While not a Bill C student (yet)...it is clear that as a trained improvisor, actor and comedian,  Bill brought an elevated yet grounded performance to his recognizable role as Fred Mertz in I Love Lucy Live on Stage.

I had a lot of fun in my first class today. I take improv just for therapy so I don't have to pay a shrink.

The Improv Trick is a great place whether you're a beginner, or an experienced improvisor wanting to take some additional classes. Bill Chott is patient, hilarious, and always has creative insights to help you "get out of your head" and be in the moment. Prices are also very reasonable, and once you have paid for a class you can take it again and again so you stay fresh!

First time seein improv here. Really funny and in a chill, casual setting. I have seen some of these cast members in another venue in LA. Very talented group! Audience was involved from the beginning throwing out suggestions. Improv games were fast-paced. Second hour was open for audience members to fully participate. We didnt eat - but the service was good for drinks. For $5 tickets- it was definitely worth the trip to Pasadena.

An amazing group. The improv 101 lifetime class is a steal, and you can repeat the course as often as you like until you are comfortable moving on. What makes the improv trick more attractive than the UCB-- the endless other competition out there- the class is truly designed for ANYONE. Also, Bill Chott is a nice guy who genuinely cares for students. A caring personality in this business is such an outlier too! In addition, the class is only $125 dollars? To put that in perspective, the eight class session I considered at UCB cost over three times more than that!

Oh, and you get to attend the FREE sauce shows as well! You can also take the lifetime class in Pasadena concurrently with the Hollywood class.

The Improv Trick is not just offering Improv classes but building a community of Improvisers under the tutelage of IT Director Bill Chott. Bill is a seasoned acting veteran with a passion for Improv as well as an understanding of the needs of the marketplace. Bill also happens to be building an impressive resume himself on both the small and large screen adding to his expertise and knowledge of what the industry is looking for with regard to Improv. Most importantly IT classes provide a safe, supportive Improv environment to work in. You don't even have to be an actor to enjoy the benefits of the Lifetime class! I've heard non-actors mention it does wonders to relieve stress and it's been proven that Improv can even help with sales and public speaking.

Improv Trick classes are unique in that once taken can be repeated at no cost over and over for as long as the class is offered. Besides being a substantial value for the money, repeating classes at IT  gives the Improviser,  whether beginning or seasoned, an opportunity to workout on a regular basis in a supportive atmosphere. I highly recommend IT classes as an introduction into the craft of Improv, as a supplement to classes elsewhere or as a comfortable environment to workout on a regular basis. Having been an Improv Trick student myself I'm writing this review from the viewpoint of someone who's been in the trenches. Hope your experience with the trick is as enjoyable as mine sure has been. He ought to just rename the Lifetime Class "Laugh Therapy 101"!

I stumbled on Improv Trick through Meetup and am so glad I did. I'm new to improv and LOVE this class.  It's as fun, engaging and valuable for newbies like me as it is for  professionals. And that's all because of Bill Chott.

Bill is a master of his craft.  His passion for the work and his commitment to his students is obvious and infectious.  He knowingly and compassionately coaches  us on tools that work both on stage and in life.  I've learned so much in my last 3 weeks ; not just about Improv "tricks", but about active listening, being fully present in the moment, storytelling, and subtext.  These valuable skills extend  beyond the stage and into life.  I am proud to be a Lifetime Member and look forward to many more classes to come.

If you sign up, I guarantee you'll love it too.  I don't think a better school exists in LA or anywhere.

    Thank you Bill!!

After about a year of searching (no exaggeration) for an actual improv coach that cares about his students, following classes at UCB I am very happy to have finally found Bill & company- a group of pros that genuinely care about students whether they are actors or not.

This class is beneficial to anyone who has a need to become a better improvisor, and storyteller which is not only an acting skill but a life skill and a tremendous business tool.

However, actors WILL learn more from Bill in 5 hours than 5 weeks elsewhere.  He will give you a real foundation from which to grow.

This includes and is not limited to:  Active listening, Aggreement &/ Creative permission, truthful behavior, using your enivronment, creating compelling characters and everything that is needed to inform your work and make you stronger in a scene.

