Great pub for a cold & rainy day. Who can beat a good burger & 20 oz. beer sampler for $10? Also try the french onion soup, it is delicious.

Food is average. A friend and I went on a VERY QUIET weekday afternoon- us and one other group of people were in the restaurant. The staff treated us like we were invisible. Since the restaurant was slow,  everyone that was working decided to chit chat at the front of the restaurant while my friend and I sat at our table aimlessly waiting for our waitress to come back over. Eventually, I had to get up and actually wave my hand at her.

Again, the food was average. Nothing special. Nothing exciting. I don't think I will go back.

Sometimes its good and most of the times it sucks.

Burgers at this place tastes like dry cardboard.... I like the Wings...

We were seated and no one came to our table for more than 30 minutes..Service sucks...  Waitress was not interested in service and she was BAD from starting to end...

Service at this place if unsupervised is enough to drive away customers...

I love this place! The food is always excellent and the service is fantastic. I've tried many items on the menu including apps and desert, been here for lunch and dinner, had take out, sat in the bar and the dining room, and have dined here during the week and on the weekends. Every time, John Brewers refuses to let me down. The corn bread is amazing. The steak tips are awesome. The entire staff is always so friendly. The service is super fast. The parking is free and ample. The prices are fair. What more could you ask for??

$5.95 to sample four beers of my choice? Yes, please.

$10 house burger and beer browser? I'll take it.

Cozy booths, real taverny decor with historical paintings. I flipping love this place. Had the Watch City salad with turkey tips (perfectly cooked) and it was 1) delicious and 2) two whole meals. The cornbread is a-real fluffy.

Went here for the first time. Food was average and a bit bland. Waitresses are friendly and really beautiful. My dessert was missing some components as advertised on the menu. When I brought this to the server's attention, she brought out the missing items but was not apologetic and had no explanation. I had to ask for additional napkins when dessert came. My placemat had been dirtied by the dinner. It was not replaced when the dessert came. It was obviously stained/wet and the server placed the to-go bag right on top of it. Anyway, service was below average. Will not return. There's no reason to.

It's too bad. Looks like it could be a fun place. Lots of character. Dirty though...the whole place could use a detailed cleaning.

We've only been here once, and we do plan to return. I'm kind of on the fence between three stars (A-OK) and four stars (Yay! I'm a fan!), so I'm starting with three and will raise it to four if we have additional good experiences there.

The meal started off poorly, but ended excellently. Here's the story:

Started with a so-called "Key Lime" martini that tasted (and looked) more like Midori than lime. Nothing on the rim, either (would have hoped for graham crackers). None of the listed ingredients would have made it that particular shade of green - that's another reason I suspected Midori. It was too sweet and not lime-y enough. I was saying as much to my sweetie (the Meat-Eater) when it seemed we were alone. But a couple moments later, as if by magic, a beautiful young woman appeared beside the table, asking "How do you like your drink?" ....  hmm. Well, I wasn't even really going to say anything, probably, but since she was there asking and all, I said, "Well, um... oh dear, you must have heard me talking about it... " and explained my little analysis about lime vs. Midori. She was agreeable about it, took it away, brought me something else, and took it off the bill. So that was cool. I don't know who she was, but she wasn't our waiter. I think of her as the Cocktail Goddess who magically appears when I dislike a cocktail. I can only dream that she doesn't even work for John Brewer's Tavern, that she's a supernatural being, and that wherever I go for the rest of my life, the lovely Cocktail Goddess will magically appear to solve my cocktail problems.

The meal itself was fine. But what stands out in my mind is the apple crisp we had for dessert. WHOA was that the best apple crisp EVER.  BUT - a word to the wise - I asked specifically when I ordered it, "If this is normally microwaved, can you please heat it in the oven instead? I don't mind if it takes longer." And later when I was raving about how it was actually CRISP on the top (the way an apple CRISP should be) the waiter suggested that this is because I had asked for it to be heated in the oven. Well, I don't consider anything to be "food" after it's come out of a microwave, and when I see the word "warmed" on a menu, it's a red flag that it might be nuked. So that's why I asked. But if you like apple crisp - the Real Deal - go to John Brewer's Tavern and get it, but make sure you ask them to heat it in the oven. In fact, if anyone from the restaurant is reading this - I urge you to just start heating it in the oven as a matter of course. It makes all the difference... Cocktail Goddess, hear my prayer! :-)

