Get thechicken Pad See Ew. Drum does it a bit
different than you may be use to. They use very tiny little noodles
instead of the thick kind commonly used. I am hooked on this take
on the dish. I also get the thai fried rice which is amazing. The thai tea is $1.50 here which is almost to cheap because it is addictive. For the price of about $6.50 a dish this is my favorite thai place around Lane County.

Got there at 6:55, made it known we were at the window and then waited for him to open the window.  He 'greeted' us at 6:59 and rudely told us he was closed.  I asked if he closed at 7 and he said he decided to close early.  When I told him I'd driven from across town he handed me a menu, pointed to a phone number and told me to call ahead next time.

I ate here with some friends a couple times a month but never again.  Completely in disbelief.

The second star is awarded for the fried rice, which is the only thing you should order here.  It's decent, but ridiculously expensive for a tiny portion.

I don't understand the insistence that Eugene has great Thai.  No, Thai food in Eugene is better than all the other Asian options.  It's not great.  It's not even good.

Drum Rong Thai adds that extra Eugene sparkle of unbelievably bad customer service to food that ranges from lackluster to vaguely gross.  I've given this place a lot of chances, but I'm going to let another establishment aggravate me in the future.

I love Thai food, but I am not Thai and have never been to Thailand, so I cannot comment on the authenticity of this food cart, however I can comment on how great I think it tastes. For 6.50 you get a meal that is roughly 2/3 the size of a restaurant portion, but as those are ridiculously huge anyway and usually at least 4 dollars more, I am quite content with Drum Rong's sizing and price.

I have been here about 4 or 5 times, and the quality has been consistently good. I have ordered the Pad Thai, Green Curry and Pad Prik King, and they have all been great. My boyfriend got the Chili Sweet Basil and loved it, and he is a little on the picky side. It should be noted that my dishes all were with tofu and his was meat, and we each enjoyed ours, so it can be assumed they do both omni and vegetarian dishes well.

Service is quick and friendly, there is seating, though I usually take my food to go, and I appreciate that you can choose your protein with all the dishes. I love the food and will continue to frequent this cart!

I just love this cart! The lady who runs it is so sweet. The "to go" boxes are always FULL! The food is hot and FRESH... I don't even know what some of the veggies are, but they are delicious! I ordered the Pad Thai for my son and he LOVED it... I always get the Pad Kee Mao (spelling???) w shrimp.. she puts plenty of shrimp on the plate and they are nice sized, as well! Lots of fresh basil... I order mine spicy and it is just right... not too hot!

I love spending my hard earned $$$ here... fresh food... great value!

I have to update my review to commend the consistent quality of the regular dishes I order from Drum Rong. Occasionally, I will branch out and try another dish, or a special they are running. Recently, I had the Pad Kee Mao, commonly referred to as Drunken Noodles. It was terrific. I actually was compelled to order a second dish even though I realized after a couple bites into it, I would be stuffed.
I will say there was a glass noodle special we had recently that oddly came with a scoop of white rice. It seemed odd to have this starch on starch action in a dish that cost a dollar more than standard. I think this experience would make me more weary next time of delving into something completely new. Or at least get more info on it.
Drum Rong Thai's Thai Tea is delicious too. I've had it with dairy and with coconut milk. Both are refreshingly complimentary to the great food.

This place is amazing. For a town with few Thai restaurants and even fewer GOOD Thai restaurants, these guys were a very welcome addition. Their food is not only delicious and cooked to order, but the ingredients are fresh and they are very accommodating to requests to deviate from the menu. My only complaint would be that no matter how many times I ask them to make it authentically Thai spicy, I still only get Americanized Thai spicy.

Good stuff.   Cheap and quick, as you'd expect from a food cart.

I've eaten from here a few times over the last year or so and haven't been disappointed.  Noodle dishes and curries are both nice.  When a dish is ordered 'extra hot' it is actually spicy, which cannot be said for all of the Thai places in town.

You'll probably be smart enough to realize this the first time you see this place, but the way to go is definitely to order it to-go and eat it at home, in your car, in the park, pretty much anywhere but the awful concrete island in a terrible location that it is in.  I'm not really going to deduct anything for the location, since I always take out from here, if anything it's a good use of an otherwise worthless space.   If you are going on a first date, out with your parents, or otherwise want to be comfortable while eating out, go across the street to Chao Pra Ya.

My take: This cart's price is commiserate with the quality of the food. It's cheap/fast thai food! Of course, in larger cities, you can get better cheap/fast thai, but this is Eugene afterall. I prefer some other Eugene thai places to the cart, but it will do in a pinch, or if you're not wanting to drop a bunch of money on your dinner. I don't really care for the dishes with ground meat.

Very tasty food, had the chili sweet basil dish. I would recommend it as a side. Next time I will get the pad Thai. It is a smokin good deal for 6.50

I am utterly baffled by the bad reviews here. I eat here once or twice a week. I have for a year. Never had a bad experience. The staff is great. Super friendly. The food is the best Thai food in Eugene, hands down. My sweetie, who used to run one of the finer restaurants in Eugene, agrees with me that this is one of the best restaurants in town. The ingredients are always fresh, the spices just perfect, and the kitchen kept sparkling clean.

The food is an absolute bargain too. Most dishes are $6.50. My faves:

    --Chili Sweet Basil
    --Red Curry
    --Pad Thai

I've eaten all over the world and have no reservations saying this is a 5-star street cart. Don't believe the nay-sayers.

