This location was very consistent with the location in Atlantic City. Â It's a good malt and burger place that has that "greasy" flavor you would expect. Â It's amazing how you can even take a chicken sandwich and make it seem like you need to run ten miles to burn it off!
It was tasty and exactly what you would expect!
I love Johnny Rockets but this was the worst one I ever had. The fries were awful, the burgers seemed rush, and the servers were rude. I guess if you say you're dining out you shouldn't wait at the bar or something? I dunno. Whatever. Either way I've had great Johnny Rockets before but this just is not one of them. It's in a mall, so I shouldn't be surprised, but I was anything but impressed.
Review Source:I'm from California, where we have a chain called Ruby's. Â It's far superior to Johnny Rocket's, but when I'm out of CA and I need my fix, I definitely run to Johnny's. Â Their chocolate shake is amazing. Â Don't miss it. Â As for their burgers, they're pretty standard. Â I love their grilled cheese, but they serve it to you on a tiny little salad plate, which is annoying. Â I also hate that nothing comes with a side. Â But oh well, I do love their shakes!
Review Source:Johnny Rockets,
Oh how I crave thee...
Your your malts, your fries, your sandwiches...if this is what food was like in the 1950s, it makes me wish I lived back then!
The Johnny Rockets concept is not something that is new to me. My first JR experience was in Chicago some years ago, and I was instantly hooked. Back then, we didn't have one here in MN, but boy am I glad we do now. The BF and I make it a priority to eat here whenever we visit the mall--we love to sit in one of the red booths and sip away on an old fashioned malt and share a chicken club sandwich, fries and wings. It's not a classy joint, but it sure is some good ol' comfort food, hot off the grill.
Our service has always been great here. In fact, we almost always have the same waitress each time we visit, and she is awesome--never a problem with our order, and we always have refills at just the right time. We've been here both when it's been busy and when it hasn't, but we've never been disappointed. The prices aren't McDonald's cheap, but then again, the food isn't McDonald's nasty either. It's still probably the cheapest place at MOA that you can sit down and get real wait service at.
My recommendations: chicken club sandwich, butterfinger malt (with extra malt powder), and if you like to light your mouth on fire, try the hot rocket fuel wings--they're awesome (and messy)!
This is quite possibly my favourite burger place in the Mall, and maybe even in the Metro area.
Service is fast-ish, and if you want less wait time, don't go during peak meal times. Â I've never sat at the booths, and only sat at the counter once, but our service was very good.
The burgers are greasy and fabulous. Â I love the Route 66, which is basically a mushroom and swiss. Â They also have some good fries options, and the shakes are great. Â I don't eat there very often, but whenever I drive past the mall, Johnny Rockets is the first place I think of.
Johnny Rockets is your typical greasy burger joint. Â They are unique in that it's 90% counter service, but the service is good and fast. Â The cool thing is that they give you three nickels when you sit down to pop into the juke box selector at your seat.
The good was good, but not superb. Â I might go here again if I was in the mood for a burger while at the Mall, but there are so many other choices, I probably won't be back again for a while.
After reading a few of the other reviews I am glad that I was here on a good day. The food was fast and tasted fresh, It was fun playing with the little jute box at the counter and hearing the songs that my mom and dad grow up with. I think the best part of this place is that it has a really great view when it comes to people watching. You will find hours of entertainment with the food court right next door. Plus why do I see all these people with their pants on the ground.....
Review Source:We know every restaurant has it's good and bad days. We have eaten at Johnny Rockets NUMEROUS times. Our experience has been VERY good ......usually. (not without exception)
The Hamburgers are cooked to order, and we often sit by the grill just to watch these masters at work. Their Chili is really good, as are the malts.
They also use REAL whipped Cream...not the fake shit franchises use.
(those joints serve 'whipped topping'. (full of everything BUT dairy product)
(they make the whipped cream themselves as well)
(none of this 'Ready-Whip' shit)
They put a goodly amount of seasoning on the burgers which we happen to like. The fries and rings are sometimes a mixed bag.
Sometimes they're great, sometimes not, but more often than not, they ain't too damn bad. (home-made onion rings too)
They are the, ....underlined.... ONLY place in the Mall of America in it's galactic acred entirety, that serves REAL coca-Cola products WITH Ice, in a REAL glass!
How Pepsi got their digs into 'every' other vendor there, is completely beyond us but; Doesn't matter if you drink Coca Cola. It just means we don't go elsewhere to eat when at the Mall. (Most other mall restaurants there generally suck anyways....Franchise city for the most part.
Johnny's is a chain operation, as opposed to a 'franchise' just trying to get some business wind from a common advertising alliance scheme.
These folks actually give a shit what they put on your plate!
All the varied sandwiches at Rockets are finely prepared, and generally with care. The times you don't get a great meal, is likely when it's NOT busy.
The wait staff at Johnny's is first rate as well; Best I've ever seen in a fast food environment. Â The Cooks are awesome and professional. They are true cooks; NOT lame highschool employees!
These guys make McDonald's employees look like....well..., like McDonald's employees. As well...they also speak english...also unlike McDonald's employees.
Hell...they even flip you a few nickels to keep the classics rollin' in the Juke Stations around the place. (good tunes too!)
C'mon...give it a shot. It's not a bad burger joint!
If you want a decent steak Dinner at the mall,...try the Twin Cities Grill! Also a chain as opposed to a Franchise but, they too only serve Pepsi......Bummer! But they have GREAT food otherwise!
I had dinner here last night, and it was NASTY. The hamburgers tasted like they'd been sitting out for a long time before they were served; the cheese fries were soggy; and the malts/shakes were so-so. I think McDonalds offers better shakes. I recommend eating elsewhere in the food court @ the MOA. Stay away from Johnny Rockets.