He really takes time to give you the specifics and excercises that are absolutely needed to support your work.  Unlike many places in hollywood where the inmates are running the asylum you will be coached by a working professional whose credits include:  SNL, Wizards of Waverly Place, and It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia...and many more.

He is one of the few coaches that guarantees a lifetime commitment to everyone in the lifetime class.  It is a genuine opportunity to learn and grow no matter where you are in your craft.

I have to admit I took this on a whim and ended up joining! First off there is no just sitting and watching. Everyone is an active participant. It really is a non-judgmental atmosphere.  You end up laughing and enjoying the fastest two hours you ever spent with strangers.  Bill makes you feel welcomed and wanted in his group. All the co-facilitators make you feel the same way. If your thinking this is just for those who want to be in the "business" think again. I am a Medical Professional and really endorse this class for all us who do public speaking and deal with patient/family interactions daily. As we get older I think we forget how to play because are work lives are so serious. This class will allow you to recapture that fun side that was packed away. I encourage you to go to the free class and you too will be hooked!

The Improv Trick's free beginners class introduced me to how much fun improv is, and two years later I'm still having a ball. Bill's experience speaks for itself and both his improv and teaching skills are top-shelf. You will learn a lot from him and have a great time too.

I thought this was a very good deal since I did Groundlings years ago and they charge a leg. Then when I went there Bill said I was a member for life with this deal and could come all the time. Huh? For life? I couldn't really wrap my mind around that. Who does that? what's his angle? was going through my brain. I later discovered Bill is just an amazing guy that loves doing improv and teaching people improv. In Los Angeles that's like finding a Unicorn and him leading you to a barn filled with other unicorns... I'm not sure where I was going with that.
Join Improv trick it's great fun!!

What a great, friendly, nurturing FUNNY place to learn improv.  Bill Chott is one of the funniest men I know, and his approach to teaching improv really makes the student feel empowered.  Improv isn't just for actors and comedians - it's for anyone who wants to feel more confident and better prepared for situations that involve interacting with people.  And, really, don't the BEST situations involve interacting with people?  Go try on the free improv jam, and then take a class.

I really can't say enough great things about Bill Chott and Improv Trick.  I'm delighted to have had the chance to work with him. He's a hilarious comedian and a terrific person (a combination that can be sadly hard to find). If you're looking for a place to study improv, whether you are a performer who wants to hone your skills or a "normal person" looking for a class to help boost your confidence, Improv Trick should be your first stop. Bill's fun, welcoming, and a master of his craft.

Lifetime membership includes free repeat classes - What?!  Absolutely insane value.  I was only able to take the first class, but it was fantastic.  A very fun, welcoming and hands on class.  Since I got the lifetime membership, I hope to take the entire class series this fall and it's free.  How nice to not miss out cause your class series was interrupted by life.  Where else can you do that?  P.S. I actually was a fan of the Wizards of Waverly Place haha! and Bill is awesome :)

Whether or not you've wanted to try improv for the first time or you're already making money as an actor, writer, director, producer or best boy, Bill is a great coach. If you're new, he'll help you feel comfortable. If you're a grizzled veteran of the industry, he'll help you grow. Don't hesitate, this is the best improv deal in the USA. Victor

One of the best classes I've ever taken!  A great place to learn improv skills, not only for performing, but for any situation where people skills are required.  Bill is a phenomenal instructor - he and his staff, as well as the other students, are incredibly supportive, welcoming, and just genuinely wonderful people.

Amazing classes!  Bill is a great instructor and the food at Hutch's BBQ is delicious.  Good grub, good laughs, and cheap drinks.  Oh yeah, and there is free parking.  If you want to perform or watch improv at an enjoyable venue, this is the place.

I took classes with the Improv Trick several years ago and it still guides me today. Bill taught me you don't have to be an actor to benefit from improv. It is truly a way of life that leads you to being more open and accepting of new directions.
My back ground is in sales and the Improv Trick helped me gain confidence in speaking to large groups for my presentations as well as listening better to the needs of my clients. I also made life long friends with people whom I may have never met.
I recommend his trainings to anyone who is looking to improve their daily life and find a new way of seeking motivation and inspiration. The Improv Trick is IT!

