Crabcakes were rather small but still delicious. Drinks service was very prompt. I seem to remember there being some kind of mixup with the bathroom signs, where the men were trying to get into the women's room or vice versa. I didn't understand the joke.  Ultimately, this place wins on location and you will like the space if you can get at a table.

we had to drive to Mizner Park in Boca to get to a decent pub like this; but now that they've come to Fort Lauderdale, we'll be there every night. I can;t decide which one is better-but for drinking, and eating pub food there;s none better.

Thrilled to find a restaurant on 2nd Street with great service at the right prices.  I've been there twice so far, once for happy hour and once for dinner, enjoyed completely positive experiences and look forward to returning.  The delicious food , wonderful variety of beers and friendly staff are sure to make this place a success.

Outdoor tables perfect for 2nd Street people watching, a comfy indoor dining room, plus a separate large bar area with many bar stools & high tops. (This was the old Himmarshee Bar & Grill). Chicken Wings to die for (in a guinness sweet marinade), exquisite Prince Edward tender mussels in a broth just made for dipping bread, corned beef moist & delicious and a yummy Shepard's Pie. Portions are ample and perfect for sharing.  Wait staff attentive, friendly and knowledgable. We've been there 3 times in the last month and the food and service have been consistent.
Choices galore for going solo, a small group or a large group.
Our new favorite place!! So much fun! You will not be disappointed!
Check out their Happy Hour from 4-7 pm.

If memory serves me right this has been two other restaurants but stands a better chance of survival as the prices are reasonable (which can't be said for most of the restaurants in the area), the help is great with everyone, including managers and hostess, working together with servers and runners, to make the customer happy-- which is a rare thing in the restaurant business.
Going to the Broward Performing Arts Center for theatre we are always looking for a place to eat and Rok Burger was starting to get tiring and with OB having the rudest owner ever  even they had stayed open for dinner we wouldn't go there anymore!
In any case except for the pictures hanging (and you can drive everyone who works there crazy by asking them to name some of the portraits hanging up--we did! LOL) on the walls and the upstairs the place isn't an easy room to change. Whether by design or not parties of two get a double table which is so much better than sitting on top of strangers.
Our server Stephy, though busy, was always with a smile and letting us know she was there to get whatever we wanted. Also, as only a smart server knows to do, she wanted to get our order in before she took and placed the order for a party of 8 that was seated just before us. After asking a couple of people who worked there what they would suggest Allen took the Beef Brisket ($15.50) with an iced tea ($2.50)--we are not alcohol drinkers--and I had the Shepard's Pie ($16.00) and coffee ($2.50)  made with beef and lamb.
I am not familiar with the dish which is why I ordered it. The Pie was served in a skillet, very hot and with a layer of cheese on top which surprised me. (When I got home I did a little research and found out that there are many variations of this dish. Though I enjoyed it next time I will ask for them to eliminate the cheese, hoping the chef won't come out and stab me! The cheese made it too greasy but, though having to wait for it to cool off a bit or burning my tongue, I did enjoy it.
Allen said his brisket was tender and we both agreed the staff was hard working and doing their best to please everyone.
It looks like we have finally found a reasonably priced restaurant in the Arts area with a very varied menu ranging from entrees, sandwiches, salads and a wide variety of appetizers, but most important a great staff,

Being a Boston boy, and living in Miami I'm always looking for my go-to Irish pub. I've tried just about all of them in Miami and most of them have mediocre food, which I can deal with. What I can't deal with is Guiness which doesn't taste like the milk of the gods. If the lines aren't clean, the nitrogen not mixed right, the storage of the beer not environmentally ideal, or even the glasses not cleaned quite right you will get many flavors in the beer which are just not good. Typically its a tinny taste, and a lack of creamy smoothness. I have to admit that this is the best Guiness I've had in southern Florida.

I might have to come back for food, but the Guiness was perfect, kudos to you guys!

This place is located where the old PL8/Side Bar was in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Now, Ireland isn't necessarily praised for its food, but the restaurant does offer some tasty items.  The weather allowed us to sit outside.  I opted for a classic Irish staple: shepherds pie. It was delish... it had a very homemade feel, with the mash potatoes being made with real potatoes (not the instant flakes).  Pair that with a large selection of beers on tap... it made for a great dinner.