A friend of mine lives very close to here, so we walked over the other night for a quick bite to eat.  I ordered the veggie wrap as it was reccommended by my friend.  the flavors were tasty but the sandiwch got a little soggy with the balsamic marinade in there.  Also ordered sweet potato fries which were cooked nicely, just crispy enough.

this place was defiitely crowded on a Friday night but is a convenient spot for pub food and a good atmosphere.  Live music makes it a bit hard to hear in such a small space, but it was nice to see local talent.

Came here on Sunday. Fryolator was broken so no wings. As a matter of fact, half of the menu was unavailable.
I asked the waitress what looked good coming out of the kitchen. She said steak tips. I ordered mine medium rare w a Caesar salad. Well, the Caesar sucked but the tips were AWE-some.
Waitress also suggested the cookie sundae. That was also a winner. Warm cookie, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream w chocolate & caramel drizzle. So good!
Nice selection of beers and wines by the glass. Still bummed about the wings though.

My BF and I visited this place on a whim - it looked very "New England" from the outside and since we just moved to the area we figured it'd be a great place to try out. And we were right. :]

Apparently they have $5 burger nights during the week, and 25 cent wings on some other nights, as well as 1/2 priced appetizers...basically every night that's not a Friday or Saturday there's some kind of deal. Since we came in on a Friday, there were no deals...but we did see something on the beer menu that caught our eye. It was 4, 5oz beer samplers with a burger for $10. Eff yeah! You could choose any beers off the menu to try, and they came in a cute little wooden holder. Some of the beers even had dressings on them like blueberries in the blueberry beer, or a sugar/cinnamon rim for the pumpkin ale.

The burger wasn't anything to write home about, but it was decent and the fries came out fresh so no complaints here. $20 bucks for two burgers and the equivalent of 3 beers is pretty awesome to me!

Their coalition salad is perfect.  Everything I've had here has been good.  Nothing is particularly complex or exciting, but I've never been disappointed. It's a great place to grab a quick lunch, or to have an after work beer and burger.

Love the wings!!! AND the price- 10 wings for $1 last night!
Basically, it's a very laid back environment to grab a bite and drink, especially the $8 pitchers of Coors Light~
Good for broke college student to go for cheap beer :)

Even though John Brewer's is a whopping two miles down the street from me, I never took notice to it outside of driving to work and seeing they offered wing and appetizer deals. Cut to yesterday, and my boyfriend mentions he wants to wings for dinner. Recalling the marquee outside, I figured we should take our chances.

As soon as we got out of the car we realized what a townie bar it was, mostly by the amount of 19-year-old boys hanging around outside in workout shorts and a fat guy waddling around, smoking a cigar in his cargo sweatpants. What a pleasantry, the color and vibrancy of Waltham.

Anyway, we headed in and had a short wait to get into the tavern area, which is the only area where they do their appetizer deal. No biggie. We stood outside with the guys dressed in their college pajamas and waited about 3 minutes before our buzzer-thing went off. When we entered, the waiter (manager?) said delightedly, "Good timing, guys! Come on in!" Good timing? You literally just summoned us with an oversized beeper. It's not good timing on our part if you're the one providing the timing, but thanks for the weird compliment nonetheless.

We got sat in a little nook thing, and the restaurant had a general warm pub feel, and it was pretty busy. We were kind of on top of the table next to us - three women yapping about their weekend patio projects and one of 'em saying,  "I'm tryna quit smoking, and my muthah's all, 'Yah gonna drive yahself kuh-razy!'" Your mother is astute, Waltham person.

Eventually the waitress comes over and we order two Diet Cokes. It takes her a decent amount of time, and what we got were two glasses of some dark brown syrup that tasted vaguely like root-beer-flavored candy. Nasty, but we dealt with it, and got a double order of buffalo wings and some fried pickles.

The food came out promptly, but just on individual dishes - we were never given plates to put the food on ourselves or to toss wing bones onto, and never offered extra napkins for the drippy wings (though it was a guy that brought us our food, not our previous waitress, and he disappeared around the corner before any of that registered with us). So we dig in.

