Great venue. It's dim without being dark. You can see others without it being bright. It draws a natural classyness out of you. Makes you want to be hip. I could definitely sit (or more likely stand- not many seats) here for a long time.
The Venue is has two main rooms, allowing those who want to talk tobe isolated from those who came to hear the music. Awesome.
Yes, the drinks are expensive. But this is a legit MUSIC venue. Come and enjoy.

Pro tip; the entrance is in the alley. It's difficult to find from the street.

Went a while ago by way of an invitation from a friend. I was sketchy about the back entrance at first, but it was ok. Very small venue, dark, limited seating. There was a new band called Famous In Iowa that played && they rocked. Loved their music. The crowd was young && diverse. Cool spot.

Great music venue!  Fair price for the ticket and not one but TWO bars available to get a drink from.  There was a decent amount of seating and actually a fair amount of standing space.

This is definitely a little gem in Hollywood. I came here on a Friday night to see someone perform..mainly because my friends wanted to. I had no idea who this guy was, but he was amazing! The room is very intimate and cramped, but the overall ambiance was great. The bar is right there, the stage is right there. Overall, I loved it. I definitely would love to come again. This is another hidden place that is located in a ghetto looking alleyway. So make sure to look hard...it's easy to miss.

Went here on a Monday night. Great small venue to see a band. Drinks are of the no frill variety... By that I mean don't expect anything fancy. I do plan to return however for the bands.

One of my favorite places in LA to check out live music.  Small, intimate venue.  I routinely waltz in without reservations, and the acts are consistently good.  If you're lucky, you'll even catch an *excellent* act or two.  A great place to chill, unwind, and groove to some good music.

Quaint little secret spot in LA where we saw Holly Williams (Hank's daughter and old Hank's granddaughter!)  What an experience!  The venue is super intimate, which made the show even more spectacular.  We hung around afterwards to chat with Holly and get a photo.
The Hotel Café brings an eclectic crowd with class.  A+++

Hotel Cafe books amazing singer-songwriters and bands. As my fiance pointed out, the musicians are too good and too tight to be local bands; they're usually national acts. Throw in the fact that there's actual seating near the front of the stage, strong drinks, and laid-back/intimate atmosphere, it makes for a great night out.

I love this place.  I have only been in for a couple shows, but it's been my favorite in LA so far.  It is really small and intimate in the best of ways, with twinkling lights hanging down from the ceiling, stemless wine glasses, and a small stage..  As a member of the audience, I felt like I was an integral part of the show.  Plus, you can use credit cards!  The thing I liked the most was that it smelled the best of any venue I've been to!  Like vanilla and happiness!

This place has quite the charm. I've been a few times now and have loved it every time. The sound quality is great and its a very small space so you are up close and person with the performers. The staff here is amazing and really take care of you. I now go here even if I just think someone is ok just to go to this place again. If you are into celebrity sightings then this is a place for you every show seems to draw out a few. Both the drinks and the food are great too. Get here early so you can grab one of the tables in front of the stage.

Entrance is in the back. Intimate venue (ie. small). There were a mix of chairs and standing space by the stage.

I also like that they separate the stage room with double doors so you can hang near the entrance/foyer if you just want to talk. There were plenty of space and room to move; it didn't feel overly stuffed.

I love love love Hotel Cafe.  They bring in so many wonderful and talent performers.  I really can't say that I've witnessed a performance that I didn't enjoy.  All the best indie artist make a stop at Hotel Cafe; I've seen Mariah McManus, Marie Digby, Rachael Sage, and Borrower's Debt and others.  The room is intimate and the crowd is always feeling the music.  Depending on the performer, you typically don't need to purchase tickets in advanced, although recommended.  They usually have line up of about three performers each evening. And if you purchase your ticket for one performer you can typically stay for the others.

The entrance in around the back so don't go pounding the front door because that's essentially the front stage : ) There are two bars and food can be served as well if you get a table.  Hollywood blvd is a hip street with lots to do.  For the parking situation, you can typically get meter parking or pay about $7 to park in a lot nearby.

Came here with some friends to take in the live music experience. We stayed for 2 or 3 bands...all of which were decent. The floor space is average with some tables and chairs in the front of the stage. There's a bar in the room and another bar in the lounge/entrance area.