What made this place AWESOME in my book was how DOG FRIENDLY they are. Not only do they bring out water bowls, when we visited with our 75lb dobie they offered us a plateful of poached chicken! Not dog biscuits... but real chicken!!  Apparently the chef makes his own chicken stock and is a big dog lover. Needless to say, this is our pup's favorite restaurant in town!

It's decent what they've done with this formerly known as Himmarshee Grill/ PL8 Kitchen and the infamous Sidebar. Now it's the Dubliner, an Irish pub with live music. A reggae/alt rock band (similar to Sublime) was playing downstairs. We went upstairs to chill. I've always liked the upstairs at this venue, which includes a less-crowded, smaller bar and an outside patio.

Most of the beers on tap were your typical Irish Pub beers like Smithwicks, Bass, Murphy's, Harp, etc but I was happy to see they had Cigar City Maduro Brown on tap. My wife enjoyed a Magner's cider, which they also had on tap. Drink prices are a tad high but it's downtown FTL, so that's not a surprise.

We ended up ordering some food as well, the roast beef sliders with worchester sauce and some steak fries. The sliders were OK and  the fries were really good, but that's shouldn't be hard to mess up. All in all, it's an improvement over Sidebar as far as a place to hang out downtown and not a bad place to stop in for a drink downtown.

You gotta love when a new pub pops up!
The service here was AWESOME, the waitress was on point all night long. I had to mention this first because this usually isn't the case at most places. The location is awesome for going with a group of friends or having a intimate date. The menu you have is the classic pub fare you would find at other Irish eateries. We started out with the Salmon fish dip which was REALLY good! It came with crackers and veggies and really stood out from other dips I have had before. I also got a chance to try the potato leek soup, which was the only thing I wasn't super crazy about . It lacked flavor and some good crackers to go with it. The last thing I got to try was the fish and chips. They were AWESOME. A generous portion of fish and thick cut fries made my my trip here completely worth it. Overall, the beer was cold and the portions were large. What more could you ask for?!

We decided to check out the Dubliner for girls night and I have to say i'm torn.

First off who decided to put ANOTHER Irish bar at that intersection? On that corner you  now have 3 Irish bars. A tad bit excessive don't you think?!?!

Well onto review of the food and service. I would have to say the service stunk. The waitress seemed nice but she was the farthest away from helpful. It took forever to even receive our water and even longer to get out drinks. She was all over the place and came back multiple times asking what we ordered. It really was a miracle that she got it right! I truly hope it was her first day because if it wasn't I would be worried.

On to the food, it was ok. Not great but not awful either. I ordered corned beef and cabbage. The cabbage was super tasty. My friends ordered the stuffed chicken breast and salmon (both of them said it was very tasty) but my other friend ordered the spinach and kale salad. She wasn't all that impressed. Apparently the chicken was overcooked and the salad was bland.

I wish we could have stayed longer though because they started setting up acoustic music, would have been nice to see.

All in all I probably would go back in like six months to see if there service picked up. Give it another chance.

Had a Groupon for Dubliner, so decided to check it out SE 2nd Street's newest eatery/nightspot.  The food was just fine, but wasn't necessarily the best pub food I ever ate.  We started with the Mini Mac n' Cheese, supposedly made with Guinness, although how can you really tell.  It was creamy and the melted cheese on top was definitely the best part.

I then had the Shepherd's Pie, which I liked, but didn't expect the tomato sauce-y liquid it was cooked in.  Both the Mac and Pie were served in cast iron skillets of various sizes, making the food VERY hot.  My husband had the Bangers and Mash.  He thought the side of cabbage with bacon was the best thing on the plate, while the bangers were just ok.

I decided to give Dubliner 4 stars because the staff was friendly and we had a good time continuing the night there for our friend's birthday party.  They had a live band that did three sets, which was great.  We also really enjoyed spending time in the upstairs "Library" (i.e. bar) which had views of the stage on one side and a balcony overlooking the street on the other.  Sitting in the easy chairs and having a pint was a nice oasis from the usual crazy on the street below.

After seeing Himmarshee/Sidebar and Pl8/Sidebar close their doors, we'll see if Dubliner can sustain itself for the long haul.

Been there twice in the last week.  The plcae is beautifully furnished and blows away the former Plt8.  Outstanding happy hour!  Great food and atmosphere.