The fried pickles were bland at best. If you've ever eaten at Tavern on the Square, you know their fried pickles are RIDICULOUSLY OH MY GOD GOOD, And these ones were simply just... breaded pickles with ranch on the side. So I got my three bucks worth, I guess, but I couldn't imagine paying full price for them.

The wings were alright, though on the salty side, and my boyfriend (normally inhaling wings like they give him life) was poking around at them and downing his mud-goo to kill the saltiness. Despite our glasses of oil being gross, we polished them off quickly and were never offered another set of drinks (which I would have gladly replaced with water). In fact, our original waitress never returned until we ate as much as we could. I immediately shoved some cash in the bill and we took off.

I can't complain in terms of price - the two of us ate for about $17 - but there is nothing bringing me back there again. I hope they figure out whether they're actually serving Diet Coke or they've tapped into a petroleum reserve.

Stopping by John Brewer's after a seminar, I was hoping to find a more upscale brewpub type of atmosphere.  What I encountered was more like an independently owned version of a Ground Round, or 99.

The service was pleasant and prompt, both at the door and at the table.  We were started with complimentary cornbread, which was warm, moist, and sweet - a nice touch, and a pleasant alternative to dinner rolls or bread.

The prices to portion size are a bit out of sync.  The fish and chips came with 2 small chunks of fillet.  They were cooked perfectly, but at $14, it was very pricey for the amount on the plate.  On the other hand, the similarly priced turkey dinner came on a huge platter, with generous portions of meat, stuffing, potatoes and fresh veggies.

Dinner was fine, all in all, but I won't be going out of my way to go back.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the wings here.  I don't usually eat wings outside of the home cause I hate the mess, I know I'm weird.  I can't refuse it here though.  They have the $.25 cent wings on Sun and Mon which is killer for they obviously know what their number one seller is on this menu.  The only catch is that you have to eat in a certain area, and you get one drink.  The  "rules" of the cent wings are almost laughable, but whatever maybe that is standard as I have never usually gone to places with the .10 cent .25 cent whatever nights.

The service is a crap shoot.  You sometimes get friendly, you sometimes get the whatever dude service.  The staff is mostly young, so you sometimes get the cell phone or chatty groups on the side.  I don't care as long as the drinks are filled and the stuff is removed from the table.  We usually go in big groups, so service is big when you have stuff building around the tables.  The guys usually drink a lot too, so to quell the complaining, I like when they are attentive to the drinks.  I myself go through just one, so its not me...its everyone I'm with that I have to listen to when the beer or soda is out for even 2 minutes!

The rest of the menu is whatever.  Same pub food, killer fries.  Stick with the wings or boneless wings and you can't go wrong.  Buffalo and the ermm...I think it's called asian zing or something is great.

I wish they would serve bread.

    The end!

My review is based solely on my multiple experiences here for the 25 cent wing deal on Sundays, and I will consciously make an effort to separate myself from the fact that I tend to come here with the coolest crew in the Greater Boston area, and I always have a great time.

Here's the good news. You can get wings in multiples of 10 for 25 cents each. $2.50 for a meal! Not bad! They have some solid craft brews to choose from, so if you're a Harpoon IPA girl like myself, you won't be subjected to drinking the nasty Anheuser-Busch gahhbage. But, if you don't mind that stuff (no judgement, really), you can get a pitcher for only 9 bucks! Although the fried pickles don't have any deal associated with them, they are worth the 7 bucks! Deliciously tangy and a bit spicier than the usual fried pickle. Yum!

And the bad news: They only have a choice of four flavors: Buffalo, BBQ, Honey Hot, and Plain (which just means no sauce). Also, you have to pay extra, although just an extra quarter of so, for expected accompaniments such as veggies, blue cheese, and an extra $2 to bring your uneaten wings home. Also, you MUST order beverages too, but I guess if you're coming here, you're planning on watching a game and drinking some beer anyway.

In conclusion, I would recommend coming here for some solid wings and brews on a Sunday to watch some sports and recap the weekend with your friends, as I do. In fact, you might see me there! I can't knock a place too much that I frequent pretty often.

