of the BYOB and the inexpensive $2 per person corkage fee.
We started with the Dorado nachos. Truly delicious with the smoked duck.
For an entree, I had the colossal shrimp stuffed with crab meat. It was extremely tasty and well presented.
Service was quick and pleasant.
If you haven't been to Dorado yet, give it a try. I know I'll be back.

The saying you can't judge a book by its cover would apply to Dorado. From the outside, it looks like a tiny dark restaurant, I assumed it would be more of a hole in the wall type restaurant since I had not looked at the menu and I didn't know where we were going to be going for dinner. I was surprised when I walked in to the restaurant quite spacious and actually had quite a few tables in there for a Wednesday night. Dorado is BYOB which is great! It is a $2 cork fee per person but its not terrible. Our service was a little slow, our waitress was very nice and accomodating but she never really came around and we pretty much had to stare her down to get her attention.

We started with the duck nachos and crab cakes. Although the nachos is the famous appetizer there, we found it to be a little dry. It is pretty much smoked duck and cheese...which don't get me wrong, any meat smothered in cheese is right up my alley...but without any sauce, its just a little hard to choke down. We had to ask for a side of salsa so we would have a little something to help with the nachos. We loved the crab cakes. The crab cakes were set on top of a pureed salsa and guacamole. That was the star appetizer to me!

Then came my favorite part of the meal..I had ordered the almond crusted trout. Everything about this dish was delicious! It came out piping hot (which is very important to me) and there were two long filets of trout over pearl cous cous and this amazing coconut sauce. I know it sounds a little weird right, but it was so tasty! And there were several carmelized plantains that came along with the fish too. Those did not stand a chance against me!

We were too stuffed to have dessert but it looked really good.

The prices are a little steep. The lowest entree was prob about the $23 mark...which for this restaurant, given the location and the fact that is seems to be in the middle of nowwhere, I was just a little surprised to see how steep the prices were for an average entree. We did find a coupon on http://restaurants.com so our final tab ended up being very reasonable.

All in all, for the trout I would come back! I am already looking forward to my leftovers..and just wish I had not devoured all of the plaintains.

Absolutely splendid...from the food to the service everything was top notch. My husband and I went on a suggestion from a friend whose jaw dropped when we told her we had not been! And to our surprise...in the hood at Foster and Western....excellent. If you are like us, we try to avoid a hefty or noisy crowd....especially on a Friday night. And despite the table of loud, loud obnoxious girls, we had a marvelous time due to the food and the service.

I did not catch the server's name, but she was friendly, funny, and patient. Big props to her! She made the whole experience delightful. I couldn't help but notice the other servers around us interacting with their guests and everyone seemed genuine and very friendly. There was a good vibe about the place.

The food was hearty, satisfying, and flavorful. The Duck Nachos are the app to order and they stand up to their excellent reviews. Crispy tortilla chips smothered in smoked duck, melted chihuahua cheese, jalapeno cream sauce, and Bermuda onions. Savory, belly filling goodness! Chile Rellenos De Marsicos which included a conglomerate of yummy sea foods including lobster, shrimp, crab meat and so on. Also very tasty!

The prices are on the higher side averaging around 22 dollars a plate, but I didn't mind because I felt a lot of care went into the food and the service. That's really I could ask for in a dining experience.

Duck nachos and a $40 Amazon Local certificate got my wife and I to give Dorado a chance. Most importantly, we were able to get a table on a Friday night by calling for a reservation when they opened at 5pm.

I can't count how many times I've passed by this place to never think twice about going. Thanks to my Yelp app on my phone I can look up places right away.

Dorado is a really nice little restaurant with parking in the back. A low light ambiance makes this place a good spot for a date or a night out with your significant other....except when there's a table of 8 young ladies a bit toasty, talking and laughing extremely loud. Everyone was staring at their table each time they bursted out laughing, but, they didn't get the message. I'm all for having a good time, especially on a Friday night after work with the ladies (or the gents) but c'mon, couldya take it down from a few notches? Unfortunately, this party made our dinner less enjoyable and we ate faster than usual. However, this will not deter me from coming back, I will just pick a weekday instead.

The food and the service were absolutely excellent. The duck nachos lived up to the hype with refried black beans, chihuahua cheese, onions, lime cream sauce and nice chunks of duck. I'm so used to chicken nachos, and here, some genius decided to slather chunks of duck on chips, beans, jalapenos (fresh and hot ass jalapenos, I might add) and cheese. Genius, really. And for $10, you get a nice portion.

