I love doing a local search on Yelp and coming up with a good local place. Â It's no five star, but it's better than winding up at a McDonald's or Panera. Â Not sure why the previous reviewers are bent out of shape about the omelet pan...I'm from Jersey, we don't use pans at our diners. Â Also, it's called the Knotty Pine, why would you expect modern shiny decor? Â Silly. Â It looks like what it sounds like. Â Food was good, portions were large, we left food on our plates and we were full.
Review Source:Meh...it was okay. People get weirdly sentimental about particular neighborhood diners and overpraise them. This place isn't bad, but it's definitely overrated. It takes "greasy spoon" a little too literally, the utensils are clean of course but all the other surfaces (tables, benches, counter, stools) seem kinda greasy. The omelets are cooked right on the griddle instead of in - y'know - an OMELET pan, which makes it easier for the kitchen staff to crank them out quickly but the finished product isn't as tasty and your eggs don't get fluffy like they should be. Some people have commented on the home fries being really good, but I wouldn't know because omelets don't come with home fries (seriously!).
Service is very friendly, but a little unreliable.
It's wicked cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay a couple bucks extra and get better food.
Cash only.