Also, if anyone knows of any other good wing deals on Sundays that offer more wing flavor variety, let me know! I'd love to get that 411.

I was going to only give it 3 stars, but the $8 pitchers of Coors Light earns
an extra star. The menu is okay, usual fare of sandwiches, burgers, salads and
a few entrees. It seems that many locals are known by the bartenders and they usually sit and eat at the bar where it gets noisy, but the booths were fine
and the dining room is another option. The french onion soup was very good
but a little cold or lukewarm, but everything else was okay.

Due to the TGI Friday's inspired wall collection of nerdy local history stuff, I'm slightly embarrassed that John Brewer's is my ol' standby.  But they have $8 pitchers of Coors Light.  In Mass?!  Come on, that's unheard of!  And dear lord, if you've never had a fried pickle before, you haven't lived.  But if you consume them in the mass quantities that I dream about, you won't live too long.  The food here is super tasty.  Chicken fingers, sandwiches, salads, apps, I haven't had a bad meal yet.

Here's a top secret tip - eat at the bar area.  You will feel far less dorky.

Prior to my first visit, I knew what I was getting before stepping foot inside John Brewer's: A typical, suburban restaurant with lifelong Waltham residents eating potato skins as their ill-behaved children ran wild and made lots of noise. While I was dead-on with this assumption, I was pleased with the food and accommodations.

I've been here a total of four times, and three of those four I've been satisfied. Great comfort food, solid portion sizes, laid-back atmosphere and enormous beers. The steak tip/turkey tip combo special is certainly of interest.

The dining area is a bit convoluted but the bar area, particularly in the corner booths where you have your own personal mini HD TV, is a great place to watch a game. Wednesday night they have half-priced apps and trivia, which is always a plus.

My last visit was my worst. We sat on the patio, ordered nachos with chicken and received nachos without chicken. The waiter made it up to us by bringing us... a plate of dry, diced chicken - which we had to apply ourselves, altering the entire nacho experience for the worst. In the midst of nacho-munching, we were brought our entrees. Shouldn't there be at least a five minute buffer between when the appetizer is cleared and when the entree is brought out? Restauranting 101. Upon receipt, we were charged for our plate o' chicken, which was clearly the servers fault. No big deal, we had them take it off the bill.

Overall, you know what to expect from John Brewer's. Decent food, decent price, decent service.

Got to sit outside on the outdoor patio on a warm spring day.

Coming off of a long night the night before, we all dug into the bar food off of the menu.  Potato skins to start with - these suckers were huge.  I had the roast beef sliders.  Not as rare as they state on the menu but the rolls were toasted which was nice.  The burgers looked great.  The fish tacos also got a rave review.  I wouldn't really have thought of John Brewers as the place for fish tacos, guess I was wrong.

Some basic beers and iced teas to go around.  Service was fine.  There were even two servers out on the patio and they kind of tag-teamed each other.

Bathrooms are typical of a bar.

    Nice, laid back place.

Love the outdoor patio, especially for weekday lunching.

The menu is standard. Nothing special, but it's almost always tasty. Draft beer is standard too.

The atmosphere is best enjoyed on a Boston sports game night (go Bruins!), with friends. It's your typical 'pub' style crowd. Enjoy a beer and some wings, and you'll love this place.

Sorry in advance for a long review-- but we did NOT have a good experience at John Brewers.

I went there last night with a group of 7 people. It was around 9pm, and we were coming from losing in the playoffs for our dodgeball league...so we were in the mood for some drinks and apps to help lift our spirits.

We quickly found out that Tuesdays are Trivia night, and John Brewers draws a pretty big crowd for Trivia and their half priced apps.

We walked in, asked for a table for 7 and were given a wait time of between 10 minutes and 30 minutes for our party by the manager. Right away I thought that was weird, considering it was a Tuesday night...but we decided to wait it out.

After about 15 minutes we noticed that the dinning room was almost completely empty. One of the guys in our party went to ask the hostess what was up with the wait if the dinning room was empty. Her response was "Its my first day".

