Straight up sports bar so nothing fancy or out of the ordinary. I find the location is a little odd but our waitress was sweet & attentive. Great Happy Hour specials but probably wouldn't frequent this location as a regular hangout.

Stopped by Johnny's Tavern after work last week for a few drinks with my co-workers. I got there around 3:30 PM and left a little after 5.

The bartender girl was in no mood to make any mixed drinks (yes, she told me this) so I went with rum and coke. During Happy Hour their wells are only $2. My friends ordered a plate of sweet potato fries and chips and guacamole. The guacamole was good but the sweet potato fries were way too salty.

All the employees seemed really hung-over. But maybe that's typical for a sports bar? I wouldn't know.

    Their bathrooms are clean.

It started to get busy right before I left (around 4:45). The place filled up really fast. I kept seeing people I work with....guess Johnny's is the place to go for an afternoon drink.

This Johnny's location is well okay.  I have been here many  times.  The food is good, but it seems the service is a bit slow and the layout is a lil odd.  Overall I like Johnny's and this store is no exception.

78 burger is fabulous.  No glitter. No pageantry. Just a straight-up no bullshit kick-ass hamburger. Order it with a good beer and you've got something great going on.

Was here Friday night with my boo...wasn't really sure what expect but was pleasantly surprised.

I'm not a fan of large crowded bars and night clubs, and the comfortable low key vibe I got from Johnny's was definitely welcome.  Added to that, the friendliness of the bartenders - made the overall experience quite pleasant.  Granted some of the clientele are people (you know the type, hipsters) that I really would rather not have to interact with but surprisingly enough, they weren't all that annoying at Johnny's.

Can't really say much about the food (either selection or taste) as I didn't order anything but a single drink, but seems to be standard bar food overall?  My boo ordered buffalo chicken tenders/wings (I really can't remember), and the smell of them alone was testament to how awesome they would have tasted...had I been hungry.

Overall an ok experience.  Of course we stayed only long enough for 2 beers, 1 drink, and 1 order of chicken tenders.  I think the hipsters there were kind of getting to us...

Their bar food isn't too shabby at all. Actually quite good with what I ordered, the chicken lettuce wraps. Got a ton of food for like $8 if I recall correctly. Friendly bartender and got served pretty quickly, albeit place was pretty empty that night, oddly considering it's a sports bar and grill during the NBA playoffs.

To properly judge the pizza, go with straight cheese.  It is the best in the KC area.
That being said, there is not an abundance of quality pizza in town, but Johnny's is very good NY style.  You will like.

This is a nice sports bar with decent food and good food specials. I've never had the pizza but it looks good. The service is good and friendly and you can usually find a place to sit.

This place is a good place to go to watch the KU game. The service is OK and its a great place to go for burger night. Other than that its just another sports bar with a bunch of fried food and beers.

So we have been here twice, and were impressed each time.  What draws us to this bar?  The 20 buck pitcher of beer and pizza special.
When you are with a couple of the o line and walk in and see the q and running back, you know this is a good place.

The burgers are good from what I understand.  They have these pepper jack bites that are pretty good as are their chicken wings.

Did I mention you get a pizza and pitcher for 20 bucks?  Did I mention that you can even get Guinness as one of your choices?  Did I mention the pizzas were freaking huge and that you will walk out with left overs?

This is a great place to kick back and drink beer and watch sporting events while interacting with friends and just having a good time.

The waitress was awesome on both visits since we had a huge group (10-12).  The service was great and so was the food.

I recommend this joint to anyone.  They also have nightly drink/food specials as well.

Sadly, I must stop frequenting a place that has great pizza and the best Guinness in town. Their waitresses and bartenders are really nice. I have given Johnny's  my business for a couple of years now.  The location is  convenient for meeting particular friends.

Unfortunately, I saw this coming about six months ago when a group of patrons at the table next to my group had a loud conversation full of ethnic slurs.  The bartender did not participate in their conversation, but she did not ask them to stop, either, and she definitely heard it. I realize mgmt cannot always monitor or control patron conversations. This incident just made me sad.  Sad that probably JoCo-educated peeps would feel ok having that conversation period, let alone in public.  Oh yeah, and I was with two non-caucasian people who also heard everything loud and clear. Anyway, I did not blame the establishment.

Several days ago, as I sat at the bar, a group of men were having a discussion about a certain mayor's son. The MANAGER joined in the discussion which quicky led to a "those people" rant. It went on and on.  Uhmmmmmmm is this 1965 or something?   We quickly paid our tab and ran out the door forever. Bye bye yummy Guinness!  Hopefully New Johnny's on 95th will be a better place.  I can't wait till it opens.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries. Best Buffalo Chicken sandwich I have had so far. Tender breast of chicken, fresh tasty toppings and the sauce was flavorful and hot but not so hot that it wiped out the flavor of the food. A+ for Pub Grub. The waffle fries were crispy and sweet just the way you'd like them.

Service was fast and friendly even though it was busy. The bathrooms were extremely clean and the place was cool on a hot day. I saw some awesome looking pizzas that I am looking forward to trying on my next visit.

My husband and I stopped into this neighborhood tavern for lunch while we were shopping in the Leawood area.
First impression was that it was clean, friendly, prompt service.  I ordered a turkey burger - which was a preformed patty - and sweet potato fries.  The fries were very good and the burger was passable.
I did watch a pizza being delivered to a customer and it looked and smelled amazing and wished that is what we had ordered!
We checked over the drink menu and they have a great selection of beer.  They also had quite a few tvs for viewing from many angles.
Nice neighborhood spot but would not go out of my way to go back.

This bar has always been known in Kansas City as a KU bar with a nice beer selection and a good menu.  A new owner took over the 119th location in 2010 and although the menu and drinks has not changed the atmosphere is not the same.

For example, the new management did not show the KU/ Nebraska football pay-per-view game.  He ended up turning away many disappointed KU fans from a "KU bar".

The new manager has been spotted taking shots with on the clock bartenders, and talking trash about patrons.  He has also been seen smacking female employee's rear ends.  It seems the climate of the bar has gone from a warm sports environment to a bunch of washed up has been old men who regularly sit at the bar and speak inappropriately about female employees.  Shame on you Johnny's.  Won't be back to the 119th location.

I do not know anything about the food here.
I had a Boulevard and bolted.
The beer is cold and the service is super friendly. : )
They do have specials at times... so inquire.
I need to come back and eat lest you Yelpers think I am an alkee!!!  ; )

Well, my mom was in Menorah hospital for a procedure so I decided we should try some Johnny's Tavern carryout.  I knew they were supposed to have a NY style pizza that I wanted to try.  Let me say, I will be back.  I really enjoyed the pizza.  We also got chili dogs and chicken wings.  I didn't get to try either, but those who did raved about how good each of them was.  They were also highly impressed with the fries.  They were basic fries, which are actually increasingly hard to find.  They had no special coating to make them crispy or any other of the current "technologies" fries employ these days, yet they were crispy and tasty.

I'm looking forward to going back!

    /mom's ok so far BTW