This place made me sick, literally. Not just once, but twice. Not just me either, two other people, both times.

Stopped by today to give this cart a try. Have seen it before but never got the chance to stop till today. I explained to them that I like everything on the menu but could not make up my mind. I asked them to provide what they felt was their best dish. I ended up with a plate of Pad See Ew with pork and a Thai iced tea. Total cost: $8.00.

The service was friendly and the food was cooked promptly. I am sad to report that it was not anything worth stopping for. The flavors were average and the meal as a whole was pedestrian. I agree with another review that it appears they are using MSG to boost the flavor and this is truly a disservice to anything called street food. Given that street food is the cuisine I am most passionate about (especially when traveling) I walked away disappointed. I would pass on coming here again in favor of some other options.

Parking can be a bit difficult given the location of the cart but if you don't mind a short walk it can be found in the surrounding blocks.

What a disappointment!  Runny Green Curry....which was extremely hot for a so called mild dish.  Rice had a faint bleach taste to it.  Not good and will not go back.

First off, I have to say that I LOVE their cart decor and they have the best music playing in the courtyard!! I was pretty stoked to try it for the first time recently but unfortunately, I was disappointed.

We both ordered Pad Thai so I can't speak for anything else in this post. They give you a generous helping for sure and it was very cheap, which is great, but it was kind of dry and bland in flavor, which brings me to my next comment.

That particular day I had a hang over and when I got a headache after dinner I naturally assumed that was the reason. However, the next morning when I had my left overs for breakfast I got another headache. My only deduction is that they are using MSG in an attempt to pump up the flavor volume.

Bad Call!! For that reason alone, I wont go back. Change it up Drum Rong!!!! Use real flavors instead and you will have a regular customer in me :o)

Edit: Ok... for the sake of fairness, and the fact that my boyfriend doesn't think so, I will try them again..... I'll keep you posted.

This vibrantly colorful food cart is parked at one of the best spots in town. Situated on a pie-shaped piece of property along one of Eugene's busiest East-West thoroughfares at 6th and Blair, it's pretty hard to miss!

Drumrongthai is owned and operated by two of the most charming people you'll ever meet. Chef A, and his sister O, (yes, these are their names!) serve up delicious Thai cuisine in a spirit and atmosphere of pure joy. Their friendly, smiling faces immediately make you feel very much at home in their little corner of the world.

Smack dab in the middle of this very busy street, Drumrongthai succeeds in creating its own unique ambiance with intoxicating sounds of classical Indian music playing and the romance of hanging flower planters, and water bowls filled with leaves and fallen flower petals placed on tables and fence posts.

There are sixteen items currently on the menu, which is quite a wide variety for a little food cart. Chef A was careful to guide me to those dishes that can be prepared vegan. And he said that he plans to soon make his own chili sauce free of shrimp paste, so that he can offer a vegan option on most, if not all of his dishes. He also plans to expand the current menu to include tempeh dishes and a variety of curry specials.

O offered me a Thai iced tea made with coconut milk, instead of dairy. It had just the right amount of sugar, and was brewed to perfection. (Sometimes Thai iced tea can be too strong or overly-sweet.)

My first time there, I ordered Pad Thai, but without the egg. I also asked A to leave out the crushed peanut, as for some reason, it never seems to heighten my enjoyment of this dish. Knowing that there are as many ways to prepare Pad Thai as there are Thai chefs, I couldn't wait to taste Chef A's take on Pad Thai, and I was not disappointed. This dish was delicious! Packed neatly in a small to-go box,  the noodles were bathed in a tasty "tamarindy" sauce and laced with tiny slices of delicately fried tofu. I was pretty impressed with the portion size, too. It was nice to feel satisfied for $6.50.

I couldn't wait to return and try something else. Th next time I ordered the Sweet and Sour with tofu, and was treated to a dish that was as vibrantly colorful as the cart itself, and as tasty as any Sweet and Sour I've eaten anywhere.

If you're in Eugene, run, don't walk to Drumrongthai. This is not only what street food is supposed to be, it's what Thai food should always be: delicately spiced, fresh, and delicious.

The food here is not good.

My noodles were downright slimy, and the egg was cooked to death.  Each shrimp was undercooked and one still had a vein in it - ew.  I ordered it medium spicy, but it came out barely approaching mild.  Needless to say, I didn't finish even half of my lunch.

Even worse than the food is the location and appearance.

Oddly just sixty feet from the very tasty Chao Pra Ya, this cart is parked on a concrete island floating in a sea of traffic.  The sun beats down mercilessly.

They've constructed a picket fence around the perimeter that's painted bright blue and has silver and gold plates nailed to it for some reason.  There's also an overhang and deck painted bright red and a little bright green astroturf.  The converted RV itself is splashed in great swaths of bright paints and the tires are spray-painted silver.  Are you noticing a theme here?  If that weren't enough, there's a string of large party lights, a pink and purple fuscia and a disco ball overhead that spits out bright rays of color.

If I'd stayed to eat my meal at one of the picnic tables - the sun stabbing me in the head, cars whizzing by on three sides, a clock/radio pumping out bad house music loudly while I stared at a cart that looks like someone barfed up her magic mushrooms - I'd surely have developed one mother of a headache.

Maybe it's authentic, maybe vendors in Thailand tart up their carts to look like child prostitutes rolled in Skittles.  I don't know.  I just know this is one of the worst eating experiences I've had.