Another 5 minutes goes by, and the manager was back at the host stand so I went up to talk to him. Here is our conversation:

    Me: "how much longer?"
Manager: "not sure...there is still another group in front of you"
Me: "I hate to be a pain, but why is there a wait when the dinning room completely empty?"
Manager: "Oh, you wanted to sit and get food?"
    Me: BLANK STARE
Manager: "I thought you wanted to go to trivia...you always come here for trivia."
Me: "I've never been here before in my life...and are you telling me we just waiting for 20 minutes for no reason???"
Manager: "I'm really sorry-- I thought you wanted to go for trivia. By the way-- there are no 1/2 priced apps in the dinning room. Let me get you a table..."

Seriously??? Dont most places ask if you want dinning room or bar? I was shocked that he let us sit there for that long because he assumed we wanted to go to the bar to play trivia.

Now, I'm not one who goes to restaurants and complains about service just for the hell of it or to get free stuff. But I will speak up when needs be. The manager KNEW we were a little ticked off at his mistake, but didnt even offer a free app or dessert or whatever. POOR customer service.

The apps (we got Nachos and the app platter) were not that good. PLUS-- they were out of a lot of their draft beer. FAIL.

My impression of John Brewer's is  that it's a great neighborhood bar -- cheap wing nights, reasonable beer, plenty of TVs, a kickass $10 burger + 4 beer sampler special.

As someone who works in Waltham and doesn't really play there, though, it's been a pretty consistent lunchtime disappointment for the times I've been there. Generic, mostly-from-the-freezer bar food is great after a few beers, but pretty sad for a sober worktime luncheon.

I hadn't been here since I used to live in Nonantum, but it was pretty much the same as I remembered it.

The food is good quality pub food with some comfort food items as well. The shepard's pie is very tasty although not particularly authentic. The sweet potato fries and buffalo wings are very good while being very cheap as well. My only issue with the place is the rather limited beer selection. Basically your options are the various bud, miller and sam adams brews on tap. On bottle they have a couple more selections, but still nothing interesting. I find that very disappointing for a place that is mainly a pub.

So the other day a friend mine asks me to go to this bar with her, i say i like bars and cold beers. so I'm in! next thing you know we are cruising down the mass pike, traveling further and further away from my comfort zone. but i figured what the heck its a Wednesday, its all good, as always...i digress.

we are driving down main street in Waltham where there this huge wood carved sign has a single ray of sunlight on a cloudy day beaming down upon it. i look over at the driver and exclaim- we are going here right... she says yes, and inside i was the happiest i had been in quite some time.

so we go into this dimly lit bar, which we all know i love. we go up to the bar, the bartenders are extremely friendly. i order a Samuel Adams Boston brick red, to support a local charity... the bartender goes "would you like a 16 or 25 ounce... i kid you not i almost fell out of my chair!! 25oz cold beers on draft... you cant find this anywhere within city limits. not only was it 25oz of hops and malted barley goodness, it was the freshest and cleanest draft beer i had in a long time. you could tell that they pride themselves on their draft lines. SOOO GOOOD,

i would love to tell you about the food, but i didn't get any. the menu looked good, but we were only there for one reason. cold beers on a Wednesday night. i promise you i will go back to this bar and i will have  some food there and will be able to finish this write up!

until then... I will be dreaming about 25oz curls~

Hit up the bar area of J-Brew's last night and it was all I expected.

Great crowd of outgoing locals on hand for the Bruins game, plus it was "Friends of Harpoon" night with t-shirt giveaways and such.

The managers and waitresses were all real cool and it had a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

So the other day I was stuck in Waltham, totally starvation nation.   I decided to go to John Brewer's Tavern thinking, it's gotta be good.  I mean a. it's a tavern and b. it's got brew in the name right? Wrong.

The bf and I got there for our late lunch at around 4pm and I was instantly depressed.  The bar side of this place had a few people in it who looked like they had been there since 10am (and their wing prices have  gone up, I should add).

The dining side had ancient couples eating dinner, sipping glasses of white wine as they pushed fries around their plate and waited to die. Ok but seriously, these people looked SO depressed.  The whole place is dark to begin with and the music they were playing was morose.... But things got worse when the food came.

I ordered a steak and blue cheese wrap and, I ask you, when are those ever NOT delicious. Answer- at John Brewer's.  My wrap was DRIPPING with oil and falling apart, it made my nauseous just to look at it. And it tasted like it looked.  The fries were blah as well and just in general I could not wait to get out of there.

