[BACKGROUND]
Clarification:
- 3 stars for dinner/night (see my previous review)
- 3.5 stars for late afternoon (this review)
At night, it gets loud, you have to scream to have a conversation with people at your table, pizza takes forever, they run out of beers, servers disappear...
I was surprised at how nice and relaxing it was when I came here at 4pm to meet with a friend over drinks and an appetizer. Â Hence, I am writing a review to update my latest discoveries about what Jupiter is like around 4-5pm.
[AMBIANCE]
Probably the biggest difference: in the late afternoon, it's a much more relaxing atmosphere. Â Since there's sunlight and you're not wandering around in the dark, you notice and appreciate details such as the intricately carved wooden panels and stately armchairs. Â There are not a lot of people, so it's a nice place to catch up.
[FOOD]
The hummus plate was delicious! Â The pita was toasted warm, and there was a good selection of fresh veggies (olives, onions, tomatoes, cucumber) as well as a dollop of feta cheese. Â There were two types of hummus: the regular one, and a black bean one. Â As a whole, the plate was a wonderful mix-and-match of various flavors and textures in a create-your-own-pita.
[BEER]
At 4:30pm they were already out of the hefeweizen o.o  I'm glad I tried the honey wheat though.  Yes it looks weaksauce because it has one of the lowest ABV and IBU ratings, but it has a complex flavor that makes you think.  Not quite honey wheat, but golden and citrusy.  What I find most interesting is the aftertaste of bacon.  Sounds strange, but see for yourself before judging how much I know about beer :P
[SERVICE]
Attentive and friendly. Â They seem to be in a better mood because it's pretty chill.
[CONCLUSION]
even though I like Jupiter's in late afternoon a lot more than at nighttime, the "3.5" did not bump up to 4 because they have no happy hour menu. Â College student here--little things like HH specials are important factors!
Beers were good. I think they brew their own pilsner, honey wheat, and many others. Appetizers were also good. We ordered the hummus (comes with regular hummus and black bean hummus, pita, celery, carrots, olives, and feta) and roasted potatoes.
Pizzas were on the small side and lacked toppings. We ordered their special pizza of the day, a meatball one, and there was literally a quarter of a meatball on each slice. We also ordered a vegetarian one (I forgot the name, but it had artichokes). There was also too much crust. It literally was 1/4 of the entire slice.
Our server was nice and really attentive even though the place was pretty packed.