    Cover charge: $20.

This place is pretty nice, but not my favorite. Definitely a great place to hear some nice music and get a drink. But, for some reason, it does not offer the same enjoyment when hearing the music as other places do, maybe it is because the layout is a little bit weird, but overall, its a pretty nice place to hang out. Its actually a pretty good size, but can feel a little empty when there are not a lot of people inside. I have seen really good bands here but sometimes the fans of these said bands get a little crazy, dancing like maniacs... okay for some, but not for a chill night out like i prefer. Its really a shot in the dark, I would recommend going, hopefully the wild patrons stay home when you go.

Love this venue. Prices are cheap, drinks are affordable. Very intimate venue, gives you a chance to listen to your favorite up-and-coming artists at a very reasonable price. You usually have a chance to meet them in person as most of them stick around to mingle afterward. I love this place.

Hotel Lounge is a cool venue for a live show, not too big, not too crazy. You sit and drink and maybe eat and listen to the chill band or artist. Go look at the pictures for more of a visual.
I usually find LA entertainment a little too slick but this was nice.
I usually drink whiskey or beer when I see live music but this place isn't a typical place so I enjoyed some gin mixture.
I wouldn't mind seeing more music here at all.

I've only been here twice to see Katrina Parker, Tony Lucca, Justin Hopkins and Jamar Rogers - all contestants on The Voice.

It's a small venue with a very intimate feel. There are 2 bars - one in the front room and one where the stage is - and it was always fairly quick to grab a drink.

I don't know who usually plays here but it seems like they're all up and coming artists. Both times I've gone, tickets were $10 and we stayed for multiple artists. What will keep me coming back is the family atmosphere that they got going on. Usually the artists hang out and spend time with the fans afterwards and it's a great chance to meet and greet.

No need to get there early. It's in a back alley so can be a little hard to find.

This place is awesome! It's got a small setup, with a few dinner tables surrounding the stage. The bartender was really nice, and she made a mean Long Island Iced Tea! I didn't order any food, but it sure smelled good! The sound here isn't the best in the world, but considering the size of the venue, it was better then I expected.

Parking lot is a little small, but preferable to the public ones next door, so you don't have to walk through the dark alley all by yourself. :)

Happy to see a music venue thriving and still putting up decent to legit musicians.  I've seen some top performers, some fantastic unsigned artists, some whatever/shitty people but it's always a good time at Hotel. The sound could be a little better in there but the small intimate venue means it's not terrible and there's never a terrible view. However as a person of short stature,I dislike the pillar on the right side when it gets crowded.  The bar serves decently strong drinks.
    There's a hangout area that's separate from the bar/"stage".
They book multiple acts per night and charge separate cover per event (like max $15), so sometimes they close out Hotel in between acts.
    Parking always sucks out there.

This is my favorite place to see live music in LA.  Not crazy big/crowded/expensive like places on the Sunset Strip and not too small/divey/more-like-a-bar-than-a-music-venue like a lot of other places in Hollywood.

Super Soul Monday is our absolute favorite.  No cover before 11:30 p.m. (totally fine on a Monday) and it's just the best darn show you can imagine, every week.  Drinks are good.  The space is such that there are no really bad spots to stand.  Nice staff.

I've only been to a couple weekend shows but they're always fun.  Great musicians.  Usually you can buy your ticket for the first show of the night around 7 or 8 and then stay all night for the rest of the acts.  Solid venue.

I can't really speak to the parking situation--I live close enough that I always just walk.  You'll probably have to valet or spend some time looking for street parking in Hollywood.  Whatever--par for the course in that area.

Opened a tab at the bar, then sat down at a table and was informed that (a) there was a $10 minimum to sit and (b) she couldn't access the tab I already opened because this was "separate".  Give me a break.

Otherwise, nice cozy space with a decent stage.  Sound could be better.

What a wonderful venue! If you enjoy an intimate setting to see one of your favorite bands, this is definitely the place to go. From the outside this place doesn't look like much, but you aren't going for the ambiance outside, right? Upon walking in, you see how intimate the place is, and you get the chance to see the band up close. It wasn't crowded when I was there so I had plenty of room to just enjoy the music (Lydia Loveless).