I would possibly consider coming back here one night to drink (the bar looked like it had potential) but I wouldn't go back for lunch or dinner. At least not until I'm  85.

This is decent standard pub food relatively near Bentley College.  The Spinach and Artichoke dip is particularly good, a good yummy mix of dip and chips that's warm enough to prepare you for your standard lunch.  Furthermore, the TVs are a great touch, though the limited channel selection can be a little problematic when a game isn't on one of the cable channels (it's understandable, but still problematic).  You've also got your standard "older photos" stuff, which makes for good conversation pieces.

The interesting thing is the sign outside, though.  It may be just me, but the John Brewer guy on the sign has intense blue eyes.  I mean, "staring like he's a Scooby Doo ghost" intense. He's staring, and you're like "Whoa!" Get the Mystery Machine, stat!

But the food is good if you know what you are expecting.

The food? eh.. it's ok.  The fish and chips are 2 small chunks of fish.  The caesar salad tastes like someone mixed a bottle of vinegar with a bottle of water, then threw in a tablespoon of mayo (gross is the point I'm trying to make.)

But 10 cent wings on Sunday and Monday?  Hollar.  Supposedly they're not that great but they ARE 10 cents.  Unfortunately they're only after 6 PM so if there is an early Pats/Sox game then you're out of luck like I was.

Also the personal televisions in each booth (in the pub) are a pretty sweet touch.  If I'd rather watch the Bruins but the Sox game is on (that doesn't happen but.. it might with someone else?)  then I can.

Its also pretty cool that the place has supposedly been around for a century plus.

John Brewer seems like he'd be my kind of guy.  Serve me a beer and some fish and chips.  I like that.

I've only been here twice but it was entertaining both times.  Once on a Friday night and there was a dude playing good music on his guitar.   He even played a riff from a Modest Mouse song which impressed the hell out of me.  I was there the second time on a Saturday when they have a karaoke DJ setup shop and people sing bad (good?) 80's tunes.

The karaoke was a little on the drunk amateur side with lots of people yelling out the lyrics to the song from their table.  I guess that's the de facto definition of karaoke however.  It was also very loud at the bar where I was sitting which happened to be right under the speaker.  But I rolled with the punches.

All-in-all it seems like a good place to grab some suds and grub and meet up with a friend or two.  The down side for me was that it had a  VERY local feel which, being located out in Waltham, I guess I should expect.  But part of me felt like I had to grow up in Waltham to fit in there.

Average.  I've had food here that was good, and I've had food here that was bad (i.e., the shepherd's pie).  They do tend to have good deals and it's a good place to watch a sporting event.

Not an enjoyable place for karaoke, though.  Cliquey townies who act like it's an American Idol audition and cougars trying to touch my husband.  Eww.

Ahhhh, Brewer's. They've got pretty good pub food - wings, potato skins, burgers, etc. They've also got a pretty decent selection of beer: I like how they have Blue Moon and Wachusett Blueberry (with blueberries floating in it).

There are two parts of Brewer's: the bar area and the dining room. Some of the booths in the bar areas have their own personal TV, and you can see a tv from pretty much anywhere you choose to sit, both in the bar and dining room.

There are pictures of "old Waltham" on the walls and on the place mats, which makes for interesting reading if you've got to wait for a table. You can also help yourself to some peanuts or hang outside and listen to the same music that's playing inside, if you've got to wait :)

Their service is usually pretty good and they have a pretty decent bar scene - if you want to hang out with mostly Bentley kids (no joke - I used to be one of them). Brewer's is good pub/bar place to watch a game with a bunch of people, get some good brews and decent food.

10-cent wings?  I'm in.  It looks like they did away with 25-cent wings during the school year and are sticking with 10-cents year round.  They just don't let you do any takeout, which seems like a fair compromise.

The wings are fantastic and not just because they're cheap.  I'd take these over Buffalo Wild Wings and that's saying a lot.  Needless to say, the place was pretty full because of the promotion, but I was able to get a spot at the bar right away and the service was much quicker than expected.