On special that night was a grilled calamari salad with balsamic dressing that was outstanding. Four big pieces of perfectly grilled calamari over a bed of mixed greens and asparagus. Yessir! I'm still thinking of this salad and for $7.50, it was a steal.

The other entree we ordered was the Chiles Rellenos de Mariscos. This was one of the finer mexican inspired entrees I've ever had. Two grilled and somewhat stuffed green peppers covered in this lobster shrimp emulsion with diver sea scallops, shrimp and crab meat, with green rice on the side. The emulsion was so tasty and creamy that I nearly licked the plate. The shrimp were big and excellent (wish there was more than 3, though), small but enjoyable scallops (wish they were bigger) and crab meat, which I didn't see much of (might have been small pieces that I didn't see). Also, on the side were some mixed veggies of mushrooms and squash, which was nice. A really outstanding dish but for $23, I think a tad overpriced based on the amount of shrimp and the size of the scallops. However, the taste and freshness is hard to deny.

Dislikes: $5 sharing charge and $2/person corkage fee (since it's BYOB). To avoid the sharing charge just order the nachos as an entree since we split this and the Chiles Rellenos de Mariscos we were good to go. As for the corkage fee, I know a lot of BYOB places charge this but i haven't seen any mention this in a while. $2 for the table seems fair but per person is a bit extreme. I'd consider scaling this charge back if I owned the place, but this is also why I don't own a restaurant. Oh, and no limes. We brought Coronas and asked if we could have a few slices of lime. We were told they don't have any. Riiiiiggghhhttt. A Mexican restaurant with no limes, and ya serve guacamole? This is the second time (out of 3, all different spots) this has happened at a Mexican restaurant so I think we'll have to bring a lime next time. I just hope they can give us a sharp knife to cut them!

Despite the dislikes (as minor as they are), I am certainly looking forward to coming back here again for some nachos, another entree or two and maybe some tres leches cake!

It had been a solid 3 years since I had been to Dorado but the memory of the duck nachos was still burned into my brain. It was time to get reacquainted with this little eatery nestled in Lincoln Square.

I am happy to report that Dorado is still solid after my 3 (or 4) year hiatus. My gal pal Deb and I had been hyping ourselves up about those damn duck nachos for a good week. When they arrived at our table we could hardly contain ourselves. The only slight criticism I have is that I would have liked a little more of the lime crema drizzled over those bad boys but the duck was divine and I'm pretty sure I could have polished off a plate of those delicious suckers by myself. Lauren ordered up some queso fundido. Cheese, chorizo, poblanos, soft warm tortillas - what's not to like?

Next up were our entrees. You didn't think we just ended our night after the duck nachos, did you? Psssh, yea right! Earlier that evening I made a little stop at the Rivers Casino to kick off the Labor Day weekend. Lady luck was looking out for me that night as I made my way to the Dirty Dancing slot machine. I walked outta there $21.50 richer! Who's the big winner? This girl! I took my winnings and ordered up one of the specials of the evening - portobello topped filet over chipotle mashed potatoes which was finished with a brandy cherry sauce. It was cooked to perfection. The sauce was SO tasty and the portion was humungo.

The ladies also ordered up some tasty offerings. The grilled tilapia served over green rice with asparagus & mango salsa for Lauren and the chile rellenos de mariscos for Deb. I had a bite of Deb's dish...something I definitely consider ordering on my next visit. We rounded out our meal with dessert. That's right, we ordered dessert bitches. There's no shame in our game.

Lauren's chocolate chimichangas were DELISH. Deb ordered the tres leches cake which was still as good as I had remembered. My pecan bread pudding was rather disappointing. The bread pudding part was OK but it was swimming in a sea of caramel sauce and it was much too sweet for me.

Some other tidbits worth mentioning: BYOB and a private lot for parking! I will not wait so long to venture back to Dorado....I still want my own order of duck nachos. Quack!

I obsess over food. Don't we all? I mean, we ARE Yelpers, yes? And I would like to personally thank Yelper Extraordinaire Joanne W in particular for causing me to obsess for days over these two simple words: Duck Nachos.