I can't comment on the food or drinks, since I ate at Big Wangs prior to walking over there.

I would definitely go back, in fact, I will be going back around May to check out K's Choice. I cannot wait to see them at this venue!

It's little and it's dark. Not a phrase you hear too often.

The drinks were reasonably priced, I think. I don't know how many I had, though, so I could be way off on this one. I didn't feel like I got robbed. That's good enough for me. It would be difficult to feel like you couldn't hear or see the performer on stage from anywhere in the room. It's pretty tight.

I was here for the Rock Drive event, put on to raise funds in support of Hurricane Sandy. Well, not in support of the hurricane, but of the people who were affected by the hurricane. Slight difference.

This has nothing to do with the venue, but I do want to mention since I have a captive audience right now (I disabled your scroll wheel - try it!!) that the girl who was hosting this event was annoying. She talked way too much, she was not interesting to listen to, at all, and she was too uppity and self-important.

For example, it is unnecessary to scold a crowd for talking during a performance. We are not watching a tightrope walker. If we want to talk, that is the performer's fault for not being captivating. End of story. I don't need to be reminded that you think this performer is fantastic. I paid money to watch these people. I know they're good. How about you take your own advice and stop talking. I learned it by watching you!

The bartender was sporting a Michael Jordan jersey. Never gets old. 23.

    a hidden gem!!! :D

Came here with my friend to see a very talented performer :)
My friend is a huge fan of Jane Lui (she is AAAAMAAAZING!!! please look her up) and she had her first LA show (?) at hotel cafe. She baked yummy treats for everyone!

This is her performing at hotel cafe: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DwUpJlk7HY0E&s=3e90a2605c5b17c6cbde984ae2ecfbaa2c2106782c55b829fa2e2424e8bc2229" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>
    This is my favorite song: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DY0khBEhYbPE&s=d31bdc70a43d25c41d7c2d395386a46799252c95cdd6b44fc946faf0309fb76e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>
My favorite cover song she did (she loves MJ like i do!!!): <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DT3LVLxOv1EU%26feature%3Dautoplay%26list%3DRD08LmHFG-cwPwA%26playnext%3D2&s=b40990857494f0158c492eb0447b1db1102c393628e704a43f7f8a5eaeb97cad" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>
Another Favorite of mine, Usher OMG cover song (very creative): <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D0FOSqxPLNmY&s=f90133935b6ea600da12dc99a590c8a53995407860469075500b21b95cf91cfe" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>

The place is very intimate, low key, standing lounge. It's a lil hard to find and you enter from the back. It's a place to enjoy live music by talented up and coming artists.

Please show up in comfy shoes. It's dark-lit so no one will see your pretty feet, might as well be comfortable ;)  There are few chairs and bar stools to sit on if you show up early.

Parking/traffic is never fun in Hollywood. Leave early so you won't be late.

My words cannot begin to describe how enchanted I have become with this place. It really is the best intimate setting to experience your favorite singer-songwriters showcase their talent. And if you're good at recognizing people, maybe you'll even spot other musicians in the audience, supporting their talented friends. I'm pretty sure I've spotted Sara Bareilles here rocking out to Harper Blynn, but didn't want to interrupt the good time she was having with her friends. Believe you me, I'm still anguished over not meeting her, despite being within 10 feet of her awesome self.

(EDIT: I did meet Sara Bareilles at a later date, and it happened here. Yay!)

Staff and people who love coming here are gracious and lack pretentious vibes. There are just GOOD VIBES and GOOD PEOPLE here, so I love it even more. Drinks seem fairly priced, although I usually don't indulge because I lack the funds to support a drinking habit. I can comment on the food though...you won't be let down! I've had paninis there a couple times and they have been delicious and reasonably priced. I've read the fries are good too, and when I get around to trying them, I'm sure I will gush about that too.

Oh and seriously, coming here does NOT break the bank. $10 cover at the door gets you in for a good night of music! Come with friends, come alone, you're bound to have fun in this awesome venue.

Hotel Cafe, I love you, and I will be back soon! You have never disappointed me, so thank you!

Acts I recommend, who have been Hotel cafe regulars: Javier Dunn, Harper Blynn, Meiko, Tyler Hilton, Cary Brothers.