Bill is an incredibly talented artist, and teacher who makes you feel like a part of the family from the moment you walk in the door. Bill Chott is by far one of the most talented improvisers I've ever had the pleasure of watching. He just an all around great person too! The Improv Trick definitely gives any other improv training center a run for their money! I would highly recommend taking his classes for a solid foundation in the art of improv.

The Improv Trick is one of the best improv schools I've ever seen, and an insanely good value. Bill Chott is one of the most dedicated improv coaches in the nation, and so very much wants to make improv accessible to everyone. The lifetime class offer is unlike any other improv school I've seen (and I've seen quite a few). Being able to take a class as many times as you'd like is fantastic, and completely unheard of in many improv circles. Believe me, if you want to do improv, this is a deal you should absolutely have.

And the community surrounding IT is superb. These are fantastic people who genuinely care about one another. Their dedication to bettering each other as well as themselves is a genuine delight, and that's a quality that's not always present in the other schools. This a truly a place where we succeed together.

Bill Chott and the Improv Trick are great, and I can't recommend them enough, whether you're a beginner looking to start or a veteran looking for a community. Bill is a true pro, having been in the improv scene for over 20 years, and a part of some of the greatest improv teams in history. Do yourself a favor, and check out the Improv Trick.

I love this place for learning the art of improv!  I've never taken classes before (although there are several "pros" taking class with us amateurs), and really wanted to find a place that would make me feel comfortable.  THIS IS IT!  A truly positive environment, where everyone gets a chance to "play".  And the price is sssooo right.  I really want to give them a 4.5, the only reason i'm marking down .5 is because the parking can be a little bit of a hassle, and the space is small and dark with a teeny! restroom... but, hey, it's improv, you make it what you want it to be!

I started taking classes with Bill Chott in St. Louis about 5 years ago. This is where I got my beginnings! AWESOME! I'm a former lifetime student of IT and moved to LA to pursue my acting career. With that, I began teaching with IT here in LA, and occasionally return home to teach classes and workshops. What great fun!

Why do I love Improv Trick?

My beginnings. Homey. Comfortable. Valuable.  Bill's 20+ years of improv experience is great for anyone. Beginner or pro. Performer or office manager.  I'm a graduate of iO West (formerly improvOlympic West) and currently studying at The Second City Hollywood - you'll get the same - if not better - training at IT then other training centers in LA. With Bill's philosophy of training and his remarkable understanding and experience with improv you'll get the best.

Classes, workshops, and shows are just HALF of the reason why I started and STAYED with ImprovTrick. The other half - community. Plain and simple. Good, CARING people. Everyone gets close, and we form bonds and relationships. Whether we go out for coffee afterwards and talk about "who's hiring" or go sit on my patio for a BBQ on some random night to play skip-bo, the Improv Trick community is as strong as the syllabus that binds us.

Should you be around IT, come find me and say hello. You'll have a fried for life.

Somehow managing to find myself perpetually low on cash (perhaps too many lovely establishments to enjoy and yelp about?) finding The Improv Trick was a huge stroke of luck for someone with little improv experience and little extra revenue like me.  I, like many others, found it through groupon, and snapped up their deal, however the studio is still running a very low price special for their Lifetime Class right now. I love that I can take a lifetime class for free whenever I want forever now, which ended up being a lifesaver as after the first week of class I got caught up in some life shenanegans and had to miss the last few classes. I'm going back this week. Whew!

I will say this - at least from the class I attended, the Lifetime Class seems to cover the basics of improv, so it was perfect for me, but I'm sure many struggling actors in the city would appreciate the financial ability to go "work their chops" for free anytime they want, regardless of experience level.

Bill and the staff are great, and I love this grass roots approach to trying to build an improv establishment through smart ideas and word of mouth. I'm very glad I found them!

    Fun times on Sundays.

Thanks to groupon I became part of the lifetime membership and can go anytime to a improv class. They offer other classes but I'm not doing this as a career... Just a way to release stress. So I'm good with just the improv classes.

Bill, Neil, Lizzie, and DJ teach the classes. It's great to see pros leading the class bc they are just naturally funny and good.

I feel like I've learned a lot from the classes in terms of how to improv.

    Service
They are really helpful and if you want to get to know them, then they meet after the class to grab food at a local place.

    Games
Really fun. I've taken theater classes before and some games I've never played. Different.

Overall, I have the option of going every Sunday to have fun.