When Joanne suggested Dorado for dinner recently, I could not believe this place was in my 'hood and I had never heard of it let alone dined there. Plus, Mexican/French fusion cuisine? Say what? As I love all foods Mexican (thanks, Rick) and all foods French (thanks, Julia), I was game and off we went.

Appetizers: we struggled with whether or not to get the duck nachos or not - Oh SHUT UP - of COURSE we got the nachos and they were divine. Topped with smoked duck, melted Chihuahua cheese, Bermuda onions guacamole, pickled jalapenos, and a lime cream sauce, I would have singlehandedly mudwrestled both Joanne AND our other dining companion Lauren for them. In fact, next time, I get my own order, ladies.

Lauren ordered the Queso Fundido con Chorizo (melted Mexican cheese with chorizo, and sliced Poblano peppers) - a basic staple on all Mexican restaurants menus. Good but nothing distinctive.

Entrees: I ordered the Chiles Rellenos de Mariscos - w/ shrimp, crab meat, Diver sea scallops, green rice and lobster shrimp emulsion. Whoa. Deeeelicious! The creamy emulsion was so flavorful - not too rich or heavy.

Lauren ordered the Grilled Tilapia Ala Diabla - served over green rice, w/ grilled asparagus, fresh mango salsa and citrus beurre blanc. Very light and the mango salsa adds a wonderfully sweet flavor.

Joanne ordered a daily special entree which was huge, gorgeous and one I nearly ordered myself - a beef filet w/ a portabello mushroom on top served over chipotle mashed potatoes with a brandy cherry sauce. Talk about melt in your mouth!

The portions are very large, but did that stop us from ordering dessert? Hell, no!

I had the Tres Leches, a traditional Mexican dessert - sponge cake soaked and prepared with a mixture of milk. Good, but I would have rather had Lauren's dessert - chocolate chimichangas w/vanilla ice cream and Mexican chocolate. Seriously - get these! I didn't because I thought they sounded hokey - I made a serious error in judgment.

Joanne had the Pecan Bread Pudding which none of us cared for. The bread pudding itself was good - they just need to tone down the caramel sauce (WAYYY too sweet) and the amount (the pudding was swimming in it).

Huge plus for having a parking lot in the back.

Dorado, I loved you and will be back, but PLEASE get better coffee. It was terrible. I so wanted a good strong coffee (think Metropolis or Intelligentsia) with that Tres Leches cake and what I got was weak and tasteless. Otherwise, a perfect meal!

$16 for a vegetarian burrito.
That alone is good for losing a star.

But it's $8 for the crab cake which was excellent.
The two soups vary wildly - the black bean soup was basically black bean puree, while the corn w/crab was fantastic; both $7.

The chipotle mashed potatoes were very tasty. The mixed veggies were good, and the mole sauce was flavorful.
But it was $30 for a steak. I ordered medium, came out rare rare rare in the middle, but caramelized outside (sign of an ice cold steak thrown on a hot grill). Sent it back, came back like leather.

I have a policy: when you're charging more than $20 for a steak, you're not allowed to screw it up.
But they did.

If money is no object I suppose this is a place to go. If you're concerned about value, I'd keep looking.

I went here last night for a Grubwithus meal and it was outstanding. They gave us an insane amount of food and it was all good. We had:

For starters~
Dorado Nachos (Dorado's famous nachos, topped with smoked duck, melted Chihuahua cheese, Bermuda onions guacamole, pickled jalapenos, and a lime cream sauce.)

Queso Fundido con Chorizo (Melted Mexican cheese with chorizo, and sliced Poblano peppers.)

Croquetas da Cangrejo (Crabcakes over fresh guacamole and smoked chipotle tomato sauce.)

For entrees:
Grilled Pork Tenderloin con Camote Picante (An off-the-menu special dish for our Grubbers!)

Crab Meat Crusted Atlantic Salmon (Served over chipotle, fresh basil, tomatoes, capers, and Citrus Beurre Blanc.)

Chiles Rellenos de Mariscos (With shrimp, Diver sea scallops, crab meat, and lobster shrimp emulsion.)

For sides: Mashed Potatoes & Green Rice

For dessert:
Plantanos Fritos (Caramelized plantains, deglazed with Armaretto, served with vanilla ice cream, and drizzled with caramel sauce.)

Everything was so wonderful. I'm ready to go back, once I finish digesting. The company was great too! I would highly recommend this place. BYOB is great!