Love this music venue. Cozy, intimate, just the right amount of lighting, awesome acoustics, and amazing bands play there. May be a little hard to find the first time you go there, but I'm so glad I discovered it.

The Hotel Cafe is a small, local venue featuring new up and coming artists. I came to see Bobby Long perform here with his acoustic guitar and raspy vocals that had me swaying in mellow bliss.

Comfy, broken in couches and a few stools at the bar, the stage area is standing room only. A grungey, dark place with a definite LA vibe. Holla at your friends to come hang out and meet @ the corner of Hollywood &Cahuenga.

I've been to a lot of live music venues in the LA area, both big and small, and I think Hotel Café may be my favorite. Even though I love hearing live music and discovering new bands, so many times it can be such a pain to get to that new music. Grimey bars that smell and are sticky, standing room only, places that serve terrible and overpriced drinks... it can be enough to make you want to stay  home with Spotify and be done with it.

This venue is the opposite. It's intimate, classy, and well kept. Though they have shows almost every night of the week, they take care of their space and it shows. There are seats and tables outside of the main music area if you want to have a conversation and actually be able to hear the other person while you're waiting for your band to come on. They even serve food, and it's pretty good!

The employees and bartenders are always super nice, and I love the moody, dim lighting in the room. Everyone I've ever seen here sounds and looks great on that stage, too... the acoustics are so crisp and clean! You definitely can't say that of every music venue in this town.

I highly recommend catching a show here if you can... it's worth making the trip into the heart of Hollywood!

This is one enchanted little place.

If you are a music lover- this is the place to be. On any given night you can find loads of talent on stage, and also lots of fun surprise acts... (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Sara Bareilles...)

I can't tell you how many times I have been here and the acts on stage will somehow get everyone in the audience to sing together, it feels like a big family reunion sometimes lol.

So many NICE and DOWN TO EARTH people here...

If you are new to LA and want a chill night where you can meet fun people and listen to amazing music- even if its just you by yourself... this is the place to be!!!!!!!

Such a great LA hot spot!

It's big enough to hold a crowd that'll get you in the grove, and small enough that you can still actually see the faces of the performers on stage!

There are so many great up and coming acts who have come through Hotel Cafe. Always unique options, from folk to pop and R&B (Particularly Jason Joseph and the Spectacular featuring Daniel Bedingfield!).

I can't believe it took me SO long to see a show at this place! Can't wait to go back and see more of what LA is really all about - the up and coming talent - the people who are 'unknown' for the most part, even though they work their butts off!

See them here for cheap, before their tickets are $100 at the Bowl!

Dark, cool, sexy, intimate, casual...and yes, it was me who fainted in the middle of a ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE! Just for the record, I was not drunk. It got hot/stuffy up in there. haha. Sorry if I stumbled through you as my legs were not quite carrying me as usual for the next few minutes. Even with that, I enjoyed this little place! Or maybe I just loved Alice Smith.

We parked down the street in a pay lot that only costed $4. Cheap, score. I went specifically to catch Alice Smith who had thee most amazing, beautiful voice. The sound quality was excellent. There are two bars. One right outside the door and another inside. Bartenders are quick. The place didn't get so crowded that you can't find a spot, but it's mainly standing room only. Few tables near the front, which seemed to be reserved. Didn't have any trouble viewing from various places around the floor.

Walk down the side alley to the entrance in the back. Didn't buy our tickets beforehand so just paid the $20 at the door. Went earlier than Alice's set and caught the tail end of the previous act who was singing a song about vaginas being 8 miles wide. No joke. You can go as early as you want and stay through as many of the acts as you want. They don't give you the boot between performers. After 10PM there was a good sized line outside so get there a little earlier.

I've only been here once but I'm in love.

I came for the Rocco Deluca residency and instantly loved the intimate, dark atmosphere of this place. I wish I had explored it more, but Rocco was already playing by the time we arrived and I didn't want to leave the room. It really IS about the music here, and my friends were repeatedly shushed as their conversation started to get a little loud. Apparently this is not an uncommon thing at Hotel Cafe, but come on folks...we're not in a library.

They have artists here ALL days of the week, not just on weekends.

Drinks are strong, and about average for a drink in this part of town.