Came upon this place on another stroll down Himmarshee, and was pleasently surprised w/ the Dubliner. The bar has a real Irish pub feel to it, and the decorations and leather bar were as cool as i've seen in a while. The whiskey selection is about a complete as i've seen here in the states. The food was equally as impressive, i had an Irish Dip w/ horseradish cream that was awesome in every way. The music was a little annoying, ehich was the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and it's hard to believe that this place has only been in business for 1 month. I highly recommend thsi place to a weary traveler like myself!

Good food, decent service, great people watching location.

Typical stateside "Irish Pub" atmosphere, as in nothing like the pubs we have visited in Ireland. Can't deduct stars for that though because we knew this going in.

We sat outside on the sidewalk and loved the people watching, there are 4-5 restaurants located right there so there was plenty to observe.

I had the salmon and the waitress allowed me to substitute the mashed potatoes with more veggies. Salmon was great and the veggies were excellent.

My wife had the shepherds pie and loved it. I had a bite and thought it was excellent but have to say Briny's in Pampano is better.

We will definitely be back, they did just enough right to warrant another visit...which isn't easy with all of the competition in Ft Lauderdale.

First time to the Dubliner in ftl. Great experience. Started Mac and cheese, super creamy and Very tasteful. Had the fish sliders too, pretty tasty. For the main dishes my friend and i had the crabcakes and Shepards pie. Shepards pie was awesome definitely recommend it. Crabcakes were good but have had better. Service was awesome, managers were extremely attentive, and they are pet friendly and the manager even offered my friends dog fresh boiled chicken. All in all a great experience, a great addition to ft Lauderdale.

I visited The Dubliner in downtown Fort Lauderdale last week.  It was a wonderful experience.  The servers couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful.  The food was delicious.  I particularly liked the sliders.    I had corned beef, pork and fish sliders.  The fish slider is as good as any type slider i have ever had.  I must mention that the service was exceptional.  i was asking our waitress if she had blue cheese olives for my martini.  The bartender overheard our conversation and said that he would make them specially for me.  That type of service and consideration will go a long way toward making this new restaurant a success.  I know I will be back soon.

Dubliner, in the former location of what was PL8 Kitchen is yet another shot at being an Irish pub and restaurant in a town and area fairly well populated with them. What sets it apart from the nearby others is that it has a rather complete menu with some decent food offerings.

I opted for the steamed mussels which came in an iron pot perfectly done and with a rather superb broth. I also had half their half Reuben sandwich along with a chopped salad. The Reuben had plenty of meat, was tasty and served on a particularly nice bread. The chopped salad was not only tasty but interesting in that it came with a good number of walnuts added into it.

They not only have a decent selection of whiskeys but also of beer and ales, however, you might know that they were out of the ales I went there to have......so much for going out of my way to put up with that in the future.

Though they have Irish music, various Irish pictures including a huge life size Oscar Wilde, two bars, an upstairs Irish library, high table seating in the one bar and sit down table seating in another bar and dining area plus an some really good seating out on the sidewalk where you can enjoy people watching along the main part of the Himmarshee District.

Out of the number of  neighborhood Irish pubs, I'd say Dubliner is the best bet when it comes to food. I could almost go Four Stars but I can't say that I'm a fan of the place basically because the staff seems to enjoy goofing around with the music, turning it up, then turning way way up, turning down, changing music in midstream then changing speakers from front to rear and generally fooling around in what I found to be the most annoying of ways. It might not bother you much in the evening or when they have entertainment. Maybe they'll then have better things to do but it's something you wouldn't want to put up with during a lunch, especially a business or conversational luncheon. I had to get up and move tables because of it, but when I located in a quieter area, they'd seemingly for no reason, unless intentionally to harass me, switched speakers from rear to front ending me up with the same problem I had just escaped from. Though friendly and polite, the staff seems to be anything but an orderly well organized group keeping the business as their main concern.

By the way, there are a few Five Star no friends first timer reviewers I see about Dubliner which appear to me to be about as phony as they can get. For example one even says that he hasn't seen an Irish Pub like this since he left Cork. Really now!??! Isn't that just a little too much?

wandering around DT FTL night before St Patricks Day, night before Dubliners Grand Opening Party.
the doors are open, the smell is new, the beers cold, the staff fresh.
located inside the old Side Bar, it was spruced up nice with a fresh coat of paint and a slightly new look.
The restaurant next door which will serve irish and normal pub fair, it looked very nice.
happy to see this spot filled with one of my favorite boca spots.