Before the game started (Monday Night Football), it was really quiet in the bar...almost too quiet.  There was music playing, but it was so low you couldn't tell what song was playing.  I like being able to have a conversation in a bar, but that was taking it to the other extreme.  Once the game started, they had the audio from the TV turned up.  It was a little confusing because one TV was on satellite and the other was on cable so there was a 1-2 second delay and you could hear the sound for both.  Tony Kornheiser is annoying enough...I don't need to hear his echo.

Nothing about this place blew me away, but there's something about the cozy atmosphere that makes me think I'll probably head back sometime soon.  Maybe it's because I left completely full and mildly buzzed for about $15.

After almost 3 and 1/2 years of working pretty close to this place I finally stopped in for the first time. It was exactly what I had in mind, which is a good thing.

I dined alone (I know, I eat lunch alone a lot but I work in a very small office) so I was afraid to order the nachos, which is what I really wanted. I knew I would have eaten them all myself and then felt guilty.

So, I had a respectable salad with turkey and walnuts and green apples and craisins. The only thing missing: a little cheese - blue or goat would have been nice. The thing I could have done without: finely chopped celery. I don't like that in a green salad.

I sat outside because it's a gorgeous day (and with summer coming to an end I need to enjoy every last one of them). Service was friendly and very efficient. Portion size was decent and my salad was very fresh.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Some days it's just nice to be waited on instead of rifling through the Russo's salad bar. It was totally worth spending $14 for a salad, soda water, tax & tip. I deserved it!

I really can't complain about this place. I've been going to Brewer's since my freshman year of college back in 2001. You can't compete with their 10 cent wings on Sundays and Mondays.

Unfortunately, during the academic year, this changes to 25 cent wings, and they charge you for a container, and I don't blame them. The college kids have been known for ordering mass amounts of the wings and then bringing it back to their dorm rooms for lunch/dinner the next day. I fully support them in that this is just not fair to them or their business.

This place knows how to run great service, awesome bartenders, and the management is awesome. I've gotten to know the general manager over the years and he certainly knows how make my wings extra extra extra spicy. :-)

Definitely the place to be when there's a game on, especially since they now have 20" (maybe 17"?)  tv's in each of the booths. Either way, it's always a good time at Brewers and you always go home with a full stomach.

Other items on their menu is yummy too, but be careful of going in there on a Sunday or Monday night during the academic year, you are guaranteed to wait at least a half hour and will be in a room full of jocks and frats. But always a good time!

John Brewer's, I like you.  Really, I do.  I like your TV's at the booths in the bar, I like the fact that you have 10 cent wings on Sunday and Monday, and I like your 20 oz. beers at reasonable prices.

But why, oh why, do you not serve these moderately tasty wings on days other than Sunday and Monday?

No, don't try to tell me that boneless wings are a reasonable substitute, because they are not.  Sure, your other appetizers are delicious, and you make a mean French Onion Soup...but seriously.  You and I both know that you have the stuff to make the wings in the back freezer, so what gives?

Admittedly, five stars is for tvs at every booth in the bar.  You even get your own remote.  HA!

The wait can be long, but there are enough tvs to keep you busy.  Food is good and reasonably priced.  I do typically stick to the bar food though.  Service is friendly.  There is a little patio for when the weather finally improves.

Based on the reviews I gotta go back for wings!

Great place to have some cheap wings and watch a game.

However, I went for lunch the other day and was somewhat disappointed.  I thought it was a little pricey (nothing for under $8) or a relatively small sandwich and small serving of fries.  My buddy's nachos were right on point though, big serving with lots of jalapenos, beans, etc.

I like Brewers, but I think if you're going to serve a smaller portion for lunch you need to knock a buck off the price.  Otherwise, you get exactly what you'd expect.  Good, cheap bar food, good service and a nice beer selection to choose from.

When I was in college (Bentley), this place was great.  10 cent wings on Sunday and Mondays is what brought us here most of the time, but the restaurant has decent food too.  Plus, the place has big TV's and a decent bar for watching sports and such.  If I can get the chance to come back here for old time sake, I will be there in a second.
The wings are (usually) excellent (for 10 cent wings :P) but don't get mad if you have to wait 20-30 minutes on these nights.  Try to get there early...
